so i just got and rooted my vibrant yesterday and well i accidently installed cwm3 and it didnt let me glash any roms and i tried to restore my stock rom by restoring but it said error restoring boot img and now its stuck in the splash screen please how do i fix????????
get odin and the pit and tar files (if you havent already)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1047087
power off the phone
open odin
hold volume up and down
plug usb in
or
open odin
pull the phone battery
plug usb in
hold vol up and down
push battery back in (while holding vol buttons)
both of these ways should put you in download mode, if they dont straight away just keep trying and try different ports on your computer

See if you can use ODIN anyways, if you have the new boot loader it should work.
Otherwise try taking everything out (sim, sd) and try again
What I do when this happens to me is, hold all.3 buttons Volume up/down and power until the pc to computer symbol pops up for the 2nd time then plug in the USB into the phone and it works for me every time. You will not see the download symbol just the phone to PC one but the com port should show up and your good to go.

Yo dawg. I love you a lot. I thought i was a goner. fo shoo
im having a problem getting into my vibrant phone.... i tried switching to one of the newest overstock kernel roms i followed each step i think and when i want to reboot my phone the only thing that shows up is the samsung vibrant logo and overstock logo over and over again.... i tried to go back into recovery mode but i cant.... so is my phone bricked or is there any other way i can get into recovery mode to get it running again?
Did you try to attach one end of the USB cable to your vibrant while holding down both the volume buttons then insert the other end to the PC?
This should get you to download mode.

I havent tried the usb from the pc yet.... Will it work with macs???
if can't get into recovery without the 3rd button combo, is possible that you phone is hardware locked and probably can't get into download mode. This is just a tip for you and some other people trying new ROMS/KERNELS, do some research on your phone before trying anything on it, such as getting the phone in download mode, using odin/heimdall, remember that by rooting your phone you voided your warranty.

Odin wont work on mac so you wont be able to flash to stock using that but you could try this way to check if your phone really is bricked or not. Then you can try it out on windows and flash to stock if you were indeed able to enter download mode.

You can use Heimdall. I don't think it allows repartitioning, but you can definitely flash back to stock with it. See this thread.
Thanks im gonna try this out.... hope it works
So you can't get to recovery with buttons?
Have you tried:
1. Hold both volume buttons
2. Power on phone (no USB cable attached)
3. Release power button at first Vibrant screen (keep holding volume buttons)

Oh ok thanks so much for your help!!!!
No problem. Good luck to you.
Hey Can someone please help me out? I installed Simply Honey 3.3 yesterday and when i rebooted system it gave me rainbow screen again and again. I don't know what to do the 3Button Combo is not working at all, and i cant seem to get it in download mode to ODIN
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Power your phone down
2. Remove back cover, battery, sim card and sd card.
3. Reinsert battery ONLY, but leave your phone off
4. Open ODIN and load the 512.pit and the JFD.tar (512.PIT goes to PIT and the JFD.tar to PDA)
5. Select repartition and select the check box next to PDA
6. On your phone, press and hold the volume up and down at the same time. Keep them pressed and plug the mini USB into your phone (Please note the USB should be plugged into your PC as well)
7. You will be kicked into download mode AND Odin should show your comm in the first box. This comm will also glow yellow
8. Double check Odin to make sure you have everything loaded correctly
9. Click start
Hey Thanks for replying!!!!! i tried the above and when I hold Vol Up+ Down and insert it goes straight to "VIbrant" boot logo then the rainbow starts again and then it reboots once more... thank you in advanced! if you could help me i would donate some money to you! thank you for helping me
U need to get into down load mode! After that ur problem is solved. maybe u need a usb jig to get into dl mode.

The steps posted above are correct somewhat.
Take battery out. Plug in usb to both phone and computer. Hold both volume keys and then insert battery.
You dont have to odin to stock though. You can flash a stock voodoo kernel via odin, say ka7, when the phone reboots youll be stuck at vibrant screen. Simply hold both volume keys and power until you see sonething on the screen and then releaae power only. This will get you to recovery where you can try flashing again, seems to always work the second time, or flash something else or restore.

Ohhhh i see! I can just switch my Kernel out but keep the rom and it should stop the Bootloop?

No you can switch the kernel to a 2.2 one and get into recovery. Then you can restore or flash a new. Second flash usually takes.

You could've just as easily flashed a voodoo froyo kernel to get to recovery and flash another Tom.

I accidently booted my phone without loading a ROM onto it and now it won't even start. It doesn't even vibrate. HELP!!
Try holding volume up + volume down + power for a few seconds. If the phone vibrates, let go of the power button. You should have booted into recovery.
nope nothing

How do I put it back to stock if the phone doesn't turn on?
Can you put it into any boot/flash mode when connecting it to your computer?
If so, for a quick fix I would flash the device using Odin or Flashtool and load a Rom that way.
Hope this helped if so click that Thanks button

You gotta get into download mode somehow either with computer and Odin or through different button combination on device try Heimdall as well might be able to use that but if you can't get into bootloader or recovery then it's a wrap

How exactly do I flash/boot via Odin?
There is no change when I plug in my phone into my computer
Yes, do as UncleLester has said. Try hold volume down + power for 10+ seconds. If you're able to go into download mode, you can restore to stock. If the phone doesn't turn on at all, I'm not sure what else you can do...
yeah, I held down the volume up + down + power for almost a minute. Nothing :/
I'm with jpark623 with that if none of the above work I'm afraid your a bit stuck.
What device is it by the way? And how did you get into this mess?
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
Download mode is accessible by volume down + power. Recovery mode is volume down + volume up + power. Don't press volume up for download mode.
My phone is not even recognized in the ID:COM Section
Were you able to access download mode? If so, then you need to install drivers. If not, you NEED to be in download mode.

There is a thread with a link to a Flashtool download or do what I done and Google Odin and download that.
Odin and Flashtool are programs that make flashing a little easier, the device needs to be put in a fastboot/flash/recovery mode (depending on device it's usually a combo of volume up + volume down or sometimes including the home button) when it's in it, Odin or Flashtool will detect it thats when you can select your chosen Rom.
I use Odin more than Flashtool just because I came across it first and it's never let me down however I haven't used it in a while, when I downloaded it though it did have a little 'how to' guide so everything you need to know will be im there.
Hope this helped if so click that 'Thanks' button

I was trying out different custom roms that I had downloaded. I had just finished one and decided to change it. After booting it into recovery mode, I had wiped the cache and reset it back to factory settings. I tried to load a roam named "JZO54K.N7000XXLS7". It errored and stopped trying to install. Afterwards I ended up wiping it again and resetting the cache to make sure there were no remnants. Following this, I rebooted the phone and now i'm in this position

From just reading that I think your device has had it, if your getting no response from those combos them I doubt the computer will read it as it wont have power.
Sorry chum bad times

It seems that i'm not even able to even get into recovery or download mode as it is a blank screen, no matter how long I hold down the buttons for.
Sounds like you somehow hard bricked your phone... Not sure how you can recover your phone without professional help. Sorry I couldn't help.
I had only just got this phone a day ago :/
Rooted Vibrant running Helly Bean 2.2. Camera wasnt opening so i rebooted my phone. Get stuck on cyanogen loading screen and does nothing. I pull battery, reinsert, volume down+power and i get nothing. The samsung vibrant screen flashes, and either turns off or goes into infinite cyanogen loading screen depending on how long i hold the power button. I cant get into download mode either. How can i force it into recovery?
I had unbrickable mod applied to this device already, so eventually i forced the phone into download and reverted to stock and started all over again. I wonder what broke what
If you can get the boot cyon, keep working it, there are several methods. Pullbattery # button then plug usb, change ports, I know but sometimes it works, if you have a boot screen, you can get download, if you do this enough you should invest in a USB jig, my old skorkin jig works on my S3 to force download, good luck, you'll get it. Itsd a soft brick,Be Odin ready...
Try vol up+down + odin and start again.
