Hey guys.... unrooted undeodexed Atrix here.
I can't download Galaxy On Fire 2, because I have only 664 MB application storage space, even though I have over 6 GBs of space in the internal phone memory.
Anyway I can borrow from that space for apps?
Try this ------>
Settings > SD card and phone storage > Storage location > Change to SD card

You dont have to buy an SD card, there is already one built into your Atrix. You are thinking of an EXT SD card. Follow the above instructions or find an app to manage the install location(s).

When I followed the instructions it told me there was 0 kb on my SD card. I tried downloading the game and it gave me the same 'read error' message.
Which apps can I use on a non-rooted phone?
You don't need to root. Try formatting the internal memory and rebooting. Or use app2sd.
Sent from my Motorola Atrix 4G on the network with the most backhaul, whatever that is. This post might have errors as I hate touchscreen keyboards.

There are many "app2sd" apps, find one you like. Just curious, how many apps do you have installed?

Buying an sdcard is almost 100% necessary nowadays just to get the best functionality, but I was referring to the internal sdcard on the Atrix.
Yeah that's a lot of installed apps if you're out of room. I have dungeon defenders and galaxy on fire 2 along with probably over 30 apps and I have never received a message like that.
But thats just my 2 cents

Has anyone been able to successfully move an app from the internal storage to an sd card on the NT? I have tried using App2sd and Astro file manager to move apps, but every time I move one, it breaks the app and I end up have to reinstall it to the main storage.
How can I move or initially install apps to my sd card?
Thanks in advance.
Moves, but disappears
SuperToolbox moves them to the SDcard nicely, and they work until I reboot. Then they are GONE!
Is there a cure for this?
Apps2SD/ZDBox?
Has anyone had any better luck with this? Both Apps2SD and ZDBox break the app. And at least in the case of ZDBox, the application never even shows up on the SD card when I do a search.
Had to ask: Why would you want to move an app to SD? I understand that the nook has sufficient storage space to handle a lot (something like 13GB) of apps.

in all honesty it weird that you would want to install apps on to your SD card since you basically have 13GB of access for apps. Installing apps from your SD card goes into the data folder on the NT if i am not mistaken, and apps take very little space unless you are downloading games which have like additional content that takes like 1gb of space. Even then you should still have sufficient storage...
you guys know that we can only use 1 gig of all that internal storage, right? because the other 12 gigs are dedicated to Barnes and Noble content...

Have you read any of the threads on the partitioning of the device?
As far as I can figure it, the GT Note comes with 16GB that allows 2GB for app storage.
Q1. Does this include the DATA for those apps. For example, a game with 1GB of data -- where does it store this 1GB of data?
I have bought and installed a 64GB SD Card. Fully recognized, formatted and
working great. I understand how to copy my own music and video onto that card but a few questions:
Q2. How can I persuade the GT to use the SD Card instead of the 2GB Partition?
Q3. Or at the very least, to use it for APP DATA?
I guess, I'm trying to figure out how to get the GTN to optimally use the GB I have.
Thoughts?
Most of the big apps and games by default put their data in the sd card. So dont worry about that!
Also check out APP2SD on the market, it should help u! Cheers!

You actually have 11gb of space available for games music docs etc. on the internal SD card. Go to settings>Applications>Storage use. At the top the tab that says "All" is showing you everything you have stored on internal SD card. At the bottom of that screen it says system storage, and the second number is showing you how much room you have available for system data in the partitioned 2 GB of reserved system space. If you click the "On SD card" tab at the top it will show you your apps installed and how much of the 11+GB of space on the internal SD card is remaining.
App data from games like gameloft etc will be stored on the internal sd card NOT the external (removable) sd card.
There is a way to swap the external sd to become your internal as shown in the GT-N700 forum here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1454753
I don't see why it should not work on the att note too.
So basically what you have is 2GB of space partitioned for system files. And 11+ GB of space for Apps, music and whatnot.

That's true. And not in that 2GB of reserved space but in the 11GB of space on the internal card.
very useful info all - thanks...will try the N700 hack too.

I got around this quite differently on my last phone. I moved all the gameloft game data to a folder on my external SD and just created a symlink to it in the original location. I see it as sort of a cleaner way.

I tried it and now I don't have access to neither my external or internal SD cards. Left a message on the thread to see if anyone has any ideas. I made a backup onto my external card, but because it won't mount, I can't copy it back over. Restored the phone, but it didn't help. Even typed in the info from the original "AT&T" file and that didn't work. Both types of storage are showing "Unavailable." Some of the info in the script lines is different from the international version.

Oops! Love your sig by the way. I assume you pulled the battery.
I know this issue has been covered many times on the forum but I couldn't find a proper way to solve it.
I am having a Galaxy S2 running official jelly bean 4.1.2.
I don't know why Samsung has partition the internal storage this bad :/
It only gives us 2 GB for installing apps from the play store and currently I'm running out of Internal storage because I keep a lot of apps on my phone. I can't even move any app (not even a single app) to USB Storage. I always get the error that "Unable to move app. Not enough storage space."
I got around 6-7 GB free in my USB Storage so there is a lot of space there.
Is there any way to increase the Internal storage (2 GB) to a bigger size 3 GB or 4 GB or a solution so that I can transfer the apps to the USB storage?
Thanks in advance.
Usb. Is were the Rom and kernel ie running system is. Sd card is were you keep apps and things and ext sd is well ext sd card. If you have 7gb free then you put them there. Why would you want to put them in Usb. ? Usb is for running system not for apps. Sd card is for that.

Okay then What I meant is that how can I move the apps which are installed in my Internal storage(2GB) to the usb storage(or as u defined SD card) Since it always gives me the error "Unable to move app. Not enough storage space"
I dont have an external SD card plugged in my Galaxy S2. Just the internal 16 gigs. is all I have
What space is left on both pls. only part of the apps will be moved to Usb. Why do you want to fill up Usb??

On my phone, if apps are moved to sd they exist on the external SD card. Maybe that's why it says you don't have enough space, because you don't have an external sd card? I guess any small one would do, no need to splash out for a 64GB one...

I got your point mate. You meant that I must need to have a external micro SD card to move my apps?
And in this case I can't move them to my USB Storage?
One thing more, I could move my apps to usb storage when I was using Super Nexus 2.0 ROM..

The internal storage is almost full just some MB's left there out of 2GB. And the USB storage got enough 6GB-7GB left. I want to fill up the USB so that I can download more apps because at this moment,my internal memory is completely full and I cant download any app from the Play store so that's why I want to move them to the USB storage.

I just checked on my phone: with external sd card I can move apps to sd, without I get the message you mentioned. So either use an external sd card or a ROM that allows you to use the internal sd card.
Okay thanks for your help.
I guess I need to buy a 16 gb micro SD card. Can anyone tell me how much a good micro SD card costs? With a speed that won't be causing problems so that I can play games easily without affecting the speed.
Don't cheap out on them. Sandisk are best. 16gb £20-30

storage space is running out
i am using jellybean 4.2.2 gti9100 nexus rom on my S2 shw m250k.....i have now shortage problem in my storage(rom 2GB).......but i cant understand the storage info.......(82.81MB+726MB+2.95MB is not equals to 1GB)... ...i have not so big apps in my phone.....only 90 system apps and small games....can anyone help
Well...
I've got a moto E and a 8GB SD card. I have been using MM(AICP) for like months and I really love the ROM and its battery backup but the thing is I'm running out of storage space.. The system itself takes like 1.2 GB out of 2.1 GB available internal storage and few basic apps - I'm full...
I have only 1 game and would like to try more like I used to but can't download as play stores says I'm out of space... Updating apps have been an issue too.. I want to fix this by buying a Samsung 32GB EVO+ class 10 (20MB/s Write Speed) and use it as my internal storage...
Worth it?
Anyone using their SDCards as internal storage? Bugs or Good Experience?
Should I buy or go back to CM11?
-Thanks
Yes. It will be worth it and the problem you are facing is faced by everyone.
So is your phone rooted? If not search xda for methods to root your phone. Then use Link2sd. You can find detailed guide on how Link2sd works in xda itself. if not then i can help.
How link2sd works? In short:-
It requires 2 partitions of your sd card (you will know how to partition your sd in every link2sd guide) one partition for media storage like songs videos images etc and the other will work as internal memory. For this you will require rooted device. And also you will need Foldermount which will enable you to move the obb or game data from internal to external sd. And root is necessary for this too. Hope it helps.
Marshmallow has inbuilt feature of using Memory Card as Internal Storage.
I am using it from a month and honestly no bugs.
The only problem is that you have to format your SD card in the phone itself to use again as portable storage device.
The second thing is that If you format your phone or start using another ROM your SD card data will be of no use and you will have to format it again.
Hope I helped you.
Thanks both of you... I should go for a 32GB class 10 then?

Now... I've got the SD Card. What should I prefer? Link2SD or Marshmallow's feature?
I want to get the best performance out of SD card... Plus hassle free operation.

marshmallows feature since it automatically moves all apps to SDcard.
One more thing link2sd will create partition out of your SD card while marshmallow will automatically format your SD card as internal storage..
Marshmallow feature is strongly preferred.
Hope I solved your query.?
Well I've been using this hybrid method lol. I partitioned my SD card so that - one partition is used for marshmallow's feature and rest space as portable storage
Didn't wanted to go all in as the feature encrypts the entire card and makes it unusable on other devices.
My phone's running smoother than before maybe coz of the Class 10 UHS-1(though UHS-1 speeds aren't supported by my device) card I've been using. I'm getting ~11.63 MB/s which is faster than phone stock internal storage(~11MB/s).
Thanks for all you suggestions and inputs!
i, my current internal storage is almost full (80%) and that has made my phone quite slow. I dont have anything major in internal storage except the apps and whatsapp data. All pictures and music are on the 8gb memory card. I was wondering if i could transfer all my apps to the memory card. Is it possible to do that and install new apps on memory card rather than internal storage?

There's absolutely no problem with pushing apps to the SD card. Open Settings -> Apps -> Choose the App you want to push to SD card -> storage -> change. With this process you can nearly move all of your Apps to the SD card. This will free up your space ^^

This is because some of the apps are pre-installed like Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, Clean Master... for these you won't be able to see the "Change Storage", in this case you can uninstall the pre-installed Apps and re-install it. But make sure your default Storage location is selected as "SD Card" instead of "Internal Storage".
For the rest of the Apps you can change the Storage... I have also done the same with many apps and freed up almost 2 GB of Space.
I hope it will be helpful to you.

i dont think emui will allow you to change app download storage to sd card, you have to root and be running on a custom rom (based on stock android, may be.) to easily move apps to sdcard, .
or you can manage the sapce by clearing app datas for not so important apps, clearing junk files, move all your media to sdcard , thats the best option..
