hi as im not a dev and havent got a clue how this works, i thought i would ask in here.
it would be very much apreciatet to get the reboot option and reboot to recovery in the shutdown menu back like in some of the p-roms added to 2.3 roms
and would it be possible for someone to make the notification bare menu like i had on my desire which allowed for toggling wifi and other things just by pulling the bar down and pressing a button. like this:
androidfreeware.net/img2/ notification_toggle_android_3.gif
best regards and thx to all the devs for making great roms and tweaks

Yeah, unfortunately none of those are available in the current 2.3.4 roms and these features aren't that easy to implement.
CM7 is on the way though and it has these and many other features built in, so follow the progress of that
The currently available alternatives that you can use on 2.3.4:
Reboot / Recovery / Bootloader options - Quick Boot app from the market (doesn't add those options to shutdown menu, but you can do those reboots from within the app)
Notification power controls - Quick Settings (puts a shortcut to itself in notification), Widgesoid (adds power control to notification, but it's not directly clickable), Power Controls Plus (same as previous), QuickDesk (custom dashboard, probably the best option).
Good luck.
i will do that then but it is some of the most usefull and nice features to have i believe.....
So far I managed to control the button leds (but the touch function has not working yet):
To turn on :
echo 20 > sys/devices/platform/leds-microp/leds/button-backlight-portrait/brightness
To turn off :
echo 0 > sys/devices/platform/leds-microp/leds/button-backlight-portrait/brightness
Anyone know how to make the capacitive buttons work in HC? If it is working, we can use the buttons when we hide the status bar.
Update as of 28th Dec 2011 : Capacitive buttons has been succesfully enabled by LeeDroid on his HC v2.0.0 kernel. (Thanks LeeDroid for your great effort!!!) Required driver for keys was missing in official HTC HC kernel. I hope HTC will include the driver in their next release.
The bottom bar is considered a permanent screen decoration in the same way that capacitive home/menu/etc. buttons below the touchscreen on Android phones are so there is no option to remove the bar, but there is a call that some apps use to darken the bar like some video players so it not intrusive, but you still lose that part of the screen.
There are hacks and apps for rooted HC that can hide the bar. Not sure you can recover the screen size or just darken the bar. Because the bar is at the system level, such a hack might cause issues with a lot of apps. its the same for all devices running honeycomb.
Also how would you get your notifications, clock, quick settings, etc?

You can hide the botom bar using app such as HoneyBar. Hiding the bar really saves space, especially for our small 7" screen. We can enjoy full screen size when browsing, viewing images, watching videos, read ebooks, playing games, etc.
Currently I'm using Button Savior to replace the missing navigation buttons when the bar is hided. But I'm thinking it would be better if we can use the capacitive buttons. (Having 2 sets of capacive buttons is actually a unique feature of HTC Flyer, but it currently useless in HC).

Hiding bar is temporary, we can back to normal like the HoneyBar app do. If the capacive buttons can work on HC, maybe we can make the app to auto enable the buttons when the bar is hided and disable the buttons when the bar back to normal.
Wondering if there is any update on this ?
This seems like a great idea... even if we dont disable to onscreen buttons, there are TONS of uses for the capacitive buttons!
I would love to be able to use the capacitive buttons and have been hoping someone would figure out a way to enable them in HC. Honeybar works great, but 90% of the stuff I need the bar for the capacitive buttons would work fine for and wouldn't cut into our limited screen size.
Just went back to GB due to this. It's a shame It's not a customizable option on HC

I think the key has to be in the code for the pen button.
Obviously its not a standard features in HC since its' hardware specific. We would need all the source code from HTC to compile a new HC ROM which we don't have. Someday this might happen, but not yet. You will get used to the HC implementation.

That's sad to hear, especially considering the HC implementation is pretty ****ty. Many times in HC you only need the home, menu, back buttons. The majority of time the status bar isn't needed.
No source, no buttons. It's just not worth the effort for any dev.

So does that mean we could achieve this if someone brings ICS to the Flyer?
No, the hardware buttons are HTC hardware specifc. You would need HTC source. Goggle has no buttons , therefore the system bar that is omni present.
Everyone needs to understand there are a lot of pieces that must be in place to build a working ROM for a device.
When Google throws out a OS version, it works on zero, nada, nothing, no device in the world.
Then the HW makers (HTC, samsung, etc.) have to add their pieces of software to make it work. Kernel, drivers, bootloader, Sense UI, framework, libraries, etc.
HTC has to take ICS and make it work on the hardware. Then if the hardware is similar enough, you might be able to port the ROM to run on another HTC device. But without the source for the HTC specific pieces , you cannot tweak it very much or fix bugs.
but wait can not search for drivers on Rom 2.3
____no____
I have no idea if this info is at all meaningful or not but the Dell 7" Streak got a Dell approved update to HC 3.2 and they managed to keep the hardware capacitive buttons working. And they are handy, in that I agree. It'd be great if the Flyer/View had them working.

I changed the screen density to over 160... Though Gingerbread ui started, but even there without the sensor buttons... Impossible to navigate

And this is meaningful in what universe???
The buttons are not coming back in HC folks, get over, it. In 3 days use you will forget they were ever there.

Hardware Buttons & Calls on Honeycomb
Dear Devs,
Please is there any hope of getting the hardware buttons on the flyer active on HC? Also is it possible for calls to be made; now that the source code has been released by HTC?
Thanks.
Not sure if this is impossible, easy, or even already accomplished, but coming from CM7 to MIUI there are two CM7 features that I am sorely missing:
1. Lockscreen gestures. I want to secure my device, but I've always hated that with Android you have to get past your "slide this there" lockscreen, THEN enter your pin or draw your pattern before you can get to the phone. With CM7, you can turn off the slides/rotaries/tabs/whatever that normally appear on the lockscreen (so it's just your lockscreen background, clock, and music controls) and set it to unlock when you draw whatever special invisible lockscreen gesture (which I also feel is more secure/less susceptible to onlookers than connecting dots on the Android pattern grid) you specified. This feature is great, and I think a lot of people misunderstand it!
If that isn't possible, does anyone know how you can at least turn off the conventional lockscreen if you have the pattern lock on? I really just hate the redundancy of the two-step unlock process.
2. (Screen off) long press volume-button track skipping. Simple as that. I need to be able to skip tracks without looking at my device (when running, driving, working out, whatever). Even lockscreen music controls don't cut it, because you have to click the screen on, look at it, poke the right button, relock the screen etc. When you're running, being able to long press on the volume up button to skip a track is HUGE.
I'm loving MIUI otherwise. Looking forward to Ace getting a handle on the wakelock, and sound/games/media issues.
As an aside, I do wish Xiamoi would release source code for people to comb through...it seems weird to me that a corporation--Chinese or otherwise--would sink untold dollars/development hours perfecting and making freely available a product that offers no clear monetization strategy. Furthermore, Huawei and Baidu's longstanding cooperation with Chinese Intelligence agencies makes me leery of Chinese corporate interest)
Gestures would be cool especially since on the default lock screen you have over half the screen of nothing.

Just wondering, if you accidentally hit reply, why "submit" the comment? You could have still avoided it.
Just found this flashable MIUI mod for the volume track skipping:
http://forums.miuiandroid.com/showthread.php?7356-MOD-Skip-track-via-volume-press
I haven't given it a shot yet, but if it works, it might be a good one to build into Ace's MIUI (like he inbuilt the extended settings mod).
Still keeping my eyes out for a lockscreen gesture mod.
Really just an observation, but having been on Froyo (Bionix 1.3.1) for nearly two years now, and having missed out on GB, ICS, and JB, I'm curious as to why the option to disable mobile data or "Data network mode" was removed from the power menu option. Yes, I know you can go deep into settings, or install a widget, but I constantly enable and disable my mobile data using the power button as it's incredibly convenient for me. Are there any newer ROMs for the Vibrant that have put that option back into the Power Menu? If not, I guess I'm sticking with Froyo for good.
I don't know of any rom that let you do that. But roms like CyanogenMod and AOKP have toggles on the notification bar, I find that even more convenient than using the power button.

Since Slim Bean utilizes features of CM and AOKP, does it have the same toggle in the notification bar?
You can choose which options you want, WiFi, data, sound, GPS, Bluetooth, airplane, sync, etc.
Paranoid, sitting in a deep sweat...
Hello, tell me please, how can I transfer some features from the stock firmware to custom/clean rom?
Like how does it work at all, is it possible to somehow transfer various functions from one firmware to another and what is needed for this?
For example, in LineageOS you can kill apps on long press back button/back gesture.
Asus Zenfone 8 stock rom have battery care feature, that can set charging limit + turn on steady charging. Tried Magisk module AAC, but I had problems with it and it did not work correctly for me.
There's also Asus stock has very vital feature for me: Quick settings panel style - switch between small circle or large pill(like on screenshot). I really hate this new large ugly pills which have appeared since A12. OmniROM has similar configuration that's allows you reduce these large pills, but this option not so flexible and in result it's still looks too ugly. Tried Power Shade app that can customize this panel and it's work, but it creates its own separate panel and the old one still remains. As a result, you immediately have two panels unfold when you pull it down. And that's horrible. And I didn't find another way to customize it, so only asus stock option work good...
