Anyone know of a good volume boost app that doesn't require root? I've noticed that the media volume on the Evo speakers isn't that good, and I'd like to find a way to boost it. Nothing on Google and the apps I can find in the market don't look like they'll work.
Thanks all!
I just installed the dsp manager but it had no effect on it. Ggggrrrrrrr....... If you want to give it a go here it is. Maybe you can get it.

There's a library that needs to be added with rom manager for it to work. Which would need root.

it worked great for me
Equalizer works for me. It's in the market. You have to play around with the EQ's a lil to your liking cause it can make the speaker sound distorted.

This request is less about DSP Manager (because I am using Volume+ and it seems just as good) and more about the CyanogenMod Audio Libs...
On my OG Evo, many roms used the Audio Libs and they sounded NICE.. Bass was nice and deep but the higher bass wasn't overbaring, quality really was like a night and day difference.
Now that we have root (I know, no S-OFF and all that stuff) would it be possible to get the Audio Libs into our Evo 3D's? Can they be ADB pushed or put in with root explorer or anything? Absolute best would be if someone could make a batch file (similar to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=1158400 ) that would push them in for us. Even then though, would it need a reboot to take effect and would that ruin our root?
I am sorry if this post seems ignorant or if I posted in the wrong area, but any progress in this would be AWESOME.
THANKS

Right right, I am sure we can get DSP Manager to work, and like I said I am using Volume+ right now which is very similar. But I believe the sound quality is from the actual audio library files in the android system somewhere. I don't fully understand it, I just know that when I was a flashaholic on my evo, some roms had them and some didn't and it was a big difference. I was big on following Virus' roms and he would talk about every now and then forgetting to put them in.. that is why I have deduced that they are the difference makers.
Without those audio libs, the bass boost is more annoying than anything really, with a very "mid range" sounding bass that puts like a "hum" over much of rock music. with those, the bass is clear and deep with everything else coming out clean also.

Regardless of the app, I am just saying that now that we have root (although not permanent) is there a way to push the audio libraries over and have them take effect?
I'm an amatuer device not sure about audio libs

I've tried to search around for this but I can't seem to find it relating to the DNA. When scrolling through the system apps and files I came upon Ringtone Trimmer. After researching some I discovered it's usable on the OneX, bit no mention of it on the DNA forums. It's in there, butt my question is this: How do you access it and/or how can I find it to use it.
You get to it through the htc music app. There's a little sideways menu button, press that.

Ya what he says PLUS it has to be an MP3 not a M4A or any of that stuff. So if your using iTunes you'll have to convert it. Thats all..

So it's in the standard music app on the phone? Or is it a downloadable app from the store? I'm almost 100 percent sure that it's the stock music app. I have a midi project saved as music as an mp3 and I want to make a trimmed ringtone out of it. I do not see the option you guys are talking about. Maybe I'm just stupid or I have made the phone too lean in my debloat ingredients process. Maybe direct me towards a video or link or a screenshot might help but I don't see the option anywhere in that application.

Thanks for the screenshots. Apparently because I chose the more aosp (desense) look to my Viper DNA setup may be the reason it's not there. I have the standard music app but it looks nothing like the picture you have. Mine looks very similar (almost identical) to that of the 4shared music app. Perhaps I will try the sense version of the rom and see if that will help. I realize that this appears very easy to do but I simply don't have the app options you show in the screen shots.
Edit: I decided to reflash the Rom and sure enough the desensing tools had an option to remove HTC music and replace it with aosp and I had obviously selected that option. All is well and my ringtone from my midi project is now created. Thanks for all the help. The screenshot was the kicker bigandrewgold. Thanks.

Do you have some other player? I'm not a fan of Windows software.
I used PowerAmp, and it's good. But, when license expires, I can't found pro version. I download some from internet, but they all works for 10 days.

I can't seem to get DSPManager to not FC no matter how I install it. I've tried flashing as a system app and installing as user, clearing cache/data and with any KK/Sense rom thus far the app always immediately force closes. It worked fine for ICS and JB builds but it seems something going on in KK or Sense is interfering. Has anybody got DSP working on KK/Sense?

I'm aware of that app although I would like to stick to finding a solution to the problem I stated and not simply using a different app.
It has always fc'd on any CM ROM ive tried, its something you've got to accept.
I use Viper's built in sound enhancer. Works flawlessly and better than DSP

I don't think dsp works on HTC phones. I have had it work on nexus devices and moto ones but never on an HTC.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
It usually force closes due to a missing library call in lib audio effects.
Usually stereowide is the one missing....fwiw.
Not really hard to fix.

I tried Viper but none of the settings had any effect on audio, a common issue with DSP as well. I'm gonna fiddle with it a bit more though.

Actually the old v1 of DSP works fine on 4.2.2/Sense 5.0 and earlier when the proper audioeffects text file is flashed to etc. It not working for people through the years has mostly to do with this and DSP's inability to take exclusive priority over the global audio output of any given device. CM are the one's actually maintaining the app, of which there is a 3rd version which doesn't force close in KK/Sense but also won't do anything to the audio effects either. I had this same problem with Viper4Android. It constantly prompts me to install a binary but the settings never change the sound. I don't think it's the audioeffects config file or the libs but some other file such as audiopolicy. If anyone knows what changes are present in KK that differ from JB in terms of how Android and Sense handle audio effects that information would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm...now we're getting somewhere. I have done some audio effect editing myself which is how I got DSP to work from Sense 3.5-5.0 roms. So you are saying "stereowide" causes FC's in KK because the original version of DSP won't even open in KK. I don't recall ever seeing that effect....can you post an example for me to test? Just the audio effect file.

is there anyway to bypass the safe headset. volume.its just too low for when I'm working on equipment.
Try installing viper4android fx and xhifi, it usually boosts how loud it is for me plus I can add a ton of bass in. It requires root. Don,t use then play store version, use the version on the xda thread you should find when you google it.

You installed the driver and configured it? I think xhifi did most of the volume boost, I used a preset I think they posted on the thread of how to configure it. Make sure you check off the master power to be on for the headset section when you are done configuring it.
