In adb:
adb devices
adb shell
echo 1 > /data/local/lge_adb.conf
After that open SuperOneClick and root using pneuter. Reboot phone and update Superuser from Market.
That's all, ROM rooted, worked perfectly fine for me.

So, you posted this on June 26th. Now it is July 2nd. For the whopping 7 days you have not been able to read the darned sticky threads and find how to use search?!
Sigh, this forum is going downhill pretty fast.
Short tutorial how to root stock gingerbread
1. Read everything first and after do what is necessary:
What Is ADB And How To Install It With Android SDK LINK 1
(also read point 2. INSTALLING ANDROID SDK ON YOUR WINDOWS PC from this link LINK 2)
Don't forget to restart your PC after installations.
2) Read and install this LINK 3
3) do what 22VIN posted
In adb (this means in cdm/total commander mentioned in Link 1 at "How to Use ADB"):
adb devices
adb shell
echo 1 > /data/local/lge_adb.conf
After that open SuperOneClick and root using pneuter. Reboot phone and update Superuser from Market.
Worked for me, I had some problems updating superuser, kept force closing, but after restart, it works. hit thanks if this was useful for you.

Is this question really necessary? No, it obviously is not necessary but it is useful to check whether the phone is recognized by the computer. Also, will your fingers perhaps fall off because you have pressed 11 "redundant" keys and Enter?

Lol.
doktornotor is right, check if your device is recognized by adb because I really don't want to see a thousand people asking why this method doesn't work, this being actually caused by the improper connection. So make sure you install ALL the drivers, usb debugging on, unmount sd for superoneclick and check if the connection is okay.

*edit*
A new app has appeared on the market called "z4root". This seems to root in one click.

v1.5.4
Fixed superuser install issue
Added a prompt to tell you to allow superuser on your phone, for the test.
Fixed unroot.
It can take a while to ROOT - looks as though it is stuck in a loop. I thought it wasnt working but waited about 10mins and it worked.
If you wait longer and it still doesn't work, try untick/retick USB debug while it's running
Hey Presto - ROOT !
Thanks CVCHETAN for adding the attachments & tidying it up.. it was late
Remember you will probably want Busybox too - click Problems from within Titanium to download.
NOTE: If you're having no luck with this, it seems the PDANet client might install different drivers which help the process. If you're struggling this might be worth a try. Also ticking Unknown Applications allows it to send the SuperUser.apk has reported to help some users.
PdaNet Client is here.
Pre-requisites not mentioned in this post:
Working 2.1 X10
Drivers must be installed for X10 Debug mode - try adb manually to check
Some virus checkers might flag these files - this is because an exploit can be a security risk, but 100% virus free
You run this all on your PC - it connects to your phone and roots it from there.
Doesnt work for me, get failed! No ~~FU GOO~~ or something
Tried different versions of the app
Hmmm Barnacle isn't working quite as expected (even after setting athwlan0), but Titanium is definitely giving root...
will post a pic in a bit, have another x10 to update / root first

Follow this guide exactly, and you can root OTA Gingerbread on your Droid X2 That means no more SBF'ing Froyo just so you can root. I have put all the commands into a few simple scripts. Instead of doing everything manually, you can just follow this simple guide. This post assumes you have ADB installed and know how to use it, and that you have the Motorola USB drivers installed.

Can someone point me in a good direction to learn ADB. I am reading over and over that the one click method doesn't work for the X2. I have a X2 running pre-rooted GB right now from the old "sbf back then root" method, but it is getting replaced on Tue. Would love to just root it when it arrives rather than sbf and stuff.
unless there is a method to get the one click to work of course....then by all means educate me on that

This is not my script. It is DooMLoRD's. Post found here.
I just ran this script on my RAZR 6.11.744.XT912.Verizon.en.US and it unrooted with success. I confirmed by trying to run Root Explorer and Rom Manager.

For those of you who used the mac version of the root script from DroidRazrRoot.com, the script on this thread works to unroot as well. They are both based on DooMLoRD's method. I tried it, and it worked perfectly. Obviously you need Windows to run it, but for some it's a lot simpler than using terminal commands. I just borrowed my friend's Windows laptop, installed the drivers, ran the unroot tool, restored my phone to factory settings, and it worked like a charm. Just be sure to uninstall clockwork recovery BEFORE you unroot if you installed it through safestrap or any other method. While I didn't try uninstalling it after I unrooted, I'm not entirely sure if you can once you unroot. Now it's ready to go back to Verizon for data connectivity issues :-/
I was enjoying the beauty of having a rooted device, but now that I have received an update from Motorola (which I thought was ICS) I have lost root access.
I have a Photon 4g running 2.3.5, and I did my root using a OCR when I was on 2.3.4. I have tried that OCR again among others and torpedo photon and no luck. Every app I try says that it was denied superuser access (which is still installed). The only exception to this is Play Movies, which says that "This app currently does not support root access, and your device is rooted" I do not know where else to turn. I just want to be part of the cool kids again. Please someone help me.
I have had success with the photon torpedo method on 2.3.5. I recommend trying it again being extra careful to follow the steps exactly.

For those who successfully rooted w/Photon Torpedo... is your 2.3.5 from the May Soak, was it re-soaked last week, or was it 2.3.5'ed for the first time this week?
God, I'm glad I told Moto to fsck off & swore I'd never install another Moto update (soak, push, or otherwise) again. Refusing last week's soak just might have enabled me to grudgingly endure my final 50 days with this miserable excuse for an Android phone.

You don't need to create /data/tmp in your phone's internal storage. That folder already exists inside the system partitions. Use ADB to push it in. Follow the instructions in the Photon Torpedo thread.

I didn't have my phone Rooted before the update to Android 2.3.5 but after trying several different methods I found one that worked with ADB and torpedo program/files with a step by step that actually says to have 2.3.5 I followed the instructions and it worked for me, only problem I had was I unzipped the photon-torpedo.tar file by mistake... it doesn't have to be unzipped into the folder just place the whole file in the folder.

The MoPho I rooted is fairly unique, so I can't promise anything, but this is what worked for me. All credit goes to edgan. I didn't develop anything.
Photon Root Instructions
1. Create a folder in the C:/ drive on your Windows 7 machine called Photon root. (You can call it anything you want, but that’s what I called mine and will use for the purpose of this post).
2. Download and install the adb package from here and install them into C:/Photon root.
3. Download photon-torpedo.tar from here and copy it to C:/Photon root in your windows machine. Do not unzip it.
4. On your phone, go to Settings > Applications > Development and select USB Debugging.
5. Plug your phone to your computer and on your phone, set it to USB Mass Storage.
6. Copy photon-torpedo.tar from C:/Photon Root to your phone’s internal storage using Windows 7. Don’t put it in any folder, and leave it zipped.
7. Install Superuser from the Market. (This is absolutely necessary to do before you get started or it won’t work)
8. Open the command prompt (Start >> run “cmd” >> enter)
9. Type the following commands – don’t worry about the errors, it will be all right
• cd C:/photon root
• adb push photon-torpedo.tar /data/tmp
• adb shell
• cd /data/tmp
• /bin/tar xf /data/tmp/photon-torpedo.tar
• /data/tmp/photon-torpedo.sh
• /data/tmp/install-su.sh
10. That's it. Reboot and enjoy.

Tried this 2x - I didn't see many commenting on going back to an original stock rom before, getting the OTA update, and that rather - rooted devices would be unrooted after 2.3.5 OTA. I've never installed any other ROM besides what came with the phone...
Was there something I needed to do to "unroot" or revert without wiping/losing my current settings / apps ? Basically, what can I do to get this done
rooted apps installed : AdAway / Superuser free / Root Basic Check free / LBE Privacy Guard / Wifitether
Thanks in advance for the info. I realize Shabby's AIO will not re-root my phone, so will need to see the ADB/Torpedo methods posted here after. I just need to get the OTA update working first.
I would think twice before taking that ota update. Currently, under 2.34, your bootloader should be unlockable. The main effect of the 2.35 update is to lock the bootloader.

Worked for me

John was right, just ignore the errors. This method by edgan worked for me.

I agree with bitbang, I've had enough of this bullsh*t from Motorola. It's time for me to shop around. Unfortunately for me, I have a little more than a year on my contract! I've heard that Sprint had some kind of buy back or release program where they let you trade in your phone for something new (for a "small" fee, of course). It just might be worth it to get away from Moto. This smartphone technology changes way too fast for 2 year contracts anyway.
It's a shame. When I can get this phone to work properly, it is awesome, I'm sure bitbang even agrees with that but it is definately time to move on. The Samsung Galaxy 3 looks pretty cool!

When the update fails and you see the Android guy with the "!", press and hold both volume up and down. This will show you on the screen why it failed. Common causes for failure are mods to the build.prop file or removal of core apps.
VRoot Cleanup Tool - Easily replace VRoot with SuperSU
From your Windows PC
OK everyone, here's the deal. I did the VRoot the toher day on my phone and it worked great. The problem is that it can be tricky to get the old Chinese Superuser app and SU binaries updated to SuperSU. As a result I decided to put this tool together to help update the VRoot files to SuperSU, and get rid of the old VRoot ones. What this means is that you can now clean up the Chinese Super User app and completely install SuperSU with a single click, from your Windows PC.
How to use:
Download Root Cleanup from here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/sto74q58uq4r1bj/root_cleaner.zip
Extract it to a folder on your computer.
Open the new folder and double click the clean_root.bat file.
Follow the directions.
** You will want to make sure that USB debugging is on (which it should be from VROOT) and that VRoot is closed when you run this. **
Also note I only have one phone to test with, and it worked great on the one I have. Please let me know if you have any other issues and I will try my best to help. Also, as always, not responsible for problems . <3
Edit: I just got asked via PM if this is to be run after freezing VRoot, etc. So I wanted to add here in case anyone else wondered. With this tool you do not need to freeze VRoot, delete any files, etc. My script will literally take care of everything for you. So, run VRoot and the phone will reboot. You can immediately close VRoot on your computer and run this to completely replace VRoot with SuperSU, and remove VRoot files.
This is my first time writing something like this, but so far I have a lot of people who told me it works fine. Please let me know if you have issues and Ill do my best to help! I went ahead and created this thread at the request of some people who have had good success with this on the other thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2511815&page=29
Update: V4 is up - this version makes sure that ADB is accessible. Thank you @k1mu for helping me with this!
I want to ask you, why do you think the process on i9505 hangs on the line "cleaning up files" and does not automatically reboot the phone? You need to manually reboot it.
For the rest it works great!
Thank you

My guess would be these lines:
adb shell "su -c 'rm /dev/com.mgyun.shua.su'"
adb shell "su -c 'rm /dev/com.mgyun.shua.su.daemon'"
adb shell "su -c 'rm -rf /dev/com.mgyun.shua.su'"
adb shell "su -c 'rm -rf /dev/com.mgyun.shua.su.daemon'"
The issue is that I cant remember if com.mgyun.shua.su and com.mgyun.shua.su.daemon are directories or files. If you could confirm for me which they are then I will be happy to fix my tool!
Thx
Angie
it tells me that "device not found" any clues?
never mind the first statment if i put the file in the phone the run it from my computer it goes away. but I'm now going to put word for word what it tells me. "When prompted to grant root to ADB select yes. 'adb' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. Once you have granted root to ADB press any key to continue... Press any key to continue . . .
but it never askes me to grant root to it it just sits there and does nothing and if i hit continue with out allowing it, it just deletes the su and unroots the phone. any clues about what I could be doing wrong
Works also with Galaxy S4 Italy Gt-i9505 :good:

If you are getting device not found that typically means that ADB is not able to access or find the phone. I would make sure that you close the VRoot tool as it will keep the debugging bridge tied up, and give you a device not found error. After you root you need make sure VRoot is closed before running my tool.

That "adb is not recognized.. " is because the batch file is not running with it's current directory in the folder where you extracted it.
@LilTechPrincess -
adding "cd %~dp0"
at the start of the clean_root.bat will ensure that it's able to find the files that it needs since that'll CD to the drive and path where the clean_root.bat was extracted.

So did it fix your root to SuperSU?
Also, does anyone know how I can prompt root to ADB easier than this? Currently I am doing this to try and force the Superuser prompt:
adb shell "su -c 'touch /sdcard/invoke-root'"
If anyone knows how to do this better please let me know!

Thats not a big deal. Basically, I removed the /sdcard/install-recovery.sh from the script earlier and forgot to not try and delete a file that doesnt exist... Ill fix that! haha That doesnt hurt anything at all. Sowwy!
