Lost Calendar Account - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I noticed recently that my phone wasn't reminding me of my calendar reminders. When I went to check the settings i see that my primary google calendar is missing. I tried to add the calendar back by going into setting and calendar but I have no option to make it visable. I tried re-signing in but i get a message saying there is already an account for my gmail.
I know a full factory reset will fix this but before I do any suggestions?
Thanks
Mark

Bump: I've been trying to fix my missing calendar issue for the day and now luck.
Check yours... Has your calendar account disappeared?
How do you get it back?

Did you clear data by any chance? I was just trying to correct my calendar account on my Scroll Excel, as it somehow associated its self with the wrong email address, and when I cleared the data from both the calendar app and the calendar storage through manage apps, I managed to get rid of the wrong email address.
Now I just need to find out how to put the right email in!

hmm, i also once noticed i didnt had the calender for my google birthdays, but i couldnt find a fix (didnt look for long though because i was going to flash a rom anyways) so i did factory reset and flashed new rom and now it works fine.
try to remove your google account (correct one), then clear the data of your calendar and then add him again?

[Q] Google Contacts

Where are the Google contacts stored?
The only place I can see them is when I am creating a message and tap add contact. There seems to be all the contacts from my Gmail account many of which do not have phone numbers and some of which I wouldn't want certain family members to see.
I have tried every setting in contacts and accounts I can find but no luck. I have cleaned up my Gmail account contacts and did a sync hoping that would over write them but no luck.
Any help is appreciated.

Google Contacts are stored on your phone and Google server if I am not wrong.
Regards.
By default Gmail adds anyone you email to your contacts. This used to be so annoying to most people.
Sign into Gmail on computer, go to settings, general, "create contacts for auto-complete" and check off "I'll add contacts myself".
Now go to your Contacts and start deleting the ones you don't want.
As for where they are stored, they are stored on Google's servers and not necessarily on your phone. Any changes you make either on your phone or via the web are pushed and synced I'm real time.

Yep cleaned up the contacts on the gmail account. turned of the auto add. Did a sync still have them on the phone.

I know they are stored on the phone and gmail account but where on the phone??
Can you see all the contacts when you hit the contacts tab in the phone menu?
If not then from within contacts Menu, More, Display Options and select the google contacts, under that there is a few options of what to display.
Why not try this last resort, remove your Google account on the phone and add it again.

You are the man.
Yep need google contacts on in order to see them in Contacts. Then delete them and turn off google contacts again.
Now I can rest easy.
Thank you very much
No problem, glad to help, found out the hard way too!

How to get contacts autofill in gmail
Hi,
I use viewsonic tablet with android 2.2 running. I have a gmail application installed . Whenever I try to send a new email or take a picture and want to send through gmail instantaneously, I get up to emal "To " field. In there it expects me to type the whole email address again. This is even true if I want to send it to my own gmail id. I mean to say that autofill of email addresses doesn't work. All my contacts is synched with gmail account and that show all the contacts which is available through my email account.
Is there a way to get around and get this autofill option enabled?
Thanks

[Q] Exchange calendar not syncing - Resurrection Remix ICS v2.4[4.0.4]

I have my i9100 with Resurrection Remix ICS v2.4[4.0.4] installed and tried to set up my work's Exchange account on it.
I specifically configured it so that it synchronizes the Exchange calendar too, but when I go to the phone's calendar, it only shows the ones from my Gmail account, not the Exchange one.
From the calendar application, if I go to Menu - Calendars to display - Calendars to sync, it does NOT show my Exchange account with its calendar.
If I go to Menu - Settings it shows my both accounts (Gmail and Exchange) but when I go to the Exchange one, it shows the message "No calendars" as if the account doesn't have a calendar to show. I'm positive that the Exchange server didn't change because until Friday I had an official ICS 4.0.3 rom and I was able to sync and add events to my Exchange calendar.
Any help on how to fix this or some workaround? I really need my Exchange calendar to be fully functional.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Lots of views and no answers? Please help me solve this or at least mention if it won't ever work...
Thanks
I'm experiencing the same issue. Have you managed to find a fix for this yet?
Why not post this in the rr thread? They're going to be able to help more than here

try 3rd part app
u may try
Smooth Calendar from playstore
I tried to ask in rr's thread but nobody replied to my questions...
Regarding 3rd parties, I'd like to try a stock solution if possible, but I'll give it a try anyway.
Thanks!

no mate
stocks apps wont work in aokp
I tried with that app and it's just a widget, but it doesn't fix anything. Maybe another third party that completely replaces the built-in calendar? I can't believe that the rom calendar can't sync with exchange just like that. Any reason to justify it? Is this for all AOKP roms?
Thanks.

Same thing. That calendar doesn't make use of its own provider for Exchange. It keeps relaying on rom builtin system. Is there a way to install the provider/connector for Exchange? I noticed that even when it looks similar to stock, the calendar app used in this rom is a mod or something belonging to the hydrogenics author (paradoxxx). Maybe there's a workaround for this?
I think I found the solution to this, cryptically posted on another forum.
But essentially, in Accounts and Sync, where you're only seeing your Google Accounts and not the exchange one, turn sync off and then re-add the exchange account to the list. It won't work if you have sync turned on, it will just tell you that exchange account has already been synced.
Once you've re-added the account you'll be free to turn sync back on and it should work the way it did before you upgraded to ICS.

I've just updated to 4.0.4 original from Samsung, but I didn't like it, so I'll be rolling back to RR ICS and will give it a try... I'll love you if I get this to work this way! lol!
Thanks for your reply. I'll get back to confirm whether or not it worked...

I've had this problem for the past month, and I finally figured it out....no thanks to HTC, AT&T or my Exchange Active Sync provider. They all told me it was their problem, but another provider's issue. I was about to throw them all under the bus.
My problem was that the Exchange ActiveSync calendar stopped syncing, although the email and contacts worked fine. Appointments from my phone would sync to Outlook, but any appointment I put in Outlook would not sync to my phone.
This is my solution:
On my HTC Vivid, android version ICE, 4.0.3, AT&T cellular provider.
I went to: Home, Menu, Settings, Apps, All Apps, Calendar Storage.
Clear Data in Calendar Storage. This should erase the Exchange Calendar from your phone. I did not even have the Exchange Calendar as an option to view when I opened my Calendar.
Now, Remove the Exchange Account, and re-install it. No need to turn the phone off in between. My calendar worked perfectly after that.
If you really want to be thorough, clear the data on the Calendar and Calendar Widget, also.
I could not clear the cache in Calendar Storage, Calendar or Calendar Widget - it was not an available option for me.
I hope this helps!!!

This fixed it for me on my CM10 US Cellular Galaxy S3! Thanks!!!
Its working for me! Thanks!!
Just uncheck sync of Google account (calendar), delete data in app setting/calendar storage (Home, Menu, Settings, Apps, All Apps, Calendar Storage.
Clear Data in Calendar Storage) and than delete Exchange account and setup it again.

Google Calendar stopped syncing

I've noticed random calendar entries missing from my google calendar from the last 3 weeks, and many entries missing from future weeks, but they're all still on my phone. I've just created some test calendar entries on the phone to see if they would update online, yet they're not appearing on google calendar. But my google account on the phone confirms it's syncing, with 'last synced 5/12/2013 at XX.XX am/pm time'
Is this anything to do with my samsung account?
Samsung account said session expired. I forgot my old password so created a new one on the samsung site.
A popup message saying 'Update Samsung Account?' has been continually appearing, even though I've downloaded the update several times. If I remove the samsung account, does it affect my google calendar or will I lose anything else important?
My phone contacts seems to update ok though.
So, how do I get google calendar to see my phone calendar events?
Looks like everything is a mess, i would do a full wipe if i were you, but im not so here we go. Are u using the samsung calendar or google calendar to look at your google calendar events? If you are using samsung calendar, did you choose to sync your gmail within the calendar app settings?

Hi. I'm using my google calendar to look at my calendar events. I don't recall choosing to sync gmail with the samsung calendar.
In system settings on the phone, the google account tells me it just synced a few minutes ago, with the green sync icon next to it, even though it hasn't actually updated any new calendar entries on google calendar online. In system settings/Samsung account, it just occurred to me that my Samsung account is a different email address, an ntlworld.com address, not the gmail address I use to log in for google calendar. But it's always been that way, so I'm not sure if or how my samsung account would affect what's happening with my google calendar? Currently I've disabled sync on the samsung account because the pop up message kept appearing, and the sync icon was red saying sync error. Added a test calendar event to my phone but not showing up online. The settings in my phones default calendar are ticked for my gmail account/email address, ie, 'My Calendar', 'Contacts Birthdays', 'UK Holidays', there's nothing showing my samsung account email address. I'm rather confused!
When I type my new password into the Samsung account on my phone then click 'Done', it says 'In Progress'.. 'Signing In..' then always says 'Unfortunately, Samsung account has stopped' and Processing failed. So I can't even log in! Do I need to remove the samsung account and reinstall it? And should I do a backup first with 'My Backup' which I have installed?
Hmm. Go to settings, accounts, and click on your google account, in there you should find tick boxes like "app data" "browser" "calendar" etc., make sure calendar is ticked. If it is ticked, un-tick it, clear data of calendars, reboot, and tick it again. As for your samsung account, you should probably make a new account or fiddle with its settings from your web browser maybe. Could be samsung apps fault too, you need to re-install the stock rom to overcome that. ( Or maybe finding its app and clearing its data)

Yeah there's 13 sync boxes, including app data, sync calendar, sync gmail, all ticked and synced within the last 2 hours. Sync google play news wasn't ticked but I've now ticked it.
'Clear data of calendars'. You mean in Application Manager/Calendar Storage? TIn there it says 0.99mb total calendar storage and there's the 'clear data' box. I'm a bit worried, won't that delete all my calendar events? In which case, shouldn't I back up first?
Yes it will clear your calendar data, but they should be backed up on google servers, did you put new entries after this problem occured? Check your google calendar from a PC, everything there should be safe.

That's my whole point though, when I go to 'Calendar' from google chrome, my calendar appears but random older entries are not there starting from about 3 weeks ago, yet some are there. Many entries are also not there for future calendar events I've entered in my phone. And any new entries I made today are not showing up either. So the google servers are not automatically backing up what I'm putting on my phone's calendar. Which is why it's a risk to clear phone data, because its only my phone that is actually showing all my entries, but the server isn't.
Then try just clearing the cache of calendar storage and google calendar. Also make sure your gmail is ticked on google calendar' settings too. You can backup with titanium backup (tho i don't know if it will work %100, calendar backups are always messy). Lets try not deleting your data for now. Does deleting google account and re-creating delete your entries? If not, you can try that as well. You can also try re-installing google calendar app via an apk without deleting it.

The cache is greyed out, there's nothing to clear.
I'm not rooted so can't use titanium backup, I'm currently backing the whole phone up fwith My Backup Pro. Then I'll delete the samsung account and see if that makes any difference. If not, I'll delete the google account and reinstall it.
"Also make sure your gmail is ticked on google calendar' settings too." Yeah, in calendar settings on the phone, everything is ticked. 'Calendars', I click on that and there's a bunch of things that can only be ticked or unticked. 'My Calendar' is ticked, 'My Task' is ticked, then under that it shows my google gmail address ticked, uk holidays, contacts birthdays also ticked. That's all there is.
There aren't a problem with settings then, as you also thought, you should try backing up and deleting and re-creating accounts.

[Q] Simple password change wreaks havoc

While using gmail this morning on my PC I got a prompt to change my password due to an invalid log-in attempt. I did so, and of course that caused problems on my S3 since it now had the wrong gogle password for me.
I figured this would be as simple as entering the new password, but apparently there is no way to re-enter your password on the phone. The google recommended fix is to delete your google account on the phone (!!!), clear the data from all your apps that use google (!!!), and re-add the account.
I did that, and other than the extreme annoyances of having to re-do all my settings for those apps, my sync settings, etc (all for just a simple password change), the big problem is that now all of my contacts are gone.
I thought I had it set up to sync with my google contacts, but apparently if you add a contact through the contacts/phone app it doesn't do that (???) and re-syncing my google contacts just adds a bunch of email addresses. If I go into my app manager there is an application called "contacts storage" which is 9mb and I'm guessing has all the contact info that was saved to the phone? If so, how do I load this back?

[Q] Remove synced Google calendars entirely

Hi everyone!
I want to remove all google calendars from my phone. I'm using an other CalDAV service. That's why I find them distracting and want to get rid of them.
I did de-select syncing the calendar in my Google account on my phone (Xperia Z2) so the calendar won't get synced any more. I also read that people cleared the calendar storage. I tried to clear that as well as both calendar apps (Android/Google and Sony). This will actually remove the Google calendars for a few moments, however, they are coming back :crying:
Is there a way to get rid of the calendars entirely?
My device is not rooted and I have no intentions to change that just to get rid of the Google calendars...
Thanks in advance!
