My 3 day old prime will not charge via the power adapter, I tried bending the prongs, I tried freezing it thinking there may be a thermal cut off switch.
The cable i snot bad because my PC and MAC both see it via USB, I just can't get it to charge.
Any ideas would due greatly appreciated before i send it back to New Egg. It is a C Series Serial Number.

Check the power adapter. Mine had separated a little from the "brick". Once I snapped it back together it worked. My experience.
Same thing for me.. PC recognizes it as a media device, but will not charge with wall charger. Wall charger works with my HTC Phone, so it works.
I don't think it has anything to do with the latest update, since the Dock wont charge either, and there's no OS in that, right?
There have been a lot of people remarking on the wall charger going dead. Contact Asus or bring it back to the store.

But that's just the thing, the wallcharger works on my phone, but not the Prime. Does that mean that it sends out too little power, or is something else wrong?

Now that's weird !
How can a charger which came with the Tablet give an output power which is not enough to charge the Tablet which it has been made for? That does not add up.

Can it be something with the newest firmware update? I read something about that on another Android forum, but that was for the old Transformer.
But still, why then wouldn't it charge the dock, since there's no OS on there, is it? Would not have anything to do with a firmware update?
This charger crap is stupid....mine stopped and it wasn't even plugged in....freezer fixed it though

I recall reading somewhere that the Asus charger can put out 5 volts, or 11+ volts (11 + is required to charge the prime.) It could be that it is charging your phone because it is supplying the 5volts, but it may have something wrong with it and it is not putting out the 11+ volts required to charge the Prime.
My first Prime had this EXACT problem where it would no longer charge, and I returned it for a second one while under the return window- I believe the Asus chargers are just not very good and they are prone to failures.
When I received my second prime, I went out and Purchased a Radio Shack 12 volt wall charger, with a USB adapter that plugs into the transformer prime charging cable. The Radio shack charger is much better for me- no failures and it does not event get warm while charging- the tablet has worked fine for the last 2 months so far without issue.
If you are interested in the radio shack charger, see other posts made by me for specific part numbers. you can order online, or pickup in store at most locations.
Asus needs to do something about these wall chargers. They need to be re-designed so that they do not seperate, and do not require cartridge based adapters- this is a huge problem.
The primes biggest issue with " Prime reliability" is the wall charger IMO- More failures and returned units for this than anything else.
I love my Prime, and the radio shack charger works for me- good luck: and check all of your other options first before returning your tablet... there is a good chance it has to do with the charger itself.

Same over here...my wall charger broke inside a few weeks ago when i pushed the usb into it the wrong way so when i pulled it out it took the plastic surrounding the pins with it. ..the plastic was broken but there was still enough of it left to push it back in thus covering the pins the way it was...and now ( 2-3 weeks later) the charger stopped working and the cable no longer detects a PC when plugged in and the prime doesnt detect a PC either..the screen turns on when i plug the cable into the charger or PC but thats all it does...no charging indication or Sync notification..nothing. SO im hoping its the charger as thats what im going to buy on Friday with the cable and if not then I guess this tablet went from a nice fast beauty to a dead POS really quick..lets see....oh and ive tried the freezer, detach the charger methods and pushing the pins out on the port and its still 1 BIG FAIL...hoping for the best =) ...running icylicious BTW and this is a nice themed ROM..big ups to the dev
I went to find a new charger, but a 15v wallcharger was impossible to find. So I was lucky and found an original Asus charger (50 f'in euros), so I bought that.. But still, when I plug it in, the charge-light on the dock is blinking, and the tab wont charge.. it turns it self on when I plug it in, but then I get a picture of a battery and then it shuts off....
Is the Prime broken, or is it still something to do with the charger?

The Prime will show the red battery once plugged into a charger when its completely dead..i would leave it charged for an hour or 2 and try turning it on again...it SHOULD work..if it doesnt then yeah I would say its the Prime unless that charger doesnt work either...at that point I would probably give up on life J/K!!!
Same problem here. The adapter stopped charging my Prime. I was able to find the original Asus Transformer charger at a local Office Depot (last one in stock). That works fine and charges. I don't understand how that charger can just fail like that. If there's a fix please post. TIA

These problems have been around since the TF101 as the 101 & 201 use the exact same charger. It evidently isn't a big enough issue to address.
I finally found a store where they were selling the charger (Office Max) and they only had 1 charger left! ..This was after I called bestbuy,hhgregg, brandsmart, radioshack...I even went to the ASUS ordering site and they were all out...Amazon was out, Ebay was my only bet or so i thought..I called OfficeMax as a last resort as I didnt even think about that store at first. Now My Prime is back to shape..I may need to leave it charging for a little while after 100% as the battery is draining a little faster than usual and Ive been "trickle charging" for a week already. Plus this new charger is only a 3FT if that so the cord is shorter than the 6ft I had originally with the Prime. If you guys are looking try Office Max and ask for the Asus Transformer charger not the Asus transformer PRIME as majority of all stores dont got it, never have and probably never will. Good luck!

I would like to have a car charger for the Prime. I've seen a couple 3rd party ones that may work....However, I DO NOT WANT TO BURN UP MY PRIME.
I was wondering if ASUS had a recommendation of a reliable one, or maybe even had one in the early stages of development.

It's a different one but same functionality. I always have it in my truck and has totally replaced the need for me to have any dedicated mobile chargers. Worked fine for my prime on a recent road trip.
Thanks....I already have an inverter, which I will use if necessary, but with a passenger in the car, the front seat area gets a little crowded....geez.....maybe I ought to put her in the back seat.
Since the car runs off of a 12v battery, it should be relatively easy for ASUS to produce a charger designed for the Prime.

Might not be too bad an idea
Though yes I agree. It would be easy enough for them to make one just has to be financially sound.
Can be totally wrong now.
Prime Needs 11+ volt to charge in normal speed.
A Phone or the standard chargers with a usb port that you can find anywhere usually output 5V.
People swap charger back and forth between their phones or other devices that have USB connection on the charger.
If Asus release a charger for Prime that Output 11+ volt I don't think it would be to good if people plugged there phones that only need 5V.
And I pretty sure that people will try to use it and don't look at the specifications of the charger and the specifications of their device. They will just plugg it in expect it to work. And after their phone broke they will blame Asus for release a charger that don't work with other devices.
And if Asus release a charger that don't have a removable cable and that only fits Prime. Folks will be made about that to.
Just some late night thoughts.

Correct...It would have to be a dedicated cable to cigarette lighter .....not a removeable cable.

Shouldn't be a problem, the prime charger and usb cable are designed so that it wont cause issues with other devices. If you look carefully at the charger and/or usb cable you can see 9 contacts rather than 4. If you plug a standard usb cable in to the prime charger it will only make a connection with the 4 contacts not all 9.
Car adaptor can be made the same way so it will provide 5 volts on a standard cable using the 4 contacts and 11 volts when all 9 contacts are in use.

I use one i bought from radio shack, with changeable tips (outputs 12v/1a), in combination with an usb tip (extra attachment bought separately) , altogether about $20.
I plug the prime's usb charging cable straight into the usb attachment, and it's been working just fine.
Nobody else uses that charger but me, and it stays in my car, so i m not concerned about other people's phones getting burned out XD.

If you lost your charger, you would be better off buying a new one from a place like Office Depot (http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/768723/ASUS-Power-Adapter-For-Eee-Pad/). It would be safer and it would probably be better for your the longevity of your Prime.
Something like the charger shown in the video might work OK for the Prime. I say "might" because the Prime expects 15v not 12v and generally won't enter "charging mode" from only 12v. However it will still charge the tablet, just more slowly than the original Asus charger.
I build a charger for my car from a similar setup to what is in the video. I followed the directions that are in the ultimate accessory guide post. My charger switches to 15V so it charges at the normal rate. Mine also has a USB port so I can charge my phone at the same time.
i got my second charger from ebay. cost me $15, its was a new in box asus transformer wall charger. Now i have two and dont worry about it.

I dont think its the prime thats entering "charging mode" but rather the charger itself that gets thrown into "Charge Mode". There is a connection at the 40 pin connector that goes from ground back to the charger, i do believe THAT is what makes the charger output 15v instead of 5v so it doesnt fry your other USB devices.
There are many people who have used home made chargers for their prime. Look for a thread talking about the pinout of the 40pin connector and you can find more. Hope this helps.

my Prime does not charge at the moment. Neither in the dock nor with the charging cable.
I can connect it to the computer, i also charges there, but very slowly.
I just unlocked the prime and flashed AndroWook ROM.
What can I do?
Do you have another charger box? - It seems that your USB cable is good but possibly that the box that cable plugs into is bad or somehow defective, see if you can either A: Borrow someones charger box or if possible buy another one and test it to see if it works. IF it does work keep the charger or return it and possible contact whoever you bought your prime from and ask for a new charger.
It's most likely the charger box because the same thing happened to me. I am currently using my old cellphones usb charger. It doesn't show it as charging because it's like 5-10 volts instead of 15, but it still charges, just takes longer.
