[Q] Bamf RC2 GB 3.0 - Loss of data - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
Just looking for some guidance here. I'm coming from GTP 1.5.1b which was using the MR2 radio: 1.39.00.0508w. Yesterday I flashed BAMF GB 3.0 RC2 with the same radio currently installed. I have WIFI and voice connectivity but when I turn on Mobile data I get no connection for 3G/1X. I did mess with the Toolkit and switch to LTE/CDMA and back to CDMA only which did nothing for my 3G but it did give me a short bit of 4G while I was in a certain area but I quickly lost it and it went back to nothing after I drove through.

If you went to CDMA only and you got 4G you have a problem.
I would flash a stock rooted OTA (with the radio) and see if the problem persists, if so, have it replaced.

Sorry I think we misunterstood each other. I meant I was in CDMA only by default, switched to CDMA/LTE and got 4G for a brief moment as I was driving through a 4G area and then went back to no data after I left it.. My next step was to revert back to stock again

I have had the SAME problem for 2 days now. First with Gingeritis then BAMF RC2
Reverting to stock did not help for me, I actually tried every radio. I could get 3G/4G in a VZW store with repeaters everywhere, step outside and walk 20 feet and I'd lose everything. Bottom line, VZW is sending me a new phone.

I reverted to old radio 1.13.605.7 and old backup and got 3g back. Gonna try reflashing RC2 fresh and mr2 radio. Just confirming that mr2 is version 1.39.00.0508w and I'm not flashing something wrong.

FIXED. After reverting back I updated radio, booted to recovery and flashed rom and viola.

Glad it worked out
I had a problem where I couldn't get connection until I flashed it with the latest leaked radio. Even after that, it took 15-20 minutes to actually get coverage

the radios are jacked, it's not the phones.

1x only, help

Well I'm only getting 1x signal. This only started after I installed the new radio.
When I first installed it, Everything seemed normal but then I had LTE connectivity issues so I did a battery pull. Now all I get is 1x. I've tried clearing all data/cache and re-flashing my ROM (that previously worked), tried different kernels, tried downloading the LTE onoff app. Nothing is working.
What is my next step?
Under software info=
baseband = 1.16.00.0402w_1
software number = 1.13.605.7
PRL = 15008
Since you've already got the new radio, my advice would be to do a wipe and clean cache from CWR, then flash Bamf 1.5 or another rom and see if that fixes it.

Tried wiping everything and restoring old roms and backups. Nada.
So I unrooted and reverted back to stock, and bad news---- Still stuck on 1x. Could my SIM card be fried?
Did u try and download the LTE app from market and make sure ur on cmda +LTE

That app did nothing when I was rooted with the other radio but now that I'm back to stock it changes it to 4G but I'm getting no data. It just gets a solid up arrow when I try the internet and nothing loads.
3G does work though...

I would pull battery and similar for one minute then boot back up and see what happens. I've also gotten the 1x issue before but all I did to fix it was disco/reco to mobile networks from settings.

Secondly, did you try flashing the 25 MB radio that was updated last night? Either way, I'd check the md5 sum of the radio and flash it again.

I had the same issue (was rooted with The Perfect Storm) and tried reflashing, using previous backups, AND sacrificing chickens. Got it to work after returning to stock. Spoke with HTC and VZW support who said this was the hip new problem for the past 2 days. They think it may be due to some 4G shizzle that's happening Thursday. That was their guess as of 11pm last night.

Okay tried the 25BM radio again, no luck. The origional 25MB is what casued my issues I believe.
I'm now unrooting back to stock and rerooting. Then I'll just restore one of my backups and wait until this radio update thing gets figured out.
This is happening to me now too. I flashed the gingerbread radio (bottom radio listed in the radio thread) and flashed the new bamf 2.0 beta rom and went to 1x. I then flashed bamf 1.6.3 and the radio listed that went along with that, 1x still....I then did a restore with rom manager to my original stock where I always had 3g and still stuck on 1x.
I always get 3g at home and 4g near work. I'm only getting 1x no matter what I flash now. Any thoughts?

I'm having the same exact problem. I flashed BAMF GB and couldn't get Wi-Fi to work..so I reverted back to 1.6.3 and got Wi-Fi to work. Headed back to BAMF GB, and I can get Wi-Fi but no 3g or better. Stuck at 1x.

At least I'm not alone. Well, my TB has been randomly rebooting 4-6 times a day since the recent OTA push (I was completely stock un-rooted at that time) so I'm going to say F it and have VZW send me a replacement unit.
There was a network outage last night... I think they may have been trying to get ehrpd back online.... anyway, fixed now.

Wow, how about the timing. I wake up this morning and 3g is back.

[Q] SIM or Leaked Radios[MR2/MR2.5]

Here is my issue.
Phones
Mine: Perfect Storm 1.5 - Stock Kernel - Have used both MR2 and MR2.5 Radios
Wife's: Stock Unrooted - MR1 Radio.
Area: Philadelphia
I am trying to figure out if my SIM is having issues or if it is the behavior of the leaked radios. When i first flashed both version I could reliably get 4G data connections. After about a day or so on both they fall back to 3G and I will occasionally get 4G but not often.
Currently with the MR2.5 I took others advice on here yesterday. In the morning I removed the SIM, Powerd on the Tbolt, and then rebooted with the SIM back in. I had a 4G connection all day. I woke up this morning and I am back at 3G. I put my phone right next to my wife's and she has 4G.
Thoughts?
You might want to check your radio settings something might be getting switch to cdma (auto) instead of the cdma/Lte combo.
Some of the roms have it default to no lte in the radio sections, so you're phone might be rebooting I your pocket and some how the radio gets switched.
Just a thought.

Thanks for the suggestion but the settings are CDMA/LTE and I am in 3G
Having the same problem here in the Washington DC area. Updated my rom to the GingerRemix #6 and was fine at first. Last two days I have no data connection. Have flashed two different radio's, reboots and pulled the sim card.
This is with the mr2.5 upgrade..
Trying not to flash back to 1.7 but may have to if I cannot find answers...
This sounds more software related than a SIM card issue to me. I would think that if the SIM was bad, you would either get no service or no 4G.
You can try to flash this ROM http://rootzwiki.com/showthread.php?175-ROM-Plain-Jane-1.66.605.6-(aka-MR2-OTA2-v3)-6-9-2011&p=1758 which is the stock ROM just rooted. the MR2 and 2.5 radios work with this build, MR1 does not.

4G outage in LA?

Hi guys, I recently flashed BAMF1.8 and MR2. It was working pretty well yesterday, but today I have no 4G at all and 3G seems to drop in and out at random. Sometimes, I don't even have 1x. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it a network issue or did I royally screw something up? Thanks!
im having the same problem i was using bamf sense 3.0 RC4 for a few days nd my mobile just stopped working. two days of flashing roms and radios i still got nothing verizon gave me a new sim nd still nothing i havent tried going back to stock, is that what i should do nd try to get a new phone? after trying to activate my phone online i have 1x now but i did have a few minutes of 3g/4g then nothing again HELP PLEASE!!!
I saw this same exact issue on Das BAMF Gingerstripped and it was really freaking annoying. The fastest solution was a reboot, but it was possible to wait it out until data comes back.
Another thing I started to play with before I flashed to CM7 was using Plane mode as a way to re-engage Mobile Networks (3G + 4G) to get data back. It worked sometimes, but other times nothing. So far running about 24 hours on CM7 and have not had this issue yet, where as on Gingerstripped BAMF I was seeing this problem daily.
I also just flashed the newest radio (1.70) and will see how that works. I'm hoping I just don't see this issue again at all, don't care if its due to CM7 or the radio. I just don't want to deal with it anymore.
Going to airplane mode and back didn't do anything. I guess its a problem with my phone then.
After disabling LTE completely, my phone works perfectly on 3G. Does anyone else in LA have 4G issues? I've flashed a bunch of roms and radios to no avail. I just want to know if I should keep tinkering or sleep on it. Thanks!

try going to a verizon store and see if their 4G devices work properly. at least that'll let you know if the network has issues.
ZIP = 90024
I've had no problems with 4g in northwest LA today. I'm Vanilla Bean's latest release on a froyo radio (can't remember which one, but it isn't the one that was leaked today)
I'm in ZIP 90007 and what's been happening is my phone seems to be connecting to 4G, but it doesn't work and just sits there. =\
It was stolen by Mexicans.

i got 4g in 91745....all day long..today at least
oh yeah...i'm running bamfsense3.0 rc4 with the latest radio.

[Q] 4G issues on rooted phone.

My 4g is not coming on a "fringe" areas anymore, and when I am in the heart of a 4g market, it cuts in and out. It will show 4g on the notification bar, but will not connect to the internet, or will just show an upload arrow. It will eventually work if left along for a few mins, but then cut out or freeze again.
I've been rooted since July, and this is the first time i've had these kinds of problems.
I'm currently running BAMF Forever 1.0.5. I don't believe it to be a ROM issue, b/c i have since flashed other ROMS just to test, and still have the same connection problems.
I have pulled the Battery and sim, and made sure the battery door was on properly. I have tried every GB radio out there, and have not been able to fix it.
My big question: Is this a hardware problem, or could it be a bad sim, or something else?
Since my phone is rooted, how exactly would i go about discussing my 4G issues with Verizon? Would it just be best to nandroid my ROM, and install a rooted version of stock? Can i call and ask for a new SIM over the phone, or will i have to go into a store?
My phone is still usable, as the 3G works fine, but I would like to try and figure out a way to get 4G operational again.
If you've read this far, Thanks.

did you go from rooted stock rom to the Das Bamf Forever gb rom without flashing a new radio? there are links in the development forum to the new 802 radios that i would recommend. i'm using that with shiftao5p and 4g is running great.
I am having issues with 4g in my area too. It was just turned on in my area a couple days ago, but I live in the heart of the area and get nothing but 3g. In certain areas while I'm driving I've noticed that it will connect to 4g, but not for long and when i have been able to do a speed test it has only been around 5 meg down which doesn't sound right.
I'm using the latest gingeritis 3d and have tried all sorts of different radios. I've pulled the battery and the sim card and no dice.
Does it just take a little time for them to get everything working and then the coverage will be what its supposed to be?

[Q] 3g and 4g gone, only 1x

I havent done anything to my phone lately and besides just having roms on it...so i my 3g and 4g data is now gone and i get 1x signal. The signal alternates from 1x to no signal at all. This http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457659 is what i got on my phone right now and i got the radios installed and i still get 1x. At one point 3g showed up, but its really slow. So my question is, how can i fix this network problem?
ps. i have been struggling with this for 2 weeks and ive decided to try and fix it, but no luck
edit: ive taken the battery out and luck either, i also found a thread on how to fix the problem but it didnt help
i too have had this problem for 5 days now. i have been thinking of flashing the phone again to see if it would fix it.
Well i got some signal now, i went ahead and just added another ROM. I get signal every now and then, but i think i would have been better off with just constant 1x signal, instead of having no signal at all then some 3g coverage (really slow for some reason).
I just rooted my girlfriend's Thunderbolt last night and I'm having this same issue.
I had to roll back her latest OTA update and go back to 2.11.605.0 and then run Revolutionary. Since I rolled back her software, though, I've had the 1x signal issue. I assumed that installing the new ROM would fix this (BAMF Forever 1.10).
I've installed BAMF after using Superwipe, and everything runs smoothly. It's a great ROM. However, I can't get anything above 1x signal.
I've done the trick using ##778 and changing the Rev. A setting...no dice (and from what I've read, this is better in areas with no 4G. I live in Brooklyn, so I definitely want the 4G LTE).
I've tried the MR4 radio released just a few days ago, the radio from 2.11.605.9 OTA, and the MR3 radio. Same problem. I guess I'm going to try out the remaining radios I haven't touched, but I honestly don't think that will do anything.
Does anyone have any suggestions??

Ok I take this all back, she tells me her phone now reads 4g lte with full service. Looks like jumping across a few cell towers did the trick.

have you tried using different radios? This solved my issue. I had to go though 3 radios to find the right one, but it worked.
