Stock Evo 3d SD Card Contents *.zip *Now LIVE* - HTC EVO 3D

Here are the Evo3d stock file contents of the SD CARD as you would get with a new phone coming from Sprint. Just format the card and copy only the contents inside the SD directory to the card and boot your phone for a full stock experience with the Green Hornet movie and other files.
Please do not flame me if this is in the wrong section. I thought the development section may be appropriate for this content, given so many may want to have access to it. Thank you.
Directions:
1-Unzip file to directory
2-Open SD Directory
3-Copy all contents of /SD directory to cleanly formatted SD CARD
4-Enjoy
Remember, you will need to have hidden files and folders enabled through tools to view the hidden files located on the root of the SD card zip file to have a full transfer of all content.

Awesome. Some folks formatted their SD cards and lost everything.

I'm not understanding why we would need to do this if we are all getting are phones from Sprint to begin with. In what circumstance would I need to do this? Sorry for sounding ignorant.

You want to change your SD card to original stock that you had when you got it from Sprint, but not lose contents you needed (MOVIE)? Have you deleted some of your original files by accident? It's just here for those that want it. I really asked not to be flamed for trying to helped, so please if you think its silly, then keep it to yourself. I had good intentions, and if I help 1 person, then it was worth it.
Edit: File had to be started over half way! Storm took out my power, so I'm just gonna upload it to something more friendly instead of my personal FTP. Got my UPS connected to my cable modem and my computer now, so shouldn't have any interruptions.

No No, I'm not flaming you at all. I was just trying to understand in what circumstances I would need these. I wasn't able to go pickup my phone today so I get it tomorrow. Maybe you could answer this for me. What files, if any, do I need to delete off my card before using it in the 3D. I'm coming from the Evo with a 16g and your thread actually got me wondering if I need to remove anything.
Once again, I was not trying to flame you at all. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. I apologize
EDIT: I've actually just bookmarked your page for safe keeping.

Nothing at all. But there are sample pictures and videos in 2D and 3D along with "The Green Hornet" 3D movie pre-downloaded. So it's good to have the original contents backed up somewhere, just for fun.

This will also come in handy when it comes time to sell the evo 3d for the next latest and greatest device. I can format the sd/phone, unroot, and load stock evo contents to increase sale price when listing on ebay or craigslist. Thanks!

You are in the same situation as me then. I have a 16GB SD card, that I put into my Evo3d. I took my 16GB card from my previous phone and backed it up to my computer. Wiped the 16GB card with the phone and put the files in my original post onto the SD card. Its like having a stock 16GB SD card, instead of a 8GB SD card. If you need things off your previous card, I would recommend, that you pick and choose what you want to keep and learn what paths HTC vs other companies may use for their files to be stored. It is different for each of them. You want to keep Titanium backup files then you are safe, cause the program was downloaded from the market and can the transfered just like you see it on the SD card (Dont really recommend this) but if you want to view video/pic files, then my need to be placed in a different place than your previous phones manufacturer.
If you have trouble with music or pictures, take a pic with your new phone, find out where the files are saved, and copy the files you already pulled from your backup of your SD card before you formatted it.

The files are now uploaded. If you have a problem with anything then please let me know.

Thanks for uploading it, but only 1 mirror is working from the multiupload link (unless you have a premium megaupload account). Depositfiles limits the speed, so it's going to take 7 hrs. to download.
If anyone else wants to mirror the file, filedropper.com works well for large files and isn't as throttled for free users.

This is awesome!!! At Radio Shack I had them swap my HTC EVO 4G's SD Card (Which I upgraded to a 16GB and forgot to back up my files on it) with the one in the HTC EVO 3D. I didn't even think of that fact that the Green Hornet Movie was on it.
Thanks a million.

I'll do that when I get home from work, unless someone beats me to it.

Is the green hornet movie actually on the card already and it just needs the license or does it first download to your card after the license check?
I want to check out the movie but don't want to do the software upgrade yet.....What are my options? Still have stock card in my device.
Thanks!

The movie is on the card so it just needs the license to work.

I didn't even think anything was on the SD Card that came with the EVO 3D. I sold my Roommate my EVO so I just swapped cards, and then formatted his. I was wondering why it wouldn't play now.
BIG Props to OP for this!

•Mirrors - I recommend d/l directly from Multiupload as I was hitting 1.7MB per sec. Much faster than the other options.
-Part 1
-Part 2
*Don't use filesonic unless you have a premium account*
I split the file in half so I could upload it to a couple of more mirrors since most only allow 1GB or less. Plus you don't need a premium megaupload account to download.

question. were is the green lanter movie.. i cant find it on the phone. but i did deleted the sd card so maybe it was there.

Avatar movie deleted from SD card automatically?

I plugged in my Vibrant through it's stock cable and click "yes" so I could copy some photos into my Vibrant but when I turned off the mass USB storage, Avatar was no longer there.
I did NOT touch the SD card or even opened it up in Windows so I have no clue as to why it's not showing up, it looks like the SD card has all of it's free space available though. Is there someway to re-download avatar? I got my phone yesterday but this sucks if I can't.

you can't get it back, just go to the tmobile store and say that the movie never worked. don't tell them you did anything, that it came like that and they have to give you a replacement SD (they did to me when I messed up my avatar movie tryin to copy it to another SD)
Awww.. Also where can I find the 9 digit BAN to fill the rebate form? I have thebox and the papers T-Mobile printed out as my receipt
I had this happen to me too. Good thing I backed it up to my computer when I first bought the phone. But also, I have noticed that for some reason, this phone will delete files on its own sometimes. I've had pictures & video's gone missing without me doing anything.

i just copied the avatar movie to another sd with no problem. i wonder how that happen to you
Could it have been an ID-10-T error?
I work at a t-mobile store. I had enough customers come in with issues concerning that movie file that I ended up making a copy of it to provide an easy remedy. Some people don't realize that the movie is on the SD to begin with and they toss it in exchange for a larger one. I figure that its simpler to just copy the movie to the new card instead of hassling with exchanging phones/sd cards out.
Anyway, I would just go in to your local store and see if anyone working that day has a vibrant with them (if not see if they have one that was returned). If they're nice/competent, perhaps you can just have them make a copy for you.
As for your BAN, it is normally printed on the receipt (listed as account number or similar iirc). If not, you can get it through the online account management or by calling 611.

I formated my SD card Accidently!

So, like the title says, I accidently formatted my SD card today not even 20 min into having my phone. For some reason I thought I had put my other 8GB card into the phone, and when I went to look, sure enough the phone had the Class 4 card in it. What were/are the contents of the SD card. Am I missing anything I didn't have before? Did I delete my movies?
You shouldn't have any problems, I started mine with a blank 16 gig from the first boot of the phone and I have no problems and nothing is missing.

There was some sample music and the Green Hornet 3D movie. I wiped mine as well, but copied the contents to my computer hard drive first. If you want a copy, you can send me your empty card and I'll fill 'er up for you.
Me 2 anyone have the 2d and 3d sample photos that came with the phone I can download
I didn't reformat my card but I have a feeling the girl at Radio Shack who was setting up my phone my have. I spent all day trying to figure out why The Green Hornet wouldn't play, finally figured out it wasn't there. I don't have that or any of the sample pics that are supposed to be on there. The thing that sucks is that the movie has DRM and I'm sure it would be illegal for someone to post a download link on here or something. That is one of the reasons I might try and have the phone replaced tomorrow. I'm a little annoyed that I didn't get everything I paid for. Even if I were to simply watch it once and delete it, that's my choice.

I'm in a similar boat and I would LOVE for you to hook with up with the original files! Can I mail you a. 4.7GB DVD to get them? I only have one SD card and can't be without it.
Wouldn't it being licensed make it okay to upload...can't play it without the license, right? If anyone does UL it or put in their dropbox or something, I would appreciate a link...I too formatted the card (as well as hard resetting) the minute I got the phone in my grubby hands....

Avatar movie wont play :-(

Hi, I'm not too sure why I can't get the avatar movie to play any more but before I go any furthur let me explain what happened, and here goes....... it started yesterday when restored my phone to have a few settings brought back, and then I made a video of my son spelling and counting so after ending the video and played it fir him to see I saw that the avatar movie file as well as the trailer went missing so I check the available space on my SD card and my fears were realized (file deleted some how) so I did the next best thing
And that was to try and recover the file with any file recovery tool I could find online so after finding a good one ( atleast that's what the cute girl on youtube said) I recovered the avatar .dcf file (and I know about DRM protection) and I placed it back on the sd card along with the trailer but as the subject of this post said it just "wont play" and since I got this phone about a month now I've never watch the movie on my device only showed off how cool it looked so am desperate guys please for any advice how to fix this issue please I await any response and thnx

Just go to a tmobile store and tell them....they will trade you your sd card for one that still has avatar on it.....if they have one....usually they do...your not the first to have done this....I did it when the vibrant first came out and they were very helpful

thank you very much
you can always follow the instructions in the sticky on how to odin back to stock if they cant get it to you at the store, it will have avatar on it.
Always Back up!
One thing to remember is to always have a backup of all items you put in computer even with it being on an SD card, you could copy the two files on the SD card and then you would be all set.
With that said, you will need to do this especially it you plan on modding your phone. Gaining root on your phone or boot loading it may actually remove items on your internal SD card as well. I do not know of the extent of your being on this site, but make sure you back up and make sure you read everything explicitly.
I do hope you are able to get your copy of Avatar back. Just do yourself a favor and put a copy on your desktop. One last thing you could do is in preferences of your camera/camcorder there is a setting where you can put the files you make on your internal SD instead.
sincerely
draigons
Did you try this yet?
Avatar Fix!
I no longer have the Avatar movie on my phone - when I first bought this phone I also bought a 16 gb sdhc card and put the 2gb card it came with away. I don't see what the big deal is with this movie but if you must have it do what I've done with other movies - rent a blu-ray and rip it to 720p wmv. If you don't have a blu-ray drive on your PC there are gazillions of blu-ray rips available if you learn how to search.
Same quality, NO DRM crap, can be freely copied, will play on your vibrant regardless of ROM and will play on a big screen using video-out cable, unlike the Avatar movie that came with our Vibrants.
DRM sux.

Incorrect, an Odin will not restore the 1.7gb Avatar movie file. It will restore the apk shortcut link to the movie, but NOT the movie itself.
As for the OP, sorry you had to learn the lesson to always backup your storage cards (or remove the external one) the hard way. I flashed a kernel to my phone, while I was at work, that nuked my internal storage and wiped my /data (so all my apps were gone). Luckily I had backed up my camera folder to my external card and took it out, or I'd have lost all my pictures and videos.
As for the file recovery software, good idea, except in practice I have never been able to recover a usable file from a flash-based storage. I've tried at least a dozen different tools and none of them worked to produce a working file.
If I were you, I wouldn't worry about it. Avatar isn't a very good movie and is encoded badly, imo (ton's of dithering artifacts, macroblocking) so nothing of real value is actually lost.
Odin back to stock ? are sure this will work because I'm not so sure avatar is in it

no it won't..... avatar is placed on the external SD.... you would only get the shortcut back if you odin back to stock.
you can't expect to get that file back..... its protected. regardless of where you got it from. personally i would just get it from a torrent or something. legally.... just try and see if tmobile will trade you a card that has is on it.

Random directory on SD card taking up 6gb of space. 'cpbdf' file Not sure what it is.

My phone just warned me about not having enough space. I store all my media on an external card so I was confused. I mounted the phone and began to go over each directory. I found the attached one which I have no idea what it is. It is using 6 gb of space.
It is in /sdcard/470808579740795203/. The two large files are in separate sub directories and are called "cpbdf". Thats it.
Anyone have any idea what this is?
Not a clue. What files are inside them/what's the files extension/type of file?

Tmobile gs3 has problem w/ external storage, im rooted so cant return it? I need Help

Alright guys, I noticed today that my Titanium Backups aren't on my mount/extsd storage, and I tried to change the backup location under preferences, but it wouldn't allow me. While checking my sd card I noticed the only file stored on it is my pictures? I tried downloading apps to sd in an attempt to move titanium backup, and that's when I realized I have a serious issue I believe. I was given a message when apps to sd opened that said, "this device does not have a real primary external storage, or the primary external storage is emulated"? Whatever the hell that means by emulated I don't know? The sd card was working in the last phone I used it in.
Biggest problem is that I'm rooted, so I can't return it under warranty! At least I can't to my knowledge. I'm in serious need of some help here, I purchased the phone at the T mobile retail store, so I don't know if I can sneak it past them somehow, or if I should maybe just (it hurts to say it) brick it on purpose, and pull the old" it just shut off and wouldn't turn back on" routine?
Please guys, any and all advice will be much appreciated!
Before doing anything drastic, have you thought about maybe reformatting the SD card first? If that doesn't work then try another SD card (they do go bad you know). It sounds like something that should be easy to fix. Whatever you do please don't brick it on purpose. It's not anyone's fault that your device is now acting up after rooting it. At least do them a solid and ODIN back to stock, then try to return it if that's the case.
Hi,
You should read this thread. It should shed some light on your external SD card problem and provide a couple of methods to get around it.

Yes I did format it to no avail, and I'm headed home soon where I'll try a different sd card. I don't want to brick the device, and I've had to unroot and return a phone before because of a hardware issue with the screen that wasn't my fault. The problem with doing that in this situation is that I don't believe there's a way to unroot it and go back to the stock recovery or reset the binary flash counter. As far as you saying it's not anyone's fault, it sure is my friend and it's not mine! I had a Galaxy s4g that wouldn't read an sd card two days after I got it & I had to return it. So, as far as being no one's fault, not true... It would be Samsungs fault, and rooting it had nothing to do with it. If I broke a device because of my own foolishness or stupidity, I would ABSOLUTELY NEVER try to exchange it! The entire basis of my spirituality is based on karma and I would suck it up & pay for my mistake but maintain my peace of mind. This however, I am not at fault for, and I shouldn't be responsible for faulty hardware just because I obtained root access.

Okay I've read the links and this is very odd??? I need to hear from someone with the gs3 that they've also discover that they're phone recognizes & reads the sd card, but will not allow apps to write to it. PLEASE, someone check this and help me out here!
I REALLY NEED TO FIGURE OUT IF ALL Gs3's DO THIS, OR IF I NEED TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO RETURN TO STOCK & EXCHANGE IT?
Sorry for the frustration, but I just spent a heck of a lot of money here, and this is a very aggravating problem....
My TB backs up to the ext SD. I had the same problem you did. Too bad I can't actually remember what I did. :crying:
When you go into TB and try to select storage location...nothing comes up but the internal?
I think I manually moved the TB folder from the internal to the external...then went back into TB to select the location...then selected the Detect button...and it came up with a list of folders that I could choose.
It went something like that. Hope that sheds some light...(sorry I cant remember exactly)
FYI...the ext SD folder is under mnt/extSD...or something like that.
I forget to mention something else guys. I am able to copy & paste my Titanium Backups as well as any other files to the sd card. So, the phone recognizes it, and it will write to external sd if I manually copy things there, but it will not allow any third party apps to write to external sd? I also cannot move apps to the sd card? This is a HUGE pain in the ass! I bought the 16gb model because that's all the retailer I my area had, so the sd card is a necessity for me. If I'm downloading torrents or other large files this could be a problem. I'm really wondering if this isn't just my phone?
It'd be great if someone here with the skills could port this mod for us.

It basically makes the phone think that the external is the internal...and all files downloaded from the browsers or whatever app that doesn't allow sd access...to go directly to external.

Sorry nothing! THANK YOU! I was like 3/4 of the way to that idea, I had already copied the file, but I was just thinking maybe if I deleted the internal file, maybe now it will follow the one I copied to the mount/extsdstorage? I can't thank you enough for just confirming that this isn't a problem specific to my model. I think that this problem should be explained to everyone & stickied. This is a seriously confusing situation. Ppl who don't root or come to XDA won't have any idea why they're music, videos, or anything from third party apps aren't going to their sd cards? Some ppl may not even realize it? I don't know if it's been mentioned in another thread here yet, but I couldn't find anything in our forums about it, and I've been trying to figure out what was going on all day. I still don't understand what the hell it meant about emulated storage?

Is this already a widely recognized problem and I'm just late to the freaking party or what? Because I do follow threads, search the forums, and read, and I've never heard of this before... I hope they have this error fixed in roms.
I REALLY NEED TO FIGURE OUT IF ALL Gs3's DO THIS,

All stock Samsung Galaxies S3 do this. Google in their infinite wisdom is locking down apps so they can not write to an external card that can infect other devices.
Problem is we all want more control with our external cards and there are a lot of unhappy campers with this new "feature". Gamers are especially concerned because they can not install their games to the external card to free up more space.
This is a real strong reason to buy the 32gb model and not the 16gb. One could take the stance that they are forcing us to pay a higher premium for our storage when we purchase the phone.
As I said you can do the work around with directory bind until:
1. A dev comes up with a a patch
2. You install a custom Rom like Cm9 that has patched out this security policy.
Never mind... Now that I'm using better keywords to describe the problem, and searching outside of just the US variants forum, I'm finding threads... I feel like an idiot now! Some folks are talking as if this is better? I don't see it though. I did a nandroid after root, and it only left me with around 8gb or so with my apps installed. I know its faster memory than an sd card, but it's kind of a pain. I hope I never need to download anything bigger than 8gb... Doubtful ill need my phone for anything that big though.
Sorry for freaking out and making a big deal out of this issue, but I thought my device was defective, and I wasn't using good search terms. I should have been able to figure this out without cluttering things with a two Page thread.

Yes, I really wish I could take it back and pay the difference for the 32gb, but with being rooted its really not feasible. I was browsing XDA on my phone also, and I didn't even catch the link in your first post, I was only reading the links I your second post, lol. I really feel like a dummy here since my question was almost immediately answered. Also, the browser can act a little wonky sometimes on XDA. As soon as I made it home to my desktop, I was looking over the thread & knocking my forehead against the screen!
Yeah...but if someone could modify that script for our phones...(I personally use it on my Transformer...and til this day...has been perfect.)

Actually you are bringing up a valid concern and one of the first to do it in this section of the US version of the S3, my hat off to you!
It would be good idea to have a stickied thread in general that addresses this. That way ppl will be well aware of how to work around it. And yes, a patch for this would be great, because some may prefer things this way, and alot will prefer the previous standards. I for one don't like this one bit!
Put a stock rom on it and go into the store. Tell them you're having issues, they can order one on their end and send it out to you.
I would know. I worked there.
