Anyone else have problems opening picture texts?

Not for me

Everything good on my end also...

Yup, didn't work for me either. I solved the problem by installing the free GO SMS Pro app, which incidentally rules.

[Q] SMS Bug?

Has anyone experienced the SMS bug that sends a text message to the wrong person? From a quick look online it seemed like they fixed it in 2.2.2 but we have 2.2.1
Anyone have any idea?
Are you using the built in sms app?

Yes, I haven't had it myself but wanted to see if anyone has. I figured since the Atrix runs 2.2.1 then someone would experience the bug.
to create the bug you need to send an SMS to an email address which in turn replys to you. I believe that triggers the bug in the software and requires the update.
As when you ask a doctor what to do about your arm hurting when you flap it. "Well sir, dont do that."
This is what I was referring to:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=9392
and as I said:
"This only affects sms messages from people that seem to send messages from some kinda computer system, because they don't come from standard phone numbers"

Thanks ... I didn't know if we were talking about the same one

Yes we were. It is a rare but bad bug that will occur on the Atrix until we either get 2.2.2 or a form of Gingerbread.
Until then I would avoid texting with a non-phone number user.

Blank message from Anonymous sender after MMS

Every time I receive a picture in an MMS I get another message from "Anonymous" no subject. I open it and it say "message not found" I receive the message multiple times until I delete the original message. This happens in the stock messaging app and in Chomp. Uninstalled Chomp and it still happens on stock.
Rooted running UnNamed v1.0.1
Bump for some help. This is really annoying
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
Does this happen when you try to send a message to certain people, or just one person in particular? I wonder if maybe it's a read receipt notifying you that it was delivered? I'm on a custom ROM so I can't check. Try going into messaging, hit menu, then select settings.
Otherwise, maybe it's a carrier issue.
No Trojan this happens when I receive picture messages. From anybody on multiple carriers. May be an at&t issue. I think this happened on my Infuse too but don't remember if I ever resolved it

It happened to me on my Atrix. I found if I ignored it and didn't open it, it actually deleted itself. As far as I can tell, it's related to read receipts. Unnamed Rom doesn't offer the ability to request them and I don't think Stock did either but I also don't use a 3rd party messaging Application. Try turning off Read/Delivery Receipts on your device and see what happens.

From what I have been able to tell, it is a Carrier Issue AND read receipt issue.
Anyone found a fix for it yet?
Happened to me today, we both use GoSMS but I think she has enabled delivery receipt.
did you happened to fix it?
I love how people are complaining that this was brought up again in another thread, which in fact led it to being locked even though there is no answer on this board. It is really annoying getting those messages. I have searched "blank anonymous", "blank message", and just "anonymous". Only two threads come up that are related to this issue. This one, and the one that was just locked. So if anyone truly has an answer to this issue and doesn't worry about trying to look cool by insulting users, please provide the answer, or at least point us in the right direction.
Thanks
I found a way that worked for my phone. I'm using ChompSMS and I would always get those and they would keep popping up.
All I had to do was open Chomp settings > SMS & MMS Network > MMS Network Settings > set "auto retrieve" to UNCHECKED.
I cant confirm that this will work (especially if you dont use Chomp as default), but it did work well for me. Good Luck

I've tried that. It doesn't do anything. Once I download the mms I'll get the anonymous message.
I've had this issue when I was on my Captivate. I tried flashed a few different ROMs and even went back to stock and the issue was still there. It was one of the reasons why I upgraded to the GS2 before my contract expired. However, the issue appeared on the new phone. The real problem was that my SIM card was messed up. Once they replaced my SIM card, everything was working fine again.

Slow MMS

I don't know if may I'm an isolated incident or not, but my MMS sometimes takes a very long time to send and receive. I'm on Metropcs and everything else works flawlessly, this is the only hiccup.
Is anyone else experiencing this? And is there a fix for it too?
Bump...so no one else has experienced this?
Nope, u think it's your provider.. Here it's delivered and received instantly.
Just curious.... why are you still using MMS?

From where I came from, if you send a mms or a international sms, you would need to sell a kidney to pay the cellphone bill.
That is why I asked

HEADS UP android messages now enabled web pc texting

Even though many tried the app, but now the web integration is included and is buttery smooth.
Thats great but anyone else unable to send mms on android messages after update?

Ongoing MMS trouble

Anyone else unable to send or receive pics and group message in the stock app? I'm on T-Mobile and it just doesn't work at all. Factory reset, correct apn settings, new Sim card, replaced my device, and still nothing. BUT 3rd party apps work.. wth? T-Mobile has a trouble ticket in, and there telling me it's a faulty device, which I don't see how it's possible since it's already a replacement and 3rd party apps wouldn't work if it was the phone. I'm stumped

I noticed my stock message app freezes and crashes since the new update. Can't even send a message now So something is definitely wrong. For that reason I'm glad I'm using Android messages app

It's bizarre.. literally every 3rd party app works fine, butnkf course then I lose RCS. T-Mobile has been trying to figure it out, they want to replace my phone AGAIN even though I explained that it must be something my account or RCS related since it doesn't affect 3rd party apps. Strangest thing

T-Mobile had me try that and change the protocol to IPv4/IPv6.. didn't fix it.
Solved.. MMS through the stock app does not work when using the built in private dns feature. I finally figured it out, and sent my theory to the T-Mobile "engineers" that had been working with me to see if they could solve the issue. Attached below is their acknowledgement that I had stumbled onto the answer to the problem
