As the title suggests I just wanted some ideas for my next rom
Is a aosp eclair better because all 2.1 roms I have seen are se firmware mods
Or is aosp froyo better as I have seen zdzihu and achotjan
Plz don't ask for htc sense
Or any other idea kindly post
Please post a nice reason for your choice if possible

Eclair ROMs are compete because we have the Eclair SE drivers. If you are going to make a new ROM, maybe wait for the official 2.3.3 Gingerbread update, and make a complete Gingerbread ROM.

Hey there I'm new to android coming from iOS. Ive been trying new roms but they havent been working that smoothly for me. Wondering if theres a rom that is very close to official 2.1 but rooted
currently running froydvillain 1.5, overclocked to 652mhz (for some reason I remember my unrooted 1.5 my hero came with to be more stable)
BTW what is RUU is there a terms thread for nubs?
RUU is a Rom Update Utility. Its an executable made by HTC to flash new roms for people who don't have root/a recovery image.
As far as stock roms go, it depends which "stock" you want. Froyd is a vanilla 2.2 rom. 2.2 hasn't officially been released for our hero, so its a little bit buggy. Cudos to the developers though, I use froyd as an every day rom, doesn't give me any gip.
Anyway, 2.1 was officially released for us by HTC, and I would heartily recommend vanillaeclair 4 for your vanilla 2.1 needs.
Sense is the HTC GUI for the hero and us "stock" as far as the hero is concerned. Chocolateeclair is made by the same Guy as vanillaeclair, but I dislike sense, so I can't really recommend any good sense roms.

Villain rom 12 if you want a no frills 100% 2.1 rom everything works.
If you want to use 2.2 i am using froydvillain 1.5 all working well but a bit heavy on the battery apart from that working lovely here.
use rcmix, it's the best 2.1 rom imo.

Hello,im new in this forum. My friend to told me to join there is alot of info about x10 here. So I finally rooted my x10 and flashed all the roms. And liked only rendeiro and wolfbreak and rdnaar rom. The reason im posting this is flashing 2.1 roms the same? And what's a good fully functional 2.1 rom? Thanks everyone

use kxhawkins rom. i believe everything of a 2.1 rom is on it except for the stuff that slows it down like timescape and phone carrier crap. it has full functionality
look in the developement section for it of the x10. its the high performance one. i had it a few times and loved it.
i just wanted the gingerbread rom so thats wat i perfer

You can also check Blue Sparks by Malabarth, tried it myself
You may have to upgrade, or down grade your baseband depending on the Modded Rom

what info do you want exactly?
It's a custom 2.3 rom
You need to root your phone, then install xrecovery, then flash the baseband with flashtools & then flash the rom's zip file with xrecovery
If you follow the steps in my first link (the one to Sony) you will be rooted and have xrecovery installed.
Then the fun starts.
The geniuses (geninui?) on here have Custom Roms which you can install through xrecovery.
The rom is basically your operating system. You are most likely on stock SE 2.1 which is OK but any time I have had to go back I ain't stayed long.
I recommend 2.2 its a good way to start and it's solid. Also sync your contacts to gmail.

2.2 roms are all custom as see never released 2.2 for x10.
I suggest you wait and stick with 2.3.
If you can do that, look for wolfs 2.2 ROM or flash a generic stock 2.1

What could be so bad that u need to switch back to 2.1 or 2.2 im curious

I just found (not only on x10 but many other phones) that 2.1 and 2.2, although missing a couple of options, run a lot smoother, not many errors, gingerbread has quite a few errors, although the great rom mods have done a good job of ironing out problems, I suppose its personal taste....
so any good 2.2/2.1 custom roms?
