It won't download files from filehosting services, but insted html file. Opera doesn't have this issue. Any idea how to fix it?
I'm having this problem too

Ummm I have the stock browser with Astro installed and in the settings for astro it has an option to allow you to download all file types did you try that?
What filehosting service are you using?
Filesonic, Fileserve, Wupload... You name it.
And what has Astro to do with web browser?
EDIT: Didn't help.
Have you tried another Browser? It would help to know if it's a Browser specific issue after all.
Opera can download those files just fine. Dolphin obviously can't, since it's using stock kernel.
I stupidly deleted the native browser on my rooted S2.
Is there anyway of getting it back?
Thanks.
Download a stock Rom, extract the browser, put it in /system/app.
since I have installed final jb rom LIB I can't open google maps and youtube links through the browser to their apps, all links open directly to the browser version. I have tried to delete cache of browser and apps but still having the problem.
any body have the same problem? is there any way to configure it?

I installed a new rom (omega 4.1.2). Saw the stock jellybean browser. Then I CWM flashed the AOSP browser, which usually works. However now I cannot find the browser icon anymore. I checked system/apps/ and the apk is there. There is a "popup browser" which can be activated through links link email links, and that brings up the AOSP browser I want, but in a pop up window. So I know the AOSP browser is there and it works, but I can't find the icon to open the full browser!
How to install stock browser from AOSP ROM on COS /H2OS
Thread topic says it all. COS uses Chrome as it's default browser, and I disable/uninstall it first, since I find most of all Google-given apps on Android as bloatware (Gmail, maps, drive, keep, play games, music, video etc). OTOH, H2OS uses QQ browser that has built-in Chinese bloat and bookmarks. I tried to install a stock 5.1.1 browser from OmniROM as system and as a user app, but it keeps FC-ing. Any help in achieving this is appreciated.
Ok.... So I installed it first in /system/app and it FC-ed. But after installing it in /system/priv-app, the browser works well. If anyone needs to use this, please do the same.
