in the taskbar ... its the bane of my phone ... i hate it its stupid as hell to have no many clocks showing ..
i understand with dont have fully root .. but we have pretty good temp root and wasn't sure if a script could be made to hide it
I use LauncherPro and there is an option to hide taskbar on the "desktop" or homescreen. If you need to see it you just tap menu and it pops up. The taskbar is displayed on the lockscreen and all other screens other than the desktop tho, and if you get a notification or something it shows up. So it really doesnt get rid of just the clock like you wanted, but the desktop looks alot cleaner without the bar showing and no extra clock as well...ha.
dont want to install another launcher .. but thanks

I don't think it's possible without root. You'd have to take apart the Services.jar file and remove the status bar clock lines manually.
Fill it with a Black Mark u won't see the difference

The stock lock screen is honestly pretty terrible. Laggy and pretty featureless. I've tried a few things from the Market, but as soon as I restart the phone I end up with two lock screens. Any leads?

WidgetLocker is the best replacement lockscreen app...IMHO. And tons of themes here on xda, I make WidgetLocker themes as well.
Try MILocker highly customizable man... Its based upon MIUI

I gave this a try. I like how it looks, but it doesn't seem to scale up properly on our devices. Were you able to get around that?

It seems to depends on the theme. Also, almost everything's in Chinese. I like it a lot after a few edits, now I just gotta get media controls on the lock screen.

Yes the.lock screen is pretty horrible. For now I have just disabled it completely and I think I'll keep it that way for a while pretty nice

Mine works just fine.....if your talking about the actually locks, you can long press on the locks and resize them. you have to be in widget locker to do it, you can't just do it from the lock screen.
so go to app drawer and open widget locker, long press on lock, resize
Im not a huge fan of alot of stuff on my lock or home screen, so for me the great alternative lock for me was sign2unlock.

The good thing about Widgetlocker is that it can be tweaked to have as little (or as much) as someone wants.

I have never understood the craze about giant clock widgets. It seems to me that if there is already a perfectly working clock in your status bar, you would not need to have a huge widget taking up half your screen to have the same function. It would be like having a gigantic 4x4 gmail icon when right next to it you have a normal gmail shortcut in your launcher.
For me, it's a decorative piece on the board. Even though it does take up a fourth of the screen, there's really nothing that it's covering, except the background, and that's already covered up to an extent by the calendar widget. It also acts as a shortcut to the alarm clock, which is really handy.
Big clock is for when your on the the homescreen, and little on is when you're in apps. That's how it is for me
I also have nothing better to put there, and and I don't want my phone to look like an IPhone

Probably the same reason you have android for customization ....in that case why have a android? It makes calls .just get a old flip phone it makes calls.too.
i like the simple clean looking clock - similar to an ics style
dont like huge weather or clocks as i like to see the wallpaper behind
1) i hide my status bar (coz i can), so it helps having clock and date there instantaneously. A little needless i agree but what the hay
2) it looks nice and adds something to my desktop

It is. A agenda widget is way more useful. Also power widget (if you dont have it in the statusbar) is necessary. The power widget alone makes my friends regret they bought iPhones.
Ps: I still use the useless clock widget. Allways

Am I the only one who thinks Google messed up many android features in 4.2?
1) Notification power widgets . now you need a 2nd panel for that.
2) AOKP allows revert to old style power widgets, but they are laid out poorly and less elegant compared to <4.2
3) Lockscreen widgets. Can someone PLEASE explain how this is faster/,more efficient than simply setting a lockscreen target? For example, soundhound ID now can be a lockscreen target. If you set it as a lockscreen widget, it takes more swipes/effort to get to.
.if you agre e or have any helpful workarounds for googles ridiculous decisions, I'd love to hear. Much thanks, all.

I 100% agree.
The lock screen widgets, very sadly, remind me of windows 8. There is no need to have x amount of lock screens. Press the power button and move the lock ring to what ever app you wanna open.
Aren't the notification toggles CM based tho?

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but if using cm10.1 you can enable the old style toggles in settings/system/notification drawer, check power widget and configure. You can also disable lockscreen widgets using an app from the Playstore named lockscreen policy. That pretty much solves your issues. Also, as mentioned those toggles were from cm not Google. 4.2+ are the first builds to have toggles.
Sent from my LTEvo
At first I preferred 4.1.2 but after using 4.2.2 for awhile I really like it. I ignore the lockscreen widgets and with the toggles set to pull down from either right or left on the status bar it works really well.
I figured I had to adapt to stay current and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. :victory:

i just use CMs notification widgets its the same as the old one and i make sure the other ones dont pop up. as for lockscreen widgets. i dont use them much but i do like widgetlocker. that thing has so many different addons for notifications its pretty badass. better than the old one of just clock and weather and calendar. i dont use much of the other widgets for anything else though. you can set the lockscreen to always have targets as the primary when waking up so you dont have push the lock button then target what you want to open. then it ends up just working like 4.1.2 just you have a better lockscreen clock/notifications display.
Mods, please change the title of this thread to "First World Problems"

Yeah, I'm liking it better. Also, I just noticed, in the 4.2 gallery (which I've used for a long time, but never noticed this,) when you're in filmstrip view, you can just sweep up to delete pics. Very convenient.

Yeah there's cool swipe features thru out. I love swiping the bottom of the notification pulldown to toggle between that and your tiles. I like the way Google is going with swiping instead of pressing for said action

Re: 4.2.2<4.1.2?
I must have some setting wrong, cuz sweep in my notification drawer just closes it. If I pull down from right edge, it does open tiles, though. Honestly, I haven't dug into the settings as much as I ususally do. There's just too many, it's overwhelming lol. Running mikeshepards release of rootbox. Hell, the pie settings, haven't even looked em hahaha

Honestly i feel as 4.2 simply added more "sweets" to 4.1, and we have the choice to ignored these features.i love the toggles, one of the features im impatiently waiting for in the Evo 4.2 Sense 5 update. As far as lock screen widgets go i use one and only 1 widget, daily motivational quotes widget i disable all other ones (Even the camera widget), but for each their own. we could have updates like IOS where we get little to no new eyecandy to play and show off *Shurgs*

I don't think you can do it with the native launcher - I tried finding a setting the first day I had it. My guess is you'll need to use a different launcher. I've used Nova in the past...tons of customization available.

I'm with you - my background is fairly light so seeing the clock on the lock screen was hard, plus I wasn't a fan of the stacked style or the thin font (tired eyes like thicker fonts). Was bummed when I dug through all the settings and couldn't find anything that allowed for adjustment.
Same and I agree the stacked got is not that pretty to look at
