So...just got the EVO 3D like many other today...
I need a good screen protector either from Amazon or Best Buy ASAP. Not sure what brands are the best or if there's a good one out for the E3D as of yet.
Next, looking for a holster (case and belt clip) that can securely hold me over until the ballistic cases are out. I'm not keeping this thing in my pocket where it could get inadvertently scratched.
Looking for best suggestions!

I'm considering TPU until Ballistic.
Well as far as the screen protector goes I'm a huge Bodyguardz fan. But as of now that does no one any good as they are taking their sweet time getting this to the market. Was hoping to have it here before I had the phone.
As for the case I'll be keeping an eye on this thread. I love the sexy design and look of this phone so I would love to keep it naked, but the thought of it not looking that way a year from now makes me sad, so I may put some protection on it.
I see a few decent looking screen protectors on Amazon but I have no idea if they are of good quality. Any word on if Radio Shack or Best Buy are actively selling accessories yet? Or not until Friday? - Soooo worried about damaging this thing.
I've gotten dependent on my Blackberry holster so I feel like my phone is insanely exposed without it.
Zagg Invisible Shield
Just an FYI.
Best Buy and the Sprint store don't have the shields for the EVO 3D as of today, at least my local stores. But Radio Shack claims to have a couple when I called. I'm not sure if its just the screen protector or the full body shield.
just bought this... http://shop.htcpedia.com/htc-messenger-side-case-with-belt-clip.html
im a huge fan of invisible shield by zagg. had it on my hero since day 1, my evo since day 1 (did have to replace it once but it was covered under that LIFETIME warranty), and I will have my invisible shield already on my 3D before I pick it up in the AM

They are mixing up the evo 4g with the 3d because Zagg has NOT made a shield of any kind for the 3d
Love how zagg looks hate how tacky it feels. Their replacement and warranty is absolutely the best though. They are a top notch company in my book.

Not true, Best Buy already has them. Both regular and Anti-Smudge/Anti-Glare.

Ballistic HC page is up, enter your email for updates. It looks like the case has more protection for the camera area than the SG.
The optional outer layer looks different from the Evo 4G. It appears to have both camera and kickstand available with the outer layer.

although i think seido's rugged cases they made for the EVO are the toughest
doesnt look bad for a tough case, are they typically better quality than otterbox?

I know the original Evo 4G Otterbox Defender case was not made at the same factory as the iPhone cases. Thus, there was a seriously lower level of quality. However, regardless of variables, I have found Ballistic cases to be far sturdier than Otterbox. The top of the line Otterbox Defender can barely be compared to the Ballistic mid-level SG offering.
The advantage of Ballistic is that the outer layer is optional. When you strip off the outer layer, you have a case of similar size to the Otterbox Defender and it's still far superior to the Otterbox.
Just so you know I don't work for Ballistic, I will say that I am considering a Trident Kraken this go round also. And in reality, I will take whichever I can get my hands on first.
I think I might have to get one of these...
With me being in the military and about to deploy, I want this case. Too bad is out of stock...

I hate Zagg, that's what I've used for the past year, it took quite a while to lose the gripped feel.
I just caved in and bought the Otterbox Defender, it should hold me over until Ballistic or Trident put something nicer out. I'm not an Otterbox fan, but the alternative was the Seidio Rugged which didn't last long on my Evo 4G.
Otterbox don't have jack on this one. Will definitely be getting it.

There are other wet screen protector options that offer just as much protection without the orange peel and grippiness. I don't know what's available for the 3D though...
True, but I personally used my dental grinder at work on the zagg to confirm its claim. So ever since then, I haven't had the urge to try anything else. I'm a creature of habit.

Be careful with that. They (Sprint) charge $4.99 per minute if you're going to Iraq, and $5.99 per minute for Afghanistan. Be sure to turn every sync feature off, and just use WiFi (if you have a signal near you) on your phone if you plan on bringing it.

This looks like a nice case, but how much bulk is it going to add? That thing looks like a monster. The Seidio Active is only 2.2mm, and still that is going to be quite a bit, I don't think I could deal with much more than that.

I went to BestBuy yesterday looking for a case and I saw that one. In my opinion, it has two problems.
1.- The kickstand is made of thin plastic, it might be functional, but it doesnt look very sturdy.
2.- (The biggest one) Once the phone is on the stand, the USB port ends up facing the table so you cant charge your phone and use the kickstand at the same time.
On the other hand, its the only option for now if you have to have one.
I rather wait until the official comes out or the dock.
The official HTC case for the 3VO will be just like the Thunderbolts, nice and slim with a meaty metal kickstand.
i bought the body glove vibe cover from the sprint store and love it. it only comes in purple that i know of. it is 24.99 and i received 25% off for buying two accessories.
edit it fits perfectly in the car dock from sprint.
I shelled out the 35 for the kickstand case (pt) from BB. More than I would usually spend on a case but it doesn't add much bulk at all and the kickstand is nice to have. It does seem on the fragile side but it locks in pretty good so I don't think it will pop out when it's not supposed to. There are 2 settings - out and out a little further. The 2nd enables you to stand it in portrait and thus charge the phone. Not a perfect case, but pretty nice.
The body glove kickstand idea looks cool but it looks bulky and well ... it's purple.

I got this yesterday also...I really like it, and I'm not a case-kind-of-guy! My OG EVO, no case, perfect condition not a single mark on it. I feel this phone has to have it just to be able to set it down safely without scratching the camera lenses which I did on my first E3D within 4 days, not good! I feel a lot more safe with this case and the cheesy little kickstand works fine. Was hoping it would still fit into that HTC car mount but no go. Picked up the universal car mount at Sprint and I am a happy E3D owner!
anyone have experience with this case? thoughts?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Holst...ps=63&clkid=5516073863120009085#ht_1377wt_702
OK, I'm not a fan. Its an OtterBox knockoff without the hard plastic case. But $9.00, you have nothing to loose!
Isn't it more like this one?
http://www.amazon.com/Technocel-Hol...QO/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1326241379&sr=8-12
For the price I'd go with Technocel over ebay's version. I actually have it and it's quite nice.
Believe it or not they are the SAME EXACT item. Technocel asks a manufacturer in China to make it, then they make it for Technocel, then sell some on eBay themselves. I ran into the same situation with the following:
this Amazon case
and
this eBay case
SAME THING!
I got it on eBay for $2.95 + free shipping.
BoxWave was going to sell it for $19.95 and a shipping charge. I bought it from eBay, while BoxWave was having a pre-sale. (It would be shipped when ready.) People actually paid $19.95 for it.
I emailed the company and told them and their response was "I'm glad you found a similar case."
I sent them the links, and they replied "It is the same, because of this, we will lower our price to $9.95", and they did, but I got the case before it came out in the US directly from the manufacturer at a cheaper price.

The issue I see with this case as well as the Technocel one is the fact neither provide much screen protection in the sense that if your Motorola Photon 4G falls either face down or bounces on the ground and ends up face down, your LCD more than likely will shatter. If I'm not sporting the Otterbox Defender Series case for mine, I'll carry my Motorola Photon 4G in a Trident Aegis Series one. True, the Aegis Series cases don't have a holster clip like the one you reference or the Technocel case/holster combo Mongofrye, but I find the Aegis case by itself is thin enough for keeping in my pocket.

At the same time, both cases provide a lip that protect the screen. At the same time, you have a Gorilla Glass Screen. Now, I love Trident, and I would have a Trident case for my Photon but I could not stand not having a landscape holster. So, that is the only reason why I choose the Defender...
Trident does have wonderful cases though!
Go for the Trident Aegis if you don't mind being without a holster, guys! Great Case!.

i saw this one on amazon and figured it is like the one they sell at the sprint store. I like it because (minus the holster) it is very low profile.
I honestly like very basic protection. i hate adding tons of bulk to my phone. The one on Ebay looks different in the fact that it has a soft inside on the holster and the clip swivels in order to act like a stand. Could be used at a desk and you could flip it around to allow charging while in landscape mode.
Either way, i looked a little deeper into amazon and found i think the same one as the one you posted above for only $2.99 + .99 shipping. I went ahead and ordered it. I'll report back on quality.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006L8APYQ/ref=oh_o03_s00_i00_details
In my opinion, the TPU cases provide probably the best protection with the least amount of bulk, but i just can't stand that there aren't cutouts over the volume and camera buttons. Such a pain. If anyone can find me one, i'll jump on it.
This is just another instance where the case is the EXACT same as the Technocel case listed above, and for this reason, I'm gonna go ahead and order it. Savingsss, oh, how I love savings!

I'm getting the commuter and a set of really nice screen protectors for this. I had the Defender for my DInc2; it was too bulky and the built in screen protector sucked a lot. It got dirty really easily and dust got under it too well. I'd rather have a slimmer case and a quality screen protector.
The accessory I'm most excited about is the Media Link though. It's a pretty penny, but that will be a really cool feature. Emulators on your TV with your phone as the controller. It's gonna be real nice.

I had a defender for my Evo OG and I was able to remove the protector and use my phantomskinz. It was just held in with some type of adhesive and it actually made a pretty good seal with my screen protector.
So if you want to go without a protector, I would imagine it shouldn't be a problem to remove.
Is there a band to go around it? Similar to how the iPhone antennae issue was "fixed". I don't want a case, but I would like a ~2mm lip to protect the glass when laying face down.
Edit: After some googling, apparently they are called bumpers. I can probably get a cheap-o from ebay after release. Does anyone have any experience with a bumper case?

TPU-cases.com are usually $8 or so in the early stages and then once more knockoffs come to market you can get cheaper. Honestly, I would pay evwn more as long as I have a case the day my phone arrives that I know I will like. Put a case on as soon as box is open and phone will look like new next year when it's time to upgrade, again.

I used them on my evo 3d and on my LTE. They are wet application. They are made of the same material as zaggs invisible shield. Quality may vary even on same products. Overall I would recomment them. Great price and as durable as overpriced zagg.

awesome savings. got myself some too. pretty good deal.. might not be the best out there.. but the price is pretty great especially with the coupon.
Thanks, I'm in for 1 full body and 2 screen only. $5 can't be beat.
I put mine on the other day. Not a big fan of the way it feels but you can't tell it's on since it covers the entire screen and it seems pretty durable. Can't beat it for the price.

Its got that Orange Peel feel to it huh?
yeah.. i'm expecting it to be a very cheap version of zagg.. basically the same stuff.. but at a price where it should be.. lol.
cheap.. as in price only.
How long should I expect this stuff to get to me? Would I be correct in assuming a flight across the Pacific will happen to my product first?

It's not really an orange peel feel. It's smooth, my finger just sticks to it a little too much at times. Maybe it'll get better as I use it. But for around $1 a protector you can't complain. I'm sure I'll put a better one on later but for now it gets the job done
haha im not complaining. I figured i can use the screen protector of course, but i also figured i can use it to cover the back plate that pops off. THats gonna scratch big time as time goes on. And see, thats why i wasnt a big fan of Zagg. It offers good protection, but it does feel kinda sticky. But im pretty stoked to see how it comes out
One important thing to point out is that there are not cut outs for the proximity sensor and light sensor. I have it on my phone and it doesn't affect the performance of the sensors but I can see this being a problem for others. If you want to play it safe you can always make the cut out yourself before you apply the screen protector.

Ohh really? Ya know, I just got 4 cheapo one from EBay. Smae thing. No cut outs. But they were only $2 for four of them. And the proximity sensor works just fine when making a phone call and such. I just want to really cover the back cover that snaps off.

Overall its a great product and it will be staying on my phone for as long as I have it. Full body xtremeGuard + Otterbox Commuter is great. I would buy it at its regular price which is still cheap.
