[Q] Does your phone have the CRT screen-off bug? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So many users including me have been experiencing issues with the CRT screen off animation. The animation plays but it gets horribly pixelated and glitched making it look very ugly.
The bug is very weird since I'm using bmarko's MIUI ROM and yesterday the bug had vanished but today it's back again without any apparent reason.
So I was wondering how many of us have this bug and if anyone has been looking for a solution?

Here's a solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17355937&postcount=60
Worked on my Exynos 5.5 ROM also.

I get this bug rarely on CM7. Rebooting the phone will return it to normal and I can go for weeks without seeing the distorted animations.

miss post...

[Q] CRT Screen Off Corruption...

Has anyone managed to solve the corruption issue on the CRT screen off animation? The annoying thing is that it is pretty much a toss of a coin as to whether it will do it or not -- sometimes mine works fine and other times it's corrupted.
I'm running VillainRom 1.1 and I have the latest version of Chainfire3D installed.
I find when I play the game X Construction I get the glitchy CRT screen out problem. a reboot is needed to go back to normal. X Construction also FC if I try to play it again after awhile of inactivity.

Black screen after locking occasionally

I've had this problem on my GSII (SGH-i777) since playing around with ICS roms, in both AOKP and CMD.
What happens is, after locking it, or a program is supposed to wake it from a blank screen, nothing happens when pressing the power button. The phone is still on and the buttons on the bottom still light up and I can feel vibrations and sounds, but I cannot get the screen to come back on without rebooting.
I'm not sure what causes this and it seems to feel semi random, but I suspect it may be connected to the locking animation in some way introduced in ICS (the emulation of turning off a CRT monitor).
I'm wondering if anyone else has run into this problem and knows a good fix to avoid it (other than going back to stock firmware).
What app are you using that is supposed to wake your phone? Just my opinion but it sounds like an issue with the app.
PS. Crt off animation was introduced well before ics.

Try turning off CRT in system setting / ROM Control / General UI / uncheck CRT off animation. I have it off and never have a problem in AOKP
This guy probably didn't wipe everything before posting. Yes this includes your data.

Screen problem after updated to I9300XXDLIB via OTA

I have an issue after the update. On random moments the screen rotates by itself despite the phone being in portrait position it rotates to landscape for a second and returns to portrait. It's irritating. Anyone has the same problem?
If this happens when an app supports landscape it stays on landscape, when not - like home screen it just kind of flickers to landscape and back.
I tried turning auto-rotate off - does not help. I calibrated the sensor - does not help. Scanned for viruses - none found.
First flash any previous fw and check if problem persists.
Sent from an electronic device.
I'll wait with flashing back and forth until someone may know what is the deal with this.
Dzięki
Did a factory reset. It helped. Screen flickers no more.
I have the exact same problem! Auto-rotate is off and running in portrait mode.
It started about two weeks ago, but I ignored it because I thought flashing a new rom would fix it. It didn't.
Before I was running Xliterom (ICS) but yesterday I flashed Vanilla Rootbox (JB).. the problem was still there, and I obviously wiped data/cache/dalvik etc. So then I decided to try Foxhound and the problem is still there. Can anybody help me figure this out? Hardware problem..? Could it be some app causing this?
It just happens at random times, in random apps. Even at homescreen sometimes.

[Q] Rooted i9300 keeps crashing... sort of.

It intermittently crashes, and has become a lot more frequent over the last few days.
However when it crashes, the lights of the touchkeys at the bottom still light up with I touch the screen. If there's some kind of animation on the screen, it will keep moving (eg downloading animation). However it doesn't respond to anything I do and I have to restart.
I was running CyanogenMod 10.1, changed to SuperNexus 2.0 to try and resolve issue but it hasn't.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Charlie.
Flash Stock Rom and do Full Wipe Then Try Again

[Q] I9300 (Intl.) Graphics bug (CM 10.1.3 stable)

Hi, recently i faced with weird graphics problem - when UI loading there is two screens and they in pink/purple colors. It seems like GPU problem but recovery and native boot screen (When Samsung galaxy s3 text) all is good. But after beginning of CM loading and further there is two same load images in two top quarters of the screen, other two quarters in bottom is black. And such strange behavior continues even when phone fully loaded graphics UI.
Anyone faced this Issue? How to fix that?
PS: Touchpad is working even on black empty bottom half of the screen
PPS: I've wiped data and all is going fine. But reason of this bug remains unclear. Question is closed
