HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA xD
Remove the filename extension. Works for me
audio manager is a good app to hide any secret information....
hit the thanks button if i have helped you...
use video vault bro for videos, and photovault for images. Ask me if you want the apk.
Any folder name that begins with a ' . ' (period) wont be scanned by the gallery.

Well if you really wanna hide stuff even from sdcard, use audio manager by Anuj Tenani ( The name of app is purposely named) .
It works as a audio profiler but once you long press the title of app you go into this secret world.
It encrypts data (with some simple and fast method) so even if someone gets hold of sdcard no worry. You can also uninstall the app(data remains hidden), when you reinstall you shall find everything as it is.
You have to long press the media or folder you want hide > Share > audio manager.
Good things in life are always free.
But if you just want to hide it from gallery use gallery excluder it makes the ".nomedia" files for you. (Restart gallery one or two times)

You can also zip them or add .zip extension to the master folder. Root explorer and astro play the zip directly without Unzipping.

Apending folder with .zip I think wont work, gallery will still show the content because its a folder with .zip in the name not extension.

Just tried after adding .zip to my video songs folder. Videos show in gallery but don't play. They don't play in any video player either.
Deleting the created thumbnails will also solve the problem of showing in gallery.

Does anyone know how to create custom sub-folders in the stock gallery?
For instance i need to make a Chicago folder to appear in the stock gallery.
QuickPic works but it doesnt show 3d pics
EDIT- fixed!
You would have to create these sub folders on a pc or with a file.manager as far as I know

Wait for a while then check again or try rebooting your phone. Btw, what rom are you using?
Moving your songs to a folder named 'music' might work too
Delete the double post too

I tried gtr, oxygen, nightly and all except ics rom but problem is there with me present I'm using perfect peso 2.3.
Songs are in music folder only
Ok!, try to browse using root explorer, and show hidden files, and find ".nomedia" file to the folder where the music files are located and delete it. Now go to dev tools and selext media scanner.. that should do the trick..

How can i hide some pictures (like album covers) in ICS gallery?
Thanks
In folder where is that pictures make new file with name (.nomedia).
Without ().
Just mew file, not txt, pdf or anything...just file with that name,
Also you can find that nomedia in gameloft games directory so you can copy paste it.

You can also use third application like "Keep Safe"... it is free and simple to use...

That simple? Just make the file in es and move the pics you don't want shown into it? I assume the only way to see them from then on will be through a file explorer?

I use VAULTY you can get it in the play store. Simply open application, scroll through your pictures, select the ones you want to hide and your done.
It even comes with a password protection
I get a ton of email that I need to mark as read, but I can't find a quick way to mass select.... Am I missing something?
Select one email, menu, select all

Here is another trivial one. The sense gallery shows my download folder, which has pictures/garbage from all my exchange email I get in the sense email app. Is there a way to keep gallery from picking up this crap, or change where the sense mail app stores/cache's its images? The .no media file trick doesnt seem to work.

Make a file called .nomedia in the folder. No spaces and nothing else in the file name. Just tried it and it works.

Can you reboot and see if stuff shows up? I still get an "all downloads" section in my gallery which contains a ton of images from html email from the sense mail app. I have the. . nomedia file created as well.

Make sure you have a .nomedia file in the folder with the pics. I made a .nomedia file as shown in the attachment, and that picture immediatly got removed from the all downloads section of my gallary. Rebooted and still not there. Deleted the file and it showed back up.

I downloaded another gallery apps and the no media works, however the attachments were still showing from the email app. Maybe the all downloads folder in the gallery is an aggregate of more than just the download folder on the sdcard? Quickpic suits my purposes though.

correct. And if you put .nomedia there and they are in there, it still shows up, which was driving me nuts.

They don't for me. They are hidden when I put a ".nomedia" in there. Make sure you spelled it right and what you used to create it didn't add some kind of extension to it.

I read a lot of manga and in any other gallery app I can't see the downloaded chapters but in the album app I can it's like the app ignores the .nomedia file? Any way to fix this issue

rename the file(s) and remove .nomedia at the end of the extension, like photo.jpg.nomedia > photo.jpg
Or if theres an empty file with the extension .nomedia along with other files in the same direction, this file tells the indexing to hide this directory from the gallery. Remove this file then or rename it and remove the .nomedia
You can do this with any filemanager.
I use ES File Explorer and Root Explorer for example. If the files still not showing up, try do a media scan with Media Scanner in many cases this does the trick.
No its not an extension it's just a separate .nomedia file but with a 3rd party galary app it's hidden how it's supposed to be >.....<

From what I can find, this is a bug.. It's not related to this phone, It's Android in general
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=24162
A workaround would be to rename the folder containing the .noname file and the other files. Then renaming it back to what the folders name was before. It's confirmed to work for allot of people.
Thanks found a temp fix " the problem seems to be the MediaScanner, which does not start to re-index media. If you clear data via App info for Media Storage (Settings -> Apps -> All -> Media Storage), .nomedia finally has an effect. (All credit for this workaround goes to aelfwyne from http://code.google.com/p/ankidroid/issues/detail?id=910)."
