I'm really wanting to install a theme on my Bell Atrix, either Honeyglow or Bluemyst. They both look cool.
I'm not sure what a CWM is, I have no idea how to safely deodex my phone, so I'm a little leery of doing this. Is there anywhere I can get good instructions?
I'm currently on Gingerblur 4.5 I believe... however the "build number" says 4.2.1.1 - Greyblured...

hey guys sorry if im asking noob question here. im new to the samsung thread area. im used to x and inc.
just recently got this for my wife. been rooted. and thats it. im wanting well, shes wanting to stay on stock side but not too deep with custom rom. i was wondering if anybody had the file or link to a deoxed version of this 2.2 fascinate i could flash over? im not really familliar with dl30 or etc and i dont' know which is the recent 2.2 doexed version. any help would be great. or any rom thats close to stock and deoxed. thx again.
ps. what the heck is voodoo? are we talking about that new digital copy deal or ?
Here's a link to what you asked for:

This belongs in general. You should really use the search function.

Do all of this, except instead of flashing the ROM in that thread, flash this deodexed ROM (same one that chameleo78 linked to). http://dl.dropbox.com/u/20950916/EB0...xed-signed.zip
And Voodoo is a lagfix. Stock Galaxy S phones use the RFS file system, but if you flash a Voodoo kernel it makes the file system EXT4, which improves read and write speeds.
thx for the response guys!!! drop box if over loading so ill wait until it comes back online. thx
OK, don't kill me. New here, just got my Gtab today. I have read a lot and a lot and a lot. Maybe too much. I have not touched my tab yet. Can I start following the easy steps to adding a new ROM, or do I need to do something to the tab first? It looks like vegan is the one to use, but exactly what file is it that I use? I am tech savy, but very new to doing these types of things. Sorry for asking such a noob question. But my brain is in overload right now.
Thanks
Stolly
Just follow the instructions on the vegan thread. You will find the files you need there ;-)
Good luck!
I was ready to roll, but what got me thinking was the bootloader thread. Would that apply to me?
Thanks for the reply
Make sure you know which version android you are on and what bootloader you have. There is a 1.1 and a 1.2 dev branch and I think it makes a big difference. I'm still on 1.1 Vegan 5.1. Froyo and happy with that. Newer builds use different boot loader, make sure you read instructions thoroughly before you flash device.

Check your version in the settings about tablet screen. Most likely you will have a 1.1 based kernel. So to answer your question, No, it does not apply to you.
Look under system and find "about device". Android version is listed there.
Ok, so I just powered up for the first time. Adroid OS 2.2, Tap 1.1-3389. BUT, to really make things worse, I think I have a dead pixel in the display. CRAP
Well wifey says the pixel does not bother her, So I will go ahead and get the ROM going. Is the Vegan 5.1.1 the correct version?
Thanks again
Yes, vegan 5.1.1 is a 1.1 based Rom, you'll be fine with it. HOWEVER, I do suggest that you at least update to 3588. It's still a 1.1 based Rom so flashing vegan 5.1.1 will be the same. it's just a newer version, and useful in case you want ot go to the 1.2 rom's later on.
HOWEVER, me, personally, since you're stock, I would update to 3588, theen flash teh stock 4349, then flash Brilliant Corners (it's just a 1.2 bootloader port of Vegan 5.1.1) That way, if you want to ever get on the honeycomb bandwagon when all the wrinkles are ironed out, you're already on the 1.2 bootloader.
I WAS running Vegan 5.1.1, and I liked it, don't ge tme wrong. I decided to take the plunge and get to the 1.2 bootloader, since most roms will be going that direction in the future anyway. It was more work to undo what I had already done, just to get back to where you are starting from, so you are already halfway there.
I'm not allowed to post a link to another forum that contains the files and information for Brilliant Corners, but if you use some googling skills, I'm sure you can find it. The developer that was part of Vegan 5.1.1, and created TNT lite, and is currently working on the Honeycomb port, switched most 1.1 roms over to the 1.2 bootloader, including Brilliant Corners.
I'm new to all this rooting as well what helped me was some of the video tutorials on youtube. It helps to see something being done before you do it. I have Vegan-tabs 7.0.0 running on mine.
I updated my tab to TW (inadvertently) and want to go back to stock (out of the box) honeycomb 3.1. I have it rooted with cwm installed. I attempted to flash the stock rom, but it aborts installation every time. Someone in IRC explained that you can't go back to stock from TW. Is this true? Anyone know how this can be done? Or does anyone know of any stock ROMs that can be flashed from a TW ROM?
It is possible, yeah.
This is the ROM I used.
Follow the link at the very bottom of the post, it takes you to a similar post on another forum and at the very bottom of that is the link to download the file.
Just copy that zip onto your Tab and flash it through CWM.
Thanks so much. I will check it out and let you know the results.
Worked great! I'm so incredibly happy right now. I really don't like TW. Not sure what all the ROM devs see in it. Hopefully in a few months we'll have Ice Cream Sandwich on this thing anyway.
Glad you got it sorted.
I feel the same way, some of Samsung's touches like the notification area/quick access to the various controls are pretty good but on the whole I hate the look/feel of it - especially what they did to the Settings menu, it just looks awful
Hello All,
Back in April I flashed my phone with the only (at the time) SMB? for bell, . I used a guide to get my phone to build number OLYEM_U4_2.1.1 - GreyBlurred.
I find updating Android so confusing - iPhone was a lot easier :\ but Android rox so here i am.
I've been all over trying different methods to update my phone with no avail. At this point, I don't even care if i lose my app data.
What is the best OS i should run on my Bell Atrix, and how can I do it? Any forum links would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

There you are, everything you need from start to finish.
Make sure you read and understand every line.
After you flash your first rom with those instructions, and feel comfortable with flashing, I suggest you try out both cm7 and miui. Cm7 is original looking android with tons of new features and settings. Miui is a sexy slick looking rom with tons of new features. It's kind of like IOS. But still holds true to android customizability. The procedure is the same with all roms in the first thread i linked, but once you've done all of those things once, you can skip down to "Installing a Custom Rom". No need to re-unlock your bootloader and re-install custom recovery.

Feel free to ask any questions/pm, but this should technically be in the Q&A forum.
Cheers!

Remember. Always backup!
Well first off make sure you have Clockwork Recovery installed on your phone.
(you have to be bootloader unlocked for the full recovery to be installed) If you haven't unlocked the bootloader, make sure you go to the development forum and read up on how to do that using the "international pudding"
Once you have clockwork recovery installed, head on over to this thread and download the gobstopper that you'd like... I would go for the 2.3.6 updated one.
This is a bone stock bell rom, and its the EASIEST way to get back to stock bell.
Thanks guys! CM was a waste of time since I'm on an Atrix... I dont know if that rom is made for the Atrix - it doesn't say so on the site. Now running GB 2.3.6 Thanks a bunch!
Olympus is atrix's codename in cm. It is made for the atrix.
But glad to hear you're running gb!
Wow Bell_GB_2.3.6 has amazing battery life. 3x better than before! Yippeee
Hey guys,
So I am running an ancient rom, GladiAtrix 3 rom with version 2.2.2 of Android. I finally want to flash a new rom, for example Olympus Gold Edition 2.3.6, with Blur so I can retain Webtop. However, it has been so long and all I read on these stickies when I'm trying to relearn are warnings for not hard bricking your Atrix and I am farily confident it doesn't apply to me because I am still not even on 2.3.4 and don't plan on going back to Android 1.8.3. But can someone just confirm for me really quick before I go about flashing if I need to worry about the hard bricking situation?
(All I gotta do is just backup, and follow the installation steps? Or should I factory reset, stock rom flash, THEN flash the new Olympus ROM?)
Thanks in advanced for stoppin by!
Regards,
Any advice appreciated!
