Hi all
I just bought Samsung ace from USA and the model is GT-S5830L
The Samsung came with version 2.2.1 and I have install on him version 2.3.4 from samfirmware.com
The only problem I have is that the GPS doesn’t work I don’t know if its because of the wrong region version or not
I have check the GPS with all kind of applications such as GPS-TEST and GPS-STATUS and it doesn’t work
I didn’t checked the GPS with his current version from the store this was my mistake but now with version 2.3.4 and version 2.2.1 from Europe region the GPS doesn’t work I have installed these version with ODIN
Now I downloads these version from this post :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124006
I download these verion only to check if the worng ROM is the problem with my GPS
Some firmware are:
• Chile - Entel
• Mexico - Telcel
But the files in the RAR are differents from what I fimilar with
Any Idea what to to do ????
The files are
amss
boot.img
csc.rfs
recovery.img
system.rfs
SS_DL.dll
and not the regular file type that I used for the ODIN with the Europe version
10xxxx
Again the only problem is the GPS
Do you have some other problems like wifi errors or screen flashing?
And to flash this rom, you have to select the option One Package Install and put only the cooper file and the .tar (extract the .rar) on Odin.

what i need only one file *.tar and cooper file ?
please advice i have to check if the GPS broken is beacuse of the worng rom

Yes, you need only the cooper file and the .tar, I think you can use the cooper file available on SamFirmware.

Hi everybody.
I am new to android. I have SGS II with:
-PDA: I9100XWKF3
-PHONE: I9100XXKE7
-CSC: I9100XXKF1
STOCK FIRMWARE NOT ROOTED.
I downloaded i9100XXKG1.zip file which contain the following files.
-CODE_I9100XXKG1_CL349526_REV02_user_low_ship.tar
-GT-I9100-CSC-MULTI-OXAKG1.tar
-MODEM_I9100XXKG1_REV_02_CL1034110.tar
-u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit
If I rename this file and place into /sdcard folder is it possible to update my phone to the latest fw or not?

Do NOT do that you have to use odin and there are plenty of guides on the dev section on how to flash.
But a quick recap is install kies and then install odin, download the tar file put the phone into download mode and then ONLY click the pda button and point to the tar file and click start.
I REPEAT DO NOT CLICK ANYTHING ELSE.
Why do you want to flash a leaked non-official release the first thing you do if you're new to Android?
SGS2 is a great phone that gives a great experience out of the box, my suggestion is to update to latest official firmware for your region and then start to learn SGS2 and Android one step at a time.
There are tons of things to learn, it like learning a new language, it takes time. And starting with advanced stuff directly is asking for trouble.
Of course you're free to do as you want, but this is my recommendation.
The first step into the more advanced tweaking is to root the phone but I wouldn't hurry with that either.

I placed the low file in PDA, the modem in phone and csc in csc and then flashed, worked perfectly, that is the proper way to update I believe.... Don't do nothing with the pit file! Delete the pit, pit = danger

So why not follow the instructions from the site you downloaded from ???
PDA low ship tar
Phone Modem
CSC CSC
PIT no
Kernel No
jje
I downloaded it from sam firmware..no info was given regarding this.. anyways thanks
The instructions for flashing firmware downloaded from their site is on the site somewhere. I suggest you search for them & follow them if you want to to avoid potentially bricking your phone.
On samfirmware.com, there's a link at the very top navigation bar for "flash guides". Right next to "flash programs" and "service manuals". I'd start there...

Considering you probably have an I9100G, flashing random stuff will result in a shiny brick. Do more reading before you do something silly.
i have gt 19100 smartphone s2 non rooted i have never rooted it just updated ics a month ago from kies samsung official update and i am not satisfied with that plzzzzzzz help me how to downgrade that ics to 2.3.6 .my phone came with 2.3.3 installed plz help i have downlowded odin 3 and firmware of my country ind from sam mobile and pit files also now tell me what to do how to do plz helpppppppppppppppppppppppppppp
Hi mate this is a frequently asked question here. You need a programme called odin, and to log on to a website called Sam firmware where you can download your GB rom of choice. Read the sticky threads in this forum for further guidance.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Goto SamFirmware.Com and Download Firmware 2.3.6 compatible with your Device..
Open it.
Boot your phone in Download Mode by Vol down + home + power button
Run odin3
If there is 1 file in download package then place it in PDA Section and hit start...
If there are 3 Files then.
Place CSC Named file in CSC Section of Odin
Code Named file in PDA and Modem named file in Phone Section.
Click start
Peace
Hit Thanks & It will Disappear

CSC is included in the cache.img file inside the firmware you have downloaded..
You will need to unpack the img file and copy the entire content of csc.zip to /system folder
sent from here, there, somewhere!!
