it's a boot animation that i made and i want someone to make it flashable
If you download a boot animation that is flashable, steal the zip file and change the bootanimation.zip to yours in the /system/media folder of the flashable zip file. Then rezip the flashable if you unzipped it and name it what you want.

^ that is what I suggested too... but erased my message because I downloaded a flashable zip and it was not what I was expecting.. didnt have the meta folder and system/media folder.
I may try another flashable bootup later.

Back from vacation and at a computer...
Will not flash on a Gingerbread Rom.. Holy monster bootanimation.zip file size. Compress the images at all? I will upon request, but here is how you had it, but flashable,
Basketball slam dunk bootanimation FLASHABLE
Please steal this folder structure and use it in the future by just replacing the bootanimation.zip with another in the /system/media directory. Or follow the previous post link on how to make your own.

do you have the original bootanimation.zip file for this. It might be anything from the original image size to how the bootanimation.zip file is zipped. Don't know unless I can take a look.

resize
as far as I know, you can not resize gifs or they stop working and become an image
you will have to make it in the right size to start with

They are not GIF, they are PNG. I resized them as png as well.
After you changed the image sizes to 320 by 480, the zip file needs to be zipped with no compression.

I'm sorry for bumping and asking you this but I edited a boot animation I got in XDA and re-zipped it as "Store". When I pushed it via adb (adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local) and tested it out, a black screen showed.
Attached here is the boot animation. Thanks in advance!
Try this! It worked for me.
*note, on some roms the boot animation is located in /system/media.

Looks like it was a problem when you made your .zip file. After you zip your folder, open the .zip with windows explorer, you should see the Part0, Part1 and desc.txt files. If you have to go through a folder first, it won't work. I rezipped it for you and attached it below.

I have tried to add numerous different boot animation on my phone. From my understanding you place them in the system/media folder and replace the existing bootanimation.zip with the custom animation and reboot. However I have tried with 4 different animations and only got a black screen. I tried to unizip them and rezip them using 7.z and making sure I zip it with "store" to no avail. Any help is greatly appreciated here. Also does it matter it Im using Supermanager to move and rename the zips, or does it strictly have to be thru adb. (Though I have tried both)
Im running gingerblur 1.3 with honey glow theme and boot animation.
Dont unzip it. Put the bootanimation.zip in the system/media. I use Root Explorer.

Oh. You asked how to install you should ask how to create, or how to zip.
I said in my original post that I have tried just placing it in the folder, and that I have tried to rezip them. My question was why it wasnt working, or what I was doing wrong.
is it possible to pull a boot animation from another Rom? if so how do i do it?
Yes you can do it. I won't get too in depth cause there are several threads explaining how, but copy whatever bootanimation you want to SD card first. Then depending on what ROM you have the bootanimation could either be in /data/local, /system/media, or in stock ROM i believe /system/customize/resource. Rename the stock bootanimation to bootanimation.zip.bak in case you want to revert then copy your new bootanimation to same folder and make sure the filename is bootanimation.zip and the permissions match what the previous one was which is (rw-r--r--). Reboot and your done. Same thing can be done with the downanimation also.
Thanks found an animation from another ROM I liked and wanted to put it on ROM I like using

Thank you! worked perfectly. other than verizons bootanimation is named VZW_bootanimation.zip. worked great!
Would anyone be willing to explain it to me?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321360 theres half of your answer, as for the flashable part (if your boot goes to system/customize/resource just take one of mine and use 7zip and open in archive and swap out the Sprint_bootanimation.zip if you want one with audio just make get a mp3 clip you want and rename to android_audio.mp3 and place in the folder with the botanimation)

Boot animations must be placed in /system/media and the file must be named bootanimation.zip
Just copy/paste the bootanimation.zip to /system/media using ES File Explorer (make sure Root Explorer is enabled).

What boot animation are you getting on startup? Make sure you delete the existing one(if there is one).

I rename the original to OGbootanimation.zip then I copy the new on into the folder. That way I can delete the experimental file and name the original back if the experimental file won't work. It saves a few steps.
Make sure you're moving the zip file and don't extract it or use CWM on it.
Hm, is it boot animation.zip or sanim.zip?
Have you tried searching the Seraphim thread?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I927 using xda premium
Like others have said, you just need to rename the zip to bootanimation.zip and place it in your system/media folder using ES File Explorer (what I use) or Root Explorer. Then reboot and wallah.
It's never not worked for me. I'm currently running Unofficial CM9, and I replaced the Cyanogen boot with the Galaxy Nexus ICS boot animation, to keep Android tasting Vanilla...
Make sure the permissions are rw-r--r--
it whont worck by anyway man i deleted the samsung boot animation from the seraphim rom and tryed all the methods you guys sayd and still nothing now im only geting the original samsung boot sound

make sure u have the correct kernal that allows bootanimation, another is to unzip it and rezip as store, there should not be any compression with a bootanimation.zip., if u want to upload it, i will test it.
i have an 3.0.8-perf-i717uclc5-cl281649 kernel and how can i upload the bootanimation.zip so you can test it??
