[Q] boot up force close on samsung account - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm getting a force close on "Samsung account" (com.osp.app.signin) during boot up. It happens two times in a row every time I reboot. Anyone experience this and/or know how to stop it from happening? I can't remove the account without factory reset which I don't really want to do.
Any ideas?

yeah, I have the exact same issue

I think it has to do with their servers. probably the same reason the other guy can't register.

I have recieved this twice. However I was on my work network and I assumed it weas just being blocked. I have not recieved it as of today though.

Me too.
I have the exact same issue and would rather not have to start from scratch. Any thoughts on how to fix this without doing a factory reset?
As a side note, is the Samsung Account sync supposed to be turned on? In Account Settings, the account is there but it is greyed out and I can't turn it on.

Mine did this today. I think it has something to do with it trying to access the net and check for updates before the system is fully loaded and wifi signal recieved. That's my take on what happened to me this morning.

Yeah mine was doing until I opened the Samsung apps app and it needed an update. So I'm pretty sure that was it cause it stopped crashing on me.

fixed it by updating Samsung apps.

Hello, i've got this too, what's your samsung app version ?

3.10.012 Is the updated version. If you open Samsung apps it should auto update.

Mine also had this issue and when I updated Samsung apps as pointed out above, the problem stopped existing.

I did the Samsung Apps update and it updated itself 3 times. Its strange. I still get force close on bootup.

I still see this too. It is SO annoying.

What if we don't have Samsung Apps, and never have?

My Gtab (have only had it for 2 days) is experiencing the same thing,. A few hours after signing into Samsung apps it started to do the FC trick. I have tried to find a way to update SAmsung apps but it appears to be up to date. It is very annoying and makes me wonder about my choice of tabs as TF is getting 3.2 today and from what I have experienced with Samsung this device may never ever see it. I admit the TW update will be very nice (I have a rom derived from the leaked update installed and it is quite nice)but I am more concerned at this point about the HC updates or more to the point Samsuing's track record concerning not getting updates out to their phones. The Gtab is a wonderful device and if SAmsung will just push out the updates as fast as Asus (or even close to as fast)is doing then it will be the Best tablet out IMO.

Looks like I found a fix for those who don't have Samsung Apps installed in their Galaxy Tab. I have a GT 10.1 Limited IO Edition... and though I'm sure it was installed when I first got it, it's not there anymore. Maybe it has to do with the 3.1 update??
Anyways, here's what I did to fix the issue:
1. Go to Settings, then Accounts & sync
2. Select Add account (on top right-hand corner) and choose Samsung account (fyi: I already had a Samsung account... it was made before the 3.1 update)
3. I created a new Samsung account... and filled out the necessary info (don't know if you can just sign into an existing account... maybe somebody can test this out).
That's about it... I think the issue has to do with the Samsung account made before the 3.1 update. It looks like only one Samsung account should be allowed per device, yet I was able to put a second one. Then, when I tried to add a 3rd one, it says, "Samsung Samsung account already exists in account manager".
Have rebooted 4 times without a force close. Hopefully this helps!

Greyed out is normal. Says so on their support site FAQ.

My GTab was doing this too. It also would not update Samsung Apps. It kept force closing. I reported a few times, for what good I do not know. However I fixed the issue of not updating last night and thouht I would share. Go into manage applications and choose Samsung Apps. Select the clear data button. Next select the force close button. Now go to your application home screen and choose Samsung Apps. It should then tell you that you have an update and install just fine. BTW, mine asked to update twice. I just went with it. It worked and Samsung Apps came up. I have not rebooted it yet but will update later if that force close issue has resolved itself with the update.
Update: The Samsung App process force close on startup has now gone away too.

[Q] Removing devices from Google Play

I'm on my third Android phone, and the last two are still "active" (?) in Google Play, on the website. With my first phone, I didn't have to "Choose which device to install on". Now I do, and I want to know how to get rid of the other two devices. I don't have access to them and never will again. I sent the first one to a dev on SDX, across the country. The other one I only had for six days, and traded for my current device. So, there's no reason for them to be up there. (Both were wiped before I got rid of them, so neither of them can even get into my Google account.)
P.S. Is there any way to get Google to forget I ever had an app? I've tried a bunch of apps that didn't work and I really don't like them in my "All" column under My Apps, in the phone app. But that's not as big a deal.
I think this will work
Open the Play Store from your PC
Go to Options (right upper corner, a gear icon) and select the option that appear.
Click on Devices tab, and untick the devices that you don't wish to see
About forget all downloaded apps... sorry, I dunno how do it

I wil confirm, after extensive past research that beyond hiding the device on play, you cannot remove it, or your previously downloaded apps from play.
It's really annoying and renders the my installed apps thing basically useless after a while...
I find it shocking that you cannot de-associate a device from your account. I wonder if there could be dangers of getting my apps to the next user of that device?

No your safe on that matter, as you should be doing a factory reset from within settings options before passing/selling it on.
I believe the reason Google do not allow you to remove devices is statistic based as they are able to make android seem more popular than it actually is by combining both active and inactive devices to increase its market share. (Just my opinion on the matter not an actual fact)..
Well, I did do the factory reset so the data is wiped. Thanks

None. They would need to sign into your Google account. Factory reset the device before passing it on and there will be no danger of that.

I experienced device association issues when I tried to listen to the music I have linked with my Google Music account. To deactivate a device, go to play.google.com/music and select settings. Click settings and then it will allow you to "deactivate" devices.

If that's the case, it would seem I'm a great customer.
Trial&Errors when trying to fix market on my N7A2 left 11 inactive devices in my list, in addition to 2 phones I've sold long time ago, plus the active phone and tablet..
Find it a bit annoying having them there in the list, but atleast they can be unchecked so that they dont appear in the list when you install apps.
Even when you disable a device so it's no longer visible, it's just a matter of time until it comes back again. They don't stay hidden indefinitely
*************EDIT, this is no longer valid and hasn't been for a while. Google does not allow removal of devices from Google Play at least since 2014**********
I have been looking for a solution for this too.
Here's my findings:
1. if you still have your phone with you, delete the cache and data of Google Services Framework app (just as you do when trying to force an update check), and it will be gone. Of course you need to be signed in, otherwise it doesn't do anything. Yet, dont do anything with google play, otherwise the phone will be reappearing. Just reset it and forget it.
2. if you already got rid of the phone, simply wait 9 months (not one day more not one day less) since your last used date. I have verified and confirmed this time frame with 4 devices now. Took an extra week only for a tablet to disappear.

I believe you are right on the phones. However, on tables, I still see 3 tablets I tested after 3 weeks. On the tablet point do you mean 9 months and 1 week or only 1 week?

It is not possible to completely delete devices listed under Settings on the Google Play website.
Hi, I'm still quite new to Android.
I tested the Galaxy Note 2 device today on a demo unit, and logged in with my gmail account to try out the features...
So is that device now stuck to my account forever?

[Help] Wifi and 3G turning on alone...

Hello there! I have been having a bit of a problem lately. I own a BLU Dash 5.0 simunlocked from factory. It's a double sim model, which I have two sims, since the companies are spanish, let's call them Green Sim and Blue Sim (since that's how they are color coded in my status bar). It is also running Android Jelly Bean 4.2. Here is the problem. Ever since of March 20, a Chinese app appeared on my home screen, I don't know how, something called "Mobile Video" but the content was in a foreign Asian language. I suspect of my friend since I lent it to him for 15 minutes and then it appeared. Aside of this, the wifi and the Green Sim 3G was turned on.
I clicked on the app curious of it was something my friend downloaded from me, but then the app prompted me two options, I didn't know what it said since again, it was Asian. Next, I proceeded to uninstall it, going to my apps list, I was surprised to see another mysterious app, "Push_Down", that was the name. I uninstalled both Mobile Video and Push_Down. I thought I fixed the problem. Wrong.
Next day when I woke up, I found two new apps on my homescreen, and again, the Wifi and Green Sim 3G was on.These were Chinese also. I uninstalled them both and found once again "Push_Down" in my apps. After I uninstalled them, I thought the problem was finally fixed. Wrong again. Since this event, about every 2 or 3 hours, my Wifi and Green Sim 3G turn on automatically, but haven't downloaded anything new, one, because I have no credit left, and two, I have no internet at home. Ever since, daily I wake up, the same problem, the Wifi and 3G are on. I checked my SD Card, I checked my Phone Storage, both with 2 Antivirus (Avast!, and Lookout Mobile) and with Addons Detector. Surprisingly, nothing has appeared.
My last option is what hurts me most, to reset my phone, which I don't want to do since I have lots of apps installed, progress made with certain games and etc, etc. Also, I am not a root user, so I haven't rooted and won't root my phone.
Now, can anyone please help me? I am very annoyed at this happening everyday!
same problem...cheinese apps keep reinstalling
I too have had this problem for a few weeks now. Got a Chinese smartphone for Christmas (ok i know thats the first mistake, but it was worth a try for the money). mfaction royale mp720 (mpie comes up on the startup screen). Anyway i realised there where a few Chinese apps that came with it (pinyin and a app with a orange icon with a squirrel logo on it) so i unistalled these without problem. One chinese app i couldn't uninstall so i disabled it in the app settings
Everything had been working fine without problem and had been very happy with the phone until a week or so ago. started getting the apps described above installing. These include 'push_down' 'push_collect' 'filegogo' 'mobile video' and some others with chinese writing on them. I also get my phone setting itself to mute when these apps reappear. Keep uninstalling them but they keep coming back. Have tried AVG and Antimalware but they only flag things up as they install themselves, not the thing thats doing the installing. I thought that google account might be a problem so changed password and reset my phone to factory default. As a test i didn't connect back to google account. No joy. Although some apps have not reappeared some have and this morning a new one so i don't think its google account.
I did read some Chinese phones can have the malware embedded into the firmware but it's been fine for months. Perhaps there is a delay so your not likely to send the phone back then the malware begins. If this is the case then the only way round would be to root the phone then find the app or apps that are doing this. Not sure if it's easy to root one of these phones.
Anyone else had these symptoms after a full factory reset?. Anyone been able to sort it out? Anyone know of a guide to root his phone?
Hmmmmm....

Actually, as much as my experience from rooting, I haven't done it once again after a bad event I had, like almost bricking an old phone I had which for my good luck there was a way to restore it Ever since, I won't root anymore unless there exists a ROM backup by the manufacturer. But still, I don't know what's causing this. My phone has been fine since stock, I have more than 2 months with it! The problem started since last Thursday, which is why I suspect it's an app I downloaded or ad I clicked on. Any ideas?
(Also, thanks for your reply )

Updates, functions, apps, Bluetooth don't work on two Samsung devices

Hello,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 (SM-G930F running TouchWiz on Android 7.0) and a Samsung Galaxy Tab A6 10.1 (SM-T580 running TouchWiz on Android 6.0.1), and I recently realized that I didn't receive any notification from Facebook Messenger on my Galaxy S7. It isn't a issue related to authorizations nor something in the settings. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the app, when I uninstalled I had to reboot the phone, and it never finished reinstalling according to the Play Store while I could in fact open the app.
Besides this, the blue filter also doesn't activate automatically like before (I checked the settings, and it should activate automatically), and Bluetooth, while detecting nearby devices, every time I send a file it just loads infinitely. On top of that, daily notifications that should pop up during the day suddenly all showed up at the same time at 2 AM.
Then I saw that I couldn't update any app on the Play Store, so I tried to follow Google feedback and uninstall Play Store updates. Now the Play Store won't update at all and the apps won't update either.
I realized it was the same thing on my Galaxy Tab, Messenger and Bluetooth not working, apps not updating. I want to point out that the tablet and the phone doesn't run on the same system. The system update notification showed up but it is impossible to confirm the update, touching the option in the settings doesn't do anything.
I ran antivirus software and Malwarebytes on both devices and both didn't detect any threats.
If it was only one device I could imagine it would be something that may have went undetected during the antivirus analysis, a problem that doesn't have an easy answer and I would maybe have restored it, but to have it on two devices makes me wonder if it will really fix it. The tablet interacts with the phone only via Bluetooth and my Google account, and is mostly used to take notes, it's not likely that what happened to the phone could have been transmitted from the phone to the tablet.
It worked fined until less than a week ago. I didn't download anything suspicious, the only thing I recall is having tried to update the Messenger app.
What could be the problem ?
Thank you.

Unwanted Vchat App icon appeared on home screen, but not in application manager

I just noticed that an application was added to my home screen called Vchat. I didn't install this app. I checked the application manager and my account in the play store and this app doesn't appear in either. I'm not really sure what this is and what the best way to remove it is. I haven't clicked on it. I also notice random ads popping up after the unlocking the screen, though they are very sporadic.
I'm on a LG G5, the verizon version, running android 7.0.
Girlfriend also has this on her Samsung Galaxy A5, couldn't identify an app in app list which matched. Removed from home screen and hoped it was simply a sketchy weblink. Will follow post to ensure phone is secure or if an app needs removing. Seems to have appeared in last 24 hours.
I tried running avast and malwarebytes on my phone. Neither of those detected anything.
Came up 3/30
I Googled this yesterday, glad I did again today to find this forum. I bought this phone March 22nd and I am noticing my lock screen button stopped working around the same time the app appeared. This phone is brand new from amazon and I am about to return it, but something tells me this issue is software related as the button was working fine on 3/29 and now it clicks and is responsive to the touch, but it will only "sometimes" lock the screen. Right now it is fully functioning, but it will start to fail if I have too many apps open, or if I am running a game. It specifically won't work while in an app, but will work when on the home screen with no apps open.
On top of all of this, my phone has been getting weird ads, but male ware detection doesn't see it, also, the phone is a lot slower now. Whatever this is, I don't want to be connected to it.
Update: the v stands for Vietnamese. The app is some Vietnamese chatting service. Googled "vchat' you guess should try it too.

I got frustrated trying to figure out how to remove this app, so I decided to restore the phone to factory defaults. I've only had the phone for a month, so I didn't have much on it.
Galaxy S5
I have a Galaxy S5 Android version 6.0.1 and this URL shortcut also appeared on my homesceen. Likewise I would like to know what app / service was used to create this advertisement so I can disable / uninstall it.

Having issues with Bottom Quick Settings recently, any alternative suggestions?

As the title suggests, over the past few days Bottom Quick Settings has started crashing when I restart my phone.
If I set the phone up and install BQS and then -NEVER- restart, it works, but if I restart it, after rebooting the Accessibility Service associated with BQS crashes and the app will not load.
I've been using the app for years now, and this is a very very recent issue.
I've factory reset my phone several times and tried alternating ways of setting it up, however as soon as I log into my google account, upon the next restart, BQS crashes.
I've even set Play Store to not auto-update anything before associating my account, but the issue still appears.
Any suggestions folks?
Same issue for me. I installed an earlier version, malfunctioning still occurs.
Anyone can recommend alternative apps?

There are no alternatives, I've been searching since making the post.
It appears that an update to Android has made the app unstable, I've tried everything to fix it, nothing works. I've emailed the developer and raised a bug ticket on their site, but no response yet.
