I heard that sprint is supposed to start pushing lte so y are they still cumn with WiMax phones I still don't have WiMax n my area and u wanna transition that seems like it'll take forever to do or another way to make us spend money

LTE won't be available for quite some time my friend, at least on Sprint. By the time this gets rolled out the 3vo will be obsolete.

speaking of LTE.. my gf;s driod charge is effing fast as Faak.. damn! .. speedtest showed 17 mbit down 8 up... wtf!!! thats some **** i wish wimax could do.

LTE also crashes a lot and is a battery drainer da **** fast but at wat expense

Well is sprint still rolling out Wimax I live by a military base n we still dnt have it
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App

WiMax 2.0 is in the works and promises top speeds of 1Gb. But in the real world, that will probably mean 10Mb... which is still pretty nice.

What's everyone 4G usage like?

Well I barely check my usage amount on the Sprint website.so I decided to take a look, and noticed I used 16gigs of 4G data!! LOL oops anyways I'm sure I'm not the worst one tho!
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
No, awhile ago I was up between 50-60+ gigs a month
I would never make it on AT&T lol!
And this is without tethering a laptop!

I've barely used it. I don't live in a 4G area so I only get to use it when I go to NY city a couple of times per month.
My 4g sucks , otherwise I would use it, I use 4-5 gb of 3g, tho how do you guys use so Much data ?

Honestly with those 4Gigs , nothing out out the ordinary. I do have a lot of cloud items & data syncing.
No torrents or hours of streaming.

Mm that's probably crazy to me cause my 4g sucks , I can't wait for LTE , I had Verizon with LTE (Thunderbolt ) And that was amazing how fast it was

Nonexistent. And it won't change, Sprint won't be putting up more WiMax towers.
Sent from my Evo3D Shooter.
Because I currently still live and work just outside of 4g coverage, my 4g usage is only about 400-500MB. My wife, on the other hand, uses over 5GB a month, since her office gets full 4g bars.

absolutely zero GB/MB/KB/B per month. We have three towers here and they haven't officially turned them on yet. If you are within a mile or two of them then you can get 4G, but with Sprint allocating zero dollars toward WIMAX then I guess that's what we have to live with until LTE comes out.......which I will believe when I see it.
Great, another "how big is your ePenis" thread.

Photon with LTE????!! LOL even newspapers get confused

International business times were comparing the galaxy nexus and photon in every catagory and said about connectivity
"Connectivity: Galaxy Nexus has HSDPA 21 Mbps, HSUPA 5.76 Mbps and 4G LTE support. The Photon 4G has Rev.A up to 3.1 Mbps, HSDPA, HSUPA, along with 4G LTE support."
I just find it weird how people dont differ wimax from LTE . Link for the rest of the comparison on the bottom if interested
http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/272109/20111223/samsung-galaxy-nexus-vs-motorola-photon-4g.htm
Hahaha that's awesome, and you cant even really compare speeds because of different network ranges at different locations etc... im sure uve heard the huge rumors debating that this phone does have a dual wimax-lte chip but only has wimax drivers(till sprint updates their network and this phone)

Let the other carriers catch up... And just keep pullin more crap outa there butts to flaunt in the other carriers faces! Like they were the first to offer 4g a year ahead of everyone else.. And KEEP there unlimited plan then they do this! O: the only place they lack in is a wide range of phones but theyre even catching up in that department! Nd who cares they gor the mopho!!

2. See #1

Actually better signal would = better battery life on cdma networks.
Yea I can guarantee that the speeds will be much lower with more than a few people connected to the network. I'm just impressed that Sprint is capable of this is all.

Check out the company called light squared and search it with sprint in the same search. Sprint is paying out the ass to make it work. I'm a recruiter and I work with the company they have recently had some break through and even some test. If it works out. Sprint will be able to use the tech to transfer their LTE anywhere you can receive a GPS signal.

sprints 3G network..

whys everyone complain so much? I just did some tests on 3G, was getting 1.8mps 1.7mps 1.8mps download and around 1-1.5 upload with just above 100ping, hell i can game on that all I want. at my friends apartment we play gears of War online using my photon, i get around 250 ping there but there is NO lag in game. and it only used like 60kbps? small huh?
edit- and people complain about the 4G.. now I understand for the people that don't have it but in laurel mississippi/kansas city ANYWHERE I go (especially kansas city) i have 2-full 4G bars and in Kansas City I have coverage an hour away from the actual city in any direction
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
lucky you.
i get a ping of 500-700 down of 175-300 kbps and upload of 400-600kbps
whats worse is with 4g i get about a ping of 300-320 download is 800kbps to 1700kbps and upload is 100-300kbps and this is not peak time where i live. during peak time 4g is worse than 3g.
My speed has be improving
1mb up 400 KB down 300 ping though
Seattle Wa.
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
Ya they need to catch up to the other carriers soon, or they will loose all their new customers.
Sent from my Motorola Photon using Tapatalk
i got 1.12Mbps down and .65Mbps up with 240 ping. to seatle server. and thats on my airave....
and its not my isp because on my comp i get over 30mbps down and over 4mbps up
What speeds do other carriers get? I tested Verizon's before 4g ever came out and it was close to 3 mbps
Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk
Sprints speeds are by far the worst in the industry. Their equipment sucks, their service sucks and they are so far behind it's a joke. I just did a speed test and got 475 kbps down and 550 kbps up. Thats a complete joke in Phoenix Az. I would test 4g but oh yeah, Sprint never gave it to us here like we were promised.
Yesterday I got 2.35 down and .85 up. And I get a steady 1.89 down and 1.07 up.
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App

Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
Yeah here on the armpit of Texas I get 50/80 down and even less up no 4g and seemingly no promise of 4g but yet those bas#@%#! Charge me 10$ a month for it if verizon wasn't so damn expensive I would have jumped ship already
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
well I'm living in the areas with the upgrades nd what not, they have amazing 4G and 3G so I'd just wait, personally I think sprint is making it ahead of the game in the long run.. they already have future plans for lte-advance deployment after the LTE deployment..
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
What are you guys using to read those speeds???
Mopho....
The obvious reason that people complain is because not everyone is capable of getting those speeds via 4g must less 3g. If I could get 500 up and down on 3g on a regular basis I would probably be happy. As it stands I'm lucky to get a quarter of that.
Its great you have good speeds, but you should realize you are in the extreme minority when it comes to Sprint customers.

The problem with all this is that it's the future, and promises. The reason i switched to Sprint was 4g. But still don't have it. 2 years of waiting. They need to catch up now, or people will jump ship.

I envy all of you for being happy with those awful speeds. I left 8-10 mbps on tmo to come in and max out at 500kbps on sprint on a good day. I suck it up because this is the best phone ever.
Sent from my MoPho using the XDA Premium app
As long as I get 1 mbps down I'm happy. I don't see the need to have 10-40mbps download speeds on a cell phone. I could care less about 4g, I rarely used it anyway. I've gotten as high as 2 mbps on sprints 3g and that was more than enough speed.
Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk
I get 2.55 down 0.33 up.. In maricopa Az .. But idk if the airave have any play to the speeds

It all depends on where you're at, how good the Sprint coverage is, and how heavily taxed the network is.
Chicagoland USED to be fantastic, but it has suffered dramatically over the course of the last year.
I live in chandler...4g in the area and my speeds r double
Hate much. Lol

Why get sprint lte

Why should we get a sprint lte phone (next cycle) , when they are two years out from being turned on. Yes I know they are testing in some town with 10 residents (which none of them are probably sprint customers). I'm still waiting for 4G.

It's still the same price and my WiFi at home is better than 4g anyway. If you have stuck around this long no reason to jump ship now your halfway through the changeover

Lol I may end up getting it when I am outta contract. Kinda wanna see what people think of it.. I don't care for the LTE or 4G just the specs are pretty nice no 3D which makes me happy just want my 8MP back so I can play with CM and other sense less builds.
The only reason I will eventually move to LTE (I'm already currently in a WiMAX area) is for the improved speeds and the lower frequencies. Lower frequency radio waves will better penetrate thick walls (like concrete) and will reduce how much battery it uses. Therefore, LTE is overall more stable than WiMAX technology.

The big issue I see is a big price jump once lte is turned on. There is some serious traffic control that lte has that wimax doesn't. When they can truly see what being used and the rate of consumption, bye bye unlimited.

though I do think there will be a day when unlimited will be no more, i don't think it will be anytime soon, for 2 reason, 1 the premium data fee ($10) we all pay according to dan hasse is the reason we don't have tier data plans already, so if they switched they can't charge that anymore and 2 sprint uses it too much to advertise with, and is a reason so many of the customers are staying... if they lose that they will lose A LOT of customers...

I only get to use it if I go to Atlanta or I go up north to Michigan
I am in no hurry to upgrade. I live in a small city about an hour north of Atlanta. My little city of 30k has WiMax and is set to get LTE the first round, but I get 4G inside my apartment and downtown. While I don't get LTE speeds, I do get around 7-8mb. And I'm okay with that till the next round of LTE phones come out. WiMax isn't going anywhere anytime soon for those of us that have it.

I'm sorry that's the case. As a frequent traveler I am in almost always in Wimax coverage and have been very satisfied for the most part. However, thinking I'm hot s*?t pulling down 10mgbs on my couch always gets me into trouble as my buddy ( who is smartphone illiterate) pulls down 30 on his razr max. Yea at those speeds its basically just a pi$$ingcontest, but with almost 24 months on the competition you have to feel dissapointed in the way Wimax was.handled.
