Hi Guys
I've got VillainsRom 1.1 installed, which was installed using Odin, I'm now trying to update to v1.4, but the file is in a .zip format, rather than the MD5 used by Odin. So I'm trying to install it using Rom Manager, but when it reboots into the install mode, it displays a message saying "Unable to verify".. Any clues on how to fix this?
Hi
Try unzip the file...in there you will find what you are looking for (md5 file)

why are you using rom manager? best to just reboot into recovery(I take it you have rooted via cf-root?) and flash it from there.
And don't ask questions in Development.

Please follow instructions in the thread. Do NOT use rom manager. You should install via CF-Root as guided

i open clockworkmod in recovery mode->install .zip from sd card->choose .zip from sd card-> click yes and then start to install but immidiatelly says "installation aborted"...what should i check????????
If you reboot does your phone still boot back in to the existing rom? If so I would would start again and re-do CF-root. not sure if you followed this guide but here is a link anyway - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399

i've tried villainrom and cognition....currently i'm running on lightinrom but that was flashed through odin....:/
it boots normally back to lightinrom...when i flash the cf root kernel thorough odin it would not boot rather than stay on the samsung galaxy s logo...it's drivin me nuts...don't know what to try.....
have you tried downloading a different rom and tried that?
As sicopat said, it may be worth downloading again and trying that.
What rom you trying to flash?
i've tried sensation rom, villainrom and cognition rom...all do the same...when i press ok to install the rom cwm reads data, says update installation and then immidiatelly installation aborted....someone experienced gs2 user please help....
I would try going back to stock and start from scratch dude. I'm not overly experienced as I've only had my SGS2 a week, but I followed all the guides and didnt get any issues. Seems like its a problem with CWM if its not letting you do anyy roms at all?
You are getting the orange CWM 4.0.0.2 screen right?
Also I would try posting in the Q & A section.

It sounds like you are using the Rom Manager from the Market when you should be using the CWM app.
If you don't have the CWM app and you are using a kernel that has CWM, you need to boot into Recovery using Power, Volume Up and Home buttons then install your zip from the sd card.
Just use the flash update mode.
i tried both rom manager and cwm app separetly...even when i tried rom manager it would sent me to the cwm recovry........do you think it has anything to do with my pc unziping the roms the moment the're downloded????because that happend and i compressed them back to zip files.....:/

Yes of course, you should not be unzipping the files because it corrupts them. Do yourself a favour and become more familiar with flashing instructions, it will save you a lot of panic and anxiety, like what you have just been through.
I had a nightmare getting CWM 4.0.0.9 onto my ace, however I flashed coderom with Odin which gave me CWM.
Now I cant get Cyanogen mod to install using CWM, I have tried reflashing my phone with XPB and starting afresh and also redownloaded any files I needed. When tring to flash I get the following... what on earth am I doing wrong? Is there a way to just flash this to my phone with Odin as I know this works!!
-- Installing: /sdcard/cm-7.1.0-beta2-cooper-03.10.11-grif_07.zip

Maybe sd card problems where transfer of the zip corrupted the file? Are you sure you are on clockworkmod?
100% certain I am using clockworkmod, I have tried downloading the files a few times. Using the phone to download and also using a laptopto download and then transfering the files. its driving me nuts!
I do have another microsd card at home so may try using that
heay guys im trying to install cm9 but i cant boot into cwm, im on stock gingerbread with kernel DCKK2. I used Rom manager to install cwm, this error message comes up,
E: failed to verify whole file signature
E: signature verification failed
and what makes it worse was i download a program that was meant to flash cwm and it installed a driver onto my phone and now my phone isnt detected by odin either -_- (the driver was called zadig)
and yes i used search and couldn’t find any solutions that worked for me..
plzzz help mee
Install Mobile Odin and flash a CFroot-kernel.
AND DO NOT USE ROM MANAGER known problem with CM
CWM Manager
Looks like you didn't do your "homework" and read up, no you didn't, otherwise you would have read the stickies in the forum on how to root, flash etc
Moral is; If your not sure or confident, read more until you are ready...........
Note: ROM Manager is incompatible with SGS2 as recovery & kernel are flashed to same partition! So you need to flash a kernel with CWM recovery.
Do not flash this kernel if you have a 9100G model.
1. Install Chainfire's CWM Manager app attached.
2. Download a CF-root kernel from Chainfire's thread [14.01.2012][CF-Root 5.2] K/EFGHIJKL*, KP1/2/4/8/A, LA2, LP1/2 -su+bb+CWM4/5. Read his instructions on finding a matching kernel.
3. Extract the kernel "zImage" and place it on your internal sdcard (not external/removable).
4. Run CWM Manager app and allow Superuser permission.
5. Install kernel zImage
6. Follow any further instructions............
when i try and install CWM manager it says "application not installed"

1. Run app and allow Superuser permission if requested
2. Tap "Kernel"
3. Select either internal or externel; where you saved the kernel zImage (you extracted it earlier right?)
4. Navigate to where you saved the zImage and tap
5. Follow instructions ................
Edit: If still unsure, read and search Chainfire's Mobile Odin thread first,........ only then ask there
i god, i think my phone is briked :O i did exectly what u said picked the kernal, then flashed it, now my phone stalls on the start up screen, i can boot into cwm but nothing works in it(E: can't mount) and when i go to downloading mode to use odin, it doesnt detect it?? plz help mee
hi guys,
everytime i try to download and install something through the kitchenpro app, it downloads the file, reboots into cwm to install it, but the instalation screen blinks just for a second and then reboots again and nothing changes in the OS. any ideas ?
Hi,
Which kernel are you using ? Some kernels do not support automatic installation and you have to do it manually in CWM.
Cheers
Tapatalked from my GT I9100
I have an older version of kitchenpro but I believe in the newer version their is something in settings that fixes cwm not flashing. So check there first.
Another option is to download from the kitchen but install manually by booting into cwm recovery and installing from there.
Sent from my GT-I9100T
which option should I use ? install zip from sd card or install update ? thank you
Install zip then choose zip then browse to the file you want to install.
Edit: did you try that fix I mentioned previously?
Sent from my GT-I9100T
i restored my previous (stock) rom after that problem appeared, so I'll give it a try later, but thank you anyway guys !
I also have a problem with Checkrom V4's V2.4 kitchen pro. Download is fine, but once in CWM to install them automatically, it says cant open: XXX Installation aborted. Once I download them using Kitchenpro, I just go into CWM manually and install them individually.
I had to turn off that super-feature in kitchenpro (CWM FIX), now it works

Just wait a sec
What do you mean with downloading
where do u try to flash the rom
via recovery odin or adb?
In general those error messages appear if there went something wrong with the signing procedure
this often happens with custom roms
Chances are a bad download, as above re download and try again before doing anything else

The zip file isn't recognized by the Rom I am using or recovery. I guess I should flash a Rom with fastboot: fastboot flash zip rom.zip.
I don't get it! I have flashed a stock Rom and these errors appear out of nowhere!? I guess I may have to format my sdcard.
Could it be a problem with sdcard partitioning?

How am I meant to return to stock now?
I have voided my warranty with HTCDev and now I can't use any ruu's at all, in case it does not work and my phone gets messed up.
I just had the same error... formating 3 different SD cards didn't work.
I couldn't do restore.
I couldn't use the rom I had installed a few month ago
It didn't make a difference the zip was downloaded by Internet Explorer or Chrome
Solution:The minute I installed a new version (i guess re-installing would work as well) of CWM it stopped giving that error.
no luck
No luck... Nothing works from here... I still get cant open (rom name) zip (bad) ... Any other advices?
