Hi all, im a long time lurker and decided to make a thread on my new findings from radio shack. I went today to reserve my evo 3d at radio shack and i asked if the price was still 600 because i had the flyer saying it was 500. So as i speak with the radio shack rep he asked the question that i didn't want to be asked. He asked me if i qualified for an upgrade and i said because of the new premier rules i didn't qualify, He then said are you sure(as the time i spent all day today with sprint didn't confirm this already), so i said of course not then he said we are having a promotion that if you purchased an evo 4g before june 30th you were eligible for a full upgrade. At that point my eyes lit up and i said don't ef with me. He then gave sprint a call and told them about this promotion just to make sure i qualify and then the confirmation was there. bottom line is i now pre ordered the evo 3d and i am paying only 200 with a 2 year upgrade. I still cant believe this. Thank you radio shack i was prepared to drop 600 for this phone. Hope this will help others as well.

That's similar to what I just heard...
Do you know if this is before/after your trade in of your 4g?
The manager at RS I talked to said that the phone would be $300 with a new contract using this deal - and $100 trade in credit for the 4g.
Double check that if you can.
She didn't sound very clear on it to me...

P. S. If you ask just to trade in your EVO 4G the credit would be $158 and not $100. It's only $100 if you ask to trade it in toward a purchase of a EVO 3D. If he was a friend he would have said that.

Yup thats it. Its good that radio shack isn't jerking people because sprint doesn't even tell you. I spent 20 minutes on the phone with a sprint rep and said i only qualify for 75$. Kudos to the manager at the bayonne nj radio shack.

Are you able to add a line to your account and put the EVO3D on that new line, then do a swap of numbers b/w your original EVO4G and new EVO3D so you then have the new phone # on your EVO4G and the original phone number on your EVO3D? Then once done you can cancel the line you just added?
Back with nextel this was common practice by those that upgraded often and was easily done b/c all you had to do was swap the SIM cards back then.
Yep everything but the cancel part

IDK if OP is from androidforums or not, but we had a discussion about this:
HTC EVO 3D Discounts
And pretty much all of us decided against inputting our SSN into a studentrate.com site. IDK how this site can offer this deal when no one else can.
Here is what I am planning on doing to get the EVO 3D. First off, I will pay the ETF (which should be about $100, then I will sign a new contract with Sprint and get the EVO 3D at the discount price. Then I will sell my HTC EVO 4G and offset the price. I spoke with Sprint and the rep said that this is just about the only way to get the phone at the discount price without upgrading my contract.
This site seems a bit sketch...
I got this same deal in the past when I got my HTC Evo. The form didn't ask for any social or credit card info. When I filled it out someone called me so I could place the order with them over the phone

If you do that, Sprint might not take you back immediately. I've heard that if you cancel with them they might make you wait a few months before you're approved for a new account. The other thing is that you could end up hurting your credit. I'm not exactly sure. If you were a sprint Premier member, you might be able to get grandfathered in for your 1 premier upgrade this year, because that's what they did for me.

How??? I called in twice and was told no both times...
If you pre-order one of these phones you're guaranteed the discounts mentioned? Anyone know when the nexus s is suppose to be released?
I have the kinda the same question. Do you only get the discounts if you pre-order? What if I want to just wait till the Evo 3D comes out?
I think the Nexus S is suppose to come out early spring, so maybe this month?
I think you might still be able to get that discount even if you wait until the device comes out... However, considering the shortage of EVOs online due to some of the components being manufactured in Japan, there is a risk that the EVO 3 D will run out and be back-ordered at least that's what I think
Do you think the Evo 3D release date will be pushed back because of this?

for what it's worth. Student Rate is legit. Basically, there's a guy that works there who holds all your info till launch day, and then bulk processes all the pre-orders witha dedicated sprint rep over night.
When I switched to sprint from ATT, my wife and I preordered our Epic4G's that way. I didnt put my CC info or SSN on the student rate form, but I was in constant contact with the guys there over email, and the night before launch day, I gave them the info over the phone.
I need to start hearing some possible options since it looks like next month will be the release date.
I joined Sprint last year when the Evo released.
What would you guys do if you wanted the EVO 3D?
Thanks
Did you check your upgrade eligibility on https://manage.sprintpcs.com/specialoffers/RebateWelcome.do
Like you, I joined sprint last year on the launch day of the EVO4G at the $69.99 plan. This site says I am eligible for a full upgrade for the phone on my account. Interestingly enough it says at the bottom this program ends June 4th.

i have the same thing. I got the evo 4g at launch. up until april 1st the system said that I had a $150 credit avalible june 1st 2011. now it says I have a $75 credit june 1st and a full credit 4-1-12! All I did was call sprint telesales (they are the only ones that can do this) I very polity asked if I could have my upgrade back because I would like to get the evo 3D. they put me on hold, when they came back they said that I could get my upgrade back and that I needed to call on june first because that is when my account resets. She also said that she was making notes in my account to make this easy when I called back. i asked her to send me an email confirming this conversation. I got a email that had her specialist id# team name and date (dont think i need it but
I have had problem with sprint in the past)
So basically if you have a $75 credit right now you can call sprint telesales (888-253-1315) and ask for your $150 credit back. Mentioning the evo 3d may or may not help, but the rep did talk about the evo 3d for a second with me when I noted I wanted to get one.
Just got my upgrade back to $150..telesales didn't help me they routed my call to account services...all I did was act dumb about not knowing about the premier changes. I told him I had a full upgrade in March and all of a sudden my full upgrade was gone...so he went through all the details about the changes...and then reset my account thus giving me back my full upgrade oh yeah and made sure I got a email of the conversation

If I wanted it? I do. It will release next month. I will be absolutely flabbergasted if it doesn't come out on June 3rd (also my birthday). That would be a deviation from their tradition of releasing phones on fridays, big-deal phones on the first friday of june and also neglect to honor the Evo4G's anniversary(ish)...
The Evo really was a big deal for Sprint, just as the Evo3D is....does anyone remember Sprint's phone selection prior to the Evo4G? Quirky at best for dumbphones, random (crap) at best for smartphones....the hero or the moment or a BB....ick....and the hero--while a great phone--was a fluke.
So what am I doing? I will be trading in my Evo4G for $180 at Radioshack, I called Sprint and got my upgrade turned back into full (from $75) and I reserved a phone at Radioshack...so I will most likely be walking into Radioshack at 5am on June 3rd and likely walking out at 5:30am on with $25 in my left hand and the best smartphone to date in my right hand--as I was told (when I posed this exact question) by the RS sales rep who agreed, whose manager agreed and whose district manager agreed that they would all be shocked if it didn't come out on June 3rd....none of us know better, it just fits a pattern...and for the Evo a new tradition.
That's what I'd do.
if ur like me, i need an upgrade every yr
all u have to do is stick with a plan tht is $89.99 and up to become a gold member and receive a yrly upgrade. Next yr the Evo 3D will be a dinosaur and so I rather be a gold member than have to upgrade evey 2 yrs. I lost my upgrade in feb with the new changes but got it back cuz they made a mistake and put me as a silver member. I've been on the everything plan for months and tht qualifies me to be a gold member. i since changed my plan to the everything data 900 $89.99...if i go any less than tht then i'll be a silver member again! no waaaay!
before the evo phone came out, The touch pro 2 was a great phone but wasnt an android phone but the screen was big.

If you plan on upgrading every year then it should pay to go with the higher plan as it should run less then purchasing a new phone at full retail once a year.
Luckily I have been with Sprint over 10 years so I qualify for gold otherwise I would never be able to convince my wife to spend more money on our cell phone bill.
Being able to deal with Sprint for over 10 years, I totally feel like I deserve the yearly upgrade! I have been on the phone for countless number of hours over the years with some of the worst customer service on the planet and had some of the most stressful phone calls with them.
As a long time customer, I must say they customer service has improved more then words can describe from where it was back in the day......
I'm new to Sprint.. Got the original EVO on launch and was wondering, what if I canceled my account, pay the ETF, and open another account?
You guys are having a lot of luck resetting your credit to $150. I spoke to supervisors and a whole slew of reps without any luck.

Etf is only $120, I'll open a new acct, switch numbers, then cancel the old one and sell my evo 4g. In the end, it might turn out to be a free phone.

A simpler thing to do would just add a new line then cancel the old one. Why go through to trouble of opening a whole new account.
Wouldn't it be much easier/cheaper to sell our Evos on Ebay for around $250 then buy the Evo 3D from Sprint for $425 (Assuming the Evo 3D is $500 minus the $75 rebate)? This all varies depending on the price of the Evo 3D and how much you can sell your Evo in Ebay.

Just checked that page and same thing.
It says June 1st $75 and 4/1/12 $150.
I am a little confused though. I am one year into my 2 year commitment. If i were to use this "upgrade" from Sprint, Would I be adding 2 years making it a 3 year commitment.
Not sure I want to to commit that long. Any idea what the outright price of the phone will be? Noticed you could also trade in my Evo for $150 account credit.

The upgrade pricing is for signing a new 2yr contract which takes the place of your current contract so you would be on a new 2yr contract, not 3yr.
They have a bunch of different options when signing a new contract like if are premier silver and only a year into your contract you can sign a new 1yr and get $25 off a new phone, or a new 2 yr and get $75 off a new phone (which you will be eligible for on 6/1). After your contract expires (4/1/2012) and you are eligible for a full upgrade you can get $75 off with a new 1yr and $150 off with a new 2yr contract.
The problem is that new phones have discounts and rebates which you're only eligible for with a full upgrade. As with the EVO the phone was $550 I believe w/ $100 mail-in-rebate, $150 upgrade, and it's $200 purchase price that comes to $450. The other $100 was an instant rebate that sprint gives you and I'm almost positive that you only get that rebate with the full upgrade price. I'm even pretty sure you're not eligible for the mail-in-rebate so the difference between the 1yr and 2yr upgrades is really about $275 rather than just the difference between $75 and $150. Someone correct me if I am wrong but I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

Now what can I do I have had the Evo since October and my upgrade was supposed to be this year but got it anyways the whole first month I exchanged it, all different problems. 3 times and now I have a white Evo with the same dust problems and light leak and a few dings on the top right any suggestions?
Sprint is starting to piss me off, they're trying to screw me out of my yearly upgrade and talking to customer service is a complete waste of time. Now I'm trying to post a question to sprints message board and this is the second night in a row it has gone down for maintenance at the very moment I try to post my question.... and now it's back up five minutes later.
Google 'customer service hall of shame' and you'll see Sprint's been number one for three or four years now.

CheesyNutz, I asked the same question of 2 local Radio Shack Managers and both said only 1 phone. 1 of the Managers said that question had been asked numerous times and he wished that he could accomodate but the Regional Manager told him "No way".

I don't know if this still works, but last year when I bought my Evo 4g, the guys from the Sprint store took both my Nexus One and Mytouch 3g for credit towards my Evo when I first switched over from T-mob to Sprint. My personal experience with Radioshack has always been pretty crappy anyways, plus you get $150 for your Evo 4g @ the Sprint store vs. the $100 from Radioshack.

Poor Cheesy
You can always pre-order at target as well. They are giving $150 to trade in for your EVO4G.
Yea me too with last year, they took my G1 and bricked moto clique and put the money towards my EVO.
My radio shack said the same thing. Normally they can stack but with the 3d its a strict 1 for 1. I have an appt with radio shack for Friday at 9. I preordered before the $100 trade in was announced and at the time I was told $150 - $175 for the trade in. So, I'm hitting the Sprint store at 8 when they open. If they have stock and will do $150 for the trade in I'll get it there and use my RS gift card for accessories. If they trade in value goes down by Friday I'll keep my appointment.
For those of you with a Moment, you may want to check on that $75 offer, when I pre-orderd, there was a list of the specific phones that the $75 is valid for and the Moment was not listed.
According to the RS website they give $158.13 for an Evo4g in Excellent condition.....and 3 weeks ago they gave $175 for it!!
http://radioshack.cexchange.com/onl...tBDmYmQgv+G1hsJdKb5c/KOlpLGqZRlMaOCAOqKlzyQ==
Also.....you can stack trade-ins if you sell them to RS and get a gift card....then use the gift card towards the E3D phone purchase!
Not sure how I can get one... I've been with Sprint less than a year, I believe my wife and I got our EVOs in September... I'm Silver Premier automatically through my employer. Is there any way for me to get a discounted EVO 3D or am I looking at $599?
Thanks in advance for any help or advice.
You can trade your EVO in to Sprint or Target and get $150 off ($449)
Or i have 1 on Marketplace on here for $450 which ill have in hand tomorrow ordered 4 keeping 3 selling 1.
sell ur evos on CL, use that to knock off some of the retail price, may save about 50%+

+1 to this method. I called 877-775-4886 (Account Services I think) and I just asked them to reset my eligibility. There was no hold time, the CSR was very friendly, and the end result is 30 minutes later I was eligible for the 2 year upgrade promo. I was already over the 1 year upgrade eligibility, but I have seen others post that they will reset your upgrade even before the first year, so it's worth a shot. Just call them and politely ask them to reset your upgrade eligibility so you can get the Evo 3D for $199. Also mention that you want to sign a new 2 year contract extension (you are going to have to do it anyways if you buy with an upgrade promo).

We have 2 EVOs since August and wanted to upgrade to 1 EVO 3D...
She spoke to supervisor as well, and at the end even offered to let me speak to the supervisor but I just gave up...
BTW: I am Premier Silver due to the association of Sprint with my work...
I just got my upgrade reset..........I was 9 days away from a year upgrade 75.00.
Sprint gave me the full upgrade. 199.00 evo3d here i come
Congrats... I'm sure if I was 9 days, I would have had a chance, but 2 months was a no-go at least according to the rep I talked to and her supervisor...
This is probably a stupid question and my current thoughts will likely be confirmed but..I'm an OG Evo owner who got it on launch day, Therefore my contract will not expire until about a year from now, I still have a $75 one-year upgrade and if it weren't for the fact that it was listing under full price on the site for me right now after i enter my number I'd have ordered my E3D already and be waiting for it.
I was hoping that I could simply trade in my OG Evo to sprint for the $150 and perhaps use my $75 upgrade on top of that and sign another contract to pay zero out of pocket, I understand that it may not work that way and I may be paying $50 out of pocket if they don't count both the trade-in and the upgrade.
Looking at this, It appears that it doesn't work that way.
Seems rather cheap of me, I know but in this economy..eugh.
I got mine for $150 thanks to some sweet connections.
They should reset your upgrade so u can get it for 199 - 150 EVO trade .... I was a original EVO owner and they did it no problem

Really? Anything in particular you say and was it in a sprint store?
I had an OG Evo from day one too and went to Radio shack thinking I was only eligible for the partial updgrade but only paid $52 plus taxes after my OG Evo trade in of $148.00, from what she said now until July 3rd Premier customers will get the full upgrade.
Sprint store and actually was just there a couple days ago and they was doing it for some woman too. It's I guess I one time courtesy thing.y

Talked to an online representative. Got told that i would have to pay $475 even with a 2yr agreement, That nothing can be done as I am not eligible for the $150 upgrade yet.

Email this guy [email protected] and tell him you want an early upgrade. I send him an email and he called me the next day. I got the evo 4g last year and was not able to get the upgrade. I talked to this guy and he was able to put in an early upgrade request in and i was able to get my evo 3d for 199.
Step 1: Read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1093232
Step 2: Have a beer
Step 3: Call the number in that thread
Step 4: Enjoy your upgrade eligibility reset.
I'm at 11 months into my contract.
Got my upgrade reset last night.
Phone is now listed in my Sprint portal @ $199.
Also got 300 extra minutes a month added to my account as well as a $70 credit.
Keep in mind, you will have to extend your contract 2 years following the method posted above.
Everyone is eligible for the 300 bonus minutes every month is you are on the Everything Data Individual Plan.
Today is the last day to do this. The rules was once you're one year into your contract you may be able to work something out. Today they are closing that loop hole. They may extend it for those who have lost their eligibility.
Shoot me a thread if you have questions in specific cases. I can answer them.
Well...I wouldn't be eligible for 300 extra minutes, Everything data family plan.
