I rooted my TB using the manual root method from this forum. I am prepping to sell it now and would like to know if I can use the built-in "restore to factory settings" in the settings menu or do I HAVE to follow the back to stock thread and do all the flashing?
I have never installed any ROMS. I did flash CW recovery (3.0.2.5) but that's it. I am stock rooted and always have been. Some apps are frozen using titanium backup but none have been removed.
Current software version 1.12.605.6 Build # 1.12.605.6 CL338893 release keys.
** My main purpose for restoring is to remove the primary gmail account from the phone. I don't really care if it stays rooted or becomes unrooted in the process. If I could remove the account I would just sell it rooted but I don't want the new owner having access to all my info obviously. And of course I get the message that the account cannot be removed when I try because it is the primary account **
Thanks.
Yes, you should be fine by doing settings and factory resetting as it will remove the account

Dear all,
I've experienced two problems when using Titanium Backup (newest version) restoring app from Dell streak (Froyo) to my new I9100 (UK O2 2.3.5), spent whole afternoon today search around and they seem to be quite unique... :
1, App-only restore works fine. However, if restore the data at the same time, apps always crash. Would this be because of the I9100 has "SD" and "external SD" while Streak only has "SD"?
2, The second problem is a long one and by my own fault. I accidentally "restored" the contacts system app and data from Dell streak to I9100...
This crashed my I9100's google framework, the phone dialer, the contacts, and the Messaging. The dialer and contacts icons simply disappeared from the launcher and the application list. A factory reset would not solve this problem.
Error messages were like "The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly. " and "the process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly" etc.
I ROMed the phone firstly with a customer 2.3.4, the dialer etc. back to work. Then I ROMed it again with O2 stock 2.3.3, the dialer etc. icons were back too, BUT couldn't open with same ERR messages. Finally ROMed it with O2 stock 2.3.5, the dialer etc. back to work again.
Have I done this correctly and is there any better solutions? Shall I do a clean up to eliminate any bad residue files or better just leave it for now?
BTW my Kies recognize my O2 Stock ROM now so guess my future upgrade to ICS will be fine?
Many thanks in advance.
Anyone knows the answer to problem #1 with my titanium backup between 2.2 and 2.3.5 systems?
I'm about to add apps back to my I9100 today using Android market online. But would be very delighted if I can restore the data using Ti Backup as well. I have lots of personal data with Apps like Notes, V1golf, whatsapp, etc.
Thanks!
apps designed for froyo will not always work properly with gingerbread as the file structure is different, you may have to reload the data manually so that the sd card formats it correctly.
you should have wiped the cache and daavik cache before flashing, if the porblem persisted, you needed to do a factory reset to get rid of any stray code from flashing a back up that is in a different format.
Many thanks.
I'll manually reload as much data as I can...
The problem is not showing up after the 2.3.5 update. I'll backup my apps + datas every two months from now on, and keep the 2.3.5 O2 stock ROM.
Just in case the problem comes out again when upgrading to ICS... Is it likely to happen again? Or ICS upgrade via Kies will wipe the cache and daavik cache automatically?
It should not happen again as 2.3.5 and up will be compatible with ICs but when flashing it is always best to clean them yourself before flashing.
When ICS comes out read carefully and foloow the developers instructions as it will most like come out as a custom rom before official stock firmware comes out.
Is there any method of doing this cache cleaning during normal operation, which won't affect any personal data etc.?
Well, even this won't do any harm to the existing system, I'll backup everything on SD also copy to my PC before doing anything... Lesson already learned...
Hello All,
This may sound like a totally noob question.
I have my Galaxy S2 updated earlier to HyperDroid 4.4.7 base only with no surgeons or themes. I was liking the original like touch and feel with the added functionalites. I did install numerous applications from the market place according to my needs.
Now since the HyperDroid 5.0.0 is available , I used the phone ->-Settings->Hyperdroid Parts menu to download and apply the upgrade to the phone.
The upgrade went fine however I have lost all my custom phone settings and my installed applications. The phone starts now and asks for the google account to login.
So is there a way I can recover all phone settings and the installed applications only. Of course this should exclude the hyperdroid base which is updated to a newer version.
I guess the upgrade process did a backup automatically before applying, when booting in the CWM recovery mode. But I am not sure how to restore this backup, where is it saved by default and by restoring this backup would it restore the applications and settings only or it would also practically downgrade the base ROM to the earlier version since the backup was taken before applying the upgrade.
Also suggest what should be a standard and safe way to apply upgrade in order to ensure all phone settings, applications and user files (docs/pictures/music) would stay the same or can be restored after an upgrade.
Thanks for clarifying my confusion once and for all for all future upgrades.
Cheers.
Titanium Backup should cover all of that

If you had read the changelog provided, you would have seen it's a full wipe release. If you didn't back up your data before flashing the ROM, your data is gone.

No, a backup is not automatically made. The backup/restore is a feature of the recovery, you can manually create/restore backups. Installing hyperdroid 5.0.0 does not automatically create a backup.
Making a backup using this feature backs up your ROM completely, all your apps, settings etc including the base ROM. For example if you had a backup of your previous Hyperdroid 4.4.7 ROM and flashed Hyperdroid 5.0.0, restoring your backup would revert you to Hyperdroid 4.4.7
Also suggest what should be a standard and safe way to apply upgrade in order to ensure all phone settings, applications and user files (docs/pictures/music) would stay the same or can be restored after an upgrade.
Titanium backup should be able to backup and restore your settings and applications, user files shouldn't be touched with hyperdroid's full wipe so they should all still be there.
Thanks for clarifying my confusion once and for all for all future upgrades.
Cheers.

So recently i stopped using MIUI on my phone and switched back to stock, after doing this i updated my phone to gingerbread. Only after using titanium backup to install my data and apps from when my phone was on MIUI did the 3G stop working. I have done a factory reset and installed everything again and as before the mobile network ceases to work after installing with titanium backup. What i was thinking is that it must be something in the data from the MIUI rom that was backed up onto titanium that is causing my phone to do this.
Any solutions.
Thanks
Hi Friends,
I have just installed Jelly Bean 4.3 in my Galaxy S3 thru OTA. But its a bit lagy. People are suggesting to do a factory reset after installing 4.3 so that it will not be lagy.
I have many games, apps installed and I need the games' saved files and data to be backed up and restored after factory reset. Please let me know a way for this. My phone is not rooted so that I will not be able to use some backup apps which requires root for backing up games data files. I have some 100+ downloaded apps and games which I need to backup and restore them after factory reset. Help me!
Thanks in advance.
Without root you will manually have to copy and paste the saved folders from your internal sd card, there is no way to backup or restore the apps themselves.
So when I moved from the Evo to the S3 I took the advice of many to use MyBackup Pro and I don't remember any issues. Decent interface to save the data you need and skip what you don't. Mine's also unrooted and am about to do exactly what you're doing for the same reason - I'm banking HEAVILY on it working well... wish me luck, and good luck to you.
