So i followed the steps in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12580345#post12580345
Used the modded DockService.apk and PortalApp.apk files. (i'm on 1.83)
Webtop is functioning when i connect an HDMI cable but my wifi keeps getting disconnected ever 3 minutes or so. Sometimes it reconnects on its own but most of the time it doesn't.
Same happens now even if Webtop is not being used.
Only had the phone for a week, not sure if i'm going crazy and its just the wifi signal being weak, or i've had this problem all along. I used wifi before and i immediately noticed it this time right after doing the mod.
I also had the phone set to airplane mode this whole time (with wifi turned on).
Anyone experience something like this?

I would like my gtablet to remain able to establish ssh connections
after the display turns off.
It appears even if I set the wifi preference to never go to sleep, once
the display turns off I cannot either ping or ssh into my gtablet?
So, I wonder if there is a way to do this.
(By the way, I assume that the wifi has power saving implemented
so just sitting around will actually not use much battery.)
I've noticed that when the screen goes off, adb even loses the tablet until you turn the screen back on. But I am having the same issues with Wifi, and setting it to never sleep in addition to installing a keep alive app doesn't seem to do much good. When the screen goes off for a couple of minutes, all connections seem to be lost.
It would be nice if there was some sort of solution to this.
yes, I can't get wifi to stay on. Basically, I want the tablet to stay
on but the screen to blank.
This is more important now that I have rsync installed and could
do automated data transfers or backups at scheduled times.
I am running Vegan 5.1.1 and am wondering this too, is it a vegan problem or gtab? Is there a dev that can make a kernal to stop this?
I am on a TnT ROM using Clemsyn's kernel, and I get the same problem, so it might be a device issue.
I'm trying out an app called Wifi Fixer -- free from the Marketplace (though I'll get the .99 cent donate version if this works). I left the tab display off and untouched for about 10 minutes just now, and wifi was still connected when I turned it back on. I'll let it sit for about 1/2 hour and see if it still works. If so, we might have a winner
In TNT (Lite), try Settings -- wireless -- Wi-Fi Settings -- Advanced Settings -- Wi-Fi Sleep Policy
wifi sleep policy is set so -- supposedly -- wifi never sleeps, but that did
not work for me (wifi was shut down when tablet goes to sleep - I wonder
what controls that - I would want display and system to have separate
sleep control ...)
But I found an app in market, wifi keepalive that seems to be working.
My tablet just turned off the display and I can still ssh, ping and rsync
successfully.
Maybe that is the solution.
I wonder how much power this will draw?
(I have a nokia n810 "mini-tablet" and even with wifi on (power saving
mode enabled) battery consumption is pretty minimal if wifi is not
actually in use. Does android use power saving mode in wifi?)
Well, I already had it set to never sleep. The Wifi Fixer seems to work though -- I let it sit for about 1/2 hour, and when I flipped it back on, the wifi was still connected.
Edit: Nevermind, that didn't work either. Sucks, I love this tablet, but if it's a dead fish when the screen is off for a few minutes, it's lost a good deal of usefulness to me.

That was the one I was using initially, but while it wouldn't drop the wifi connection upon turning off the screen, it would eventually drop it -- when I woke the tab back up, I'd have the wifi lost icon for a few seconds.

yep, it looks like that happened here too ... maybe some other
app is resetting this; it lost my connection after a radiotime
app was playing for about half an hour with screen off
I hear that ubuntu might run on this - it would be great to
have a **real** operating system to fiddle with
Hi,
I just bought a Sony Tablet S, amazing device. The only problem I'm having is that when the tablet is idle, or the screen shuts down, the WiFi gets disconnected and it doesn't reconnect untill I open the WiFi panel in the settings app.
Now before you guys jump to conclusions, yes, I changed the WiFi disconnect policy to "Never (uses more battery power)". That hasn't helped at all.
Any ideas? Is this just with Sony S or a generic Honeycomb thing? Tablet hasn't been rooted as yet.
Try Advanced Wifi Lock Free. It works well with my tablet.
This issue seems to be a bug in Tablet S. I hope they'll fix it in the ICS release
Yes, already discuss here...
You need to install a must have application...
Advanced Wifi Lock

Worked
Thanks for the app recommendation. It's working...so far .
I bought my Tablet S 2 days ago.
Though I have heard of this issue before, my new tablet does not have this problem, maybe Sony has fixed the bug.
p.s. I changed the wifi disconnect setting to Never.
I started using wifi advanced lock a couple weeks ago and it works great! Much better than making sure the screen stays on during all your downloading
...Although I've noticed a massive change in battery life. Typically I was always getting 7-8 hours of screen on (gaming) time out of it, with up to an additional 24 hours of time with it on standby.
Now I got about 13 hours standby and 4.5 hours screen on time with wifi constantly on.
All I'm saying is to have a widget for turning on/off wifi quickly, and leave it off when it's not in use. I didn't think that wifi made THAT much of a difference..but apparently it does lol (and that was still without autosync on either)
I uninstalled that and use spare parts instead. Advanced wifi lock was horrid with my battery grrr
I think is normal, because if you put your tablet in standby is because you're not using them so why you need wifi on?
When you turn on again the wifi will reconnect auto again
WPS Wifi Lock
I had the same issue when connecting at my house, If you have a WPS enabled routter, connect to you access point using WPS. At keeps the signal locked.
Hi,
I have a VAG (Volkswagen, Skoda, SEAT, Audi,etc..) group's car. It included a built-in bluetooth system. It did well with all my previous phones but with the HTC Titan it does not work as expected. It connects to the mobile and If I do a call just then it works well. Nevertheless, after a while from connection the system gets stuck and does not work. Two minutes later, the connection drops and reconnects after 30 seconds. Then, another two minutes and drops connection, and so on... It seems to be a problem with the agenda as no synchronization is performed and the system seems to lock there... Anyone with such issue and or suggestions/recommendations?. I have tried everything (no sleep mode, screen always on, USB connected for power, full cleanup of the system, no apps installed... ) but nothing happens. I have thought of using a bluetooth sniffer to see what is going on... but did not find one...
Thanks in advance,
Jose
I am running Liquid Smooth 3.2 for months now. I format it regularly just to get a new sense of speed after downloading junk i shouldnt have to begin with. Recently i have been formating to fix my WiFi issue. It seems like when i connect wifi (turn it on) it simply doesnt connect (it doesnt turn from grey to white or blue) it just stays grey. WHen i look at the list of wifi available it says its connected but i receive no data. After a while it seems to syncronize and the wifi works. I used to think if i turn on 4g and wifi together it seems to speed it up. All speculation, the only fact is WiFi isnt working upon engaging it. Reboot fixes it untill i turn wifi off (or it the AP goes unavailable for extended period of time, it doesnt seem associated with turning it off and on.)
Any suggestions? I have tried backdating to .09 radio. It doesnt seem to fix it.
This issue started before rooting the phone. I noticed it while I was away this weekend. I was at a friends place and he lives in an area with no cell coverage, so I switched to Airplane Mode and then turned on WiFi. After a few hours, I noticed that I was getting no notifications from Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, etc. I rebooted the phone... all was well.
Last night, same exact thing happened at home, but before I rebooted the phone, all the notifications started working again. Is this related to the WiFi issues I have been hearing about with this phone? It showed that it was connected the whole time. I have a Linksys E3200 at home... I am unsure what my friend had at his place. This happens with the screen on and when off... so it is not that.
Also after my trip this weekend, my location was not updating correctly with GPS off (and the other two options still on). When it was off, my phone thought I was still in Peoria, IL (I live in Chicago). I would turn GPS on... updated me to Chicago fine (even without a GPS lock). Turn GPS back off.. it threw me back into Peoria. What gives? Again a reboot solved the issue.. but sheesh.
Again, I am just rooted at this point. Still on stock. I am hoping I can find a ROM that will fix these issues.
Really? I am the only person having this issue?
