Having serious problems with my phone such as:
Always on driving mode even if I shut it off it's back up again 2 minutes.
constant overheating even if nothing is open.
constant crashes even if just a phone call.
I have tried:
Emergency firmware recovery then update.
Factory Reset.
Would loading a custom rom make any difference? I went to the manufacturer today, they said they could send it off for "10-14 working days" and either fix the problem or replace it, but this is no good for me as I go on holiday tomorrow and want to take some pictures etc. Would loading a new custom rom / OCing the processor make any difference?

I have my htc hd2 (t8585) unlocked version from cyprus. The phone is having many freezing issues. What can i do??
I am using official ROM (ELL)
I have also posted a video on youtube:
youtube.com/watch?v=y6Lyspkn_Gc
Can you be more specific on the freezing .. do you phone freezes at the lock screen? or while working with an application?
Its good to know what handling you were doing in what application when it causes to freeze.
ATM there is a problem with twitter.com accounts. It also causes freezes on the phone
No, my phone won't freeze if i am using it! It will freeze only if i leave it at stand by mode for longer that approx. 30 minutes - 1 hour.
Additionally sometimes it starts from the first soft reset, but some other times it takes much longer to switch on!
Hi. I got this problem for quite sometime and am so used to taking out and putting back and taking out and putting back the batt.
But now I have another prob: my ringtone suddenly went soft and I now have to keep myself alert all the time to see if there's any incoming call or SMS.
I would like to do a hard reset but the question is: will it set my phone back to the stock ROM or still retain the updated version - 1.66.707.1?
Thanks in advance.
I've searched high and low, and can't seem to find anyone with this same issue caused by flight mode. I'm having an issue with TWLauncher on my SGS2 running 4.0.3 (Optus official update in Australia).
I've had this rom installed since its release in early April 2012, and have only been having issues with the occasional MAPServiceSamsung crashing with the SMS app.
This arvo I flew interstate, and hence turned the phone into flight mode, and then turned it off. When I turned it back on in the plane, the phone refused to open into the home screen, as TWLauncher kept crashing.
Initially I thought it may have been a flight mode issue, and somehow I struck some luck and managed to turn off flight mode so I had HSPDA connectivity again. But this made no difference.
I did a soft reset, wiped the cache, took the battery out for 30mins, and ended up having to do a factory reset to get use of my phone again.
Being interstate I have a work laptop, which doesn't allow me to use Odin and hence flash any different firmwares on.
I'm wondering if anyone else has experience this, and/or whether anyone has any suggestions on how to fix/make sure it doesn't happen again? Could the TWLauncher error be linked to flight mode in some weird way (I only ask as the phone had never done this previously).
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

I am also running on the Australian stock version (XWLP8), but not having this issue.
Can you reproduce the issue?
Or is it now fixed after wiping cache partition and doing a factory reset?
If the issue is still existing, you can try to flash another firmware (first another kernel, and only if that does not help another ROM) ... or you should use an alternative launcher.
I will try and replicate it again in my flight home on Wednesday. Whilst I am away from home I will limp the phone around as stock as I can.
Thanks for the reply.
Ah! I had the same issue and it drove me crazy cos it would take ages for the phone to restore itself..
I was using a stock Indian ROM and I guess my issue too was repeated after I switched on the flight mode.. Tried all the resets and other workarounds but to no luck..
Just installed a custom ROM now and everything's back to normal..
You can google for some workaround on TwLauncher, but for me none worked..
OK so i have an I9300. for about a year now i think, maybe more.
And up until lately it worked relatively fine, but lately It started to gradually become unbearably crashy and annoying.
the camera very often crashes, leaving me with an "Unable to connect to camera" message, and only after a reboot does the camera work again. it used to happen scarcely, but now i can barely take 2-4 pictures before having to reboot.
Talking about rebooting, Not only do i get random reboots all the time, but after every reboot (not just the random ones) I get a UI crash after UI crash and the only way to fix it is by locking the screen and waiting,
Usage is extremely slow, to the point where launching whatsapp takes up to 5 seconds.
I amusing the cm11 nightlies but i get this with every ROM, I've tried updating cm11 and still nothing. wiping cache and data-also nothing.
the only escape now is full SD card format, but I'm scared to do that getting the same errors after it.
Could you help me figure out what's wrong with my phone? it's the only one i have and it's unusable.
I'm scared it's a hardware problem - that i cannot fix. but the signs are all there: the errors persist through formats (i formatted once about two months ago to no avail) and wipes and reflashes.
If you need any additional details about my system that i forgot to mention, ask me obviously!
I'm guessing you have an i9300 and running cm11? That's what's in you're post so I'll go with that...cm11 is not stable enough atm. That will Explain the reboots from time to time. Best thing for you to do at this time is as always...go back to stock with Odin. Test it. Same reboots?? Back up and format you're int SD and flash again stock firmware with Odin. Still rebooting?? Possible hardware issue.
Hi all
I tried going to a Lollipop ROM on my S2 but I only managed to change the recovery, the ROM didn't work (boot loop) so I used ODIN to revert back to the stock ROM (i9100XWLSW) wiped both the data and dalvik cache. I did also have Kingroot installed during all this and I installed it again after flashing the stock ROM but I've since removed that too with another write of the stock ROM via ODIN.
The problem I'm having now is Whatsapp and other apps won't actually do anything if the device is asleep. The WiFi appears to be connected, logo is present at the top if i wake the device but it takes about 10 - 30 seconds of being inside an app (such as Whatsapp) for anything to happen. I'm not sure if this is a WiFi issue or some sort of app issue across the board? I woke up today at 9am checked my phone there was nothing on it. It was only at 10:30am when I went to send a Whatsapp message to someone and opened the app manually that i had messages come in from 8am that morning. I also use Whatsapp Web and some times it won't connect to the phone via WiFi even if the device is awake. I have to reboot and try again. Although if it's connected via Whatsapp Web and asleep messages come in no problem at all both on the PC and the phone??!!!!
It's doing it constantly now, at the start it was touch and go but now it's all the time i have to constantly check the app for messages to come in. This happens on other apps too.
What's going on? Have i damaged my device some how from the flashing process? I'm pretty familiar with ODIN as I used to flash my old Galaxy Apollo all the time but never had this problem.
I was going to get a new phone but I actually really like my S2 and it actually keeps up with most of the phones in my price range and in some cases (camera, AMOLED screen, storage, sometimes RAM) it is better than the new stuff!
Any idea's please?
Never mind went and got myself a nice Note 3 instead...
Thanks guys.
Hey there Guys,
so, I am desperate enough with this issue, that I'd actually pay the one who fixes it for me.
If you need specific infos, let me know what and where to find. Cuz I'm hella stupid with this stuff.
Bought a Samsung S9+ on Amazon. (should work just fine)
Model Number: SM-G965F/DS
Here we go, (try to remember as much as possible, as its 1 year ago)
since I can't live without root, I did do so by the magisk method. I think it didn't work so well, cuz there were system issues. Couldn't boot anymore. Thought I "bricked" it.
I managed to factory reset and boot it again, with an operating system I downloaded from google results, of which I thought was the correct one for this model. (problem might be here? Wrong OS? If so, where and what exactly do I have to download?) Its kinda bs to me, that there are different versions depending on the country etc.
Lets continue:
Managed to successfully root it then. Everything worked fine. Samsung s9+ rooted.
After a short while, I encountered the issue I am facing since then.
Problem:
My Samsung is rebooting every day. Suddenly turns black, reboot with Samsung Logo. Fun fact, all tabs are still opened in the background afterwards. (no real reboot?)
Happens when:
- time is not fixed. Anytime possible.
- even when I'm not using it. (but mostly)
- Even while video recording. Not app specific. (I always keep only one app open btw.)
- sometimes when it happens while I use Instagram, I'm logged out of Instagram afterwards. (not sure if it happened with Facebook, but might) (I use Insta a lot, Facebook almost never)
Solutions I tried.
- Empty cache. (I think I tried it the correct way.)
- Factory reset
Not confident in the app issue belief, that I'd uninstall every single app for 2 days each.
Assumption:
I don't feel/think its one app. If so, maybe Instagram? But shouldn't be the case though. As said, I always close all apps after I put down my phone.
Maybe its the OS? What do i know..I'm a scrub.
Help highly appreciated. The reboots are driving me crazy and are tremendously inconvenient sometimes.

Reasons to Cause Android Phones Keep Restarting
1. Corrupted data in memory.
2. Incompatible third-party apps.
3. Outdated cached data.
4. Hardware issue.
Boot Android into Safe Mode
Safe Mode is a good place to help you to track down the causes of problems occurring on your Android phone. Once you boot your phone into safe mode, all third-party apps installed on your device will be got rid of. In this mode, check if your phone still keeps restarting without any reason. In case the problem disappears, then a third party app is the main cause of the problem. All you need is to find out and delete it from your phone.

So I assume if the problem still persists in safe mode, its a firmware issue?
I'll try the wiped cache now until it reboots again. If so, then safe mode.
safe mode (no apps) just seems hard as I use my phone for work and the issue appears randomly within 48 hours..
--- Instead of safe mode, would be the same if I just uninstall for example a few apps for a certain time?
--- I read about a master reset. Wouldnt the simpliest and 100% working method be to just reset the phone with a new firmware? Which I can download where?
