trying to transfer my apps from my captivate over to my atrix
(app+app data)
I copied over my TitaniumBackup folder from my PC to my atrix
but my titanium backup can't seem to "see" the folder or the old apps.....is there a fix or am I doing something wrong?
thanks
bump my thread
Maybe you should check the direction of the folder where you have backupped your Apps.

Check to make sure that your Titanium Backup folder is in the same location that you had with your Captivate. This was a problem for me in the past.

^yup
same location
SD card
just to make sure, I tried backuping fruitninja THD that I installed on my atrix
it went into the titaniumbackup folder that I put on the internal sd/storage but it doesn't detect my other app backups

Hmm, you could try creating a new backup folder in TB and then moving the old backups over.

fiddled around with preferences.....now it seems to work now
thanks all
I'm glad you figured it out...i had problems when i loaded a new rom...i went into settings, preferences, down to trouble shooting and set App processing to "Auto, Indirect"
Also another setting that has helped some in the same situation is in preferences as well... scroll down to "Migrate system data" this helps compatibility issues with ROM's.
Hope this helps someone in the future.
cheers
I see you fixed it but I believe you needed to choose refresh app list from menu. Just in case anyone else has this problem maybe it will help them.

I believe i did do that each time but nothing happened
but then I went into preferences then selected the folder for the "where to store" part of TiBu
nonetheless, glad I got it working and if anyone stumbles onto this problem, hopefully they'll see this thread

Also when im going to freezing some Samsung apps it's taking absolutely ages is this normal, and finally when i conenct the cable from the phone to the USB it brings up kies but it doesn't show my SD card even and i need to copy some stuff onto my SD card, apologies for all the questions ths GS2 is a completely new thing for me for the last year and 4 months prior to me getting this phone ive had a HD2 and you get so used to that.

Yeah it should not be a problem. I moved from a Captivate to the SGS2 and simply copied the Titanium backup folder from my old phone to the internal SD on the SGS2 and it located them. If it does not, you can tell it to refresh again. Or you can change the location Titanium looks for it based on the previous posters suggestion.
Thanks for that, does anyone know why it takes so long to freeze the Samsung apps in Titanium backup, can i freeze them all at once and can it be done quicker?
I think you have to enable 'USB Debugging', least that worked for me.
So I finally got my Transformer Prime and rooted it manually using the NachoRoot method because I wanted to get rid of all the ASUS bloat apps. After I rooted it, I installed Titanium Backup (free version cause my Market account is broke right now with purchases stuck in the Pending state) and since I couldn't use the "Freeze" function with the free version, my n00bness thought that if I backed them up first using Titanium Backup, then deleted them, that Titanium Backup would be able to restore them, but I found out the hard way, that wasn't the case... I've since read that it will only restore them if the app is still on the device.
So, my question to the people with more wisdom then myself is...
Is there a manual way to get those apps back on there via the backups that TiBa made?
I tried unarchiving them and manually putting the .apk's back in /system/app/ folder, but I noticed that the .odex file I don't have anymore and they're not showing up in the app drawer just putting the .apk files in there by themselves.
Is there anyone that would be so gracious as to do a full dump of the /system/app/ folder on the 8.8.3.33 build so I can just put the .apk's and .odex's back in there using Root Explorer?
My goal is to get those back in there the way it came stock and go back to using the Freeze method so it doesn't remove them so I don't have any issues when the ICS update hits.
Thanks in advance for anyone who chimes in to help!

i experience with Tbu is that you can batch add apps and their data regardless of whether you have them on the device or not... thats the whole point of it
and there is a dumb i believe in the development area... if i had my cable at work i woulda done it
but as long as you backed up in Tbu, just batch install them all
System dump: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1418487
Also, next time do a NAND backup of possible.
You could always reflash your ROM too.
And yes, Titanium backup keeps all the files you backed up in a folder. So even if you removed it from your device. Titanium has a copy on your SD card.
Thanks for the reply.
When I go into the batch section (I'm now on the paid version of TiBa), if I go into "Restore all apps with data" or "Restore missing apps with data", those both show nothing in the list to restore... but I know they're there cause I see them on the SD card in the TitaniumBackup folder and if I do a "Verify all your backups", they all show up.
I take it I'm missing something or am in the wrong menu?

No, does the same thing as when I try to restore with data... just sits there saying "restoring" but I can let it go for 10 minutes on just one app and I eventually just force quit it since I know it's not doing anything.

Okay, so I downloaded that dump (thank's for the link)... so if I just put in the .apk and .odex for each app TiBa removed, will that do it? Is there anything else attached to each app that would go anywhere else besides the user data (which I don't want anyway)?
If you see tbu app backup stuff on your memory card you may need to go into the settings menu of tbu and change backup folder location to the place where that folder is on your sd

how would you do a NAND backup without booting into ClockworkMod? Unless i've missed it somewhere that is not yet available on Primes, and there are no ROMS available as of yet.

Okay, so I downloaded that system dump and tried taking the apk and odex for AppLocker (one I had removed with TiBa) and put them in /system/app/ and set the permissions the same as the other apps in the app folder and restarted the device... AppLocker doesn't show up in the app drawer
Any ideas why?

And how would I flash an update if it's already on the latest version from ASUS?
You should be able to push the apk to system to data - the odex should be created in dalvik_cache on boot (you need to rename them if you want to move them into /system)
what happens if you just run the apk? will it not install itself?

have you tried putting .33 on an sd card and doing a manual update. I know you already have it on, but if you put it on the sd card, it usually asks again if you want to update.
So i backed up all my apps to my internal SD card. i flashed a new rom, installed TB, and now it wont see my backups. I verified that its looking in the correct folder, that the files still exist, and that there are .apk.gz files in the backup folder. Still though, it wont show any apps when I try to restore all missing apps.
If i install the apks for each app though, it has no problem restoring the data for the apps. What gives?
This has happened on Touch Wiz, CM9, and AOKP.
Any help is appreciated.

I have the exact same issue! I have tried everything and no luck. I created a similar thread and no one has any ideas why this is happening. Please let us know if you find the answer. I pretty much redownloaded all of my apps to just get it over with.
Good luck
Probably a stupid question, but after you changed the path and tripple check that it's the correct path where all your backups are, did you restarted TB/phone?
If you simply hit back button it doesn't actually quit TB.
I am having the same problem. I am noticing that tubular just isn't doing the restores correct at all. For instance I did a restore of Shadowgun and my saves weren't restored. I have never had these issues before I came to the S3

I had the same problem with Titanium Backup at first. My backups were on my external SD card straight outta my DroidX. I assumed /mnt/sdcard/TitaniumBackup would be the right location, but on the SGS3 you have to go to /mnt/extSDcard/TitaniumBackup or manually copy the folder over first. Once I fixed that path, it started restoring just fine.
If you go to the filter, and select Backed Up instead of All, do they show up then?
I had a similar issue. Try removing titanium backup from the Super user app, then run titanium backup again.

I have a similar problem with Ti backup too.
It sees zero apps.
uninstalled
reinstalled
removed from superuser
updated SU binaries
folder location is in appropriate place
even cleared cache/dalvik and fix permissions in recovery when it was uninstalled.
I redirected the the save location to my external SD card and it worked for me. It may only be seeing your internal sd card
Today, all my backups in Titanium Backup Pro vanished, but when I scan for them on my external SD, the app says there are 322 backups found and it locates the data, but it won't show up in my apps list.
Never seen this before, and I'm not sure how to resolve it. Not sure what caused, it but I'm hoping some of you might have an idea.
have you tried repointing Titanium Backup to the directory that your apps are backed up to?

would also try this first. If it not helps, try reinstall Titanium Backup (not only the pro key)
Do you have any app filters on by chance? (other than that, if you're restoring files, you can probably do a batch restore then just choose the apps)

Yay! :good:
I just flashed Omega rom and everything is working fine. However, when I downloaded and installed titanium pro to restore all my apps which I had backed up, there's nothing showing up in the form of "apps" that can be restored.
Basically there's nothing to restore..as there are zero apps in the restore section of titanium showing up.
I've looked at my files and the titanium backup file is there on my external sd card with 1GB of data.
I've "unknown apps" and usb debugged checked so other than that, I don't know what else I can do to figure it out.
How come I can't get all my stuff restored?
check your filters.
then check to make sure titanium is looking at the right folder.

What do I have to look for in the filters? Where can I see where titanium is checking for the restore from?
on the top of the list, there's a choice to set filters.
use the menu settings to check where titanium is looking for the restore file......

I know where the filters are, but what am I looking for in them?
Also, in menu settings what do I click in order to see where its looking for restore file?
in the filters, you make sure it is filtered to show everything... what else?
this isn't really rocket science... but settings --> Preferences --> backup folder location.
kinda logical....
Ah thanks, I was looking for "restore" folder location!
I've the paid version of titanium, but I still had to click install for each app when restoring them. I thought this could be done in a batch process?
