[Q] Facebook for HTC Sense problem - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm having a problem with Facebook for HTC Sense on 2.1 Rom's. My contacts sync and link ok, and I get their Facebook info (updates, birthday, etc). But I their photos don't sync, and I can't even access them from the contact list (on the images tab). I get the album info, number of pics, but when I try to see one, I get a icon looking like a photo and a exclamation mark
This only happens on 2.1. Tried Salsa Sense and Wildhero and they work fine.
Using Elelinux 2.1 reloaded at the moment, but the same happened on villainrom 13 and Tegro 2.6.
I've checked facebook permissions, hard resets, removing and setting new accounts, clearing application data, contacts data, and searched forum and google for solutions, but to no avail.
Can anyone help?

Can't sync with Facebook using 2.1

So I got 2.1 installed and everything has been great so far. However I can't seem to sync with Facebook. It takes my credentials just fine and I can run the app. But when I try to link a Contact with their Facebook profile (to see their updates and sync their profile pic) it doesn't work. I get to the "select a profile" screen and it doesn't list any of my friends, even when I search.
Is anybody else either having this issue or able to sync successfully? And help would be greatly appreciated!
Works fine for me.
Some people weren't showing up in my contacts yesterday tho. But today it's fine and I was able to link all my contacts or show facebook contacts.
it took a bit for everything to sync over, but as of now I have no sync issues in 2.1 for facebook and or anything else. How long ago did you setup 2.1 with fb?
I setup my FB acct (and Google acct) as soon as I booted into 2.1 for the first time. I've tried removing the FB account, adding it back, rebooting in between, etc with no luck.
I have both "Facebook" and "Facebook for HTC Sense" enabled.
It takes my username/password fine, 'sync contacts' is checked, and it claims to sync just fine. When I tell it to manually sync, it 'runs' for about 2 seconds before saying sync complete.
When viewing a contact and sliding over to the updates 'tab', I try to link with their acct but my friends list never loads. Trying to search in it does nothing. Even when I try to view all updates in People, it shows nothing.
The Facebook app and Facebook Phonebook folder work great, but I really want to merge contacts again so it shows their FB pic automagically.
com.htc.bg has been force-closing alot. Could that have something to do with it?
I had the same issue I reinstalled the Rom then clicked the Facebook sync in setting let it sit for the night and it loaded all my friends. Search the forums this was answered in the other 2.1 leak forum.

Facebook Sync in Sense with 2.1 : the fix

Ok I have looked for this trouble in the forum and on Google already, and I see I am not alone, but the only answers I could find are : "no bug for Facebook sync in Sense with 2.1, does work for me", "remove and re-ad your account and sync, might be long".
Well... actually... no it does not work.
The fact is, I have tried a few 2.1 ROMs, and I couldn't make it work on any of those, including the last official taiwanese 2.1 release : only the profile pictures are synced, but nothing else : no statuses, no events, no facebook albums, including mines, and cannot upload pictures... very annoying
So... maybe the problem is not on my HTC Hero with Sense on Android 2.1... and I was right.
So here is THE fix :
1- remove your Facebook account from your Hero.
2- In Facebook, Application Settings, remove all HTC Sense applications (I had 2, maybe one for Sense with 1.5, other for Sense with 2.1).
3- On your Hero, re-add your Facebook account.
4- Fixed
First sync might take a few minutes, depends on your network I guess, but not hours like I have read in some other threads...
Sorry for my not so good english, and I hope this fix has not been already given so I don't look like a jerk ^^

Just flashed Fresh 1.0.1 and my contacts aren't syncing. Facebook for Android works fine but Facebook for Sense is messed up. I already tried what you suggested above before looking online for a solution and finding that it was a common issue. I'm on an EVO and I tried Menu/Settings/Accounts&Sync/ and removed Facebook for HTC Sense, I also removed Facebook for Android and then re-installed both, still no luck. From looking around it seems like a common problem but not everyone seems to be having the same issues.
Yeah I have tried this a few times now and still no luck
Edit: As suggested by sassnowwolf (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=736276&page=4) I cleared the cache and boom it's working now (This is after going through the process above)

[Q] Several calendar problems with 435 build

Hi,
I have learnt that calendar crashes can be solved by clearing the calendar app's cache.
New problems:
I have loaded 5 different calendars from my Gmail. How come all of them are represented by pink colour? I'd like different colours for each calendar, as in Gmail and as the old calendar app allowed. Can't find any menu for this setting.
The phone no longer displays all entries from the Gmail calendars. All my calendar is there, as some upcoming entries are shown. I can't figure out why other upcoming entries are left out.
I hope someone can help.
I have the same issue. (About pink color)
My post (posted in the kxROM thread hoping kx knew something).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11212576#post11212576
I'm not entirely sure if it's the SE layer ontop of the stock apps, but obviously *searching* like everyone says isn't the case - I've tried and nothing has come up working.
I having the same problem also.
But it works when I clear data on calendar.
You may wanna try this, but I stop auto sync first in case anything happened.
Go to Settings>Applications>Manage Application>, press Menu button, select Filter, select All.
After all applications shown, select Calendar and clear data, then Calendar Storage and clear data.
After clearing both data, then launch Calendar. I done these and the calendar can be launched. Then I turn on auto snyc again.
Same calendar problem, unable to fix it until now
I have the same problem.
After upgrading to .435 firmware, all my calendars (5 of them) turn up pink.
I have a smooth calendar widget that shows the correct colors. But somehow the calendar app itself does not read those colors.
I've tried to erase the data from both calendar and calendar storage.
Doesn't work.
I use my phone for business. This app is a must have!
Anybody please?
I've tried the clear data procedure as well, and no luck.
(Turned off auto-sync, forced-closed both, cleared data, rebooted).
I've also tried to replace it with a stock version, I just googled Android 2.1 stock calendar.apk. I know I'm most definitely missing something here, so someone that knows what they're doing fix my mistake. (if its possible)
I tried replacing the CalendarProvider.apk and added Calendar.apk (I also tested renaming Calendar.apk to SemcCalendarLargeui.apk to replace default).
So still looking for a fix to this disaster of a calendar application.
Edit: @Jaydee-S - so if the widget shows the right color, maybe we can isolate the problem to SemcCalendarLargeui.apk, which is just putting Pink for all the calendars and no options to change them. - Devs help us out please
I just downloaded Business Calendar Beta from the market.
Works perfectly and is a good alternative to the SE calendar.
But the questions remain: Why doesn't the SE calendar work and why doesn't everybody experience the same?
Actually that app you posted blows the stock one out of the water in my opinion. Good find.
Now i can delete SemcCalendarLargeui.apk no need to even see it.
omg, I deleted SemcCalendarLargeui.apk by mistake....can someone please upload the apk for me.
Has a solution been found to display the correct calendar colors in the stock calendar app, instead of the default pink that came with upgrading to .435?
Sorry dude, I have the same problem and have searched everywhere, without any luck.
My solution is business calendar app on the 435 rom.
Right now I'm using Trip's MIUI rom: try it out, it is blazing fast and works very well. Use it as my daily rom now. Last but not least: here the calendar works

[Q] Can't See My Contacts

HTC EVO 3D. not rooted
2.3.3 android version
3.0 sense version
software version 1.13.651.7
whenever i open "people" it shows the list. i try to open a contact and it goes into frozen "loading" hell. just sits there.... loading... for all eternity. also contact names don't show up in text messaging screens. i can't add new contacts... anything to do with contacts is just wrong.... loading... for all eternity. i deleted any program that said "Facebook" ... still contacts stuck on loading .... please help... and i apologize if this same subject is in a thread elsewhere i couldn't find it.
try accounts & sync, remove then add google again, and see if that fixes it
If you saved your contacts as google contacts, why don't you try clearing the data under manage applications and then refreshing your contacts from google.
thanks! i couldn't delete gmail without going to factory default. but when i went to accounts and sync i saw fb for sense still trying to sync (even though i uninstalled it ) so that solved my problem

Calendar Widget since update.

Anyone else have an issue with the HTC Calendar Widget since T-Mobile's latest update for the Amaze?
Previously it used to show me events for things like my friends birthdays using the information from Facebook. Noticed today that it wasn't showing my my friend's birthday. Seems like it just no longer displays that information. Just me or everyone have this issue now with HTC's Calendar Widget?
I've even removed it from the Home screen, and re-added it. During the re-add I confirmed that Facebook was checked/selected still as one of the sources it should get data from.

Mine is displaying just fine.
Are you talking about calendar 1, 2 or 3?
I am using 1.
HTC Calendar Widget version 3.0.2118282653.140764
HTC Calendar version 3.02120283257.184156
View Mode 3/3 (small bar).
Set on first Home screen under the Clock/Weather Widget.
I've force stopped both of the above apps and done a clear data with no luck.
If I go to 'Settings|Account and Sync|Facebook' and then click 'Sync Calendar' to try and force it to Sync it ends up with a Red Exclamation Mark and the text "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." Same appears for 'Live Feed'.
The dates for both the last Calendar Sync and Last Live Feed sync to Facebook show as Mon, Dec 12 2:07PM which is a bit before the phone got upgraded to 1.43.531.3 from T-Mobile over the air.
I've also tried rebooting the phone and have even pulled the battery.
EDIT: Solution Found.
Found this via some posts on the net related to syncing Facebook contacts but appears to have worked for calendar as well.
1). from a PC, Logon to Facebook, hit dropdown on right of screen and select 'Account Settings'
2). Click Apps, then remove permissions for HTC Sense
3). On the Phone, Go to 'Settings|Applications|Manage Applications|All'
4). Find "Facebook for HTC Sense" and click it.
5). Force Stop, then Clear Cache if available, then Clear Data
6). Hold Power on the phone and select "Restart"
7). When the phone boots back up you'll have to authorize Facebook for HTC Sense again and then it will work.
Everything is good now. Calendar, Live Feed, and Contacts are all syncing now (before only Contacts were syncing).
Coming from Runnymede AIO V6 on my Desire and really liked the stock HTC Weather Clock Widget in 4x1. Does anyone know how to port just that widget to say, NRG's 2.27.12 ROM? Attached are screenshots of the widget and the details for it if that helps.
Cheers.

Figured out it is a Sense 3.5 option. Switched ROM's to Xboarder's Sense 3.5 RC1.7 and it is in there.
Cheers
