Here is a Transformers Boot Animation from the trailer clip. It ends with the Autobots emblem. It is in Lanscape mode.
Simply use Root Explorer and place the zip file in \data\local and reboot. You can also place it in \system\media ( I did not try this, but it may work for you if you have trouble.
The best!

Good stuff. worked first try. looks kool =D
lol i must be the only one not getting this working, have put it in the proper folders, but the screen just stays black while it boots.
Which method have you tried?
I am unable to boot it up either. I cannot delete the original bootanimation and copy this one in the location and I dont no have the second options path?
If you can't delete the original bootanimation.zip, it sounds like you are in R/O mode. (read only) you need to be in R/W(read write) in order to replace the file.
Can you do this with stock 2.2 rooted?
Yes, it should work fine on a stock Rom.
Sent from my Dell Streak
Great work!! Its amazing.. Thanks..!!love it.. :d
Will this work on Gingerstreak 2.4.2?
As far as i know it should work on any version of ROM. Just replace the existing bootanimation.zip file with this one.

So I have spent all week looking for a way to get the screen off animation (old tv style) on my Thunderbolt and came up empty handed...until today! the only thing that even remotely does what i want is an app thats called screen off and lock. This app will play the screen animation and then lock your phone. now i know that everyone is saying that the screen off ani cant be done on froyo unless you're using a senseless ROM (like CM7) but if this app can sort of do it, is there a dev that can make this app work by actually pushing the power button? Any help would be appreciated.
I would LOVE if someone could get this working on froyo too!
You See That Is An App.. It Has Nothing To Do With The System And Animations, There Is No Possible Way To Do it :\
Yea i know...It was pretty much wishful thinking but thought i would ask. Guess Im gonna have to go to CM7 to get my fix until GB comes out for the TB. The app is ok but who the hell wants to go back to there home screen every time just to see an animation
Iv been switching from CM7 to Bamf and vice versa lately for testing. And I really miss that lol. I loved showing it to everyone and theyd all be like :OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
i have already done a few things to the stock ROM like put the "HTC quietly rooted" boot animation and the down animation is the old tv turning off with static first then very similar to GB screen off. while that gets me the "OOOOOOOOO" that i want from people, i hate having to power cycle my phone to do it cause using swype i have to then switch to touch keyboard then back to swype. that becomes a pain in the ()()

**I posted the question there with some more details (I don't want to take over this thread).**
I have a down animation that's great if you want it (i explain it in the OP) if you want it let me know. Just a brief description on how to change your down animation:
Get a root explorer
Go to system/media
Paste new down animation in this folder
Done
I always recommend copying the original down animation in case you don't like the new one
The quietly rooted screen sounds fun. Any way that can be made into a flammable zip and posted?
I got it from another thread. The link is below

It's not all that special just so you know, it actually gets quite irritating after a few days... but if you want it, why dont you just use CM7 than. CM7 or any AOSP ROM is leagues better than anything Sense-based, except possibly Myn's Warm

Download and move zip file into /system/media using root explorer or equivalent (change the name of the original downanimation.zip file or copy it somewhere first so you can go back to it if you want). Then change permissions to rw-r--r--

What does this down animation actually do? I put it in the media spot and when I turn my screen off I get nothing? I did set permissions
So I thought this boot animation was pretty cool... I did a quick port for the Atrix Screen size (540x960), and it looks good. However, it needs some sound badly.
Thought I would post it here and someone could get some sound rocking on this thing. I take no credit for this, all I did was port the screen size for our device.
Here is a video of the animation:

I noticed you are on Gingerbread is this for 2.3.4? And do you copy/paste into sytem/media folder or do use unlocked CWM to flash?

Boot animations should work on any build. However, if they have sound, you have to be careful about which build it is installed on.

There's a few other ports on lower screen rez, floating around the internet and youtube... this is as close as I got to an original source: http://dev.nsbtt.com/android/bootanimations/
I found the perfect audio file for this animation, but for some reason the audio on anything I do is cutting off really short, well before the boot up is finished. I am wondering if there is a maximum play time for audio in the notifications folder.

I made some nice sound fx for this video
Okay, got the desc file working, but theres a couple of issues
first off, the sound starts off a little ahead at first, then the animation catches up,
second of all about 3/4 of the way through the boot the sound gets really low for some reason, so its harder to hear, maybe once i get to my real computer I can edit the mp3 to be louder after that point, but heres the mp3 and edited desc file:
just unzip, replace the desc.txt file in the original bootanimation.zip with the one in this archive
then add the bootfx.mp3 (unzipped) to your /system/media folder via root explorer
... any way someone could put instructions as to exactly how to install this, along with the sound effects, using CWM? Kinda new to the whole thing, really....
when i flash it with cmw it says installation aborted why

You are probably on the wrong version of Tenfars CWM.
Which version are you using?
Added the audio to this boot animation:

I cannot test as I am trying out CM7 pre-beta4 right now, and as far as I know CM does not support animation audio. If anyone tries it, please let the rest of us know if it works OK.

To elaborate on what others have said, you only need root because you only need to be able to access the location of where the boot animation resides.
I believe there are two locations you can change, though I have always done so at /system/media.

Make sure you've renamed the zip to bootanimation.zip. Throw it in system/media. No permission change is necessary.

Did you download the bootanimation in post #8?
If you are using ES File Explorer, go to settings and make sure "Mount File System" is checked.
You should not have to change permissions. Since you have been changing the permissions, they should be checked as follows
User: Read; Write
Group: Read
Other: Read

Yeah, I'd like to get about 5 more made up or so, that would be cool. I already have one finished that I made for SHOstock ROM back on the SGH-I777 (SGS2). It never got released to the user base because Shoman was able to make his next ROM a JB so we ditched that one. I can just change the text and render it out again.

LGOG_Jank4AU_Bootanimation_CWM.zip - 3.59 MB
LGOG_Stock_Bootanimation_CWM.zip - 3.27 MB
*if you like this bootanimation, don't forget to thank Jank4AU*
the stock one is just the plain LG one that I got from my Bell E973. these install into you data/local therefor leaving your original intact. data/local will override system/media. essentially it'll look there first and if there isn't bootani there then it'll use the one in you system/media
or instead of flashing the stock one you could just delete bootanimation.zip in data/local and it should bootup with your original bootanimation from system/media
Should have another, new boot animation zip and video up a little later this afternoon.

I didn't try the flashable zips. I've just been putting the boot zip on my internal sd card and using ES File Explorer, moving it directly to /system/media manually. Just rename your original boot animation zip to .bak to keep it without overwriting or deleting. Try that.

The easiest way would be to reflash the rom. Or, you could try connecting it to your computer and see if you can access the sd cards that way.
