If I decide the keep the EVO 3D, I'll probably want a spare battery and a charger for the spare battery. I'd consider something like this if it had a spot for a spare battery. I don't want the extended XL batter since I keep my phone in my pants.

Thanks, I was thinking about just getting an OEM battery but what I'm looking for ideally is a single cradle that I can just dock my phone in but also have a spare battery charging in.

I found one at the Kidigi site a few weeks ago. It isn't out yet, but I emailed the company and they say it should be available at the end of July.
I saw another model on eBay and a few other sites, but the spare battery charger holds the battery horizontally, which takes up more space on your desk. It looks like the Kidigi cradle holds the spare battery vertically, saving some real estate.
Apologies for not posting a link to it. I joined a few years ago when I had a problem with a different phone but haven't posted enough to be permitted to post links yet. Anyone interested can find the cradle I'm referring to by searching for the manufacturer's name, Kidigi.
I still wish the official HTC dock with the MHL adapter-compatibility also had a spare battery charger, though.

I plan to disappear into the woods and come back out when I've finished my thesis (more or less). So I'm interested in buying a solar panel to use with my transformer and since people here seem pretty knowledgeable about charging the transformer I thought I would run it by you guys to make sure I do not miss something important.
I've gathered so far that I will need at least an 11v panel.
Also, it seems I need USB 3.0 to charge by USB. Is this correct?
And if I can't get USB 3.0 I will have to modify a 2.0 wire or plug or whatever... I prefer to avoid this
What should I go for in terms og Watts?
Would it be reccommendable to buy a panel with a battery to get a more even current?
Recommandations would be great!

So I'm not really sure if it makes a difference whether you use USB 2.0 or 3.0.
Anyway the specs for your Nomad says that it's 5v for USB output and 12v for DC output so I'm guessing that's why it doesn't work with the transformer.

Solar panels that put out more than 28W (5V, 2A = 10W + 15V, 1.2A = 18W) would be enough, but then you'd likely want to run it through an inverter to get 110v AC, then the ASUS charger.
Until and unless ASUS comes out with a car charger that would work with the dock, running an inverter to generate an AC signal, then running it through the AC adapter will be the way to go.
Figuring in efficiency losses, you'll probably want 50-75W worth of solar panels for this to work. You can also use a 12v battery as a ballast.

You don't need 5V and 12V, only 12V. The Asus charger only puts out 5V for non-transformer devices. Don't introduce all the loss from the 110V converter, just charge a 12V battery with a panel(the Asus will draw 18 watts at full charge), then charge the transformer from the battery. Just get a usb extender, cut it, and hook negative to pin 4 and positive to pin 1. I would recommend a 5 Ohm resistor to limit amperage, but it isn't necessary.
I'd like to hear how it works out.
I was considering putting some flexible solar panels on the back of the transformer. But with the dock, I've got more than enough power for my needs. Plus, the back of the transformer won't get that much sunlight.
I'm now moving on to trying to put solar panels on the back of my cellphone (Huawei U8800). It's a great phone, and the battery lasts all day, so long as I don't play too many games.
One thing you might want to consider is an external battery pack. They are pretty cheap here in China, and have huge batteries in them. They even have some with built in solar panels. I'm sure you could find one that could recharge the Transformer. Then you could have the battery pack in the sun charging via the solar panel, and you sitting in the shade with the transformer. At night plug the battery up to the transformer to let it charge while you sleep. The transformer with dock should have more than enough battery life to last all day.
If I come across any useful information during my research, I'll let you know.

Stuff like that is great for the car, but you're gonna lose SO much efficiency through it, then even more loss from the Asus charger plugged into it. A 15W solar panel should be enough to charge the TF directly. Using an inverter with the asus charger, you'll probably need 50-100W. Just FYI.

Yup, you're right. No go on charging the TF. Like you said, it will be great for charging things in the car. Just not off my 12W solar panel. I think I'm gonna have to upgrade my panel .

The real joy of the TF is that it charges directly from 12 volts, so, assuming you have a 12 volt 12W panel, you should go get a 12 volt battery, 4AH(amp-hour) at least. It will be about the size of an old 6 volt lantern battery. Hook the panel to the battery to charge the battery, hook a female usb port to the battery, and hook the TF directly to the female usb port. You'll probably be able to get through a whole night on a 4AH battery + the TFs battery.

The Asus charger will put out 15V at most, as marked on the charger itself. I don't think I'd use anything higher than 12V into the tablet/dock. You'd probably want to use some kind of voltage regulator to drop the 18V to 12V.
Without knowing the internal workings of the dock/tablet, I can't really comment more than that.

You will need some sort of voltage regulation to maintain 12V. That's pretty much a requirement for any solar charging system. Panels themselves do not usually have regulation, so the output voltage of the panel is a function of the amount of light the panel is receiving.

I've ordered the parts - the panel I mentioned, the Ramsond SunShield 12V 8A Solar Charge Controller Regulator that msticninja suggested and a Super Rechargeable Li-ion Battery, 12V 6800mAh. I ordered the panel and the battery off of sunsky. They seem to have very fair prices.
All the parts came to a total of $164, shipping included. Compared to complete sets with the same specs I'd say that's a really good deal, provided I make it work

Give me a link to that Li-ion battery. If it doesn't have it's own charging circuit, you'll need to get a lipo charger instead of/in addition to the Ramsond regulator. I'll check it out for you.

But it does have a charge finished light, so, if the light stays on when the battery isn't plugged in, you should be okay. If the green light only turns on when a fully charged battery is connected, then you might not be fine. Confirm what you're getting by posting a link, and I'll try to make sure. If it doesn't have it's own charging circuit, the battery will explode in a fireball.
EDIT2: This one has it's own charging circuit, and it sounds like it's what's inside the other one I linked, so you should be okay if it's either of these.

Nope, as discussed before, the TF uses 11-15V to charge, and normal USB chargers/backup batteries only put out 5V.

The one I ordered is the blue one. I can't really confirm with a link since I cannot post external links until 8 posts but there shouldn't be any mistake. And it does say the following about it;

Well that sucks! I just bought a Motorola P893 to have back up for my Razr and was hoping to be able to use it for my Prime as well (when I get it)... Does your charger not come with the appropriate connectors? Mine probably won't work either, and its only like 8,000 mAh anyways, probably not enough for a tablet???
Anything that can plug into a USB port works with it. I've tried it with 4 different phones and an iPad 2. They all work except for the Prime.
I have a few newtrent devices but they won't do anything but a trickle charge when the prime is shutoff, if on it draws more than the newtrent imps can provide (5V).
I don't know of any off the top of my head, but the input the prime is looking for is 15V 1.2Amps, find a battery pack that can provide that and my guess is that it should charge the prime.
Prime needs a USB3 charger, it seems. Who knows if they exist...

Realistically, anything that was designed to charge a cell phone or iPod-sized device won't work well for the TF Prime as it will take too long to recharge your tablet to be really useful.
Also, the Prime's battery is significantly larger than most mobile backup batteries so you won't be able to get a full charge. At best you will be able to recharge your battery to around 25%, but in most cases you will probably get a lot less.

The solar charger I posted has a button for 5V, 9V, 12V, or 16V settings. It will charge the Prime at 12V and 16V.

That depends greatly on your definition of "work."
You can charge the iPad via an iPhone adapter or an external battery designed for use with a phone however the iPad will charge much more slowly. Also, since the size of the iPad's battery exceeds the size of most external batteries they usually won't fully charge an iPad.
By the same token, you can charge the TF Prime via an iPhone adapter or similarly powered external battery. But it will be very slow, almost to the point of uselessness (~2-3% an hour, if you are lucky)
In both cases for most non-standard chargers you will need to have the device turned off for it to charge at all.
That's interesting a solar charger, how long does it take to reach capacity though?
You need 15v to charge normal speed.

This is true, but frankly it looks way too shady for me to be attaching to my TFPrime. I prefer to wait for more commercial products, versus quick Chinese ones.

For $125 you would probably be better off spending $25 more and getting the keyboard dock. It contains a ~6 hour extended battery plus a full keyboard, USB port & SD card slot. It also exactly matches the TF Prime, acts as a screen protector and tablet stand and doesn't add a lot of bulk so it will fit inside most cases/sleeves that can also hold the tablet alone.

The dock works great and I kill the battery in my dock by the end of the day but my tablet battery is still above 80% when i get home if I play games or surf all evening on it it is still not below 25% by the time I am ready to charge it while I sleep. If you kill both batteries in one day then you probably haven't done much of anything else but stare at your tablet.
I second the dock, sometimes I go a few days without charging because the dock so generously gives up it's own life first
I third the dock! Very useful but it can get a little heavy. I was hoping to get an external battery for under $50. Does mAH matter, I seem some big ones with 6600 maH wondering if that would work.

It really doesn't matter which port, I don't believe the DNA uses more than an amp to charge, but you can't damage it by using the 2A port.

use the 1 amp. When using car chargers that have 1 and 2 amp choices, my phones have always charged @ 500mah on the 2 amp side but 1 amp on the 1 amp side. I think its to protect the phone. There are battery apps that will tell you how much charge the phone is getting.

I use the 5600mA version (though only has a charge rate of 500mAh, but the biggest one can even charge a laptop and it goes for less than $45, the smallest one is about the size of two fingers put together and the largest one about the size of a 2nd phone (though probably a bit thicker) and has a 3Ah max charging speed
edit: i was looking at the 10000 mA version and it seems that the astro3E doesn't have the laptop charging, but i found the regular one (astro3) that does have the output for laptops, but is also selling for $60.
What about MintyBoost? I'm planning to make a few. The main feature is that it works with standard AA batteries (or AAA or whatever gives it from 1.5 to 4.5 volts or so, rechargeable or not it's not picky about source) and you can hot-swap them in the field with fresh or even cannibalized ones (you can easily "increase" the amount of power you carry with you without buying another expensive charger by just having a stash of cheap rechargeable AA).
Anyone tried? Any bad things about it?
I just got the EasyAcc 12000mAh one from Amazon for $40 and I highly recommend it. 12,000 mAh so roughly 5 full charges for the DNA. I'd post a link but I'm new.
I've got the Motorola P4000 from VZW. It's nearly perfect. The form factor is exactly what I want...very very thin. It also has a built in MicroUSB cable, which tucks nicely into the lip around the unit. Both of these are features I wanted. It also accepts a USB cable to use a separate cable if you prefer, but the integrated cable is huge to me. It's recognized as a 1A AC charger and charges fast.
There's just one fairly big problem though. If I'm in certain areas, presumably where signal is a bit iffy, it'll kill my signal when I plug it in with the integrated cable. Interestingly it seems not to do that if I use a separate cable -- even if the phone and the charger are in the exact same spot as when I used the integrated cable. So it seems like there may be some kind of interference that isn't being shielded with the built in cable. It's a big issue, but I haven't yet found another device with the form factor, integrated cable, and 1A charging. And in most places, it doesn't happen. I just have to keep an eye on it if I'm using it and expecting a call.

Its arriving tomorrow so I will follow up with a review and video if anyone wants it.
Has anyone used this with the Nexus 6 yet or have any experience using it? I doubt it will fully charge the Nexus because its only 4800mAh and it will likely lose 15-20% of that due to heat. I'll let everyone know around how much it can charge before draining completely and its charge time (for the battery pack). Is anyone else interested in these batteries? As a commerce student convenience is key and while I do carry my stock Moto charger with me I don't like using cables. I never kill my phone during the day, but if it's a long day (0700-1900) at school then I probably could kill the battery. I usually take my phone off the charger at 0500-0600 and use/abuse it all day with WiFi hotspots, streaming music etc... so this charger/battery seems to fit my needs. I ordered the black model and I can compare it to my old Anker battery pack.

Update:
I received my replacement from Amazon and it charges perfectly fine. My original one looked fairly beaten up (the box was damaged and dirty) so it could have been kept in poor conditions resulting in the battery becoming defective. My replacement seems to be a lot better and I am very happy with it. I will now begin to test the efficiency of the battery pack and post the results here when I am done. Check back for pictures and updates!
I have now been using the battery for 5 days and I graphed the usage along with the batteries efficiency. It's really nowhere near as efficient as I had hoped, but then again qi charging is still in its infancy.
Here is how I found the efficiency: [(total % of phone in decimal form charged * 3320mAh)/(5000mAh the batteries capacity)]*100%
Here is an example: [(0.50*3320)/(5000)]*100% =32.2% efficiency
I also placed a scale of my usage of the phone while it was qi charging. I made a scale from 1 (no usage) to 10(Steaming 4k videos, super GPS powering everything... you get my point usage) vs. the number of days that I tested it.
overall I am still happy with the battery even though I expected it to be a little more efficient while charging via qi.
I'd like to know if qi also works without wall plug-in so in standalone mode and how fast is the charge. Thanks!

It says that it works without a wall outlet hence the qi battery pack. I will let you know how long the charge time is once I get it tomorrow.
I like the idea, but might get the charger pad they also have. It would work with the power bank I already have and a recent review commented that it works well with a case on the phone.

This guy used the qi pad and glued it in his car dock. Seems to work well. Its not the power pack one though.
So I got the battery yesterday and made a short video review. I also took some pictures of the pack. The bad news is once the battery pack drained completely it would not charge I ordered another one and I'm sending my original one back today. My replacement will be here Saturday so I can't comment on much else other than my initial use. It's unfortunate that it won't charge (I tried the original cable and AC adapter that came with it and 3-4 more cables and adapters without any luck. I also tried 7 wall outlets to make sure...) I love the battery and the qi is great but I must have received a defective pack. I'm willing to give it one more chance before moving onto a different brand. As of right now I would still recommend it because it foes work well and I may have just gotten the short end of the stick so to speak.
I will keep everyone updated with what happens and how the new one works. I will also try to find more ways to make it charge tonight and research more into the issue.

The boot animation is form Dirty Unicorn. I had the ROM for a few days and I always save the boot animations because I like to change it up. Some of my kernel settings have been causing random reboots lately but I think I fixed it by switching kernels.
The battery is practical for me when in in a class and it's on my desk so that's my main reason for buying it. (Let's not forget I also bought it to annoy the iPhone people who can't wirelessly charge without a dumb case) /s but its funny when they ask what in doing.

No it doesn't support QC 2.0 and as of right now there is only 1 QC 2.0 battery pack. Its made by APE and you have to order it from overseas because its not available to buy aside from dealer samples.
