[Q] How to enable Chinese Keyboard Input on Tab 10.1 USA? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Just got my tab 10.1 but found that it has Chinese language display, Chinese voice input but no Chinese keyboard input. It does however have Korean keyboard input so it doesn't seem like a eastern language entering thing. My wife really needs chinese text input. What can I do? I spoke with Samsung tech support but nothing so far. I don't want to have to return this but my guess is that Asus/Acer tabs will have chinese input.
Any suggestions?
Pedroquien?

Just go get one of those Chinese input apps on the market such as MultiLing Keyboard. That's the one I use. Not bad. However, I haven't been able to find one with handwriting input that works on Honeycomb.

How well does this one work on Honeycomb with keyboard input?

go to swype.com
They have a new keyboard out for use with honeycomb .. the chinese language is included

i have tried several Chinese Keyboard Input on Android Tablet, the best IME is "Penpower for Tablet" from Market, but it cost USD 9.99. Another good choice is "sogouinput for android pad", you can find it from some Chinese website.

Swype v3.0 BETA have the Chinese language option and free to join now.
Maybe u can join.....

Any way to write chinese on Vibrant Eng OS?

I'm looking for an input method which allows me to write (handwriting style) chinese into my Vibrant (Canada/US model, not asian model).
My Vibrant only has skyme and samsung keyboard, no chinese input in it.
Or is there a good app which does chinese handwriting? I do not want one for pinyin (since I don't know pinyin).

I don't know if it will help, but you could try touchpal

Google pinyin input method, free on the market. I don't know of a good one that lets you hand write them. Hanzai is the only one I know and it blows.
There are a couple of apps on Appbrain/Market you may want to check, but not sure how good they are:
HanWriting IME (beta)
HKIME

Farsi (persian) keyboard

I need a farsi keyboard that connects the letters can anyone help none of the keyboards in the market work correct thanks i need one of these bad
anyone i have multiling keyboard and emailed the dev he said use non latin settings but still cant get the words to connect
I think connecting letters depends on your rom. At very first check out that your browser shows you Persian sites like BBC, gooya, etc. correctly or not, then try MultiLing or SlideIt Keyboard. Its available in market.

[Q] input language

From what I understood back before ICS there was no way to add another input language dictionary to an already compiled version of android on a phone. So most keyboards with multilingual support have separate language packs which can be downloaded optionally. However, this means you had to choose to use a keyboard other than the built in Android keyboard.
Now that ICS is out I flashed it on my Nexus S and noticed there are add-on dictionaries in the Language & input setting in Android Keyboard under "Keyboard & Input Methods" (click the 3 sliders to your right) and then towards the bottom under "Text correction" clicking on add-on dictionaries brings up a page with all available. Some are installed and some can be installed. Unfortunately none with the language I want.
So My question is, how do I add another add-on dictionary and has this issue been fixed in the new Android ICS 4.0?
Here is some additional info I found over the months of FroYo and GB input language dictionary issue:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1027207
Here is the exact keyboard but with some additional language packs which, unlike Google's, can be added later:

Anyone? Bump...
Anyone? Bueller?

This is very interesting for me too. I don't see Norwegian in the list, but I'm hoping once the Galaxy Nexus is released in Norway, the add-on dictionary will pop up in that list
I have a UK Galaxy Nexus, but this would also be interesting for everyone on custom roms who would like to use the standard keyboard and who are not writing in english.
+1 for this message.
Portuguese appears on the list, but there's no dictionary available for download.
+1 for this. I have the same problem on my Galaxy Nexus. There is a refresh button on the dictionary list so maybe Google will eventually add it but nothing so far.
Wait. So Android 4.0, the newest bestest Android version ever...
Is just for English users. Seriously?
I just thought/assumed it was a shortcoming in the current experimental builds I was running. This makes me seriously reconsider putting money into the Galaxy Nexus.

NO.
Currently the system KEYBOARD have: english, Cestina, Nederlands, Francais, Deutsch, Italiano, Russian and Espanol.
and we're awaiting more to come as it checks online for more dictionaries downloads.
But is it going to be possible to set the phone language to English, but set the language for spelling correction to Dutch? I know you can set the keyboard language to Dutch and install the Dutch dictionary but that only show correction suggestions in the bar above the keys and not if you touch the word. So now every Dutch word I type gets underlined even though I've set the keyboard language to Dutch. It doesn't do that if I set the system language to Dutch.

+1 I'd really like to know how to do it too
4.0.3 is supposed to be the "baseline" release of ICS, according to JBQ from Google.
The source is now available and so is some unofficial builds.
Has anyone checked them out to see if they include anything new in this regard?

Running aosp 41 which is great but nothing more other than what was already mentioned in add-on dictionaries. I assume it could be included in the ROM when compiling bu tthe developer has not answered my question on this yet. You could probably just compile the keyboard apk and replace the default. I know this was possible on GB because CyanogenMod 7 initially had about 100 dictionaries for the HeroC but sometime down the road it was cut out from the build to save space.
Is there any new news of how to add dictionary to Android ICS??
Bump.
Anyone solved this?
I've been trying to solve this weird problem since I started using android.. Not that i really miss the feature, but just because I can't stand it not being solved.
I use a USA (Verizon) droid 3 in the Netherlands. I used morelocale2 to set it to country: the Netherlands and language: English because by default I can only choose English and Spanish. With morelocale it works fine.
When I press the mic key in my homescreen, it uses dutch voice recognition (which works flawlessly btw). But when I want to use this voice recognition in any other app, it says "voice dictation does not support current language". When I change the input language under multi-touch keyboard settings to English, it will English voice.
I don't understand why it says it doesn't support it!! It DOES, as I can use it in the homescreen without any problems!
Thanks
This has not been fixed in Jelly Bean either.
Text correction is just available in a few, select languages. Availability of languages doesn't seem very improved since ICS, but the list has gotten a little longer.
It seems absurd though, that we should not be able to add our own dictionaries.

But other phones in my country that are "native" European phones can use voice dictation in all apps.
For me it doesn't work, even though it works in my home screen. There must be something I can change..
Can't load English UK dictionary
I have an excellent 5.7" MT6589 device known as STAR or BLUEBO B6000. I can set the system language to English UK and select the additional English UK dictionary and it says it's downloading but it never seems to load and the keyboard spell checker thinks that every word is wrong. This seems to be an issue with a few of the available ROMs, mostly based on 4.1.1. Any suggestions.

[Q] Japanese keybored

Hello every one i am new to this section just recently traded my xperia x10 for a new s3 yay!!
Any way i am used to having 2 key bored sets i realise this is easily done however my standard UK Vodafone s3 does not have a Japanese key bored available is it possible to install one or some thing any advice would be great
I don't want to dive straight in to rooting and flashing this phone just yet but if any one knows of a stock ROM that has a nice key bored with Japanese and English supported that would be great
I did try searching but i could not find any related topics so please any advice would be great.
Thank you for all your advice in advance and i look forwarded to joining this new area.
Andy
Why your keys are bored? Nothing on tv or what?
Any way if you're looking for a Japanese keyboard try go keyboard, it's free.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Just search play store for "japanese keyboard" there are a few, I have used easy Japanese keyboard before to play around with.
Edit: you do need to know hiragana and katakana at least to use it, it's not like the MS IME on windows, just thought I would mention that.

I think the best keyboard might be multiling keyboard. You may have a try . It has lots of language inside

Thanks for the advice but i really like the Samsung keyboard so i was really hoping i could add the language to that.
also apologizes for the key bored bit I blame spell checker.
i will download one unless any one knows of a ROM that has one in the Samsung bit or a way to add a language i asume it must be possible as the phone is sold in japan.
Thanks for all your advice
I use the official Google Japanese IME, it works well. Othewise, Simeji Keyboard works good aswell.
Thank you very one for your help
I have settled on the official IME one looks ok but i am sad Samsung don't support Japanese but they do every other language

Yeah, no Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Persian...
But they have a lot of other languages. The Samsung IME is not bad though.
There is a Japanese language set available for the native Swype keyboard in the S3.
You just have to download it in the settings menu.
the thread is five months old, c'mon

[REQUEST] Korean for HTC One keyboard

Is there anyways to add korean to the HTC keyboard?
I looked in languages on the keyboard and korean wasn't one of the options.
The look and feel of the keyboard is great but if there isnt korean I cant use it.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Google korean keyboard
Hi, I guess you're Korean because you're looking for Korean keyboard right? I'm also Korean but I thought I better leave my answer in English.
Anyways, I guess Google Korean Keyboard is the only option we got here. I purchased S4 because of that language issue but I can't resist htc zoe's features so I'm going to swap my S4 with htc one.

I was trying to find that too. So I got Kii keyboard and downloaded the Korean keyboard. The Kii Keys are surprisingly easy to use.
Oddly enough, there is a system language option for Korean, but no matching Korean keyboard option.

Really? I couldn't see any Korean option from System Language.
Are you using htc One? then what country are you at?
Im in the USA.
When you first start or after a factory reset you can choose Korea for the language but the keyboard is non existance.
what are they thinking...
the HTC keyboard is really nice though
think ill send them a lil email.
Ok I got a response from them and this is what they say:
Dear danny chun,
Thank you for contacting HTC Technical Support, Danny.
In this specific case as your HTC One does not have this option (Due to different version of keyboard), I would suggest you to install a third-party application to use it for Korean language.
There are many apps (some of them are for free) that you can check at:
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=korean+keyboard&c=apps
As these are third-party applications, HTC does not support or warranty any of them, and its implementation is at your discretion. I will be looking forward to your response if further assistance is required.
As always, we are here to answer any technical questions or concerns you may have between 8am to 1am, 7 days a week for your convenience, or by phone at 1-866-449-8358.
Thank you for contacting HTC and have a great day.
Let me know if I have successfully answered your question, please click here to complete this.

So there is no way it seem... T.T
it's so frustrating.. even if you download third party apps for this phone, you can't even select it as a choice for keyboard.
Even if you click the (on) position for the third party keyboard there is no way to actually use the keyboard.
This brings you back to selecting "keyboard options" in HTC Sense Input which does absolutely nothing...
Anyone find a fix or way around this??

Have you tried Google's Korean IME? https://play.google.com/store/apps/...29nbGUuYW5kcm9pZC5pbnB1dG1ldGhvZC5rb3JlYW4iXQ..
(edit: I see a link was provided to the play store previously, with Google's IME being the first option on that page)
I will make a Korean HTC Sense based Keyboard unless someone from South Korea has the korean HTC One M9 and would care to share the APK
