Perhaps you wanted to install Swype keyboard?
Firstly you must clear that there are different installers for each device ,so create an account at swype.com and download installer from there and download your desired version from there.

That's exactly how I got the Skype installer in the 1st place..
That might be because the rom which u are using already contains swype and u should un-install it before installing newer version.
or just check if you have enabled swype in settings -> Languages and keyboards -> swype=Check it out.
Hoping this should solve your problem.
Look I use mik 6.5.2,only android keyboard installed.

What part of the instructions are you having an issue with?
im not having trouble with the instructions im having trouble with the application not being installed. As system/app does not have an apk called mms i assumed I would just have to install it like any other application but it starts installing then gives me a message saying not installed.
Hi all,

You can just set your mobile browser to m. sonyericsson .com/ backup without the spaces and then just download and install it. This is what I did and it worked fine. Just make sure you have install third party applications checked in your settings (the installer will make sure you do this). Hope this helps!

you could go to their website on a computer, manually download the apk there, load it onto your sd card and then try installing it. I actually used sideload wonder machine to install it before I debranded the phone. Once I debranded to R2BA026 I saw it was included in that base ROM as well as in 2.1. Of course the one you get from the site is more current than what is included in the generic 1.6, but when I used Astro to open the newer version it just asked me to upgrade.

Automatic Updates have finally arrived! Once installed, this latest version of Swype will let you install updates on-the-fly via Swype Connect.
* When an update is ready, you'll receive an Android Notification informing you that an upgrade is available
* Install the update right through the Swype Settings window
* Your user dictionary and settings will automatically be saved during the update!
Version is 3.26. Just curious: I forgot to note what version of Swype came pre-installed on the phone. Does anyone know what it is? This is my first time updating Swype. The layout is much different.
3.23 was the version on my device but i updated it to 3.25 which included gestures for cut, copy, and paste.

You're not allowed to distribute Swype on XDA, other than the one that comes with the phone.

Ah, okay.
Seems odd, since it's not warez. It comes preinstalled, and is also available for free through their website for those who don't have it preinstalled. I just didn't know how to update it since I do already have it preinstalled.
On my Captivate I had awful problems caused by uninstalling the preinstalled version, so I could use the Swype installer, and was hoping to avoid that this time.
Thanks anyway.

If your phone came pre-installed with Swype DO NOT download this beta (it won't work)

EDIT: Also, this:
When trying to uninstall Swype through Application Settings the only reason why you would be unable to select the uninstall button is that you're attempting to uninstall the production version of Swype. This either came PreLoaded with your device, or your Carrier included it in an OTA update. Swype production can not be uninstalled.
If this is the case and Swype is not appearing as your input method, simply go to any application that supports text entry (such as SMS or Email), long-press on any text box (the place where text would appear as you type), choose Input Method in the popup, and select Swype from the list of available choices.
IF YOU ARE RECEIVING CRASHES AFTER AN OTA SYSTEM UPDATE: Because Swype Beta is incompatible with Swype Production and can not be installed over top you will need to find a duplicate Swype entry in your Application Settings (The entry for Swype Beta) and uninstall that. Swype will force close when trying to be used until Swype Beta is uninstalled.
If you have a production device and would still like to test the Beta for us the only way we can support you is if you install another ROM that does not come with Swype PreLoaded.
If you would still like to try to uninstall Swype on a production devices you will need to delete or rename /system/app/Swype.apk and /system/lib/libSwypecore.so before installing the Beta. I will stress that this is NOT SUPPORTED in anyway. Some firmware has other framework customizations by the carrier that will cause further complications if these files are removed. If you try to uninstall Swype from a production device and break it the only advice we can give you is to seek instructions on how to reload your device with the stock rom.

I think if you uninstall the one that is preinstalled and then reinstall the beta it should work...I think...

Hi:
Yes, I was aware of that. I am actually a very good reader
That statement is actually not entirely true though.
On the Captivate (haven't tried on the new phone) you had to follow steps found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9160980&postcount=1
I actually worked perfectly.
My problem was caused by not having done enough research prior to deleting the original, so I didn't at first know to use root explorer to delete the appropriate file.
I am a bit of a worry wart, and almost had a heart attack prior to finding that post, because I thought I was going to have to live without swype lol.
Yea i removed the stock swype.apk.
installed from the beta.swype.com
clean rebooted. now everytime i swype in the word suggestion field it just pops up with "please try again". I can't swype anything.
anyone know how to fix this or things to try?
Have you uninstalled the Swype keyboard and the Swype installer and tried again?

Whoops, didn't realize that. Hmmm...I guess it's too late for me as I already uninstalled Swype and installed the version from their website. It works great so far. Is it saying that I will encounter issues when Samsung pushes out official updates for the phone?

That warning only applies to people who have not rooted and have a pre-installed version of Swype, if you have not rooted you can't remove system apps and will not be able to install the latest beta and have it work.
But for anyone who has rooted you can remove the pre-installed Swype and then install the latest beta directly from their website. It will not cause any problems.

Hi,
I want to install an a New keyboard for my Cellphone, but the problem is that the name of the Keyboard is "Android Keyboard" and when i try to install the APK it says "An existing package by the same name with a conflicting signature is already installed"....
Now I downloaded VirtualStudio Ten and decompiled, changed the name of the Keyboard in (Strings.xml) and recompiled it, after that signed and zipaligned it(which the Virtual Studio Program did itself while recompiling the Apk) , but even then i am getting the same error? i can see that the program is now shown with a different name which i edited myself in strings.xml, but still no go,exactly same error! Am i doing something wrong here?
The error probably persist because the keyboard which you're trying to install already exists on your phone.
i tried to install something form xda because i wanted the latest version of the app. But i couldn't install it.. turns out that my installed version was the latest version so i basically was trying to replace the exact same app with this app.. and it didn't work.
Hope i made it alteast abit more clear fro you in this matter

Nah, keyboard wont cause any kind of FC.. atleast it hasn't with me..
Lol renaming an app in the strings.xml file won't effect the package name, if you know a little java, you will understand what a package means, just search on how to do it and be warned its not that easy as renaming the app name in the strings.xml file.

When I try to install an app it says app not installed. I have tried signing the app, changing the version number and can't get it to work. I have tried installing apks I have downloaded and patched apks from lucky patcher and nothing works. So is there something that doesn't allow the phone to install modified apps?
I can't install samsung keyboard apk on my samsung galaxy s9+
Are you trying to install a new version of an apk that's already on your phone? If so, can you uninstall the older version first?
it is Android 8.0 security features. Google removed install unknown source. You need to give specific permission to file browsers or apps that does the install - for example, if you have app, copy to your phone, and open Samsung File, and click to install.

Yeah I did that to allow installs from Samsung file browser and lucky patcher but still not installing. It let's me push the install button and starts the process then says app not installed. I made sure that the previous version is not installed and reset the phone but still not working
Yeah I have allowed installs from the apps I am using to try to install and there isn't a previous version on the phone I made sure to uninstall the app and restart the phone after and still not allowing the install. It starts the install then says app not installed

the app you trying to install, unmodified one, go apkmirror.com and search for it, it should list different version, some apps has arm and arm64 version, download it to your phone, and install it.
your s9/s9+ are arm64

Emm nobody?
Samsung blocked sideloading most of it's system apps. Nothing you can really do about it.
Replace app with tutuapp
Your Android application may not be suitable for them. What you need to do now is:
Try updating Android, otherwise you go to the store by reinstalling your device, but this is very time consuming and costly. You can also use tutuapp android (visit tutuappplus.net to download) this free app store that helps me use great apps for Android.
