you do not tell what mods you have done. there are mods like the cryanogen where people complain about FC problems. just repair your phone using SEUS and start again./
Try clearly elaborate what mods u hv made
Sent from my U20i using XDA App
it's better if you root using superoneclick ...
and follow step-by-step instruction whhen you trying to install custom rom..
for now just flash your u20i using SEUS..
If you are installing cyanogen, factory wipe, then try again.

Hey check ur firmware version.
Settings-> about phone.
If u see firmware 2.1.1.0.A.6, then rooting by z4root won't work. It ddnt work for me either.
Pls use super one click root method its very easy and simple.
Ur phone shall be rooted and if u still have a problem running apps like Titanium backup just goto superuser delete the permission allowed for that app and reboot. It shall work fine.
Incase it still dsnt remove the app. Remove any permissions for it in superuser and reinstall
Hope this will help you

Hi there... after long i finally updated frm 2.1 to 2.2(freex10 beta4) ... i would like to knw if i can restore my sms i backedup with sebackup???? Do i hav to flash back to 2.1 to get it?? Any help would b appreciated...
Sorry if this has been discussed b4.. i did search but didnt find..
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Pretty sure you can't. If i'm right then SEbackup is Sony Ericsson's? If so then it can only be used on an SE Rom. (only 2.1)
If you really need those SMS' back then you'd probably have to go back to 2.1 (someone else should verify though).
In future, i recommend something like SMS Backup +
Use MyBackup Root. It'll work between any android versions. With SE app you can only restore if you can install the app which is built for 2.1

Thanks guys.... off to flashing 2.1 rom for sms..

Maybe you can use Spritebackup. I have that and I've seen that is so similar to SE original backup and restore. The only problem is that you must buy it...

Yes you can do that its called apps2sd. Is a standard feature on 2.2+ (froyo) roms. There was a thread about how to do it on 2.1 by you'll need to search or flash a custom rom that's 2.2+ and supports it.

Hey guys,
I need help on how to root my pride and joy x10i...
Could you lead me in the right direction with regards to best roms with things like speed and battery power..and no making me lose any of my stuff
Colin

Root with flashtool which is in Androxyde's thread in dev section. All the ROMs of each version have similar performance and battery will be more affected by your apps/settings so its all just preference. Flashing a new ROM will wipe out all your apps and data but you can restore a lot. Just read and figure out what you want.

This ROM here. The one in my signature is good too but its not as complete as this one yet. But this will erase data. You can use titanium backup to save apps and its settings which you can get from the market before you flash any roms. Keep posting here if you need help getting a phone ready for flashing.
Rendeiro2005 makes this one I posted.

Instead of stock apps you need to use the stock rom from Sony. Try your country and operator specific ROM's from the following link.

Hit the thanks button if the answer was helpfull.
Yes but I don't want to lose all my apps and things I have on my phone... Wouldn't this require me to do a recovery install, or??

Can someone help me find all the stock apps please?
Sent from my X10a using XDA Premium App
I'm sorry but why do you need stock apps to update through Sony? It doesn't make sense. What are you trying to do exactly?
I want to update my phone to the latest x10 update, and in order to do that, you need all the original stock apps on your phone like timescape and others which I removed with titanium backup to free up space on m my phone. Somehow, they disappeared from my list of backed up apps, and without those you cannot update through pc companion. So it's REALLY important. I know someone had a thread posted here before with all the stock apps for download, but I can't find it anywhere... Can someone help pls?

No you don't need any stock apps to do an update.
You need to flash a generic firmware with FlashTool and do it with user data wipe unchecked.
I've never used flashtool before, and I want to stick with the regular pc companion updating. Is this possible?
Sent from my X10a using XDA Premium App
It is possible, PC companion/SEUS would just read your phone.
Because I remember the last time I updated, I tried without reinstalling all the stock apps and it just told me there are no updates available. When I reinstalled them, it updated my phone... Thats why it's really important that I get all those apps back...

Then just flash back to stock and check again.
Anyways, I don't think the SEUS or PC companion recognises your phone by reading the apps in it, instead it should read your firmware number, baseband and kernel version.
In flashing back to stock, wouldn't I lose all my current apps though??
Sent from my X10a using XDA Premium App
Yes, and you still don't need any stock apps to do a flash

But I don't want to lose all my apps... Are you sure I don't need the stock apps to update through pc companion? I wonder why it wouldn't update it for me last time until I reinstalled them all... I also remember someone at xda mentioning that you do need them or sony won't update it...
Sent from my X10a using XDA Premium App
YOU DO NOT NEED STOCK APPS TO UPDATE!!!! Don't you think all of us would be having the same problem as you if that were the case?
You KNOW that even if you flash via PC Companion you will LOSE all your apps and data when you update it right?
Here are your options:
Your phone is rooted right? Download Titanium Backup from the market and backup all your apps. You will have all your apps and data saved. Now update. Once your phone is updated, re-root your phone. Download Titanium Backup again from the Market. Restore your apps and data.
An alternative method is in xrecovery. Backup your current rom in Xrecovery. Once done, update it. Once done, root, install xrecovery and advanced restore your data.
If you want to use PC Companion, without connecting your phone, press update and go through the steps manually, i.e. find your phone and so forth and then connect your phone when it asks you to. If it says you have the latest software, press REPAIR. If that doesn't work, just flash via Flashtool!!!!! If you are so hell bent on using PC companion, just repair via PC Companion after you flashed it with Flashtool.
There have been updates via PC Companion (it's up to v2.0 now) and I think it can tell if you customized your phone a la rooting or custom roms.
Ok thanks. Is using seus better than pc companion? I truthfully want to put gingerbread on my phone, but don't know which rom is best for that on xda... Can you help me? Which is most stable? And how long is the process?? Thanks, much appreciated

Instead of asking and writing here, go try it out. It's much simpler than all this back and forth in questions. It's very simple, start SEUS press accept ToU, chose your device (X10) and do a install. And yes you will lose your data when updating or re-flashing your phone.
