Over the past few weeks I have been trying several of the new GB roms for the Tbolt, one thing I have noticed with all of them is I am unable to change the notification/text message tone. When you make a selection to change it, visually it selects whichever tone you choose but it still plays the default tone. I have had this issue on the latest versions of Gingeritis, Liquid Gingersense, and Das BAMF. Is this a known bug or is it just me? I did some searching and couldnt come up with anything. Also as I have tried several different ROMS, data and cache as well as dalvik have been wiped many many times so I don't think this is an issue, also tried fixing permissions with no luck.

I considered doing that but seeing as this is an issue that appears to be affecting GB Roms acrossed the board (at least for me) it would probably be of interest to the development community and will be seen by more people who actively develop here, so in others words if I have to take a "blasting" then I guess that will just have to happen.
If you wanna change the tone...open the messaging app...hit menu...go to settings then notifications ...change it in there and not through the sound settings ...

It is about as common as knowing that the power button turns the phone on and off...lol
It's common knowledge that you can set the notification tone that way yes, but is it common knowledge that with GB Roms on the Tbolt that if you change it via settings>sound>notification tone that it doesn't work

Yes because I'm pretty sure you're one of the rare few that goes to settings and sounds to change the sms tone lol
thanks i for one could not figure out why it would not cahnge under settings myself. so this thread has been helpful to atleast someone. Should be in QA though like qubanaso said. development section is stricktly for acutal releases and stuff in development not a question about a feature of a new version of the OS

Let me break this down for you, while it may be common knowledge that you can change the notification tone via the settings menu within the messaging app, I was inquiring as to whether it was common knowledge that if you attempted to change it on these GB Roms for this phone via opening the app drawer, going to settings, then sound, then notification tone, it does not work, you stated it was common knowledge that this doesn't work, or chose poor wording and referencing in your reply which appeared to infer that this bug was common knowledge then stated that I was one of few people who change the tone this way, which contradicts your first statement, your attempt to make yourself look and feel stupid has succeeded, good day.

KANG - To steal or a stolen code when referring to programming. Also can refer to leaked coding.
Due to the copious amounts of kanging that now happens in regards to android development I will be pulling all of my links and changing the original posts with this. If you would like to use my roms please feel free to find the kanged version elsewhere.
For inspiring developers, rtfm or ask someone who knows what they are doing before you steal someone elses work, look at someones code and get the general idea. If you port or use something as a base, credit that person. Do not just link back to the thread where you got it from. My email is [email protected] so feel free to ask questions, if I know the answers I will be willing to assist.
I don't wish to call anyone out but I will say there are a few roms, specifically for MT4G Slide that have been kanged. One of which was taken from me, another was a kanged version of CM7 which was just the Settings.apk SettingsProvider.apk and Launcher.apk replaced. CM7 is framework edits, not just a list of apps an entire team works on. You cannot just replace apps in CyanogenMod and expect it to work thus the reason some parts of the Settings.apk force close. Its not hard to be an idiot but its even easier to spot bull**** work, do yourselves a favor, leave xda, leave rootzwiki, leave whatever thread you are on and learn from people who know what the fk they're doing.
If my email fills with hate mail, then fine, at least what I did I feel was right and do not have to worry about my development being taken and rebadged, if I'm out of line then have a moderator delete and close my thread. Thanks!
I am currently using this, works excellent . Very happy with it.
The circle battery doesn't work for me, and another user reported it in that thread. It doesn't flash the circle battery, flashes a regular looking battery with a percent. I'm a bit disappointed :/
Your right, it doesn't seem to flash the Circle Battery Icon. But no matter. I'm very happy with the ones it does have. Both have the percentages in them. Which was my main concern. Plus one of them looks way better than the stock battery icon, but still fits in nicely with the stock theme.

I'm using the other one at the moment. I'm thinking I'll just leave it til I flash a new ROM (probably go with NFX for now until there's a better/more complete/official port of CM7), then I'll flash a true one using the UOT Kitchen.
Yea, the other one is nice. It's just this one is a little bigger. Easier on the eyes

The universal online theme kitchen works great as well, and gives you tons of options. Just have to pull framework out of the rom zip and upload, and it gives you a flashable zip. Nandroid first though, in case

BTW, your issue is not with the phone or with Netflix, it's user error. If it says that the device needs to be activated it means you're running the app on a Froyo Rom. The app only works on Netflix compatible Gingerbread Roms. Do a little research, there are at least 4 threads in the Thunderbolt boards with this information.
If that is not the error you're getting, it's still your fault, because you're asking a vague question and providing no information, so we're left to guess at what the actual problem is.

Why is it hard to believe? Apparently it's not a common file in the system so that means only YOUR daughter has it in her Vibrant. I mean it could be a left over porn file that was deleted, it could be a left over app file from an app that was deleted. Just Google it and do some research instead of having other people do the work for you. Developers have more "important" things to do than look into a useless file in your daughters phone system.

Listen, I apologize for not only myself laughing at your question but also the negative responses and little help you've received on your topic in general. Seeing that you've only posted 6 times, all of them being in this thread, the members of XDA must look pretty mean. However, I can assure you that XDA is a very helpful place. It's just that a file called "DirtyFriend0" is pretty kinky sounding...
I searched the web for quite some time to find out the origin of this file and only came up with one result seen here. Which is what I'm guessing is what you mentioned earlier by the other "guy asking about the same thing but no replies." I'm sure the file isn't causing any issues and I would suggest you just leave it. Still if you feel that you must, deleting it probably wouldn't cause any issues either. It's your choice.
Hope you don't hold a grudge against the members of this forum. These guys are really helpful! Its just that the file in question has a pretty odd name that was just asking to be made fun of...
So my note recently has started to announce the names of incoming calls. I hear my ringtone as I normally would, and about 3 seconds into the ringtone, the android "gps voice" speaks the name aloud. At first it startled me, but then I actually liked the feature because I do screen my calls at times and it is helpful when my phone is out of reach. Now however, it has been doing the same thing with my emails. The bad thing is that it decides to do it randomly while I'm at work when my phone is on silent. While on silent, my phone will just "speak" and say "you have 2 new emails" while i'm at work. The email voice has only happened twice so far, but I do not want it to happen again. I did notice that it occurred when my media volume was on...not sure if it is linked to this or if it was just coincidence. Anyone else have this issue or know how to stop it? I figured this was not normal since it did not occur when I first got the phone, and it just activated randomly...

I used it with loquendo TTS which has been by far the best TTS. But I have to give Samsung credit as Samsung TTS does very well too. But loquendo is still a touch above.

Yep. Sure do. Makes for an easier explanation... I mean, who doesn't love pictures? Think, National Geographic.... ;-)

To further avoid myself, being accused of doing wrong in the essence of good, please SCAN THIS FILE. 2/34 Virus scanners on my end show what I THINK are false positives, personally I RAN THIS and see no ill side effects and monitor my network well. If you feel the least bit threatened or weary about using or downloading this, then please don't. The results don't look like it has been working anyway, I left it here for people to test/play with. Keep that in mind.
This has NOT been tested with the DNA yet, but it is supported, please read the documentation before use.
EDIT: Results don't seem to look good, for this app at all actually. I will leave it if anyone wants to try, but this is the second of a few warnings throughout this post. Don't test it on a phone you want. Although no damages have been reported.
I am not the creator of this one click, but I was told it could be shared freely, as it also describes in the .ZIP contents.
I did not personally try this out myself (My One X is already rooted + S-OFF) so be sure to check it out and read all the documents before trying out this new root exploit.

It did finally pick up my One X after about 10 mins (more like 2), but like I said I'm already rooted. It looks like it supplies a good amount of phones, and with the 3 different methods for rooting, especially the third, hopefully we will see some good results!
I'm not responsible for harm that comes from this file, I have ran and tested it out to SOME EXTENT. Please be aware of this, and like I said, READ THE DOCUMENTATION.
It states it can:
Root Android 2.x
Root Android 3.x
Root Android 4.x
Rooting Phones and Tablets
Supplies S-OFF as well (80% Chance)
So, like I said, try it out and let me know if it works!

That looks so sketchy.

Id rather do it manually than risk bricking my phone with a one click. Haha.

Oh, please do
And I just looked at the app, there was no obvious traces of a virus within it, so id say its safe to run in that respect, whether it f's up your phone or not is another question
Haha cool story.

I got the beer, and extra chairs for those who want to enjoy the show
HTC DROID DNA 5
Like I said, I found it in IRC, talked to the dev a little, he used it personally with friends and made it bigger. It seems buggy to me...
Keep it up!
Didn't justincase and beups ask that no one make one of these for the s off?

If this was built from the ground up, without implementing any of their coding, there's nothing that they, or anyone else can do about it... That's kinda the point of open source.

With THEIR method? Yes.. This is using something completely different. They didn't want their files used in a one click script/program.
My antivirus doesn't like the .exe file....
tested on a few supposedly supported phones, doesnt work, it just shows Looking For... <name of model> and does nothing,
Moved to General as this is not the work of the OP. After reading some of the comments, I am tempted to remove the link and close the thread but I won't just yet.

That's good. The mods will know to keep it or remove it then.

Sounds like a driver issue. Have you setup and tested adb on your phone first?
