I bought a 32 gig Kingston technologies sd card still in original package. Worked for 4 days then could only be read as blank sd card. Called manufacturer, gave the numbers off card and was told out was a fake.
got it straight from a verizon store, I could hardly believe it would be a fake, if anything I'll return it
nvm, it actually reads 30 gb, I was looking at my internal storage the whole time in media link doh!
got this card for a steal too at $50.
when you said fake I was like, hmm explains the price

yea I got real lucky, kinda feel bad when I found out how much they really cost.
FYI...
I was told by an HTC Rep that you must use a Class 4 memory card with the EVO 3D or else it will NOT perform properly! The 3D must be able to read/write to the uasd card fast enough. This will cause lock ups and reboots if you go ahead and just stick your old class 2 memory card in the phone! This especially happens if you try to take 3D pictures or 3D videos with a class 2 memory card inserted (I have actually seen this for myself...no bueno).

I'm not discounting this, but from a developer standpoint, it doesn't make much sense. Just because a write is taking a few ms longer, shouldn't cause errors so fatal the entire platform crashes. Then again, with HTC coding, I wouldn't be surprised. And 3D pictures aren't anything more than two JPGs saved side-by-side, nothing special or worthy of overwhelming your datapipe any more so than copying an MP3 file.
I have my old EVO card in it and everything runs perfectly.
This is total BS. Don't believe everything you hear

OK right...but yet they are informing people about this in HTC's events that have happened for the 3D and sensation? Now why would HTC just go ahead and say that?
I was actually wondering about this too. Initially I thought the really slow image caching was due to my class 2 sd card on my evo that causes scrolling lag in apps with pictures. I.e, market, trillian, twitter, but i guess that's a evo gingerbread issue I believe.
But what about the devices that still lock and crash using the stock sd card the e3d came with? Or is it safe to say that those users who complain of the lockups and what not are using aftermarket sd cards?

I wasn't, bone stock, crashed/locked up even without an SD card in it
I'm running stock, with the original micro SD card, and I've only crashed once. But it was a weird crash where the screen wasn't working but the phone apparently was, because I could access it through bluetooth. I'm going to test it hard over the next couple weeks to make sure it doesn't continue to happen.
I'm using a 32gb class 2 that i had in my evo 4G and i haven't had any issues at all.

I have a class 2 32GB card in mine and have had no problems at all. I even watched the first 25 minutes of Green Hornet (which I copied over from the OEM card).
My guess is that HTC is dispensing foolproof info that will minimize any support calls. Similar to how the FDA recommends meat cooking times far above what's necessary for food safety to minimize lawsuits from fools getting sick and dying.
I hadn't even noticed the phone came with a class 4. Seems strange that it would cause instability to run it with anything slower.
anyone know the max size of card the 3vo can take?
I'm gonna have to call BS! I'm running a C10 16GB card in my 3VO and I haven't had one reboot or lock up yet.
need some input...i want a s4 so i started lookin around and saw that vzw will eventually offer a 32gb.
Should i wait for it or go ahead and get the 16?
Do you think itll be $250 like AT&T or $300?
i read that 45% of the 16gb already used, id that a prob for ppl? (im gonns root, so im assuming thatll help the bloat)
thx in advance
Well if you're worried about storage lets break this down.
16 GB on the standard. about 1.2 GB of that is going to be eaten up by the file system. The Rom itself uses around 4 or something so I think completely stock (and bloated) its something like 7 GB used, 7.5 GB Free
Now, I loaded every app that I use on a daily basis, and a few games with wifi download and I haven't even broken the 6 GB mark.
There's an SD card slot inside, so you can add up to a 64GB SD card.
All your pictures, music and most applications will be saved there once you insert it (normally).
So I ask you, is the extra 16GB worth the wait (and money)? Honestly I don't think that you'd ever run out of room but if you're worried then you can probably wait.
Verizon was doing the 16 GB iPhone 5 at 199 ($200.00) and the 32GB at $300.00 so I would expect to see the same thing with the S4

If you really need the storage than wait for the 64 or get a 64gb microsd card. Otherwise, just get a 32gb sd card for the 16gb model, it's cheaper and available now.
thx for the quick replies

didnt know the 64gb cards had dropped to $50...i got a 32gb but imma check out those 64gb more often now for deals/sales...$100 for 15gb no way, but $50 more and a few weeks to a month i was considering it
If the 32GB was available on launch day, I probably would have purchased that one. However, I don't really need the 32GB. I loaded all of the apps I have used in the past, and it is less than 2GB worth. I don't really download or play games outside of emulators. All of the roms are stored on the SD card. Most of my memory usage comes from movies, which my 64GB SD card holds just fine. Most pictures you take can be set to store on the SD card, but a few camera modes don't allow it. You can always move the files to the SD card after they have been captured to free up that space again. I think when you first turn on the phone, you have around 9GB of free space from the original 16GB. I still have about 7.5GB free and I don't think I will be digging much deeper into that.

The Google Edition is confirmed to only work on AT&T and T-Mobile. The Developer Edition isn't worth it as current firmware GS4s already have bootloader workarounds.

There's little reason to wait for one with more storage. Expandable memory is so cheap these days, it doesn't make sense. Plus, with the amount of things you can store in the cloud, physical storage simply isn't worth the time or money
Hey everyone,
I just picked up the HTC One last week and was wondering whether anyone knew how much storage was taken up with the stock software/apps that it comes pre-installed with. I have the 32gb phone and used the transfer tool to transfer text messages, pictures/videos and contacts from my HTC MyTouch 4g Slide. I transferred about 12 gb of info from my old phone to the One, but now I'm only left with about 13 gb of storage! I checked my storage values and it says I have about 6 gb of "other". Could that be all the pre-installed bloatware that came with the phone? Is there a way to know?
I checked my storage before doing anything to the phone and it looked like about 6.6 gb of space was taken.

25 Gb is a bit low, but I'm using TMO. I hear that ATT puts a lot more bloatware on their ROMs. I believe I had about 27 Gb when I first turned on my phone.
How is 25GB a "bit low"?
6GB for the ROM, plus the 25GB = 31GB.. plus the 1GB variance of actual available storage sounds perfectly normal to me. Remember, you don't actually get the stated GB of storage, even on micro SD cards, etc.
There's always some partitioned for the file storage system (and no I don't mean the OS, I mean the "SD" file system)

It is a bit low because I had more than that when I first powered up my phone.
EDIT: IIRC. I have no particular intention of doing a reset to see what it comes out to.
Really? Lol. Where did you buy your phone from? Because if it's T-Mobile, then you had 26GB max.

And 26 is not larger than 25? Hence, "a bit small".
Yes, but previously you said you believed you had 27. You did not.
The OP's concern was whether or not his was normal. Your response infers his available storage it is not normal, when it is.

Sorry, can't remember if I had 27 or 26, as I think I mentioned. What I said was his 25 was a bit low, but maybe he is on ATT. 25 is a bit lower than 26, or whatever the TMO has. I'm not going to reset mine to find out, it really isn't that important.
I don't recall saying his was abnormally low, just that he might be on a bloatware provider that took up extra space.
I think he had the same 26GB, he's just generalizing the amount of data he transferred
i.e. "I transferred 12 GB" really means something like 12.46 GB leaving him with 13.54GB. Add in the 6-point-something OS and you get ~32GB.
Anyway, OP, the answer is, it's the OS (which includes bloatware) your phone is completely normal.

HTC is close to launching the successor flagship model to the HTC One. HTC has not revealed the launch date. Nokia has adduced evidence which suggests that the launch date is in the first quarter of 2014 and possibly as early as February 2014. HTC has not contradicted this.

I'm really hoping they come to their senses with that. (no pun intended) The one was the first upgrade I've skipped thanks to lack of a sd card, and while the evo lte is still a solid device I'm sure not going to wait another year for a new evo.

This looks like a very promising upgrade for me. But I really am not a fan of phones without SD cards these days...
SD cards are old hat. Don't need them. they are slower and have more issues then on board storage. Just make the new devices with 32gigs minimum of on board storage and all is well.
Nothing more irritating then SDcard 0 and SDcard 1. How many times has this driven good Dev's batty? Ask the sense 5 rom porters.
Not too mention the only reason the EVO LTE doesn't already have a multirom port is because the sd card issue. Years ago I would have told you I needed an SD card slot. Truth is I buy an sd card and throw it in and forget about it. Hvent removed it since the EVO lTE was new and it might have well just been on board storage. I have a Nexus 7 and love the fact that it doesn't have an SD card confusing everything. Love not having to remember which drive the rom is on when flashing in recovery. "now lets see...did that download go to sd card0 "downloads" folder or sd card 1 "downloads" folder?" Yeah enough of that trash!
SD cards are for OG nerds, you fill up a 32 gig phone and I say go buy a real video camera there Spielberg.

That's just it, you put it in and forget it. And in the process, you buy 64GB of storage for $40, instead of $300 (or, not at any price, for most phones). I use pretty much all of my storage on videos and other stuff. That doesn't need to be fast.

Still, I'd love to see them keep it looking pretty damn close to the One. One is the sexiest phone I've ever seen, but I had to skip it due to no upgrade, so anything else made won't look as goof, unless nearly identical.

Some people like to have most of their music with them (me included), and NOT stream from a cloud with ok reception and eat up battery life. Maybe a 128 gb phone would be acceptable, 16 and 32 are not enough, and haven't been for yrs. Better graphical games are bigger nowadays as well. And I have tons of games, and all emulators on mine. Seriously, stop bashing on people who like options. U want to be ruled by Nazis, than get an iPhone! Sorry, but that's my 2 cents
