Everytime I flash a new ROM and setup my google account it automatically restores 19 apps and something that disables my google navigation. I have tried going into privacy setting and uncheck backup assistant before I log in but it still for some reason backed up that data and screwed up my nav. Any one know how to get rid of backup adsistant?

flash new rom, boot phone, before signing in to google, if your phone has file manager on it, go into system/apps and rename backup assistant to .bak....then you can sign into google and not have anything go through BA
Thanks I will try that
I _think_ that's handled in the google account settings not backup assistant. I don't know exactly the setting to change, but I get around it by setting up google account, not checking "backup my device data with google" and then if i go into the market and see it downloading apps i simply reboot phone before it finishes. It only does it the first time on the device for me. Since making a conscientious effort to remove the backup checkmark mine hasn't been doing it.

This.
also yo can go into settings>privacy and unchecked backup which should clear your existing Google backup.
I did all those unchecking steps but for some reason it would continue to load some apps. Changing the name of the backup assistant app in root explorer did the trick. Thanks

The proper way is before you flash the zip, go in, system -> app -> delete GoogleBackupTransport.apk and recompile.

I'm getting force closes from the apps that google is restoring on first boot. how do i disable this automatic app installation?
Uncheck "Automatic restore" and "Back up my settings" under Settings>Privacy. Also, when you flash a new ROM and go through the setup portion, you'll get a check box that comes up that asks you about this. Make sure you uncheck it as well. It took a flash or two to make this go away, but as long as you do this as part of your setup you won't see it the next time you flash.
Easy way, don't enter google info during setup. When your ready, go to accounts and sync, set it up, uncheck restore apps.

+1 if you skip entering in your gmail info @ boot they won't load...then what I do afterwards I go to the market to download mybackup pro and restore everything that way... Sure, it makes you puffing your Google info to use the market but it shouldn't just start downloading when you do that...

I backed up everything to the free version of 'My Backup' and transferred the files to my desktop PC. I've done a factory reset of the phone and want to restore my files. Google Play won't let me me reinstall 'My Backup', says it's installed, but since the factory reset, it's obviously not and isn't in 'manage applications'. How on earth do I reinstall 'My Backup' in order to restore the backups?
wat r u using for backup, and did u sign in while u installd new rom

I backed up my phone with this https://play.google.com/store/apps/...DEsImNvbS5yZXJ3YXJlLmFuZHJvaWQuTXlCYWNrdXAiXQ..
Then factory reset the phone. ICS was installed few days ago and is still on ICS after the factory reset, which is fine by me. After the phone had rebooted, I signed into gmail and it's restored my contacts and calendar events to my phone, so that bit is fine. At the moment, I can buy and install the paid version of 'My Backup' and that would work, but I just installed the free version last night on a 30 day free trial. I've cleared data in my 'market' app, in the hop it would clear google play and let me reinstall, but it still says installed.
Well, it seems to be sorting itself out now, but I'm a little confused what happened here. I rebooted the phone just now, and then google play changed from 'installed' to 'install'. But, underneath that it says
'you don't have any devices', even when I'm connected by USB. If I click on install, a message says “You haven’t accessed the Google Play Store app on your device with this email account." and these possible reasons:
https://support.google.com/googleplay/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1141080
I'm signed in with my gmail account though. I don't have a google play store app on my phone, just the market app and a google app.
So anyway, the phone was asking me if I wanted to use tw launcher or launcher pro, so I selected launcher pro, my wallpaper returns and my desired dock settings. So I suppose google must have backed up more than I realised prior to the reset. And now, all my apps are there including 'My Backup', lol. But the phone isn't completely restored the way it should be. So I'm currently using 'My Backup' backup files to hopefully restore it completely and get it looking exactly the way it was.
Go into the market app on your phone and it will update to the play store on its own. Also install your app from the phone not the website since you have to use the phone before the website for the website to know about the phone.
Hello bought S3 from Three and when i flash stock room it always reinstalls these apps: Facebook, BBC iPlayer, Twitter, and 1 other cant remember. I know that google din't backup to my account, that setting is disabled. but when i flashed CM9 it din't install any apps, that happens only from Stock Room's. So it must keep them some where in device storage as a backup, hm i'm confused
If you put your Google account details in during the initial setup, play store will reinstall your apps.
Skip the initial setup and then add your Google account later. That way the apps won't download automatically.

Actually the setup wizard asks you if you:
1) Want to allow google to restore your previous settings and
2) want to allow google to backup your settings from now on.
Both on the same screen. I turn these off as google backup wastes valuable batteryl
Thats the thing it reinstalls these apps before the setup wizzard

But when installing CM9 rom all ok no updates. so something with Stock Rom. Maybe in couple of days or next week i will Flash another rom maybe i can get some videos. I also tried in the backup setting to tick and untick "Back up my data" then i'm getting a message "Stop backing up ... and delete all copies from Google Servers?" but still nothing stil the same.
Also i'm not sure if this is related but also on SD card getting these 2 files: efsbackup.tar.gz and efsdev-mmcblk0p3.img.gz
No seriously WTF just installed omega 9 same thing happen, before the setup wizard screen, it's installing apps Three, Facebook, Twitter, Smart Care, BBC iPlayer.
Ok using Root explorer, i found a folder "preload" and it has all the files includes so will delete and report back when i install new rom, does it restore again (from some where)
**** sake... just installed MIUI rom same thing.... what the hell samsung did....
So it was early alright. I wanted to make a Tasker profile in which it reboots every morning at 7 AM. Now what I did was create a new profile and select the time. However, stupid mistake as it was: I selected to reboot From 7 AM, but didn't define a Until time. You are free to facepalm at this point in time.
To put it bluntly: My phone reboots the second it is booted. Every time.
Now, what I have tried to make it stop:
Go into tasker, deselect the profile (Didn't work)
Go into tasker, delete the profile (Didn't work. It said it couldn't write to the SD card at that point)
Go into tasker, turn tasker off completely (Didn't work)
Go into recovery, delete the whole Tasker folder -thinking it would contain the profiles- (Didn't work)
Any way to delete that specific profile, or Tasker as a whole?
Thanks in advance!
I'm not sure how much time you got before boot and reboot. But if you have time to delete the profile / folder, you can uninstall Tasker right?
Anyways, it will be there in your play store account. You can install it without paying again.
Reboot to twrp recovery and use the file manager to delete the tasker apk from the data folder. I assume you have twrp as cwm doesn't have this feature.
As soon as it boots up try to uninstall tasker.
Rename the thread to user error, tasker is far from stupid

Go to play store on your laptop, orders and settings, find tasker and press the delete button and it will uninstall.
Or search tasker in play store (make sure you are logged into your account!) And delete it from there. Nothing to do with your phone. As soon as it boots up it will uninstall tasker
Hey guys,
I'm on latest MIUI 11.0.8.0 Global Stable, bootloader unlocked, rooted, and with TWRP. I debloated using XiaomiADBFastbootTools, but then went a little overboard and removed all "the crap" using SD Maid Pro's App Control. I made sure I searched on google before removing anything. I've even removed the Battery Saver app.
But now after doing this, the problem is my notifications are not coming. It's as if the phone kills all apps in the background. Like I'll open WhatsApp and all the messages will load at once. Same with Hangouts, Gmail, etc.
I downloaded the current rom again by going into Settings > About Phone > System Update > Download latest package. It downloaded the 2gb rom and booted into TWRP and flashed. I again rooted, installed Magisk, etc, but this is not fixing it.
What should I do? I even cleared Cache/Dalvik Cache and that didn't fix it.
Please help
Change battery optimization settings
Hello,
Open your app settings and set battery restrictions settings to no restrictions.
For example, you wanna do it with whatsapp:
1. Tap and hold whatsapp icon.
2. Select app info.
3. Select battery optimization/restrictions.
4. Change to No restrictions from MIUI battery saver.
5. Move one step back again and turn on Auto start option.
I hope this will solve your issue.
this happens when I restore with migrate, it is something related to interaction between apps and google play services as i recall.
for the apps like WhatsApp, gmail.... and g pl services, try to clear storage of the apps then sign in again, then go to twrp and clear caches, hope these steps solve your problem
I tried all of the above, and I'm still facing issues. Something interesting happened. I have the Outlook app installed, and there is an option of "Test push notifications" in Troubleshooting. I tried it and it gave me the message "Timed out waiting for a notification. Make sure you have enabled notifications for Outlook in the Android settings."
Another issue happened with the Warframe Android app, where it was not able to enable push notifications.
Now I am 100% certain I have removed/deleted an essential process using the SD Maid Appcontrol (mentioned above).

I don't remember what processes I deleted. They all seemed "crap".
Is there any way I can reinstall the entire ROM, reset all the inner settings, but still keep data?
If not, I guess I'll start taking backup coz I just lost a job because I didn't read the email on time -_-

Thanx. Installing Migrate.
BTW, another weird thing. I don't get notifications that there are updates available for my apps in play store. I manually opened my Play Store, clicked My Apps, and it showed 15 of my apps had updates available. I'm really getting pissed off now -_-
I fixed it I took backup of the important apps with Migrate and then wiped everything, even the internal, and then using TWRP, I installed the latest Global Stable (V11.0.9.0.QEJMIXM) recovery rom and then rooted and installed Magisk and restored the backup with Migrate. I even debloated again but this time using XiaomiADBFastbootTools 7.0.
This fixed all the problems I was facing, and everything is working perfectly fine.
Thank you so much guys, for all the help. Really appreciate it
