How to backup the whole ROM included installed Apps to SDCard , so I can restore it whenever I have problems .
thanks
No neee to back up the whole ROM, just apps and data with Titanium Backup Pro is good enough. I usually do it before flash new firmware. Piad version of TBP is rock, need less than 10 to restore 180+ apps. But u need root to use it, either with Chulri's method or Urukdroid..

ok... i'm a pretty smart windows guy. BUT this is my first smart phone which translates to "i'M A DANG NOOB".
so i rooted my phone. started to download apps. and now want to try Das BAMF ROM.
how do is save the apps that i have already downloaded and installed in the stock ROM so that i may apply them to the DasBAMF?
thanks
mark
geeze i feel soo dumb aaargh!
I used Astro to save my apps before i changed my rom- menu, tools, app manager/backup select that apps you want to back up and done.
TitaniumBackup is the way to go. Also, install Clockwork Recovery. Do a nandroid backup before installing a new rom.
Definitely just pay for titanium backup pro and use that. After flashing a Rom just skip setup, open titanium backup and restore everything then restart the phone .
Batch scripts are under backup / restore tabs menu.

I use(d) Titanium Backup Free. In this version you have to confirm every app while restoring. So if u often flash roms, the paid version is a wirthwile investment.
+1 on titanium
Hi
I am about to install Villain rom 2.1 onto my GS2. As per instructions, I have backed up using the app that got installed by the cf root called CWM.
I would lose all my setting etc when I install the rom right? If I want to get it back while keeping the villain rom do i restore from CWM. And will this keep the root and the custom rom.??
Thanks. Please help. ASAP
Yes you will lose your settings, and app data, if you want to save it, use titanium backup and backup user Apps and data.
You can restore anything in white or green, but items in red will most likely cause problems
The backup you made is a nandroid backup which if you restore you will restore your whole old rom.
As far as root, cf root will auto root, and villainrom is rooted so you can just install the superuser app from the market.

You mean on the homescreens etc? Depending on the launcher, you can try backing up twlauncher and restoring it after you flash, but it may not work, so take a nandroid backup before you try.

I'm currently on KI8 CF-rooted version and backed up with Titanium not only my apps but also a lot of the green bracket stuff like calllogs, wlansettings and such.
So my question would be: Would there be any issues if I restore apps + data and systemdata (only green brackets) with Titanium on CyanogenMOD?

Generally:
- Backing up and restoring (third part) apps are ok and can't break something in system (usually )
- Backing up and restoring System -apps, -data isn't recommend because this are the files which are devs working on and folds have their place, so for keeping phone clean and bypass folds don't do it
CHEERS
So this means I should not backup the green bracket data (I would of course not backup any systemapp) with Titanium and restore it in cyanogen, in order for the system to work properly
I would pretty much lose all the customization of my current ki8 system
Hmm it's your choice, but a lot of probs coming because restore more than just installed apps (+and their data).
But if you backup it in KI8 and restore it there it could be work but anyway... I Personally wouldn't do it
CHEERS

I wouldn't know what gift you would accept from me, elephants or humans, so I give you 2 "thanks" instead
DON'T BACKUP SYSTEM DATA, trust me just don't. Backup user apps, that won't bring you any problems.
A little tip: DOn't flash CM7 with the kernel cf root, this because CWM on cf root isnot compatible with CM7. Instead flash this kernel first with odin and then flash CM/ with CWM.

Hope it helps.
Elephants would be cool but to expensive
You're welcome, mate

Hi
I got a cheap LG GT540 a wee while back and now I want to try and install a more recent version of Android (I currently have version 2.1 installed). I think I understand how to do this but the biggest concern I have is that my phone gets bricked and I have to reinstall. The tutorials I have encountered are mostly over a year old and I want to be certain that I can backup the whole image on my phone and recover it. I would be grateful if you could please confirm what the current best ROM Backup/recovery app to do this?
The best way if via Nandroid backups from your recovery.
(On CWM Recovery: Backup&Restore->Backup or Backup&Restore->Restore)
A Nandroid will give you a full image of everything, Titanium Backup will allow you to pick and choose what you do or don't restore. For both you need a rooted device.
Yeah, with Titanium Backup you can backup/restore the apps and settings you want. It´s very useful if you went to another ROM like MIUI or so.
I always use CWM recovery and Titanium Backup. Safe and sound
I just use a nandroid back up.
Titanium back up can extract bits from a nandroid backup as well.
in the play store u can even get apps backing up ur call lists and sms
Thanks everybody for replying.
I had problems trying to backup ROM, got impatient and finally managed to upgrade to CyanogenMod v6. It wasn't the strategy I had in mind but finally got there in the end!!
My Backup Pro is a good application!!
+1 for Titanium Backup
CWM is what I always use.
CWM is the best...
some app can't restored with titanium backup...
I usually just use the Nandroid backup inside CWM.
I am also using titanium backup (paid version), but I am told not to restore the system data of the previous ROM after updated to a new ROM, because the system data of the previous ROM will cause instability to the new ROM.
I am doing automated backups with Titanium (paid version), and I also make nandroid backup every now and then.
Can Anyone give me the .apk link of a backup/restory app? I looked for one in the play store..but they all are paid..I want to root..but dont have a credit card..please help

I'm also using the titanium backup, but you need the pro version to access some features. I'm satisfied with it.
So I must buy it? There is no free rooting and back up/restoring app? Is Titanium the best one?

Hi all,
I think it's time for me to clean my s3, I have the latest ELKC rom, but the device is too laggy and overall experience is not as good as before.
What is the best way to backup and restore the device that after a factory reset and reflash the rom I can get clean system files and all my data and configurations back as it was ?
I know thet there is 2 major ways to do so. one is with CWM and the other one with Titanium Backup.
If i'll do CWM backup and afterwards, do only data restore, will that do the trick ?
Thanks
Titanium backup is best. At least you can choose what to restore.
