I've been meaning to ask this question, first in the Hero section, and now here, since this is my new phone.
Back when google introduced the backup service, that's tied to one's google account, it seemed to work flawlessly. Whenever I flashed a new rom, once I connect to my wifi (since I don't have a data plan), suddenly all my other wifi passwords are brought back, and all my previous (free, as back then there were no paid apps for my country) apps would start installing.
This stopped working at some point, however. I don't know whether it is because I added a couple of other google accounts, for my different picasa galleries, or because of something else.
Now, with the galaxy, I just debranded the phone using Odin, and then resetted it (otherwise the CSC would stay the same), then proceeded to connect to my wifi, and add my google account. But still, nothing else happened, no matter how much I've waited.
Is there any way to bring this thing back to life? Is there any specific place on google's website(s) that I should also direct this question?
I didn't know the google backup service did this with the apps.

It did, cause it slowed my htc hero to a crawl when it used to work.

I've been having a weird problem with my Vibrant for the past ten hours or so, and can't seem to find a solution. I was running stock rooted JI6 and attempted to apply some app updates through the Market, but began getting network connection errors. I gave it several minutes, and when it refused to let me in, I restarted the phone, which had no effect. I did an ODIN restore and reverted to factory settings, and the phone refused to sign me into my Google account, saying it couldn't establish a reliable connection. I hunted around and eventually got signed in using the YouTube app workaround, but now when I try to access the Market it says the server is unavailable.
I haven't heard any buzz about a major outage, so I assume this is not something on Google's end. For the record, my connection is fine (tried to sign in to Market on both 3G and WiFi, no go, but browser and other internet-connected apps work fine, as do Google's sync services once I've managed to sign in through YouTube), and my Google account appears entirely normal PC-side. I saw an old thread about people having problems in China etc. after Google was partially blocked there, but as I'm in the United States, I don't think that applies. I am completely at a loss, and now I'm stuck with a factory-settings phone with no apps because I can't get into the Market.
I've followed the XDA forum for a couple months now, but this is my first post. I'll be heading to a T-Mobile store to ask them about it later today, but I'm hoping you folks will be able to shine some light on the subject in the meantime and perhaps even save me the trouble. I'm still pretty new to smartphones and Android, so go much beyond rooting and ODIN 101 and I'm quite ignorant. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks for your attention!
Market works fine on my end. Try clearing the data on market that has helped me in the past. From home screen menu/ settings/ applications/ manage apps/ market/ clear data and cache reboot.
There's no entry for the Market in my apps list, since it's pre-installed.

I invited my wife to google music. Uploaded a bunch of songs from her pc (I have this all working fine on my droid x)
Her phone is stock with the latest firmware. I installed and uninstalled the app like 5 times. I can't get it to show the settings menu or anything.
Just want to confirm that this should work on this phone.
Try rebooting the phone? I've had this issue before but don't remember how i fixed it.

Go to Music Settings in the Google Music Beta account and check the number of devices you have associated to the account. I believe there's a limit of 8 devices per account.
I know people have been running into this limit when frequently flashing new ROMs since each new ROM represents a new device in the Google Music account.
Thanks guys. I uninstalled it and downloaded it from a different source. That did the trick.

I've been searching all over for this info. Every thread visited always talked about not being able to link their account but none mentioned the device limit.
I got my Fascinate a week ago and confirmed that streaming through Google music worked right when i got it. Then I flashed PowerWashed GB and at once i realized, 'wtf? why isn't gMusic streaming'. I flashed back to stock, CM7, back to PW and nothing. I tried new radios, kinda-bricked my phone (stupidly checked the Clear EFS in Odin) resurrected my phone (a phone call restored my cell service, but activating my old phone and then reactivating my Fascinate fixed it completely) and now I have read your post, checked my account and sure enough I had a crap load of devices authorized. Culled the list and now I'm streaming. Thank you, very much.
I travel a lot, but I want to access the US Android Market, Pay in USD, etc.
There are a lot of apps I can find on other android devices in have without issue, but don't come up on my SII or when I do find them I'm told my phone is from the wrong Country!? Google Voice not loading seems almost insulting.
I guess I can backup and restore from one device to another, but I'm thinking I'm just missing something. Why would Google make users life this hard over something so basic?
At this point I'm ready to format the phone and rebuild it, or whatever it takes to set it up as a US domiciled phone. How can I do this?
I tried flashing a new ROM, but it remembered everything afterwards.
Try the Market Enabler app. It allows you to spoof different phone models and locations.

I would greatly appreciate help from anyone who could bail me out of the situation I got myself into.
Here's the background: My wife and I have been using SGSII for about two years and during this time I have successfully been able to utilize odin oneclicks and TiBu to upgrade our phones several times. Unfortunately, this is the extent of my exposure to android and rooting and ROMS etc. So I basically need dead simple answers without jargon.
We have been pestered by the OTA update requests for ICS for several weeks. I wanted to skip that and get to JB and since the GB27 one click is available I decided to go for it. I had no problems on my phone and used TiBu to get all my programs and settings back just fine.
If I had to screw up on any phone I wish it was mine because now I'm in the doghouse with my wife. Short version: did selected directory backup via usb (mainly pictures and a couple of key apps) and had the TiBu backup on microSD. GB27 installed fine. However, found out the MicroSD was corrupt/unreadable (found out afterward she had been having problems but didn't know it was due to bad SD card).
All apps installed fine from google play except the one app she specifically told me she needed - SplashID. I used my microSD and transfered the file folder from the PC and managed to get it on her phone. Now on google play it shows that we have it installed but when I try to run it tells me that we have to buy the app. I'm sure that this is because the android ID changed and it doesn't recognize my wife's phone.
My question is how can I fix this? I tried using TiBu to restore previous ID but it doesn't find a prior android ID.
I really need some advice to help save me. Any advice?

From my experience as long as I use the same Google account I purchased the app with there is no problems with re-installing the app directly from the Playstore then I restore data using TB if required. I sometimes have issues with TB not backing up the market links properly.
Basically if you sign in using the same Google account then the purchased app should show as purchased but not installed once you click it in my apps you should be given the option to install. If you aren't then gastonw has provided the only other option.

Auss - The device is definitely linked to her google account. She has only ever had one google account and all the apps except the paid ones reinstalled fine.
From searching on the forums it does seem that this is related to the android ID changing when the system was wiped and upgraded to JB. Unfortunately, since my TiBu backup was hosed on the microSD card I am unable to restore the previous Android ID or the app backup.
I am hoping that google will be able to restore my prior android ID otherwise it seems I might have to contact each software developer of the paid apps and try to get them to honor the app. Has anyone had to go this route?
Again, any feedback or advice is appreciated. I will keep you posted on my progress with this dilema.

Always keep Tibu updated, it will prompt android id change when it actually changes.

Ok, I blew it! (he says sheepishly)
This is one of those situations where I should have check my premises.
I was updating my wife on my troubleshooting efforts including contacting Google and SplashData when she happened to mention that she actually does have another google account. She did not realize it had been linked to her phone before but after I added it back to her phone the problem with SplashID resolved.
I do appreciate everyone's helpful advice and I appologize for the wild goose chase.

Hey guys, I have been having troubles with Play Store recently. I have been trying to download several apps/games and they take forever to download. It does not matter if it's a 5mb app or a 1.5gb game. It looks to be downloading at about 300kb/s when my internet is 30/5mbps. I have ran speed tests on my phone and I am getting my advertised speed and I have also cleared the Play Store and Google Services data and rebooted but still no luck. I get this problem when I am at home or away on a totally different network. Has anyone else had issues with slow downloads?
My second issue deals with the carrier billing option... Ever since I got my Note 3 I have lost the ability to Bill to Sprint. My girlfriend still has the option and we are on the same plan. I have tried using 3G as well as 4G and still no luck. I have contacted Sprint and they have been no help. I also checked to make sure that I don't have any blocks on my line that would prevent this. My Google Wallet account only has my CC for my Play Music Subscription. I am clueless on this issue. Anyone have any ideas?

Started noticing this same thing recently. Was wondering if it was just me...
Edit: download speeds seem to be hit or miss. Sometimes they blaze others they crawl...

Alright, Here is my .2 on the issues you are talking about..
About the speed, I have no clue.
About the carrier billing option, I do have a clue.
So I initially rooted my phone with the CF-Root method and was able to get carrier billing up until a few days ago. I talked to google about the issue and they said it was carrier related. I went into the sprint store and talked to my sales agent that I always go through when ever I need anything sprint related. He had his sales support, customer care, and advanced technical all conferences on the line to figure out what the issue was. Long story short after all the troubleshooting they said it was an issue with the phone. So, after ordering the replacement I have no had the issue with the new one, however.. its not rooted and all stock in fear of losing my bill to carrier options. They didn't ask if my phone was rooted, or even cared to check the status of the phone. I had tripped knox, and kernel counters and was running the MININI3 rom with Freeza's beast mode. kernel like in my sig.
I do want to mention that Ive also never had carrier to billing option on the phone since ive had it.. so if you had it and then lost it.. it is software related and if going back to stock everything (which is what I did) and it still didn't allow the option.. then your phone is hosed.. I do suggest you attempt a warranty swap or have sprint investigate and come to the conclusion that its the phone.

Yeah , it's the problem of stock rom..
Basically its a software problem.
Noticed this consistently as well while using my Wi-Fi but when I turn wifi off and use mobile data I'm getting blazing speeds that I used to get with my wifi...don't get it.

So does anyone actually have bill to sprint working on a rooted kitkat rom?
I had the option there on sacs kitkat, but kept getting an error about them not being able to verify my account, which I came to the assumption it was because I was using google voice integrated with my phone number. So I disabled the google voice integration, updated prl & profile, but the option is no longer even there.
I've tried restoring sacs, I've tried installing the stockish odex rom, and now I'm downloading the stock unrooted rom to go back to stock & start again. Just curious if anyone has had any success with this.

Do you have both google accounts synced on the phone? (settings -> general -> accounts -> add account -> google...) What I had to do was add both google accounts to my phone.
I have to switch to the new account to download new apps so I can "bill to sprint", then I switch to the old account to download previously purchased apps. ( to switch accounts, there is a drop down list of accounts that shows when you hit the 3 lines in the top left corner on the home page of the play store & then the little arrow next to your gmail address)
