[Q] App to Save Frozen/Thaw States - Atrix 4G Themes and Apps

Is there an app that can save different combinations of apps in a frozen/thawed state?
I would like to save the state I have now, and then try freezing other system apps to test the outcome and roll back to the state that is confirmed ok. Currently I'm using TiB but It's hard to remember every app I froze after I thaw them....

Ill take that as humour I was just thinking if there was an app for that, it would make it faster to narrow down the bloatware

What's the best way to back up apps?

I've been using titanium backup when I flash a new rom. I usually do a full data wipe then, once the new rom is installed, i restore all of my apps and data.
The problem I'm having with titanium backup is that I have to individually install each app which is extremely time consuming.
Does anyone know of a more efficient method of backing up my apps?
BTW, I know you can make a .zip file using titanium but I wasn't able to flash it.

I just spent a couple bucks for the Pro key, which allows for batch restoring/backups. Completely worth it when you're wiping and flashing on a daily basis.
I agree. I bought the Pro key. I think buying it through the Amazon App store will bypass any currency conversion issues, possibly. (It seems like when I bought Titanium Backup Pro, I got charged an extra dollar because of the currency conversion....I don't think I had that problem with another app in a non-local currency via Amazon.)
I am seconding what he said. The Pro key is well worth the couple of bucks or whatever it costs. You just hit the restore and let it do it's thing. No prompts.
At $5.99, this will be one of the most expensive apps I have purchased but I'll give it a try if you guys say it's worth it.

It was the second app (of two) I ever purchased (the other being The Sims for $1), and it was totally worth it. Titanium Backup is simply a great program. The batch functionality alone is worth the price- Dropbox integration is a very nice perk (along with a few other Pro features).
I astro for back ups
I bought the Pro version of Titanium Backup after my first slow and tedious backup without the batch function. Plus the automatic backups are great.
i use my backup pro
Gonna have to invest in this as well. Thanks.
Alrighty. Just purchased and backing up as I type. I'll let you guys know.
Why doesn't google market keep track of the free apps we download?
That way when we first sync with google again it would at least get all our apps installed again.

That would be cool but it would still give a prompt for every single app which takes forever and is super annoying. I bought the Pro key and installed the new Nameless rom but now I have to reroot. I'll let you guys know how it worked out
Pro key for titanium. Best app purchase ever, hands down

Pro key was my first purchase from the market. I don't regret it in the slightest. I always do a batch backup before flashing a rom and then batch restore after. I consider it essential if you are rooted.

It does, actually, in stock Froyo and above, but for some reason the ROMs we have on the Fascinate right now don't.
Normally, when you activate your Google account on a newly flashed phone, all your apps, paid and free, will automatically download as part of your first sync. It doesn't prompt you and it's totally automatic.
I do prefer using TB, though, as Google doesn't backup app data and it can take a really long time to download every app if you have a lot of them. Also, Google's sync occasionally misses apps or downloads ones that you had uninstalled.

I wonder if I have always done something wrong then, I may be new to the fascinate rom scene but I flashed multiple roms on my og droid and they never seemed to give me more than the paid apps
in the market.
admittedly these were aosp roms not stock verizon roms maybe that had something to do with it?
I have the paid version off TB as well but when flashing from say a TW rom to an AOSP rom I prefer to download the apps from the market everything seems to run smother when I do it this way.

Agreed...titanium b/u is worth every penny...on a side note, for me going into settings-> applications-> manage applications-> running applications and going to market (or in my case since I'm on ukb...its tsm market) and hitting clear data...then when I go to the market and hit my apps it will show all of my apps both free and purchased, assuming I don't have any of them frozen because frozen apps won't get recognized by the market...it doesn't start downloading on its own but at least I have a list of complete app download history should I need an update.

never bought the key for titanium, use the free version i like it because of the prompts. Sometimes i have apps that i dont use so i dont install.

[Q] The Best Freeze Apps ?

It is possible to delete them from what i understand... but from what else i understand, if you delete them, you'll need to put them back if you intend on doing any of the OTA updates in the future. So... yea.... po-tay-to, po-tah-to.
titanium backup....
the best bang for your buck on any android device
I use titanium backup and just delete them if for some reason you need them back just reflash a rom.

Titanium backup all the way!

I used to use titanium backup pro up until about a week ago. Then I found Antek which does what I need it to do, all I ever really used titanium backup for, which is freeze bloatware. Never really used it to back up much stuff cause unlike most people I choose to reinstall everything fresh when I flash a ROM. It just feels newer. If all u wanna do is freeze bloatware, I would go with Antek.

Don't delete.
It's a real PITA if you need to restore an app for any reason.
With the processing power, ram, and storage why would you need to delete?...

As for OP's question, Titanium Backup Pro by a landslide.
IMHO everyone should own this app since its like the "Swiss Army Knife" of Android apps...

You should add after they have root as well seeing as i tried to install and it doesnt work on my phone(no root/unlock yet)
I normally just rename the apk in my system folder using root explorer. App.apk_fro

One of the many reason I prefer System Tuner Pro, much more features than just app management, and it's still being updated with new features very frequently.
And not the least, it's still cheaper than Titanium Backup Pro! It can actually replace both TBP and System Panel Pro for much much less bucks! And still offer more features than both apps united!
STP should be the 3rd app on any Android phone if not the first considering it offers many features without root requried!
The first 2 could well be ClockWorkMod and root for those wishing to have extended control over their phone.
I use bloat freezer and love it. It seems to be much more descriptive on the thing I'm freezing than TiB which usually reports com.something

Apps won't close

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this. I am trying to find a way to actually close apps. I have used several apps such as advanced taskkiller and android booster but no app I can find really closes the app. I'll use pandora for example. Since I've loaded it on my phone I have not opened it once but whenever I look in my running apps its running. I will close/force close the app and within 10sec its back open. There are several third apps like this. I understand that some apps need to run but there are some that don't. I need an app that will close these apps and keep them closed. This ends up really bogging down my phone after a day or two of keeping it on. FYI I am using a HTC thunderbolt unrooted

Do you have any idea on how android works? Read the permissions of the app to understand more.

if you use the pandora app rarely then you should download titanium backup and freeze the app. When you need to use it again simply defrost it.Simple as hell

You do realize that developing apps isn't just something you can do in a few hours right? And those apps that get hundreds of thousands of downloads have entire companies behind them?

If I had an idea for an app that would get 100,000 downloads, why would I share it?
I know how to make apps, i have made quite a few for personal use. Because maybe they have a brilliant idea and they don't know how/can't code, we can team up.
I've always wanted to make a better First Responder app.
How about an app that steams movies from the pc while on the go..one that a lot cheaper than vlc direct and one that easier to set up

I know you say you have enough, but here is a request I hope would be easy... An app that would allow a long press on the volume buttons to change tracks from the current music app in use. Example, I use power amp, the HTC music app, and doggcatcher for podcasts. But most roms I can only use long press for the HTC music app. If possible, I would be grateful.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2
That isn't possible as an app, and even if it is, it would hog up a lot of battery running in the background, you would need a new rom or tweak to accomplish that
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
I would like for an app to top me off in the morning and make me a cup of coffee.
I would like to see an app like Boot manager, since is no longer supported and I personally have trouble making dual boot on my phone with that app (bot loops). I heard it has something to do with jb.
Model: Evo 3d GSM,
Rom: AOKP JB 4.2.1-- helicopter88,
Kernel: Anryl v57.

Features:

* Restore PRLs

PRL's can't be flashed in recovery, you need a program like qpst to do that, and as I said before my 3vo is gone, so no device specific stuff

I did not expect device specific or flashing PRL's in recovery I simply want QPST running and connecting to the device through root.

Titanium backup already does that and so does appbak and any other app backing up tool

No I meant without the need of root access. Titanium Backup without the root access is what I'm talking about. Not every user understands rooting. I'm talking about a simple app with a click of a button just like iCloud.
But I'm guessing save datas are stored in a rooting access required location am I right? If thats the case, then only Google can come up with something.
if you are still accepting ideas..
have you seen the google glass' video that says how it feels like to wear google glass?
try making something based on that model, like the camera viewfinder is our eye and we say to give commands. Let's say we speak "what's the weather" and it shows the weather in viewfinder just like it is shown in video. other features can also be implemented.

4.4.2 Stock de-bloating list

So I've always tried to keep my roms as light as possible, as I don't use many LG functions. Thought I'd share my list!

A lot of the bloatware can actually be uninstalled. Just be sure to have a Nandroid backup ready (don't do this if you don't have a custom recovery and a backup), because uninstalling some things can cause a Security Error when you try to boot. I found out the hard way yesterday that uninstalling LGSmartcardService will cause that error, but I was able to remove a lot of other things.

It would be helpful if you can list out the 'Safe to Remove' bloatware if possible,
Right. But the /system partition isn't really readily available for anything useful, so I settled with freezing it at the moment. I've heard of people running into trouble when actually removing the apps before as well, beware!
