Clockwork recovery is basically for every android phone. Just go to market and download rom manager. Launch it and you will be able to install custom recovery. And I also believe that your phone and mine are part of the optimus one family.

If you would have posted in the LG Revolution forums, you'd get better help
Do you have the phone set to "internet connection?"
Have you downloaded the correct drivers from here:
http://www.lgforum.com/resources
Scroll almost all the way down to the bottom of that page and download the "Verizon" drivers.
1 Download zip and extract
2 Install drivers if not already installed
3 Click root.bat and watch the magic!!!
How Do I Remove CWM and Unroot?

Now you can root once you install those drivers. Follow the instructions in the "All In One" root thread and get rooted. Then hop over to the thread for GingerVolt and get your ROM. Here's the thread for Gingervolt:

Ok cool, is that all you wanted to do to it or did you want a custom ROM or an overclockable kernel? Maybe a theme?

Yeah you'll lose your apps and stuff. There's an app called MyBackup Pro in the market than back up your apps and contacts to your sdcard. Then you can just flash the ROM and restore your apps and contacts afterwards.

ok thanks and what custom roms and themes do you have, does it matter on the phone type, and how do you run a flash rom....youtube is confusing

Ok so I just got an LG optimus one, which is supposed to be 2.2. Right when I get internet connection, my phone randomly updates to 2.3.4. Thats right. An LG p500 has 2.3.4. But I really need a root. is there still a way to do this??

The easy way for LGP500 (Optimus One) is SuperOneclick -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
You have to install LGP500 drivers and activate from Settings - Aplications - Development - Debugging Mode. After that you can proceed with SuperOneclick, is rooting your phone automatically.
Also next time try to ask your questions in Optimus One General forum FAQ thread.
Have fun.
Does it have any change from 2.3.3 never see a oficial 2.3.4 for our phone.

Does this mean we will be able to flash custom ROMs on here? Or does that require the unlocked bootloader?
If you can flash custom ROMs, what exactly does an unlocked bootloader provide that root doesn't?
Sorry I'm just a newbie about to pick a Android phone (don't have a smart phone), and just trying to make an informed decision.
No, root by itself doesn't enable custom roms. You might get jumped on for your question because a noobproof search would tell you that customer roms need a custom recovery, and that requires an unlocked bootloader.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda premium
You don't need an unlocked bootloader for custom roms in all cases . My xperia x10 got some custom roms before the bootloader was unlocked.

The installed SuperSU app wouldn't run, but after I updated it from Play it opens fine.
Yes, it worked great. Love the non english bat file. Keeps you guessing.
Just an update on this.. I restarted the phone after root and it no longer boots. It shows the LG logo and says security error under it and then just shuts off.
Grrr..

Root won't do that by itself. Did you debloat/uninstall some apps? There was a report in the general OG forums that if you uninstall any of the Google apps it will trigger the LG security lockout. Freezing them works Ok, though.

You can do the restore probably, with LGNPST. Look in Dev under stock firmware.
Ok on the lg lucid using ROM manager it says there's a compatible cwm recovery and will download and install it. But it never works . Is it not compatible with 4.0.4 and only gingerbread? I can't find anything online about it. I'd rather not have to flash the official GB firmware, reroot then install cwm and flash a ROM.. It's tedious and wipes my phone completely and yes I'm already rooted. Any ideas? I really need help and would appreciate it greatly. Ready to flash cm10. They have a ROM for the lg lucid so I know you can get the recovery to work please and thank you. Any and all help is appreciated.

Hello there! Glad you dropped by.
The ROM Manager is almost decrepit now and not many people use it. In fact, I haven't seen support for many of the new devices lately. You can't install CWM through the phone; you'll need a PC to do that.
LET'S GET STARTED!
Since you're already rooted, you can get the CWM for LG Lucid from here. BTW, make sure that you have some version of Windows installed, as this works only on that.
Unzip the archive and place it on the desktop.
Make sure you enable USB Debugging in Settings > Applications > Development.
Connect the device via USB cable to the PC. (Make sure you don't use any hubs to connect.)
Double click on the Installer.bat file
Follow the instructions displayed on the screen
Once the process is over, you've finished installing CWM Recovery to you LG Lucid 4G!
You can now install CM10! Good luck! :good: Post back here if you have any problems at all!

It should work. Just try. There's no point in having a phone with 4.0.4 and downgrading to GB just to install CWM all over again.

There is no "installer.bat" file in the zip linked to

thank you noseph for having the one box account where I have found the required files (except the CWM install files) (CM, root, cab to kdz, gingerbread downgrade, ect) (Not a fan of RomManager to install CWM)
Everyone on the interwebs seems to have linked to shabbypenguin's now dead links.

Hey there little insight about the lg l70 ms323 specifically. It can be rooted the bootloader can be unlocked and clockworkmod recovery can be installed. All we have to do now is wait for a rom to be developed for this phone. I can confirm all this because i have completed each thing successfully.

Will the methods you used to unlock bootloader and get custom recovery work for the lg realm/ls620? Root checker says it's an l70.. If they will work can I get links on how to do so? Thanks

You can just use towel root method for the lg realm just install busy box and super su
If the root doesn't install that automatically.

I see from googling your device seems like there aren't any devs for a ROM on your device however it does have a preinstalled 3e recovery which is a basic one but as for new ROM I do not believe there is a custom recovery or ROM at the moment sorry man. Hopefully if it has more demnland for being built it might have some Dev interests. However though I can give you a place where you can ask for a custom recovery to be built by some indie devs. Unleashedprepaids.com is a good place to check for info and ask for a custom recovery build. Good luck man.

So do you think in the built in recovery I could back up his stock rom? I too saw that it had a reckvery. But I don't have the phone in front of me to try anything.
Sent from my SM-N900V using XDA Free mobile app
I would want to say no because it's a stock recovery that they included it may have while options and or side loading with adb maybe but as for backing up I'm not sure most likely not. The only way I've personally done backups without a custom recovery was with nandroid backup which is also what I used for my lg 70 I used to own and it did really well on backing itself up I made a guide on that ms323 specific device on unleashedprepaids form in the lg section of MetroPCS . just make sure you have busy box installed if you do nandroid backup route.
