Anyone know how I can get google apps, or at least the Market, on this? Preferably without ADB, since it doesn't seem to cooperate with my system. Root explorer's easy enough.
I flashed with zip over Auto Nootered 1.0.1 and everything works fine now. But the issue is that I cannot access Clockwork Recovery any more. I tried Power + N button, also boot to recovery from Rom Manager but it simply reboots back to home screen.
I tried flashing via Rom Manager again. It shows that I am currently running Clockwork Recovery 3.0.0.5 but yet reboots to home screen. Without CWR, I cannot restore the backup I took. Please help.
Can you share how this is different from samuels version. His froyo is 0.2 with gapps. Not trying to be a smart alec...would just like to understand.
Thanks

Ok. But the iomonster version is to be booted from an SD card, right? My nandroid backup is also on the sd card. I believe I should use a blank SD to create the CWR bootable card. So how can I boot CWR from sd and access the nandroid backup as well?

After you make the bootable version just put the nandroid folder on the sd card

Pandora and YouTube are broken in the NF 0.5.9 release. Cicada said the other day he's hoping to have a new version out soon that fixes those.

I am having the same problem. The bootable recovery isn't working, for me. I can't access recovery, no matter what I do.
I installed a custom rom and when it's on set up it say please insert a sim card..
I have try 3 different sim card and it still says that. Can any one help me cause i hate the s***y 2.1 rom
I had that issue only when i did a nandflash restore after i flashed the rom. Or u have change your wireless settings for which ever sim card u put in or search for a network of u can on the phone. I hope this helps in some way.
Tell us here your steps on how u flashed the ROM. Then i can have a idea what u did wrong.

I downloaded the rom extracted it to my backup on xrecvoery. Then I wiped my data and the rest. I restored it to the bluespark and started up all fine but didn't read my sim card

First off, what do you mean by extracted. I hope you left the zip file together. The zip file is flashed through the xrecovery's pick a zip file I think. That's what I do.
What rom are you flashing. Did you mention bluespark?
Second, what did you restore?
I am still new to this too, BUT I have had clean rom flashing for a while now. I haven't bricked a phone yet? Knock on wood.
I got a custom rom then unziped it in the backup folder of xrecovery(they said for me to do this on the custom rom website) after i click restore on xrecovery and restored to the cutsom rom (Blue spark) . everything worked fine but it didnt read the sim card.

Oh god that's not how you do it at all....
As said earlier, you choose install custom zip and pick the whole zip, you don't extract anything. Also why put it in the backup folder? Leave it on the root of the sd card so its easy to find.
Where ever you were reading info from gave you some horrible misinformation!
On this website about blue spark.
I have gotten free x10 working on my x10 by unziping with xrecovery but it say not signal.
Take the zipped folder from the download and put the folder directly to the sd card. Then go to xrecovery. If u do that it should work. Wats ur baseband for freex10 2.2? It should be .54. Thats the ending numbers. Baseband is very important

I modified the official 1.2 update to allow CWM to flash them. You can use these to upgrade to 1.2 or to return to stock.
There are two files. One replaces CWM with the stock recovery (good for going back to stock). The other doesn't replace CWM (but will replace uboot).
Other than that they are identical to the update from B&N.
update-nc-stock-1.2-keepcwm-signed.zip
update-nc-stock-1.2-signed.zip
Please note neither one of these are rooted yet.
Just curious as to if this is rooted or just fixed to allow use of CWM?
Nevermind just read the full post!!
So just to make sure, I could use the one zip to return to full stock but with the 1.2 update? Also will this work if I have CM7 and CWM on my emmc? So reboot into CW, format \system and \data then flash the update-nc-stock-1.2-signed.zip, then Reboot. At that point, I should be 100% 1.2 stock, sound about right?
I thinking about returning to stock and just run CM7 for my SD if this is an options.
Thanks,
Derek.

Assuming you haven't fooked up any paritioning by using the "dual-boot" stuff you can return to 100% stock by doing the folllowing:
Download the update-nc-stock-1.2-signed.zip above
Flash the zip with CWM (either from emmc or sdcard)
Use CWM to factory reset the device (wipe /data and /cache)
Reboot into 100% stock froyo
If you have modified your partitions this will not work.
This won't work off of an sd right?
I'd like to modify this so it just installs to my dual boot partition.
I've done this before with flashing kernels, but there are more partitions here to take care of.
I figure if I'm going to change the updater script to mount the correct block partitions then I should also have it wipe /data and /cache on the secondary partition.
Any ideas on syntax?
sassafras
Thanks
Once we have a rooted version I'll probably check it out for fun.

But then I'm stuck with stock froyo - I can't go back to CM7 after I've satisfied my curiosity, right?
Hmmm, have to think about that......then, again, maybe not.

Please post MD5's of these so that we can be sure that the download was successful (some may want to store the file for later use).

I guess I wasn't clear the first time: if I use this method, am I stuck with B&N's version of Froyo until someone figures out how to root this one, or can I just reflash CM7? And I'm not sure I understand the difference between both of the zips that nemith has produced.
In any case, thanks nemith - I always appreciate the work that the devs do!

If you dont like this, just boot into a bootable clockwork recovery and flash cm7 or whatever you want. You wont be stuck on this.
One zip removes Clockwork Recovery and puts the stock recovery back. The other leaves Clockwork Recovery intact.
I'd assume, leaving it intact allows you to flash back to any backups or any other Rom if incase you do not like the official build.
I'm at work so I'm unable to test it out.
Or you can always just use a bootsble SD with clockwork on it to reflash whatever ron or backup you have.

Any way you could make something would allow you to flash 1.2 onto a secondary parttion for those of us who are dual booters?
So Ive got this thing rooted but I for the life of me cannot get the market to work. I have the vending.apk and googleservicesframework.apk under /system/app but market will not show up in my app drawer on the stock or adw launcher. Under manage applications, market or googleservicesframework arent there either. Does the nook have other dependencies? If anyone with some experience could throw some suggestions my way. ADB isnt currently working without the driver. Ive added other apps that are showing up and working perfectly.
Did you modify the build.prop?

Nope didnt touch it, im usually devving for the evo, so modding that isnt normally needed for gapps. What would need to be modified in the build.prop?
The device code will have changed and prevent market access. Try pulling the device code from a froyo device with market access like Droid X.

You will put the theme on your SD card but before you flash any theme you need to make sure that its updated to be used on Comrom v 2.1 otherwise you will have issues. I think the only theme i saw that was done so far for 2.1 is Crysis Revolution v4.0 *Community ROM 2.1!* *6.20.11
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1037369
You can also check GrainOSand's themes as he is supposed to be updating his for 2.1
That's the theme I was looking at lol . I figured that it needed to be 2.1. Just one more question do I need to wipe any of the Davik caches or any thing else. I noticed some said to others didn't wasn't sure if it was a required step.
if you can't till this is my first time theming a phone
Is the CWM from the latest rom manager (blue, version 5.0.20) good to go for all your ROM and kernel flashing / nandroid needs? I knew the older versions had issues but been reading that the latest version is fixed.
I been reading bits and pieces would like XDA opinions.

Try it and tell us.
I don't see a reason to flash something different in place of -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204500
since it already works fully without problems.
Depends if you want to take risks or not... Romracer's works just fine.
after I unlocked and rooted, I installed CWM rom manager and installed CWM recovery 5.0.2.0 from the rom manger and worked perfect, I have done about 3 back-ups and has work perfect
It's working and now supports sdcard & internal sdcard.

It also supports ext-4 (I believe romracers does too) so its good for those looking to flash CM7 pre beta 4
yep turns out its the 'recommended' one for CM7 so I'm going with it for now.
cheers

Confirmed? I did a backup a couple days ago from in rom manager to test it, and it just backed up to internal sd with no prompts. Perhaps you're talking about from directly booting into recovery? In that case, pass, I'll stick with rom racer.

As of today, RomManager's CWM does give you the option to choose the external sd card but it doesn't actually work. So internal only still. And RomRacer's recovery does NOT support ext-4, only ext-3 as far as I'm aware.
