FM Transmitter? - HTC EVO 3D

I have searched the interwebz, but cant find anything that denies, or confirms the 3d will have an fm transmitter. The specs for the Htc Kingdom show that it will have one, and it seems to be an inferior phone compared to the 3d. http://www.phonearena.com/phones/HTC-Kingdom_id5465
I do remember some talk on the evo forum, that the evo itself had the hardware for this, but for whatever reason it couldn't be done. This is one little feature that would put a smile on my face . Hell, my wife's 6year old? fusic had this option. Not all of us that drive company vehicles have the aux input in our mobile offices.

If no, you Always have fm radio Apps that have local stations.
I just wish for a way to tune am stations in to listen to my local Phillies games

I miss my fusic I too remember the whole thread about the EVO having the capabilities for the transmitter, but it never did happen. I would absolutely love this feature. I don't see why they don't add this into more phones. Especially now a days.

Have you tried tunein radio? The pro version was available on the Amazon App Store a couple weeks ago free....
It has FM, AM, NOAA, etc

facepalm....there are many apps for listening to music, and yes the 3d has an fm radio. I am talking about the ability to transmit the phones audio to an fm station on your radio.

People
Receiver: Lets you listen to FM stations aka Radio
Transmitter: Lets you broadcast an FM "station" to an FM receiver.
The op is asking about the Transmitter not the Receiver.
I.E. Your phone would be able to transmit sound to ANY Car Radio that receives FM which should be practically all of them. Think of it as a universally accepted Bluetooth stereo that anyone within a certain range of you can listen to provided they are tuned into the same station.

Loving all the hasty snarky trolls on here!
"OF COURSE YOU CAN LISTEN TO FM YOU STOOOOOPID NOOB READ ALL THESE LINKS! DON'T YOU KNOW HOW TO SEARCH AND READ??"
Predictable tho I suppose.
The only questions I have about a possible transmitter are: how much juice does it use/will it be powerfully enough to overcome background FM noise, and will there be a fm walkie talkie app...
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App

I highly doubt the E3D will be able to transmit.
With the Evo 4G, people speculated it could transmit because on a teardown, it was shown to use Broadcom's BCM4329, which supports FM Rx/Tx. It never happened.
Now, I don't know what chip the E3D will use for FM radio, but even if the chip supported FM Rx/Tx, that doesn't mean it will have any additional hardware or software to support transmitting.
Look at it like this... Cars models come in different levels of trim. Higher trim levels have more features, lower trim levels might not have some of the feature, but usually the wiring harness used is the same. Now look at the Evo 4G and look at the Broadcom chip as the wiring harness... Yeah, if you look at the harness, it's like WOW, it can support FM transmit.. But not having a antenna or even a solder joint to use the feature will mean no transmit... :-(
HTC isn't advertizing it has FM transmit, so if I were you, I wouldn't expect for it to be supported or even capable in any way.

Nevermind... lol

dude, fail lol

I'd love to have a transmitter, but yeah, it's so rare to find a handset with one as of late that I'm not holding my breath. As far as the poster above talking about juice and overcoming other stations...my guess is that it wouldn't be hugely taxing on the battery, and as far as overcoming interference, I would assume that it would allow you to change to a different frequency that doesn't have something already on it (like the FM car kit transmitters).

Me too lol

I don't even know what to say...is the original post that difficult to understand? Most people get it, but I think a couple others are smoking something. Since the HTC kingdom, which is possibly AKA Hero 4g, is going to have this, why wouldn't sprints flagship phone have the same feature? The ability to TRANSMIT FM SIGNALS. Crabjoe is probably correct in his reply, but I simply wanted to see if anyone actually knew.

There are tons of cheap FM transmitters for music... The signal does not have to be strong or go far... Hell, you don't really want to the signal going far outside of your vehicle.
If the E3D has a FM transmitter like this POS at amazon, and someone can get it to work, I would be much impressed...

Problem is weak ones really suck in major metropolitan areas like LA, and that one would be really bad since it has a such a small range to pick from. For example we have a station at 106.7 and other stations close to those other options. The most important thing in a FM transmitter over power is I think a wide range of stations to choose from.

The short answer is almost certainly no. I posted a link to a discussion on this very topic below. The discussion centered around the FCC documents released within the past few weeks.
Page one and two of that link shows my explanation. I downloaded the schematic of the phone so i have it to look into in my free time. As a group, there, we looked at various things. I specifically was looking into having this very feature so I could ditch my intermediate transmitter. Broadcom's BCM 4329 is in the E3D just as it is in the Evo 4G. It is on page 42 of the schematic.
When I look into the actual connections, I see that any FM_RX pin-outs are connected. For example, the FM_RXP is connected out to the FM_ADJACK and was labelled with WMF_ANT_1. FM_RX is typically denoted for the FM Receiving portion on any schematic.
In all cases where the schematic shows pin-outs for the FM_TX portions, they are not connected to anything. These are typically denoted for transmitting functions. They all just dead-end.
Unless HTC changed something at the last minute and re-wired all of those dead-end transmitters, there will be no internal FM transmissions from the E3D.

[Q] NFC solutions

I'm not sure how slow or fast this technology will roll out, here in the States. Heck it could be 2014 before we actually get some common use out of it or it could be as early as 2012.
(Read up on NFC: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Near_field_communication)
(Watch NFC: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49L7z3rxz4Q)
But in the meantime I was considering the soon to come NFC capable, micro SD Cards & using that in my EVO 3D & maybe the phone after .vs getting a phone I don't want (that has NFC) or an NFC sticker that has poor software interation.
I might never use it (much like my OG EVO's HDMI out cord) but I'm no stranger to being prepared.
One good thing about the EVO 3D is the card's location for this type of card, as I'm guessing its range will not be as good as a dedicated & integrated NFC solution but its location is set on the outermost region in the EVO 3D & not deeply slotted within the phone, which should help. Again, its just guesses as I haven't even seen or heard about this card actually being tested or what it uses for range, only that its in development.
Thoughts? Plans? Scoffs? Meh?
I have mixed feelings about this NFC technology. On one hand it is about as close to a voluntary national ID card type system that I can think of aside from credit/debit cards... and we already have and use those, so, this just eliminates that one last thing to carry. But either way the more use of this type of tech is taken up by the general public the less common cash will be...I'd imagine cash would probably be accepted as legal tender always...but then again, throw around the word terrorist a couple times in congress and where there is a will there is a way. Now any 'non-government-sanctioned' transactions will have a very clear and accessible trail....
....now, I'll take my tinfoil hat off and say it is cool. I do dig technology...but aside from cashless payment systems I don't see much valid use of this technology. Somebody please tell me what I'm missing? It doesn't seem too terribly cool, but, once again perhaps I am missing something.
It also sounds ripe for abuse and fraud. Sure, they can use mega-secure encryption and there will be a clear trail, but, if it was designed by man there is (usually) a back door, intentional or otherwise.
Someone please tell me what is so exciting that I am missing, surely there must be something?

You got the main idea down (honestly what you posted will be some of the most commonly used functions of it) but it also goes a tad further,
Quoting the Wiki link here of just the few things NFC can do:
Social networkingNFC simplifies and expands Social networking options:
File Sharing: Tap one NFC device to another to instantly share a contact, photo, song, application, video, or website link.[6]
Electronic business card: Tap one NFC device to another to instantly share electronic business cards or resumes.[7][8]
Electronic money: To pay a friend, you could tap the devices and enter the amount of the payment.
Mobile gaming: Tap one NFC device to another to enter a multiplayer game.[6][9]
Friend-to-friend: You could touch NFC devices together to Facebook friend each other or share a resume or to "check-in" at a location.[10]
[edit] Bluetooth and WiFi ConnectionsNFC can be used to initiate higher speed wireless connections for expanded content sharing.[11]
Bluetooth: Instant Bluetooth Pairing can save searching, waiting, and entering codes. Touch the NFC devices together for instant pairing.[6][11]
WiFi: Instant WiFi Configuration can configure a device to a WiFi network automatically. Tap an NFC device to an NFC enabled router.[11]
[edit] eCommerceNFC expands eCommerce opportunities, increases transaction speed and accuracy, while reducing staffing requirements. A Personal identification number (PIN) is requried for payments.[7]
Mobile payment: An NFC device may make a payment like a credit card by touching a payment terminal at checkout or a vending machine when a PIN is entered.[7][6][12]
PayPal: PayPal may start a commercial NFC service in the second half of 2011.[13][14]
Google Wallet is an Android app that stores virtual versions of your credit cards for use at checkout when a PIN is used.[12]
Ticketing: Tap an NFC device to purchase rail, metro, airline, movie, concert, or event tickets. A PIN is required.[7][15][16]
Boarding pass: A NFC device may act as a boarding pass, reducing check-in delays and staffing requirements.[7]
Point of Sale: Tap an SmartPoster tag to see information, listen to an audio clip, watch a video, or see a movie trailer.[10][11]
Coupons: Tapping an NFC tag on a retail display or SmartPoster may give the user a coupon for the product.[10][11]
Tour guide: Tap a passive NFC tag for information or an audio or video presentation at a museum, monument, or retail display (much like a QR Code).[6][10]
[edit] Identity documentsNFC's short range helps keep encrypted identity documents private.[11]
ID card: An NFC enabled device can also act as an encrypted student, employee, or personal ID card or medical ID card.[11]
Keycard: A NFC enabled device may serve as car, house, and office keys.[11]
Rental Car and hotel keys: NFC rental car or hotel room keys may allow fast VIP check-in and reduce staffing requirements.[6][17]

Okay, all of those are extensions on the basic idea of what I thought it was...though much more clever and compelling I must say.
Okay...I'm on board. A lot of those uses seem like even going through the motion of 'tapping' would be a pain in the ass to do...but then I realized you would (like social networking sites) probably just set automatic (manually override-able) 'privacy defaults', 'proximity defaults' and 'dwell defaults' for checking in places, proximity auto-friending, game joining, contact transferal, etc.
Very interesting...also very scary, but, old fashioned 'privacy' might just be a thing of the past--though I would only sign up for a society like that if there was an equivalent amount of transparency in the operating of such a society, but, wiki-leaks and this administrations empty promises have already shown that to be nearly impossible to achieve through anything but empty lip service.
But I digress, aside from my idealism and cynicism being (once again) my stickiest of wickets, I think this has the potential to be really freakin' cool.

Did you even read any of the, what 4 (FOUR!??) other posts? One of them tells you everything you need to know to have your "way out of date" phone perform this simple function that is very likely buried in the phone somewhere, waiting for an update to open up...
...I doubt it costs all of $1 to enable this technology. It's like bluetooth but nowhere near as powerful....bluetooth chips are so cheap to make that they are thrown in on wifi stacks for free...ask any of us nook owners

LOL, I'm guessing the "mark of the beast" will be NFC. I don't plan on sticking around for that.
I can't tell if you guys are being serious... NFC is the future, whether it's utilized well or not it'll still be a huge deal a couple years down the line. Google's only getting started with their implementation.
Cousin has a NS4G, has an NFC tag on his door to turn on WiFi, open up his remote notifier app, and turn his volume all the way down.
You may be thinking "Big deal Tasker could do it." but imagine anyone being able to do that from just a swipe, no configuring or anything. Just swipe your phone and you're automatically on a locked network.
I'm especially excited to see what smart companies can do with NFC for marketing.

I'm hoping it spreads like wildfire & setups (much like your cousin's) become a common deal.
Serious, yes. The thread is just to touch people's stance (not everyone may like it was we do) on current plans & feelings for NFC, I plan to make a move the month the SD card solution becomes available.

Gone from Canadian and Czech sites too.
Google requires all Android devices that want Android Market to have GPS. So they can't just remove the chip, but want probably avoid having to fix it in already shipped Transformers. :|
Seriously?
Wats is this bull**** ?
And for those of us who are supposed to have it ?
The day google realises that ASUS is screwing around their clients because it's removing the GPS spec, they are going to make a tantrum.
If you think about it, the TFP will be the first device running ICS without a GPS, and eventually without the Market.
So we will all be stuck with a useless piece of expensive hardware.
They better correct their way of doing things, because it looks like a Sony copycat. Screw the clients, we decide what happens with our devices.
Companies should stick to their guns and make sure that they actually provide the functionality. Not **** people over afterwards.
i dont know how many times i have to say this WE HAVE GPS SO WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE MARKET WE HAVE GPS WE HAVE GPS WE HAVE GPS WE WILL HAVE THE MARKET the only thing is gps doesnt work well it doesnt work well
I looked for GPS a month ago on the site, and didn't find it. I did find it on the spec sheet though. So I have never seen that GPS was specifically listed other than on the spec list. I am wondering if anything has really changed....
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium
My only question is who the hell 1-starred this thread? In fact, who the hell is going around trying to downvote every thread that at all says something negative about the Prime? This thread is entirely factual and the OP reported something that is from Asus itself. Talk about device insecurity.
On topic: this is a really weird development, so weird in fact that I don't even know what to make of it.
It used to be listed. For me it was a requirement.
The FAQ download on the asus site contains a short section about gps. It was last updated on 12/27, is this section new? For safety, do not use while driving, insulated car windshields may reduce or block signals, and of course connect to the internet to first activate. Retailers still list gps on the primes specifications...at least bestbuy and newegg do.
Edit-Additional info- Asus site Specs list under sensors: e-compass.
So is the a game changer for some of you folks?
It seem like one bad thing after next is coming out with this cluster **** of a tablet launch from ASUS.

[Q] Plausibility of hearing mic input + music through headphone output

I hope the title mostly explains my question: I would like to know devs opinions about how "do-able" it would be to create a sound driver/app that would allow a user to hear the microphone input mixed with other audio when earbuds or headphones are connected to the device. I'm guessing that this would not be difficult. I am an electrical engineer with programming experience (only written one android program via tutorial, though), and I am thinking about trying this. I thought I'd start by bouncing this idea off you experienced devs.
Need for app (further explanation): My girlfriend is partially deaf-- she wears hearing aids to help her hear the outside world. When she listens to music or makes phone calls with her phone, she likes to use her earbuds -- lots of us do -- and like lots of us, she can't hear the outside world with earbuds in her ears -- in her case, she can't hear the outside world at all. I was thinking that if the android device could just forward an audio stream from the mic input to the headphone output, controlled by an on-off/sensitivity option, this would not only become a very sophisticated hearing aid replacement to devices that the deaf community has to pay thousands of dollars for, but it would also be useful to all of us who need to better hear the outside world at times when listening to music or talking on the phone with our earbuds in.
Like I said, it seems like a simple app or sound driver extension that could work with any audio output stream. I would get into the android api and start working on this unless there were specific reasons why this is not plausible. So here I am, bouncing the idea off you experienced devs.
What do ya think? Top-level approach, how could this be done? Does android limit this type of functionality?

I'm not a professional dev.
But I heard android can't process the mic input at realtime.
I think this is similar case with noise canceling.
Noise canceling needs real time mic input processing but android's API doesn't support it.
I don't want to say this...but iOS is way forward than android about this area.
(It actually supports sound processing at almost real time.
If you want to find example, search for amplitube or imic for iOS.)

Thanks AndroidON for your reply. My girlfriend currently uses an iPhone, and already I have found http://scientificaesthetic.com/2010/09/22/reviewing-awareness-for-the-iphone/ which is exactly what I hoped to find/develop in the android platform. So while this is awesome for her, I may never get her on to android now!!! heh heh Seriously though thanks for sending me on the iphone search, because that's just what she needed.
(Boooooo Android!)
Can anybody else confirm or deny that this is not possible on the android platform? I don't need processing, just signal forwarding with attenuation ...which may mean processing if converting from A/D then convert from D/A again... I was hoping hardware would allow the signal to stay in analog, to avoid the need for realtime digital processing. This is somewhat technical and I hope to hear from developers, and I would like to begin developing it if it's possible, which is why I originally posted in the dev section.
bumping this thread
Thanks for considering my question!!
Anybody know if this is possible with the android api?
Interesting question and a good idea for an app!
Well, it is definitely possible with java but there would be some delay due to a minimum buffer.
Look here (sorry, can't post links): stackoverflow.com/questions/5379063/audiorecord-and-audiotrack-latency
They say that probably it is possible to work around this problem with some C code
Hmmmm.... interesting! Thanks for that!
Yeah a little bit of delay would not be a bad thing in this case. The iPhone equivalent of this idea is Awareness! and it has delays of 1 to 2 tenths of a second.
No problem!
Well, maybe delay is ok for this

Fixing Asus' screwup: Bluetooth GPS receivers.

So yeah, we all know asus botched the GPS in their latest tablet,
they denied us a fix (irony) and now we're left to pick up the pieces ourselves.
Does anyone have some pointers on how to get a bluetooth GPS receiver to work on the prime?
I have a really old one (+7yrs) that doesn't seem to catch on with any of the apps I tried.
Its so old its unlikely to be compatible with anything android so a new one is in order,
so I was wondering if anyone knew a cheap one I could grab to get some GPS going.
In a quick search I found this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BT-Mini-Mob...408?pt=AU_GPS_Accessories&hash=item4160a71b08
It certainly is cheap, but is it a viable receiver?
Any help towards getting GPS on my prime would be greatly appreciated!
(No I dont have a GPS phone..)
Cheers,
- Sven
Him.. I would be a bit leery of that thing. Something seems a little.. anemic? Get it, try it, report back as I would be curious how well it works and how long the battery lasts. Check Amazon for "Keychain Bluetooth GPS Receiver" if you want something like that and read some reviews.
I have read very good things about the Pharos GPS brand.
Naturally, you then need an app from the market on your tablet that talks to the unit so that you can get the GPS data it has sent to your tablet. So, it is not just as simple as pairing the 2 BT devices, an app is needed to then gather and use the data on the tablet.
Ive looked into those apps, they do something called mock location I think?
I have an old as hell GPS receiver but alas the apps weren't having it.
It pairs as normal, even does the 0000 password thing like it used to on my win mobile 2003,
but it simply isn't pumping out any data, not sure whats going wrong.
And yeah, the pricetag on that ebay one is raising some "this cant be decent" flags on my end too.
Then again some of the cheap Chinese crappery has surprised me before.
If at all possible id prefer buying a tried-and-true GPS unit though.
Pharos brand IGPS 500 has been talked about many times here alone in the Prime threads.
Assuming it is this thing, I find the price a bit steep,
for 90 bucks you can pretty much buy a standalone tomtom or similar.
I was hoping for someone to confirm wether or not the specs listed on that ebay receiver would be compatible and workable for navigation,
and if it could in theory work, id gladly be the guineapig to try it out and see how it goes.
But if it would be a dud per definition there'd be no point.
Shop around my friend, I can see some on ebay for $50 and used for much much less.
The one on eBay does "in theory" work. Like I said, search Amazon and read some reviews on those little keychain models.

Just FYI regarding 'mock locations'. That's actually a setting in the TF201 that you have to use with external gps units. I can use Google Navigation on my TF201 with data from my phone gps via wifi (using the TetherGPS program that is available in the market). In order to make it work I have to turn on 'Allow mock locations' by going to Settings, Applications, Development and then click 'Allow mock locations'.
Good luck, and let us know how it goes.
I have tried and tried and tried to get my Droid to tether GPS but have not been able to make it happen - tried many apps and many settings. I can, however, tether 3G and data all day long. Have not yet solved the GPS via my phone yet as we have great GPS units in our phones already.. generally speaking.
Yes, many used ones, even one for 29 bucks, but "ya'll yanks" dont like us Dutchies.
None of em are willing to ship to the Netherlands so im plum out of luck with ebay and pharos.
Local shops here dont seem to carry Pharos products at all, so that's two dead ends on that one im afraid.
Amazon doesn't seem to carry any keychain GPS units.
So meanwhile I went to one of my favorite cheap swag suppliers, deal extreme.

What do you guys think of this thing? Its acing the reviews it seems.
They also mention google maps working with it somehow, so there may be a good chance?

Yes, they certainly do, here is just 1 http://www.amazon.com/Freedom-Input-Keychain-GPS-2000/dp/B0010NQ08M maybe not in the price you want, but they do carry several models.
Not only that, Amazon has the pharos IGPS new and used and if you can shop there, you can buy there. I would take the proven pharos in same price range over an unproven model any day.

Phobos is an American thing it seems, I cant shop at amazon.com either.
Although I agree with you that it is worth paying a little more if its a proven fix,
I cant get my hands on them so they are definitely out.
The 99 dollar keychain one probably doesn't resemble the 12 dollar one much.

Could you please specify which type you have?
Dealextreme seems to offer this brand, so I can get one if it really works well.

Yeah, if your going to post a brand you have used with success here, PLEASE try to include the model - that would be super helpful.
Notice how the Holux says "32 parallel satellite-tracking channels for fast acquisition and reacquisition" and that one on Amazon is 51 (2x the price) and the Pharos does not say.
That other one on dealextreme even boasts 65 sats. Thats a helluva lot of sats.
Unfortunately its impossible to know if its actually compatible.
I did email the manufacturer about android compatability,
but the site was full of chinglish so dont expect an answer.

The thing is, there is no reason why it would not be "android compatible". These BT type GPS devices are BT devices. So, if they use a current BT standard - which they should - your fine. A BT type GPS is not made to be manufacturer specific. That is the point and beauty of them. They are for tablets, phones, computers, whatever. So that is not even a question worth asking.
The only things you should care about is the quality and name of the brand you choose and the software app you choose to put on your tablet. The tablet app you use is likely way more critical as it is what will do all of the work in sending the GPS signals to your tablet. The BT GPS unit is kind of just dumb in terms of who it is talking to and who talks to it. It does not really care. It has a current BT chip inside to communicate with a BT device - and so does your tablet. The software is going to be crucial as much as the quality of the GPS unit.... point is there is no "android compatible" BT GPS unit per se. These units are made to work with phones, laptops, tablets and more. It is brand dumb.
Every unit talked about here so far should 100% work. IF they do not, it is likely (1) a GPS quality issue - hence a $14 BT GPS keychain versus a $50-100 model or (2) the tablet software you pick to connect the 2 to talk.
If I could post a link I'd send you to the GPS over BT thread in the Android Forums. I'm still a few post shy of linking externally here.

Thanks.. getting it done is not so much of an issue - tons of places on the web explain it. The software exists in the market as well. Really, it is first about picking the desired BT GPS unit of choice - I think that is the goal here first.
I know theres tons of apps for it, but its not as universal as it all sounds.
My receiver is proof of that unfortunately.
I think ill order the keychain one just for laughs,
we might get pleasantly surprised.

I say go for it. Try it and see. Not a real huge loss if not. If not, sell it on craigslist and get your money back.
BUT, your not entirely correct. You self admit "I have a really old one (+7yrs)" - do you (1) realize how old that is in tech and (2) I bet that thing uses way old BT technology as just 1 possible reason why (not to mention GPS standards). Point is, my comment above is most certainly related to current & modern technology so needs that obvious context - not a piece from 2005

Had a G Watch for 3 months.....

So, I was super excited and super satisfied with my LG G Watch for the past 3 months+.
However, I was just given a 1st gen Galaxy Gear and am totally blown away by the ability to make and receive phone calls with it! Not only that, but the screen is far superior. The Tizen operating system is much more pleasing to the eyes as well. The only complaint is the limited supply of apps available for it. With that said, I don't really know what else I need aside from what comes on it stock.
If given the choice @ $100 price point, I would choose the Galaxy Gear hands down.
Just my 2 cents
I agree, have a Gear 2 and now a Gear S and I do not use a lot my G Watch or my R Watch. R Watch just standalone for the face.
On Gear I have all app I need and more than the Wear : Google Task on Gear but do not exist on Wear.... incredible to not have Google app on wear
Can take note with keyboard on Gear even without phone or internet connexion but impossibble with wear. Speaker on Gear to answer on voice command but not on wear.... and many many many....
Glad you love it. I just cannot imagine talking to my wrist on a phone call, though.
I actually had the Gear first and was using it with Tizen before I got my LG G watch...I am still floored to this day that Google decided to take this gigantic leap backwords by releasing the androidwear spec without phone capabilities.
The move is so moronic that my head explodes if I think about it too much...I mean, the technology was right there...Samsung did it on the original gear!!!! I was using it virtually every day...
Anywhoo... I still use my androidwear G watch as my daily driver as I like the app selection and love my custom watchface that I made with Facer giving me all the info I need at a glance...but if google ever decides to get their heads out of their a$$e$ and include telephone support...I'm all over it..
Watches with phone capabilities have been out forever. Never really caught on. I doubt I'd ever use it if I had it.
Agree. It makes my head explode that people want this feature.....

So it bothers you that people would want a feature that would be totally unobtrusive to you if you chose not to use it?
i would love a samsung watch but do not and will not have anymore samsung phones. wish they worked on any android phone
Ouch, why would someone want to make phone calls using the watch???
That's what BT headset or earpiece is for.

have you ever seen someone with a bluetooth headset? i make fun of them everytime. the watch is great while you're on hold, or talking to tech support. medical pros don't have to take their gloves off to take a call. just answer it with voice. it's really got alot of good reasons to have it.

I'd think with that ability they'd break patients confidentiality more easily? I can't imagine a personal call these days with these gadgets. I agree those Bluetooth headset!
i really thought the headset was outdated by now. maybe medical professionals wasn't the best example, how about tattoo artists? or anyone that types on the computer all day?

Why would I want everyone to hear my conversation? Why would a wireless device that is used to keep personal conversations personal be outdated? Do we all of a sudden live in a society that values hearing what others have to say in a phone conversation? Hell, even in my car, my phone is connected via Bluetooth for hands-free communication. But then again, the whole world doesn't have to hear it with the windows up
What I think is outdated is holding a phone up to your head, which deserves equal ridicule under your view most likely...
