Try changing to a different phone on your line(esn swap), or call customer service and ask them to reset your DMU.

[Q] no 3g on Eris?

Hi all....I just upgraded my phone from an Eris to an incredible. I gave my Eris to my brother to use and he's been having a problem with 3g. Before I have this phone to him, I flashed xtrsense 5.0 to it, which I've used before and know works fine on that device.....after the flash, I used it personally for a few hours and 3g worked fine. I shut the phone off and activated my incredible. When he received the phone yesterday, be turned it on and there was no 3g symbol in the status bar. If he goes into the settings, 3g is checked and is frayed out and says turning on. He activated the data package on the line yesterday, but by today he still has no data connection. This means no market downloads. He is no to Android and doesn't know much about root and I'm trying to give him guidance. I talked him through a Rom flash and it didn't fix the problem. I'm currently having him download a Rom that flashes the radio and I will walk him through that process to see if it helps. I could definitely use some suggestions as to what you guys think could solve this problem. At first I thought it was on the network end but now idk. And as a side note he still has service and can make phone calls and send and receive texts, just no data. Any help greatly appreciated!

You could try to reactivate with *228 option 1. If that doesn't work, make a Nandroid backup and flash the Flashback21 ROM to bring it back to stock, do a factory reset (which will go through activation again on first boot), see if it then works. If not, bring it to Verizon - it's now completely stock, and should work and Verizon will not deny tech support because it is rooted. When you verify that it is working again, re-root, Nandroid Backup (just in case), Nandroid Restore what you saved from xtrSENSE, and see if it works.

Just flashed flashback (the one that flashes radio as well). Back to stock with no problems but still no 3g?....if he goes to the wireless and network settings, mobile network constantly says turning on and will flash between saying on for a split second and then turning on for a few more seconds

Yep, this sounds like an account problem. Call Verizon, tell them what is happening, they should be able to reset his account. Or go to a store and have them do it.

Hey just as an update he took it back to Verizon and they fixed it.....didn't go with him so idk what they did but its working now.....let the lesson be learned, if you're technically uninclined its very easy to unrest your phone and make Verizon fix it as long as you bought the phone less than a year ago!

No network or sim is not ready

Hi guys I got a big problem, hope u can help.
I have this phone for a couple month already, when I was still running stock I discovered my cell phone would tell me I got no signal. Turning on air plane mode and then turning it off didn't help to get back signal. So I had to turn off the phone and turn it back on to get back my signal. Problem is I never know when it happens until my wife asks me y my cell phone is switched off. So I went ahead rooting it and I flashed a rom on it. But problem isn't gone. I still lose signal but on this rom it shows me full bars, only cannot make phone calls,SMS,and gprs. Tells me no network or no sim card is inserted. I always have to turn off and turn it back on. Now that it is rooted with whatever firmware I can't bring it to Samsung store to fix
please any suggestions?

Sounds more like a carrier problem. I'd ring them. Check your APN settings too.
Hi,
I have similar issues. Doesn't matter where I am and how good the network coverage is on all other phones around, my SGS2 keeps changing the coverage icon, from 1 to 4 "sticks" of indicator, or to no coverage state (crossed circle icon).
Sometimes the wireless is not working also, or juts gets very weak signal, though the signal is good on other devices near by.
When I try to turn data network (by pressing the power button and selecting data network activated from the pop up) sometimes it's not even showing the data network icon in the system bar (top of the screen), it's like being disabled data network or something.
I can answer a call and stay on conversation for no longer than a minute, then the signal goes dead and the phone just freezes, when I try to tap red button to end the call - no reaction, I have to turn the phone off.
When I try to make a call it just says "dialling" for ages with no result and eventually the phone freezes, so I have to turn it off and back on again.
Sometimes it turns off itself though the battery was showing almost full icon.
I went to O2 store, they gave me new SIM card, but it didn't help, so it's not a SIM issue.
I did a full (hard) reset - no help.
The guy from the O2 store told me, that I can root my phone, and I will not loose the warranty (I purchased the phone only one month ago), only thing I need to do is to revert it back to original state before bringing it (in case of hardware replacement).
But if it is not a software issue at all, so what's the point of rooting and having all the hustle, then reverting, etc... Can there be some hardware issues? I don't know: antenna, RAM, CPU, whatever???
I hope I've explained everything clearly enough. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
What firmware are you on have you tried to Upgrade via KIES .
Rooting will void warranty and will also increase the custom rom counter from zero . Yes they can be reset in most cases .
Rooting will not fix anything at all .
Network is first check are you getting problems at all locations .
When in the O2 store did they check the signal ???
Choice return to service centre
Flash a stock Samsung firmware via XDA possible to also try a different modem via XDA .
None of these will fix hardware problem .
Personally i would factory reset the phone and check all the network details are correct on the phone then return to service .

when you have this problem check if you have an imei (*#06#) if the response is empty then you have to reflash...
Hi all again,
after posting my previous post I phoned my friend during a lunch break at work. We had a quite long conversation and the quality was perfect. Then on my way home I turned on data network and enabled GPS (LOL), then launched navigation app and it took me home without any bugs (I know my way home though I did it only for phone testing).
Now back home, sitting in my room and my SGS2 starts to fool around again: unable to turn on data network, poor wireless signal (but it's good on my PC), the network coverage icon turns into "no signal" state and comes back to normal again all by itself.
I will definitely test my phone again tomorrow on my way to work and in the office. But it seems like there's something wrong with the place that I live. I've moved in recently and must admit, that all my problems with the phone started only then. And I didn't noticed any bugs while at work or anywhere down town.
Meanwhile is there any way to scan/check the area around my flat? Maybe there's something wrong with the in house router, or maybe to many routers in surrounding flats, or some other equipment/hardware things messing up, or just a mysterious house blocking O2 network and hacking the phone LOL??
The only strange thing is that I'm having not just a network/coverage/wireless issues, but the phone freezes, battery full-empty-full-empty status randomly, etc...
BTW, my details:
Model: GT-I9100 (not a I9100G)
PDA: XWKJ1
PHONE: XXKI4
CSC: O2UKJ1
Android version: 2.3.5
Updated via KIES about a month ago, was working good until now. KIES says that at the moment I have the latest firmware.

I found this on another forum. It works on my Galaxy note, but not on my wife's Motorola Droid Razr.
So My data went out today for like 4 hours, not surprised as the data outages and what not, but called anyways just to see if maybe it was something else. I must say, I got the best CS Rep I have ever gotten with any company. He spoke better English than I did and I'm an american.
He was VERY knowledgeable and I could tell he wasn't going by script when it came to helping me. He knew what he was doing. He went through the basic trouble shooting things and what not but he also informed me while on the topic of APN settings, that Straight Talk currently has a new MMS Proxy that they have just deployed for their BYOD AT&T and customers using Android devices and that the 66.209.11.33, is not the current one anymore and they are urging customers who call in with data issues, specifically MMS, to change over to the new MMS proxy and that they are updating their systems with new proxies and servers which is why their data systems are a bit crazy right now and that their MMS Proxy is one that has been completely implemented into their system now.
The new MMS proxy is mms2.tracfone.com
I have confirmed, that for the past 2 days with incoming only MMS not working, that this new MMS Proxy does indeed work.
He also said for customers that are having issues with data, that it is HIGHLY recommended that a soft reboot, basically turning the phone off and back on, doesn't properly disconnect your phone from the network and doesn't so a clean re-connection and reset to your account and establishment with the network.
He said to pull the battery out of the device and also remove the sim card. He explained that some phones have a lower power backup source built into the phones, especially higher end ones, that even with the battery removed for a short period of time, this power supply still allows your SIM card ID to remain registered on the network. This same power supply is what allows your phone to keep time and data and you're registration on the network. He said pulling the sim card out completely removes your SIM card connection with the network completely so when you turn your device back on it completely re-registers on the network with a clean refresh. He seemed to be pretty creditable for his knowledge and went on to explain other beyond technical troubleshooting techniques that they try to get you to perform when you call in.
Anyways I figured I might share this with some of you. I wish I could have gotten his direct number so I could just call him with any future problems, as I have never been helped with such quality as he provided.

[Q] Mobile Data Not Working - Galaxy S3

Hey,
I was playing around with a few Custom ROMS today, and my mobile data stopped working. The APN settings are correct. I have flashed multiple ROMS but no luck. Even stock ICS ROM. I think I have the wrong modem/baseband combination.
My phone show H+ or 3G icon, but as soon as I try to use the internet, it vanishes. Wifi works fine.
Any ideas?
Seems like incorrect apn.. but you already say it's correct..
Try to Flash the stock modem..

Yes the APN is correct.
Could someone possibly tell me which firmware I should flash? I purchased my phone from Pakistan, but I'm not sure which region it is for. Will that make a difference?
Something happening with this phone. I had the same issue a few weeks later.
I tryed almost every modem available unsuccessful. Just my local carier can solve. I didn't known what they did, but solved until now.
Although your apn settings may be correct, they may need updating.
This sometimes happes in the uk.
Maybe if you tried deleting the apn settings out and then ringing your carrier network up, and asking them to sent your correct apn settings to your phone, maybe this could help.
Its not a dead cerainty but always got to be worth a shot mate

Had the same issue with my GS3 (I9300) after switching from those Straight Talk Bastards to AT&T:
Whereas Straight Talk simply f*cked up b/c of a collapse of their data network, so I assume (with nobody at ST saying a word for 2 days, of course.. ), it turned out that AT&T actually had deleted my new account - by mistake - after just one week of 'happy browsing'.
A trip to the local AT&T store solved the mystery and got me up & running again.
Unfortunately, though, it took the AT&T folks a while to figure it out, as they are not used to unbranded/international/ unlocked phones wanting to join their US network. (Don't even try to solve this over the phone, if you have a choice).
Kudos to the AT&T staff, though, as they got the problem resolved eventually. It definitely helped a great deal that my phone had been working just fine on their network just a week ago, so I was able to stand my ground and insist that the problem was at their end.
One of the reps - apparently without a clue - tried to tell me all sorts of BS, e.g. that the I9300 would not work on AT&T; that some Samsung phones supposedly don't work with their network... bla bla blub blub...
Fortunately, I knew better and told him so. Otherwise, he may have successfully gotten rid of me; making me search for the problem someplace else (a.k.a. giving me the run-around or making me chase my tail, etc. :banghead: )
Thanks to xda (and the Internet), however, I had all the knowledge necessary to make sure they get it back to work. Now I'm browsing the web again with 7Mbps Down/3Mbps Up speeds, using AT&T's really fast HSPA+ network here in the Chicago Northern Suburbs (close to O'Hare)... Yay!
Good Luck with finding the problem with your data loss issue!!
P.S.: Let me know if you need my APN settings; just for comparison (.. in case you are in the US, too).
Cheers,
AA

Search for some different modems. Just make sure they're specific for your region and test some out until you find one with the best results for you.
