It seems like LP bogs down SO much after a while.. to the point where everything hangs. I revert to the TouchWiz Launcher and it's like night and day, with the same widgets + feeds and updates.
What gives? Anyone else notice the same?
Yeah I notice it for sure. I haven't noticed it since the lag fix, but it has only been a couple days.
Launcher pro is way quicker than touch wiz for me. Before and after I applied the lag fix. I also try and reset my phone every other day our so.

I did one of the lagfixes but I undid it and decided to do a factory format. I don't notice much difference, except for when LP lags up the whole phone. I've gone back to the TWL and things are snappy again.

I've never seen the need to reset every other day. But I do notice LP seems really fast with transitions.. but there are some bugs here and there like the preview cards getting jumbled together and such.
Uh. use ADW Launcher? no problems with it with lagfix, I don't know why so many users of the Vibrant community dislike ADW Launcher and is mainly biased towards Launcher Pro.
the only thing i liked about ADW was the option to make more icons fit on the screen. other than that i think TWlauncher is smoother and less buggy. plus the multicons app does what i liked from ADW anyway
Lp is the best! I hate that adw replaces the menu> settings with its own preferences....stupid. Plus lp is faster than anything else

I have nothing against ADW, but I'm using LP right now so that's why I posed the question.
I use launcher pro for one reason. I love the calendar widget. I do notice that it gets a little laggy every once and a while and most of the time a reboot takes care of it.

Seems like you have a pretty big grudge against ADW Launcher. Using another launcher would "solve" your problem. What does LP have to offer that is making you stick with LP? Both are great launchers and the winner depends on the users' personality.
@disturk: It replaces the notifications button on the menu. Is notifications on your menu really necessary? Plus. I believe LP also replaces one button with Settings.
@bromat80: There are other alternatives to the widget, and if a launcher is lagging me then to my opinion it wouldn't be worth having if it lags. At least not until the developer fixes the problem. Try CalWidget as a alternative if you were to experiment with another launcher.

I was referring to being on the home screen..stock is menu, bottom right is settings for phone...lp keeps this whereas adw puts adw settings on the bottom right and moves phone settings to the bottom middle...(unless they've changed it..haven't used adw in a month)

I guess what I was getting to is that I like both ADW and Launcher Pro equally and what makes me choose LP is the calendar widget. The lag doesn't bother me. I was just pointing out that I do notice that it does get laggy and normally a reboot takes care of it.
I personally find Launcher Pro more elegant.
No lag that I notice.

Whoa whoa, whats with the attitude bro? if the OP likes a certain product and want to support it, he can do whatever he wants. It sounds like you are the one with the grudge against LP. I personally like LP because it does 3D App Drawer and 5 icons columns on desktop. AND it's fast as **** on my phone.

Yea, launcher pro all the way, my phone used to lag with touch wiz all the time.
LP here. Absolutely no issues at all. Incredible.
Hands down TouchWiz is most definitely the fastest launcher of them all. I see no reason to use third party launcher other than to customize a few things. Does TouchWiz look like the iPhone? Yes! Does the Vibrant overall look like a better version of the iPhone clone? Yes!! lol. Do I love my Vibrant with all of my hear? *$#@ YES!!! but that is besides the point I am trying to get at
Launcher Pro sucks in my opinion, and is much much slower than TW. You can tell by that it takes a few seconds longer to initially load the icons when going into Applications. Transitions just aren't as fast either.
ADW is probably a tad bit faster, but you still can not compare it to TW. I do wish that I had an option to go back and forth between stock and TW. Hopefully that will be made available in 2.2.
I would say stick with TW, make life easy
You can change the speed at which the applications load in the drawer on lp. I don't think anything is farr than instantaneous
I prefer lp because I don't like the side to side scroll in the app tray. I have my speed set higher than the default values for lp and experience no lag.

i reinstalled launcher pro for now, but i found the app that Pirateghost was talking about, i'ma give it a try, thanx to both of yall that helped, hopefully this works

settings>applications>manage applications>launcher pro
clear defaults
And then reboot.

motoblur is not half as bad as 99% of the people who complain about it say it is..
Its much better than most of the custom launchers in just performance alone. Turn on live wallpapers on all other launchers and notice how crappy the performance is on anything but Motoblur..

i havent really noticed that. I'm running launcher pro with the nexus live wallpaper and it's running fine. The thing i didnt like about the moto home launcher is the inability to change the dock icons and that when scrolling thru screens you have to wait a second to get into the app drawer, just little annoying things like that.

That's true, but in all other performance-related issues LauncherPro and ADW perform *MUCH* better than Motoblur. It's quicker in almost every regard...almost instant to the touch. Motoblur is delayed in almost everything you do.
I'm all about making things look good, and motoblur looks like a flaming turd at my front door...

I restored motoblur launcher after instaled gingerblur 1.3, motorblur is way better than the gingerlike launcher IMO
Love the new higher resolution on the 3VO, but one thing I have noticed it seems too tall for only 4 icons top to bottom, seems like it could almost handle 5 rows tall ?
Could custom Rom allow that change ?

Not even a custom rom, Launcher-Pro ADW_Launcher etc has the ability to handle additional icon rows/cols if I remember right.

correct, i love the new sense 3.0,but dumped their home launcher on first day for ADW
i now have 6 rows of icons with the 3D resolution, and 5 columns of icons (compared to the 4row 4col with sense)

effect in what way?
the only thing is, if you choose ADW as your launcher(or probably any other launcher), when you hit the personalize button, it wont do anything. Meaning you cant change the options for lockscreen and stuff.
I dont know how much memory ADW takes up, but I see no ill effect (plus we have more memory than previous evo 4G anyway)
It doesnt slow my phone down at all (had it on evo 4G didnt slow it down either)
HOWEVER, all you have to do is change back to the sense launcher, do your changes, then set ADW back to your standard launcher. Easy
I really suggest you try it if you want to truly customize your homescreen,its literally like about 100more features to ADW than the standard sense,even with it being 3.0
When I had my Evo 4G there was something you could flash on top of a custom ROM to allow 5x4 for sense so I'm sure it'll be possible eventually.
With ADW/AWD ( always get that wrong, sorry) I had my share of problems ranging from FC's (Force Close) every so often restarting the entire launcher.
But my #1 main issue with it happened no matter what ROM i'd be using. The icon bars would randomly disappear and would not re-appear till I reboot the phone. Even when I tried to restore backups of the launcher (build in feature) it wouldnt fix it till I reboot.
Never had that with Launcher Pro, and LP seemed cleaner all in all.
Both are good dont get me wrong, but in my personal experience one certainly was better than the other.

I use LPP and love it, got the 5x4 setup going on. its great.
I agree HTC kinda messed that up. It's okay for most widgets but definitely too much space for apps. And multicon (my saving grace on the EVO) looks messed up...

I put Launcher Pro on my 3VO and I have to say, I love my phone 100 times better. I was seriously not very impressed with this phone, but now that I have more control over everything, I love it. Get it!
I personally like launcher pro but since development has slowed to just about a stop i am using adw. How is go launcher and windows 7 launcher?
Launcher Pro and Beautiful Widgets is my fave combination.
I still prefer this to Sense.
I use Go and Beautiful WIdgets. GO seems to be developing pretty strongly, and it does just about anything I want it to. And it works well in conjunction with the other GO apps like dialer and sms.
ADW here... I've used it on my Dinc and now on my TB... Rock solid.
I've been using ADW lately and I'm very pleased with it.

ADW EX here. I've been glad I switched since the day it came out. Just seems smoother overall than stock ADW. I was an LP user for a while but seemed like it started getting bloated with things I'd never use. It may have gotten better recently as I haven't tried it since EX came out but for me, after using LP, ADW, and ADW EX, my personal choice has been EX and I haven't found a reason to move on.
I prefer LP. It keeps things simple and I can back it up which is convenient when flashing.
lol...I remember when adw and LP first came on the scene - a lot of people loved them for their simplicity - then the feature wars began...

I hate that the HTC mail and HTC messaging icons don't show the counts, at least I couldn't figure out how to do it on launcher pro.
i'm using launcher pro now but I'm probably going back to the windows 7 launcher. It's simplicity is refreshing, the only downside is I don't get to see my p retty wallpapers as much, but I find it more useful

They just released some sort of themeing API so we should see a lot more a lot faster.
I hate they got rid of the dark icons in the default set, they had both white and black and a few weeks back an update removed all the black versions.

I think smoothness, options of dock/screens and app drawer customization are the most important for me. So is displaying counts and hiding the notifications bar.

Anyone running CM7 having issues with ADW Ex going to landscape and then back to portrait? I get a black screen and then FC about 30 seconds later. I'd be using ADW Ex full time if this wasn't an issue. As it is now I'm using LP :-/

Same for me except I prefer Sense over it. If I'm on a vanilla ROM, you can bet I'd be using Launcher Pro and Beautiful Widgets.
I'm using GO Launcher EX (just discovered it this week), I think I'm in love, runs awesome on my CM7 1.2 TBolt, totally customizable, just switched to GO SMS as well from Handcent and am loving it too.
I had been using LPro forever and am glad I decided to try GO.

Just trying out adw ex launcher now y'all got me going over to the market to check out this go launcher...
Probably stick with adw since I just bought 3 themes.

i prefer Launcher Pro because of the menu system at the bottom of the screen. i hate putting shortcuts/widgets on the screen(like to keep it clutter free) so it's nice to that menu at the bottom.
i know that go launcher ex is similiar, but i don't like the 5 screen thing and i don't like those dots it puts in the upper center of the screen indicating which screen you're on.
adw i have never cared for because of it's menu system setup at the bottom.
as for Windows 7 launcher... if that intrigues you why do you have a Thunderbolt?

When i scroll trough home screens it always lags,i only have 6 maps and clock in one screen and twitter in other,but it stills glitches every time i scroll,i am using GO launcher.i have tried many launchers,but i cant find the one that wouldnt lag,is it possible that i have some problems with phone itself or is it just that this model is laggy?

Yes , GO launcher lags for me too. Its really very strange as I didnt have such issues on my old phone (desire). I think its just what you have to live with. Or use any other good launcher like apex or nova.
One thing you can do is to Report GO DEV TEAM to test desire x and optimize the launcher for it, and im pretty sure they'll figure something out.

The thing is that go launcher works the best,other launchers lag even worse...well atleast go launcher looks kinda smooth,but others neither feel or look smooth... :s but ill try to talk with go dev

i would suggest if u really want to make your phone a bit faster go to settings and disable all the stock transition animations though it is not practically visible the scrolling is a lot smoother and in my experience go launcher is quite heavy and its realy absurd people saying that apex or nova lags for them what i found that if u set it to default launcher and give it a minute its snappier then ever apex rocks for me i try all homescreen set ups on apex and nova and never i found a lag
If apex and nova lagging a lot for you, try to limit number of widgets on your screen. I'm using apex and I have no lag at all (only widget I using is uccw clock) rest is icons. Atm I'm using mihome because of kickass lockscreens
