I have preorders number 4 & 5 at my local BB. The anticipation has been excruciating but I haven't even considered NOT having an EVO 3D in hand on launch day (was to be my first launch day device purchase).
I have no upgrade available and was grudgingly prepared to pay the full price of $599 just because I can and I want this phone sooo bad the moment it's available
Just today I noticed their listed "reg price" with no upgrade or new contract.. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/HTC+-+EVO+3D+Mobile+Phone+-+Black+(Sprint)/2817051.p?skuId=2817051&id=1218353393252

I'm pretty locked down to buying from Bestbuy if I want the best price overall..
God I am from the land of BB, corprate HQ is about 5 miles away... sorry their "campus" and the founder donates MAD money to the school I work at. Haven't dropped a penny in that store in 8+ years! Can't stand them.
Good luck selling sure yo will find someone to buy just not me! So consider me on your side of your boycot!

You never took notice before as to how much best buy prices are off contract? They are always 150 over regular price. They don't make their money from selling the phones outright so they tack on that much money. Not trying to be a **** but you didn't do any research before preordering at best buy?
Last year, I had to get rid of my Hero ASAP so I was willing to buy the EVO full price on launch day so I pre-ordered with BB. I got the confirmation call from BB the day before and said I had to pay $570! WTF?! I told them that the full price for the EVO from Sprint.com was earmarked at $450 and they said they had to pay retail for it so therefore I had to. I cancelled that preorder and got my $50 back!! Your situation is not shocking to me in the very least...sorry to hear that, dude! I'm never buying a phone from anybody but Sprint from now on. I got a $45 credit for signing another contract early, my $150 upgrade available, and another $150 for selling my EVO back to them so I'm getting my 3D for $5! Good luck getting yours, dude!

You mean did I research their historical track record of launch day device prices versus their competion.. pfft.. nope. I figured Sprints full price would set a ceiling market wide.
If they offer to match Sprints price then I might not tell the GM of the store he can eat a d!©k.
Regardless they're not getting any more of my money.

They do not price match the of contract price of the phone. Your best bet is to say when you preordered the phone they had it listed for 599 which thy did before. And the research I was talking about was not to launch day prices where but to how much more their full prices are. I was going to buy a Nexus S there but they wanted 700 when Sprint sells them for 550. I bought my wife's eipc from sprint because they only wanted 500 and best buy wanted 650.
RadioShack changed theirs from $599 to $499 untill 6/25 in this weeks ad. I was $499 is their new price even after the weekly ad expires. Thi actally made me want to honor my RS pre order since they decided not to **** the people who signed up with the intenton of getting the 3D for the original price stated.
Best Buy ALWAYS marks their phones up, but $699 for a phone? You got to be kidding me. Id tell best buy they can take the phone and shove it up their ass. Id go in there with the RS ad an printed Amazon ad and ask them why the feel the need to rape people.

I said in another thread that was going to screw people.. Target did the same thing and went from $499 to $599. FYI though, they will price match the Target price of $599 if you hound them. I dont think they'll price match the Radio Shack price of $499 and knock $200 off though. The people at Radio Shack are so confused, the manager at the local store told me they had a meeting with the regional manager yesterday evening and she gave a price of $599 off contract. I pointed out the price of $499 sitting in the ad right on the table in the store and he said they would have to honor that price for anyone that pre-ordered under that premise. I kept the paper just in case.

Yes they will depending on who is working in the store. I got them to price match Sprint's full retail price last year when I bought mine. She said she'd have no problem price matching the $599 this year too.

Best Buy always does this. The fact is they want to discourage off contract purchases because they make more money selling a phone on contract than they do off contract. If I was the OP I'd just order from Amazon at $499 pay no tax and get the free 2 day or in my case $3.99 overnight prime shipping.

BB will match radio shacks price i did it on my evo

I'm planning on getting the EVO 3D off contract but so far I only see Radio Shack quoting it at $499. Has anyone heard of other retailer pricing? Does Amazon sell phones off contract? If $499 is the lowest and Amazon sells off contract then no tax or shipping cost would be better than RS or BB.
I realize the release date is still ad few weeks away but maybe we can use this thread to update competitor pricing for those looking for off contact purchases.
Radio Shack: HTC EVO 3D - $499
Amazon.com: HTC EVO 3D - $469 (no tax, free shipping)
bam! 4th thread asking the same question...... congratulations!!!!!!!!
short answer...... its all speculation. Leaked ad showed it selling at $499 off contract but nothing official was released.
oh that $499 price was Radio Shack. Sprint and Best Buy may have a different price assuming that $499 was accurate.
ok let this thread die until stores officially release pricing
My intention is to keep this thread dedicated to places selling off contract so people don't have to wade through the contract discussion. I would also update the OP to include the list people suggest. I agree there are too many identical threads but this would attempt to direct off contract customers here.
Brick and mortar, online, wholesalers, etc. Preferably avoiding shady places.
until there are official off contract pricing this thread is useless and would just be cluttered up with guesses providing no real info. Let the other threads collect that junk that have been collecting other people's junk.
When there is official pricing then a thread like this would be useful
I am buying off contract as well. I will keep an eye out on this thread but my guess is that Sprint will have the lowest price,BB will have the highest, & not sure about the others.
I just for an email about the Evo 3D from Sprint this morning.
It said $199 on contract with $200 instant savings, and that's it. It'd be hard to believe that it would only be $400, but that's kinda how it looked to me. I'll upload a screen shot in a minute.
Isn't this thing supposed to be an e-reader, weird.

thats how it looks at first glance but read it carefully. $200 instant savings. That may not mean $200 2 year contract instant savings. Or it could.
I just have a hard time believing that the new flagship phone will be cheaper retail than 5 other phones they carry all which have a $300-$350 difference between contract and non contract price
The fine print was posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112504&page=3
I'm also buying off contract.
If it's $199.00 after $200.00 in instant savings then I'm guessing that's also after the full $150.00 contract renewal discount.
I'm predicting it will be $549.00 from Sprint and either the same or $599 from BestBuy.
I already posted what the price is in another thread
199.00 upgrade price
200.00 instant savings
150.00 the upgrade savings
total retail at sprint 549.99

Extremely easy. Just call from a phone other than the two you want to swap. They ask you to turn them off and they ask for some number behind the battery.

I'm hoping for some type of release of a off contract price. Seems kind of odd they haven't released it yet. Kind of pisses me off frankly.
so further thinking, instead of paying $549 for the off contract price, i could buy a new phone, switch the numbers, and pay at most $200 fee. So far $400. Then ebay my old evo for circa $200,and that leaves me with a net off contract price of around 200 bucks for a evo 3d, not bad....
somehow i think sprint has thought of this already and has ways to prevent it.
good luck though

well i know i can add another line, sprint will love that
then i know i can cancel my old line, all they can do is charge me the ETF fee, which is only $100 now since im 1 year in. so i'll pay $300 for phone and fees. then sell for 200 ebay leaves me with paying only $100 for a evo 3d and off contract at that.
the only hurdle to leap is sprint easily allowing me to switch my old number to the new evo 3d

Like what? Stop you from adding a new line? Not allowing you to cancel one of your lines? I tried to talk to a rep about upgrading my discount but was unable to do so.
Sprint and target are offering 150 for used evo 4g, which isn't really a bad deal if you're evo is bad condition, but if yours is in good condition you can easily get 200, probably 250, and a slight chance at 300 if you post at the right time and include the right stuff.
Now there's also radioahack who is offering a whopping 100 for your evo. Like I said above if yours is in good condition go with Craig's or eBay, if not go with target or sprint. $100 ? Really radio shack?
Last of all is best buy. I'm not quite sure about there buy back program but its probably similar
Edit: wirefly is also sellin it right now for 179.99, but according to user RDCRDS, they ill jack I up to 300 if you switch the phone to another line. So for those upgrading your mom/brother/daughters lines, don't go through wirefly.
If you decide to sell your Evo through inline services, I highly recommend starting with craigslist. There are no fees or taxes, but the buyers are usually cheap compared to eBay buyers. With eBay you get a larger customer base and your item will sell for more, BUT and this a big but, sir mix-a-lots type of butt, eBay and PayPal combined, charge an arm and leg for their services. Those fees can be paid back with in 30 days so you can take them out of ur next paycheck to make your self feel better.
Heres a link to an eBay and PayPal fee calculator. If your start your item at 100 and it sells for 270 plus 10 shipping and handling, your total fees will be about 35 bucks
Once you sell, I recommend buying from sprint if the instant rebate service they're offering is still available at the time of launch. The tax charged on these phones is based on the full retail price and sprint usually has the cheapest out of all of the others.
I personally will be buying fromnbest buy because I put 50 bucks down on may 5th to pre order mine through that "secret pre order" thing they were doing.
So where are you guys going to buy from?

Much better thread then the another released date one.
So what you are saying is if Best Buy sells the phone for an extra $100 then everyone else, say $599, that is the price I will be paying tax on? Do you have to pay the tax on the full price of the device anywhere you go? If that is the case, I wish I didn't put $50 down at BB because that just seems wrong!
Can someone confirm this is how it works....

Its to what YOU pay. Lets say sprint is the only one that gave an instant rebate and all other places you have to mail it in. $200-50=150*1.07(for 7%)=$160.50 vs 200*1.07=214-50=164. OK so the difference is 164-160.5=$3.50. So it costs you
roughly a gallon of gas. Nothing to fret about. Also Best Buy has reward zone stuff and well the people that work there usually aren't as dumb as the people that work in a sprint store.
Also in reference to your $100 more that would cost you $7 in tax. Basically take the difference and multiply it by your tax. add the 1 in front of the decimal to add the tax or add a 0 to find out how much the tax is.

I understand the math but thought I would be paying the tax on $200 and not on $600 from Best Buy. So it is actually $400 more then I ws expecting to pay tax on and we are about .0875% here. If you trade in your device, do they give you the tax for it like when you trade in a car?
when I preordered mine at best buy the guy who rang me up told me that the gift card is refundable. I'm pretty sure bsed on past experience that best buy is going to charge 599 for full retal and sprint is going to charge 499. So pretty much you're looking at a 10 dollar dfference if the tax rate in your area is 10%! 50-60 dollars.
Wow that's pretty much the 50 down payment

and i should get no later then the 23rd.
im gona get mine at best buy because in oregon i can get a real deal. probobly around 250 with my 2 year upgrade in september
I already purchased two from wirefly. 179.99 no tax, free shipping and 50 bucks off when used with my BofA add it up. I might have to wait a few extra days after launch but I am patient. So out the door 129.99. This is of course upgrade price.
I went in to Sprint to preorder mine today. This is a corporate store and I asked about the mail in rebate, he told me they are going to be using mail in rebates again with the EVO 3D. He may not have been right, but I do remember when Sprint stopped mail in rebates they said it would be temporary.

I have read elsewhere on here that Best Buy charged people tax on the total cost of the phone. I have no reason to disbelieve these people but that was not my experience. When I purchased my evo from BB last year, I was only charged tax on what I actually paid for the phone. I'm not complaining but I do wonder why this is not uniform all over.

It depends on the state. From what I've read, that's how it works in California. Stores don't get to decide how they charge sales tax on items people buy...state/local government does that for them and they just pass it along to us .

That's only if you order online I think. I recently upgraded one of my lines and had to pay the $18 'upgrade fee'. I tried a couple times to get them to credit it back since I've never had to pay an activation fee because of my work discount, but they just told me their policies changed and it was a 'valid' fee lol. They said the only time it was not charged was online orders only. I can activate/switch as many phones as I want using the online activation thing and not get charged...but having the guy at the store punch in a few numbers costs me $18.
Just Bought mine from WireFly moments ago, $179.99 Free Shipping.
Wirefly is ok but if you have a problem with the phone it is 100% harder to get it fixed replaced because they do not have local stores.
For 20$ more ill go with best buy.Plus if in 5 months if you take the phone off that line they can hit you up for 300$

i've heard/read nothing but bad things about wirefly. i wouldn't know personally b/c i've never used them. is there a perk to preorder with best buy over preordering with local sprint store? seems like i will pay tax/upgrade fee in both places.
I just switched to to sprint. I had the Nexus S 4G but i had reception issues, so I went and got the EVO. I'm gonna return that when the EVO 3D comes out atBest Buy.
Just curious if anybody had any opinions on where the best place to buy this beast would be? So far I'm thinking Amazon Wireless. The Rezound is $200 there and the phone that I will be getting for the wife is free. Beyond that any possible price match scenarios? Thanks in advance for your advice!
If you want it now, then a corporate Verizon Store. If you can wait, then Amazon as its cheaper and you could save on tax.
Wal-mart! If they have it in stock. It's like 220 - 230...
radioshack.com & wirefly.com have it for $249.
wireless.amazon.com has it for $229 (upgrade), $199 (new contract)
I went to Best Buy and had them price match Amazon's price of $229 for my upgrade. Great deal IMO.
I got it with the Accessory Bundle from VZW Store when the opened Monday morning for $288 total on upgrade. But, I had a $50 discount and I am a Veteran(15% Discount)... lol
wirefly.com has it for $220 for new contract. Free FedEx and no sales tax I believe. And they have the double your data offer available too.
Thanks everyone for your input...I'm seriously at war with myself about getting either this or waiting for the Nexus, I just can't decide!

$100 Amazon gift card with Hot Spot plan!
Hey! I was just checking on the Amazon price and they added a new incentive!
If you add a Hot Spot to your service at activation you get a $100 Amazon Gift Card. I don't see any fine print stating how long you have to have the Hot Spot feature. For what I was looking at it costs $20 more per month so even if I keep it for 1 month that's an $80 "discount" on the phone. Brings it down from their current $200 to $120. And I don't think Amazon taxes phones and there's free 2 day shipping.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/?docId=1000745951
And they too have the double data available on their site.
I think I'm about to check out and complete purchase!
Is there anywhere where the retail price is slightly lower than the $650 verizon is asking for?

Craigslist or eBay lol.
I wonder if it occurs to HTC that the lack of S-off and root could effect sales.
Verizon is certainly being rather pricky about not letting me upgrade early...I've gotta wait until December 27th.
I'm on three discontinued plans...unlimited data, the $39.95 Friends and Family phone service, and 500 texts for $5. I don't want to mess with that.

same...i have to wait till like January 4th
I did the Amazon 1 cent deal. It's real. No tax, rebate, shipping charges, nothing! They actually charged my card .01! It's due here tomorrow. And unless there's a rock in the box, I'm prolly gonna like that deal.
I also got in on the 1 cent deal from amazon wireless and waiting for mine as well, it runs til the 28th so if you want to save 200-300 bucks prob the best deal you'll get
Just remember, it's for new customers only. Will not work for upgrade.
OK here's the deal. I am currently phone-less being I sold my GS2 in wake of the note. Now I have two upgrades due in May. My GF also wants a Note and she said she is more than happy with waiting. Me, I tried but I can't lol. Being smart phone less sucks. Not fun bringing my new Transformer Prime around and hoping for wif lol. So here are my options.
One of the upgrades is deff going to my GF. So that leaves one. I figured I could buy the note today for $650 and instead if paying early upgrade price of $550 saving my May upgrade for future phones like a SG3 or whatever. Or better yet I could buy a Note for $300 "full upgrade price" in May and eBay it and make some profit. I have went to all local ATT stores asking to upgrade early, but no go. Even tried customer service. Last year I got my GF a iPhone 4 early 30 days early, but they say they are much more strict now.
Basically should I just pay the retail of $650 and pocket my upgrade for the future? Or pay $550 and extend ans save $100, which seems silly.
I already told my GF I'd sacrifice my PS Vita if I was able to get the Note. I'm dying g to get one!
I also know $650 seems expensive. But I look at it as a investment. Being I would be able to sell it down the road if needed or wanted for at least 60% of my money back. And I'm not signing a contract extension. And I believe not having to pay the $36 new activation fee.
Thanks, I've been reading these forums all day yesterday. So ready for my Note!
Go to best buy they will price match at$t and you get rewards zone points, if you're a silver member they even have a 3x points coupon out now that's good through today.. 650 would get you 1950 points with coupon, equals almost 40 back in reward zone certificate.

Very good point. I am a silver premier member. Thanks for the double points heads up.
I just ordered it from gosale.com for $149. I added a line and am selling my skyrocket. With the money from the skyrocket, i'm paying the cancellation fee. I gotta wait for after 30 days of course but who cares. I'll be getting my note on Wednesday. http://www.gosale.com/5792771/samsung-galaxy-note-4g?gclid=CMDc883cu64CFQxX7AodSkcwNQ

Damn that's a good deal. I'd be all for that if I wasn't at 5 lines already in our family plan. 150 is a steal for the note! Lucky you
Exactly. I just went to google and typed in Samsung Note for sale in US and that link came up. I thought it was bs but the live chat lady actually said its a great deal and she'd walk me through it to ensure I get the $150 discount. Can't wait. Bye-Bye Skyrocket.
Man I'm always missing the great deals! Maybe I should see if I can return my note and get this deal!

It's still up there. I mean $150 is still $150. That's beer money, game money, etc.
I paid full price. Gonna get another new one in June when get full upgrade and give this one to the wife. By that time might be free upgrade. Then I can sell the international I just handed down to her.

Same here. I just got home and I got mine! Super happy, we had to stop at the grocery store and I was bumping into people playing with it lol.
I paid full price, gonna get my gf hers in may. And then save my other upgrade in case the galaxy s3 intrigues me. But I can't see it getting much better than the note, very happy with it thus far.
I just purchased mine for 150... I will try at&t service and determine if i will keep it.. If I decide i don't like it I will cancel my service and buy out my contract... 325... That's a total of 475 for the phone itself... Now that's a deal compared to paying 650...

I hear ya man, today was the first time I laid out full price for a device. I usually go full upgrade or early I must really love the phone
But in my case my other two lines are due for upgrade in may so my gf gets one. And the other I can save for a future "me" device . Or get a note and sell it for $600 on the bay with my upgrade. Thus means I got mine for $300.
We utilize 3-4 of our lines between me and my gf. Id like to drop one off as well and save the $10 a month. The other we give to her parents in the mid west. Otherwise I would have done the $150 deal.
The ATT reps were totally unaware of the 50% off deal too, go figure lol.
Of course they were. They don't know of any of the deals I ask about.
Pay full price. I've been selling almost 10 $500 per Note in Craigslist. Only $100 more from early upgrade
Maybe try another store I just bought a phone back in November when I signed up for At&t. I called the store and said I wanted to buy the phone outright and the guy said why do that when you can do and early upgrade because they were not able to sell the phone off contract at the time. Do you live on Los Angeles? The store I go to is really customer focused.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA App
I paid $375
I just purchased one for $375, because my contract wasn't up until 08/12, so I had to do what they call an "exceptional upgrade". $300 for the phone and $75 for the early upgrade. I did it at one of those authorized AT&T stores, looks like the real store but they have their own price for early upgrades , compared to AT&T with their $175-250 fee. And now I see that premiere customers are eligible for 50% discount so I'll be calling them in the morning to try and get some kind of credit. Even though I really didn't spend any money because I sold my Skyrocket for $400!

sell me one lol
I'll be buying mine outright. $100 difference between outright and extending my contract and losing out on my scheduled upgrade in July? Kind of a no-brainer.
I did an early upgrade and was expecting to pay $550. It rang up at $500. The rep didn't know why. My upgrade wasn't due until March of '13.

Maybe once the GN3 is officially released it will be eligible for this promotion which will bring the price down to $300. I'm going to check on it again tomorrow.

Hi. So was this on an upgrade or a new line or new customer? If an upgraded did BB give you any hassle? I'm getting mine on Saturday but was thinking that BB would just say that no price match since one is ATT and one is Sprint. I guess the same could be said about the "port your number" price. I can handle confused sales people as long as I have a "logical" argument as to why the price match so applies.

Thanks. I figured asking for 249 would be pushing it I think I'll just ask them to price match ATT then see what I can get for my Note 2 for trade in. Also, the one up looks attractive but I would hate giving up my grandfathered unlimited data family plan.

Push it to the limit! I too got it for $249.99, if not possible then settle for $299.99 and if both are no dice go to a different Best Buy and be friendly to the person helping you!!
A little bit of conversation, smile, and charisma go a long way [I was trying to flirt with her -- she was good looking LOL].
Would have been super nice if I also got the$50 gift card, but I didn't :silly:
I got my sprint note 3, added a line, no number port. The guy who sold me the phone found it for $249 on wirefly and price matched. I liked to have died, thanks bestbuy.
On side note, no one up program @ bestbuy. Only sprint stores or sprint.com.

Thanks to all who posted about asking BB to price match. I went to a Best Buy Mobile store and asked about price matching to the wirefly.com price and was told "No." Then went to a larger Best Buy store and asked about price matching and was told "No problem." Got the phone for $299 upgrade price.

Best Buys price match policy on their website clearly states they do NOT price match online retailers. With that being said, yes some do get lucky. What I did was look up other brick and mortar retailers to see what they showed as the "advertised price". Fry's has it for $249.99, so does Sam's Club, heck, even sprint has it "advertised" for $249.99, it's not until you look at the "fine print" that it shows $100 discount is for clients bringing their number from another carrier.
So if you want you can save another $50, use that towards a screen protector / case :silly:
I guess the Note 3 is not eligible for the promotion. I went to a Best Buy Mobile kiosk in the mall and they told me it was but when I went to the purchase the phone they told me it wasn't part of it and refused to honor the promotion.
Did anybody try to price match after already have bought the phone?
Upon finding this thread, I immediately headed to best buy with proof of Sprint.com prices and such, and was denied by the manager on the grounds that they only price match if you do it on the day of the purchase. That the 15 day price match guarantee only applies to their own prices, and even then, mobile contract phones do not apply.
Thoughts?
Edit: I bought the phone on october 4th as an eligible upgrade. I actually got two, one for my wife and for me. We had two eligible upgrades.

If you want the discounts try another person / manager in the store. If not then try another store. If all fails you can go the route of returning them within 14 days or threatening to unless they match the price.
Good luck.
Hate bestbuy lol
I just went to bestbuy spoke to a manager and everything, Amazon has the gn3 on contract for 250 even for existing customers, they wont price match it, he even showed me in their price match guide where it says "no price match for on contract phones"... Then he says well how about a case (got one) how about a screen protector (got one), I said how about a gift card? Nope! lol... oh well I may take it back, and get it off amazon, its just lame how they say "beat any price" and then there is a bunch of fine print!
Yall that got them to price match, Thats freaking great!!
