[Q] Enable mobile networks settings: 'Select network' - HTC Aria Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi i had an HTC aria with 2.2.2 liberated custom rom and as the title says i want to know if i can do something like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14494826&postcount=24 but in my Aria. I have root permission
Thanks

I'm not sure if there is a way to do it exactly like that post, but you should be able to modify those settings by opening the Dialer and "dialing" *#*#4636#*#*. A menu should pop up immediately after pressing the last *, then click on Phone Information, and scroll down to the drop down box.

yeah i know that, but i really wanna know if i can do that, because i like the way its look my rom, but i think that the only thing missing is that option in mobile networks

Help with APN settings/mms settings how to edit them

How can I change my mms settings. when I open messages and the click settings then click connection settings it shows the settings but will not let me edit them can anyone help with this thank you
I belive there is a way to edit these settings via cdma workshop but i dont know too much about that
I cant get the phone to connect to the work shop
Does anybody know if they have rooted this phone yet I read the forum about it it does seem like they have yet
Root is a work in progress.
What are you messing with your settings for? if your having issues just run *288 and let it do it. if that doesnt work use the RUU Update, and then reprogram your phone and use *288
I cant I have the Eris running on Cricket I have the phone, internet, text and the market running great but would like to have mms
How did you get it running on cricket? Didnt you have to flash stuff for that work, if so please post me links asap. It will inevideably lead to root.

no, as above, edit security settings in epst
uhhh, yoo hooo! guys, the htc based android phones are dirt simple to program for use on another network..
I've had my eris running full on alltel over two months now with the unl. data plan. Never looses 3G, alltels 3G coverage is wicked sweet.
Getting Voice & SMS working:
Get current .PRL file for your network(alltel, sprint, vzw, cricket, etc..), google for it. Mount your phone thru USB, drag the PRL to the root of the SD card.
Unmount
Dial##PRL
Enter SPC code
Select PRL from SD
Restart Phone
Activate phone with your carrier, lie about what phone it is, i told alltel i'm a Samsung Delve, a phone they have.
They'll tell you to *228 it, this will work perfectly after you've programmed the PRL described above.
Hang up with them.
Getting data to work:
Dial ##PST send.
Enter SPC code
Go to security...
Google for those settings for your carrier and enter all that is asked for in that menu screen.
Do nothing else, restart the phone.
Now, setting up MMS on the Eris is a pain, I still can't get it.
When going to Messages, Settings, Connection settings, ... i am not allowed to edit those settings, they're stuck at vzw values.
IF .. and ONLY if I install the "quick settings" app in the market, disable mobile network, THEN go to messages, connection settings, .. i can now edit those values and change them to alltel's mms addresses... go home, them go back into messages, connection settings, all is saved, good. If I go and re-enable mobile network, ... the mms connection settings switch back to vzw... GAHH!!!

It's probably just allowing you to input settings but unable to save them due to lack of permissions. Looks like MMS is screwed until root gets here :\
how do you get web working on crickets network ive change the settings from the security but still no luck.

I am able to use the phone for calls with airtel service provider but not able to edit the settings for internet as it shows only one option i.e t mobile. I am not able to delete it nor i can add the new settings.
Because of this issues there is no internet and my phone looks dull

No. there is no way you can edit it. You have to flash a custom rom to use internet services in your t-mobile hd2.
You can flash any Rom from the forum. i am using ENERGY 21916 rom which is very stable and fast with 2.15 radio.
it is best radio for delhi.
and yea next time post your question in general forum.
yes you should be able to set up data no problem.
the easyway would be to run connectionsetup, which should set it all up for you, BUT don't forget to remove the t mobile connection, otherwise it will stay as the default one and not work.
(or see below, "select networks" to stop it being default)
alternatively, to do it manually go settings menu all settings connections connections
then either "manage existing" and then edit the t mo one to your new settings, or "add new modem" to create one.
when its done, go back to the connections connections screen, go to advanced tab, select networks, and change the dropdowns accordingly.

Havent tried a diff sim card yet, as to network settings I've tried all the different access points to no avail, this is my first rom ever I've installed and am frequently checking the actual development thread. Just a quick note, a freind of mine is running cm07 on his nexus and he too has the same problem, maybe its a carrier issue??
Thanks.
This thread can go to wasteland now, I'm not sure what happened but its working now
Hijacking OP.
If you don't mind, I'll use the thread to follow up on some issues I'm having.
I found 9Lukas5 step-by-step guide for clean install the most helpful. My English is not perfect so it was really appreciated his precise instructions.
I try keep up with the CM7 thread but there's 100s of posts each day. From what I gather, latest version CM7.0.3 with K011 is stable, no WLODs and can now enter deep sleep.
I can't.
I wanted to ask about two items I've seen recommended in the CM7 thread:
- manually select Network Operator
- disable Automatic Time/Date from Operator
Manually Select Network Operator
From a fresh install, the phone boots up and the APN appears to be configured because I get 3G / H right away. Just to follow instructions, I go to
Home -> Settings -> Wireless & Networks Mobile Networks -> Network Operators -> Searching... Pop-Up -> Telcel GSM (that's my carrier).
Whether I click on Select Automatically or click on my Carrier name, I get the same response, "Registered on the Network".
Is this enough? When I click on my carrier, will that count as manual selection? Do I need to do something else or something different?
Disable Automatic Time/Date from Operator
In the same manner, I go to:
Home -> Settings -> Date & Time -> Unselect Automatic.
Should I reboot the phone? Will rebooting cancel the manual selection of my Network Operator?
I'm done too!!!
Just installed K012 (128) and it fixed everything; I'm getting plenty of 128 and lots of deep sleep.
Please note you cannot be charging your device for deep sleep to take place!!!
I just installed K012 so I can't report on crashes, WLOD or FCs, but if I get any I will post again.

Hi
Please check your APN settings. Use your carrier support pages to find the correct mms settings...or you could try to reset the APN settings to default.
Good luck

Ok, I'll give it a shot at doing a quick walkthrough...
Go to "Setting". You'll be looking at "Wireless & Networks" and see "Wifi", "Bluetooth" "Data usage" and finally "More..."
Tap "More..." and choose "Mobile networks". Here you'll see "Access Point Names". Tap there and you'll now presented with your carriers APN's for your on-line and MMS settings. My carrier (Telia in Sweden) reads: online.telia.se and mms.telia.se. You should be looking at something similar with your carrier brands name.
Now it's time to head over to your carriers homepage and search for MMS settings. When you've found them, tap on "your-carriers-name MMS"
Now compare the settings on your phone to the one on your carriers home page and change whatever differs in the present APN settings on your phone and for heavens sake, don't forget to save! :fingers-crossed: You'll be able to save your new settings by tapping the symbol to the left of "Home"-button on your phone.
Now back your way out oh the settings with the arrow key and wait for a brief moment while your phone is connecting with the new settings.
I hope this will take you along the way to a happy MMS-ing
Good luck and be patient

[Q] How to avoid 4G / 3G connection?

Since i got my OG, i always have used 3G / 4G connection
but sometimes i want save some battery and use EDGE or GPRS connection as many people here in Brazil does, but i dunno how!
how to do that?
thanks!
-settings
--wireless and networks
---mobile network
----network mode
-----GSM only
that's it
didn't have this "Network mode" in my phone...
some alternative way to do that?
*#*#4636#*#* in dialer, phone info, set to GSM Only.
Sent from my LG-E970
To get the network mode menu you can edit build.prop if you're rooted.
A tool like "Android Tuner Free" makes it easy to backup your build.prop and change it, if you don't already have a favored method.
The entry to change is "ro.radio.networkmode" and it is probably set to "disable". Set it to "enable", reboot your phone, and you will have the network mode menu available. But, I'm pretty sure changes made in this menu revert upon rebooting (maybe that is what the next setting in there, "ro.radio.topreviousmode" is for - I didn't touch it).
