I was just poking around and realized I am running 2.3.4 and Im pretty sure the last Market update we got was 2.3.6 on the OG EVO. Can anyone else confirm if their marketis not up to date as well? I also tried all the regular tricks to make it update and got squat
That's the 1st thing I noticed when I was using the phone. With CM7, I had market: 2.3.6, and with the 3D the version I have is: 2.3.4. I went into applications settings to see if I cleared the data it would automatically update after accepting the EULA, I have done that before, but the option to clear data is grayed out and clearing the cache didn't help either. I wonder why we're not getting the latest version of Market. Who else has this issue?
What's the difference?
Is not having the market from 2.3.4 to 2.3.6 an issue?
6>4, that's the difference! I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the actual app, or just the device being new, but the Market itself does not "support" the E3D on the developer side, something that some developers on the Unity forums pointed out:
http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/94...ation-Battleheart-Trial-Extreme-and-Samurai-2
"Sorry to hijack this thread, but it doesn't seem possible to locate Evo3D devices in the market back end?"
"Got the same problem, we had to block it on our Android games so far."

Im wondering if this is why certain apps are not showing. Thats the difference. Plus Im sure there were bugs in 2.3.4 hence the update
Certain apps are not showing because developers can target specific devices not to support now, rather than random hardware specs like it used to be. If the app is not showing up, then the developer selected it as a device that is not supported.

Using bionix. Why is it that on some rom installs of the SAME rom it will show everything in the market, and other time it will not? When i first installed bionix i THOUGHT i had no problem viewing what i should be able to see. My example is gonna be Mega Jump, it downloaded through market and installed fine. Used a couple other roms, came back to bionix, now Mega Jump does not show up. My fingerprint is from the stock eclair, and i changed it to stock froyo, not that it was working with either one anyways to see if maybe it was only showing me 2.1 apps. Everything in the build.prop looks good so not sure where to go from here!
open titanium backup
look for Market
click it and wipe cache/data
still in TB, press menu > More > market doctor
let it fix any issues
go to the market and accept
go to my apps...
good?
Thanks for the quick reply!! I forgot all about seeing that option in titanium backup. Though it did link up alot of apps that i have gotten from other places, i dont think it fixed my main problem. My "control" Mega Jump still does not show up in my installed apps or even in a market search.
Should not help, but can't hurt...
Settings > Applications > All > Market (clear data/cache).
reboot
open Market, accept.. good?
I actually did that in conjunction with your previous directions! Did it again by itself and still no luck. This is not that big of a deal but i do feel like i could miss out on great apps that i may never hear/know about unless i saw them in the market.
Well, I was going to see if you could see/install it from the web market (http://market.android.com/) but it appears to be down for me... could be work pc.
I know quadarant has an enterprise and something "else" edition other than standard, are those in the market also? Cause nothing shows up for me besides standard. Thats one i been wondering about in general

Its your work pc but i am trying my android browser now...
When i do a search, it just opens up the actual market app and gives me the same skewed results UGH
You know....
Have you thought that this may be one of the malware apps google removed from the market this weekend?
"Mega Jump" does not show any results for me also. Who was the developer? Have ALL of their apps been pulled?

Not sure who the developer is but it's a huge/popular game. It's in the top 5 (at least it used to be) games for the IOS platform, and it now has a android version. So it's definitely not malware or anything. When i brought this phone home last week and wiped stock and put bionix on, it was in the market. Now that i have put a few other roms on, odin'd back, and put the setup EXACTLY how it was before, my market is not showing all apps But i do see things like adobe flash player, which means that i AM seeing copy-protected **** right? Maybe it's just this one app?
I dont think anyone ever answered my question about quadrant either...i know there is a standard, enterprise, and something else version. Are all three supposed to be in the market? Only standard shows up for me. I was actually interested in buying the paid version but there is no way to do it within the app so i just figured it SHOULD be on the market???
Alright... I'm apparently having the same issues then. I know there was an update to the market recently, but now you have me scratching my head. I do not have Mega Jump, and I only have Quadrant Std.

Any idea if the other two versions of quadarant are being offered on the market?
This may be straying off topic here, but from what i have read...the market "fingerprint" from build.prop is ONLY used to verify you have a supposed "real stock" rom and not a custom one? Or is it actually used for more than that, and the fact that our fingerprints are still on 2.1 (why is that when 2.2 exists for these devices, why wouldn't we use the newest?)...maybe thats why some things are not showing...
I called two of my friends one with a nexus one, one with the g2, both have megajump in there market.
Hey, whoever has the new market. Can you see the movie tab on the main screen? I'm running cm7.1 and can't see it.

Installed it last night without issue so not sure why your having issues. I didn't do anything special didn't force stop the app or clear data. I'm using cm7.

For me, just some of my apps show up under "My Apps". Most don't, and it changes at times. Like in the morning I may see 11 and in the night I may see 24 (although there are way more than that downloaded and installed).
Even after 2 days I only see my paid apps and I have close to 140 on my phone and at least 5 of them I installed after the market update and they aren't showing either.
Edit
When I search and find any of the apps that I have installed they show as being installed on the market link but just not showing up under my apps

For those of you experiencing bugs, check to see which version of the Market you have. The first leaked version was 3.0.26 but there is a slightly newer version 3.0.27 available here:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7620746/com.android.vending-27.apk
I don't know if they fixed anything significant between these versions but it's worth trying it.

Thanks for the post just checked and I have 3.0.27 installed already so for me something else is wrong.

Market 3.0.27 is absolutely horrid. I switched back to the previous version but today I was forced to update. No way to revert.
1) It's ugly.
2) Reviews of apps are displaying out of order. We have reviews from 2010 being displayed at the top of the list, and recent reviews of the latest version nowhere to be found. There is no way to see how people are responding to a newly released version; meanwhile at the top of the list we have these outdated reviews complaining about issues that were already resolved.
3) Whenever updates for apps are released, the update notification displays, but there is no way of actually downloading the new version. Only "Open" and "Uninstall" are shown; it usually isn't until several hours later when we are actually given the option to download the new app.

That's the version I have and it still has the problem of not showing all of "My Apps". The only thing it fixed was the displaying of unsupported apps (e.g Flash Player 10.3, etc...).

just got the new market and after it updated i'm not getting any internet connections from the market or from browsing with the browser. i can browse the market but i can't download any app.
i uninstalled the new update and had to restart the phone to get everything back to normal, but after exiting the market and going back in, it's updated again.
any of you guys get this?
The data problem is a known issue. Never heard of it re-installing itself though.
anything that i can do to get data connection back?
are you on froyo (4.1.83), updated via OTA to gingerbread, or installed gingerbread manually via unlocking your bootloader?
If you are on radio .30, try downgrading to .15. I am currently on .30 but i think that radio is causing issues.
I fix it by enabling Airplane mode and then disabling it. It resets the radio and the downloads continue. Garbage, but whatever.
The new market is def the culprit for crappy network connection! Someone else posted about this, and how to fix and it's absolutely solved my issues! The solution? Go into SETTINGS, APPLICATIONS, ALL, click on MARKET and then "uninstall upgrade". It reverts back to older market style, but alleviates all the network connection problems.

i'm on official OTA update gingerbread. didn't root.
except by uninstalling the update, the update will continue to install once you exit the old market.
i guess it's either something that either moto has to fix or google themselves. this is ridiculous.
moto is pushing the new market to all devices now,so if you revert,it trys to reupdate
Sucks knowing that it still does this on official 2.3.4 and with official market update. I love the market look but can't use it.

Guys, I'm trying to help out my dad. He has an Atrix, stock unrooted and locked. He updated to 2.3.4 last week. When he installed the new market, he says it signed him out of Google Talk and other apps, and he starts getting lots and lots of Force Closes. I had him "uninstall updates" to revert and the problems went away. Then he tried again and the same issues happened. He can uninstall updates again I guess, but eventually he's going to need the new market, right? Anyone else have this problem?
looks like the new market is causing network connection problems. not sure if there is a cure for this yet. either the new gingerbread ota is causing issues or the new market is causing the issues.
hopefully we get an update from moto or google updates the market with some bug fixes.
Yeah really not impressed with the market... im sure the bugs will get fixed soon though. It has potential.

Yeah I just had my dad test it on WiFi and the problem disappeared. Thanks for the info.
i've noticed that once the phone goes to sleep everything is fine. apps that were selected that failed to download will download while the phone is asleep.
just wish either moto or google would have tested out the new market a bit better.
I would try to find a program that can "freeze" the market updater. You can do it with TItanium Backup but you need to be rooted. I think it will only updat via WiFi so I downloaded everything I needed, then froze the updater and never had an issue. The new market is a pain in the rom.

1) This is not helpful after several hours and two pages of activity.
2) The only other thread with "Market" in the title on the first three pages of the general forum or the Q&A forum is one [Q] thread about how to keep the old market, and it's a) not really the same topic as this thread, and b) newer than this thread.
So.... yeah. Cheers to you too.
Reset via airplane mode works for me
Like "ecapox" on page 1 said, just reset the radio put putting phone in airplane mode and then out.
Interestingly, you only need to do it once. After that, the data connection is still good even with reboot.
Enjoy.
How do you get the new market?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I'm surprised to see I am the only person I have seen with this issue; either that or I'm looking in the wrong places. About a week or so ago, my android market was updated to the newest version, ever since then it has been a nightmare. apps that I have been using for over a year now say there not compatible, when I know for a fact they are. I recently flashed the latest CM7 nightly and when I brought the market back up, some of my apps said they were already installed when they in fact were not, however there was no way to override this so I just seemed to be sol.
The final straw was this; I wanted to install "multiling keyboard", so I went to the market and there was no download button to be found. So I went to the market on my PC and found that it listed my EVO and my modded HD2, it said the app was compatible with both handsets believe it or not. However it said the the app was already installed on my EVO, which at the time it was not. I searched for hours and found no way around this. So I tried a different Google account, thinking maybe it was linked with that account. I then searched for the app again, and believe it or not, It then told me that the app was not compatible, log back into the other account, and the app is listed as compatible but also listed as already installed with no way to override.
So now I find the only way to install certain apps is to uninstall the market updates so it goes back to the old market, then I can download whatever I want no questions asked. However its only temporary because within 15min it will automatically update itself again.
Get titanium, freeze market updater. Had the same issue
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Ok I froze the market updater, and then downgraded the market app from 3.0.27 to 2.3.6. It seems to be working, I'll post back if I have any issues.
However even though this is a fine workaround for now, does anyone know of a way to just fix the issue? obviously we all cant just stay at an older version of the market forever.
Google has been rubbing me the wrong way for about a year now, but this has really got my blood boiling. I don't need someone telling me what they think is already on my phone what whats not. I also don't need someone telling me whats compatible and whats not. I can fully understand licensing restrictions, don't like 'em, but i get it. but as for these new checks they implemented, there needs to be a bypass feature. Either have a "I am not an idiot" setting in your account, or just a button that says "I understand the risk, Install anyway". But this is ridiculous, something has to be done. I have already sent Google a letter, doubt anyone will read it, but i sent it.
I would also love for a solution to this... not a reversion...
Anybody out there have any clue where to start? I have been searching high and low and cant find much of anything.
ITS THE LCD DENSITIES! lol. Do you change your lcd density to? Because when I change mine back the market works fine
I never thought of that, but yes I do change my LCD density, I have it set to 200 instead of 240. That explains the incompatible issue. I'm still sol though, I'm not going to change my build.prop every time I want to use the market. Also I'm still having issues with it saying that apps are already installed on my phone when they are not.
Thankfully ugothakd's suggestion is working great for now. I hope we can get this figured out. If not its just going to end up being one of those things we will have to wait forever for Google to fix.
android market compatability issues
Thank you ugothakd! I change my density from 200 to 240. Now I have access to google maps and youtube. Really sucks though I like my density set to 200. I am surprised that people are not having more problems with this dumb market.
I don't mean to bring this back from the dead. But has there been any word on this issue? I'm still stuck at an old version of the market. I've tried updating and every time I still have the same issues. Its all over my screen density, if I change it from 200 to 240 the market works fine.
I have the same issue my self i have a htc desire and now with new market to apps that are missing
if i click on link in google to point to market for app all i get is this app ain't compatible with your device when i know for fact that it do
im starting to get pissed off with it as i used the new market before it was released over here in uk and now after i update my cm rom this is all i get or the app don't show in first place
google really need to add an option to disable this feature ie under options for people who know the risks of trying to run apps that may not be intended for the device as i personally have found nearly all apps work on my phone rarely come across any that don't even all the old apps tend to work if anything this new feature is a pain in the rear so so annoyed at this
P.s screen density has nothing to do with it with me i found new market added a new device to my list yet it's the same phone i leave my screen at 240 its default hope this gets sorted soon
Sorry to bring up an old thread but has anyone resolved the issue. I love my LCD density at 180 and setting it back to 240 just to install an application really irks me.
Has anybody else had trouble with the Photon being incompatible with a lot of apps from the market?
Specifically, the market is showing the "Sprinkle" game as incompatible even though it wants a Tegra processor and that is what we have.
If anybody has had this problem have they managed to find a solution to allow us to install these apps?
Thanks,
Koriel
I have run into this with one app. The market says it is compatible with the ogEVO but not the Photon. I'm sure it would probably run just fine on it but can't download to find out. Must be something the developer does when posting the app to the Market?
The app might have been compiled to use Sprint's "Evo" SDK to interact with the front camera, Wimax, etc. I'm pretty sure that the "Evo" and "Epic" SDKs became moot around the time the Epic (finally) got 2.2, and Android itself acquired phone-neutral ways to deal with secondary radios and extra cameras. AFAIK, the only phone-specific APIs left for Sprint phones are Kyocera's (for functions specific to dual screen use) and the Evo3D's (for functions specific to 3D).
I haven't had that problem in general, and specifically I have Sprinkle installed on my Photon right now. So, doesn't seem to be a general problem, and I have no idea why a specific Photon wouldn't be able to install a specific app.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
Did you modify the build.prop?
When I look up Sprinkle in the market I get
"This app is compatible with some of your devices.
Photon"
That's a possibility. Does anybody have a default build.prop from a "post-update" Photon that they could upload? Ideally, one where you have managed to get "Sprinkle" to download and play
Finally solved this, I had changed the LCD density from 200 to 240. Changed it back again, rebooted and no difference.
Finally I conceded and performed a hard reset, when the phone came back again I could download "Sprinkle" at last!

You do not have to do a hard reset. Only have to clear the Market app data/cache under Manage Applications.
Had the same problem and resolved by resetting to 240, rebooting, and clearing market app.
