[Q] Viewing 3D videos on PC - HTC EVO 3D

This answer must be here somewhere and please trust me that I have spent an hour looking and can't find it.
How do I view 3D videos shot on the Evo 3D on my Windows 7 PC? They now just appear with the side by side configuration.
Thank you.

Do you have a 3D monitor?

I was thinking about it and did a little looking but didn't find the answer that I was looking for - but think it is out there.
A non 3d device - ie monitor, TV, print would have to be converted to the red/cyan format and then using the 3d glasses would be able to view it. Need to find an application that can take the side by side and convert it to the old school format.

I wasn't clear...
I don't expect to SEE it in 3D. I just want to see it without the double screen.
I thought there must be a software converter out there.
Thanks.

Avatars

So wonder who's going to be using 3D pictures as avatars, or if it's possible to, do our avatars on xda have a size limit that would prevent us from that. I just think it would be neat to see that on our screens, lol.

Aren't the 3D images .mpo format? Does XDA's server even support mpo formats?
EDIT: "Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 80 by 80 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller). "
This probably means no, and 3D wouldn't look very 3D in an 80 pixel dimension.

What would be the point if it won't look 3D to anyone that is viewing it? It will look 2d to everyone.

Yes it would look 2D to everyone, except to those who are viewing xda from their evo 3D right.

I'd imagine MPO files are larger because it's a mixture of two separate pictures put together. My XDA app shortens Avatar pictures to I believe even 20x20 (maybe smaller), so 3D avatars may be possible, but even if they were, it'd be near impossible to see or make out that they're 3D.
MPO is not a supported web format so the browser would not display it.

Well first 3d only works when in landscape I believe. Also, I do not believe it can be mixed. Either the whole screen will be 3d on and the whole picture needs to be using the 3d aspect or it won't work. I do not believe you can view a 3d picture on a full 2d page when the screen is in full qhd.
Someone correct me if I am wrong.

yeah, if 3D is on, half the resolution goes to one eye and half to the other
therefore if viewing a web page which was 2D but the screen had 3D turned on (won't happen, but we're talking theory here) then the same image would be sent to each eye, making the page you're viewing just 480x540 (horiz x vert)
Yeah I don't see 3D avatars in the near future but I think a lot of people are underestimating the variety of applications, consumer and commercial, for 3D content. I think this phone is going to friggin rock.

It's only a matter of time, and developers will do awesome things with this phone.

so for that they'd have to develop a 3D web browser that uses non-standard images (jps or mpo at the moment) that the user would browse at half the resolution of the screen.
Sounds like a winner

So to do awesome things in developing, they'd have to develop a 3D browser, lol, at least quote the right post first, I can understand your response to my OP, but not so much to just what development they may come out with as I was speaking about in that last posting.

this thread is about Avatars in a browser and you state in said thread it's only a matter of time before developers do something awesome with the phone, apologies for jumping to conclusions
perhaps you can have a 3d sig?
have to admit thats a good idea for the 3d forums.

[Q] Viewing 3d photos in PC

Quick question for those who have already got the 3D:
Is it possible to view 3D photos taken using the phone in a non-3D enabled desktop/laptop, say with the help of passive (red/blue) glasses? If possible, have you tried it? How is the image quality?
TIA.
No sir....

I read somewhere that it is possible. Using the latest Nvidia driver, 3d glasses, and something else I cant remember. Look into it.
That's a bummer. Can we at least see the photos in 3d enabled laptops/monitors? If we are confined to only the phone, that's a definite negative.
You can upload them to image hosting sites or convert them yourself to view in 2D, but I don't see being able to see them in 3D on a non-3D monitor...kinda why companies sell 3D monitors/tvs
Like dude a few posts up said , look into the NVIDIA 3d conversion thing

[Q] EVO3D to PS3 3D

Hi everyone,
I am trying to watch the 3D pics and movies recorded on my evo3d on my PS3.
Now i can see the regular pictures fine but when i try to watch the movie recorded on my Evo 3d in 3D format, it shows 2 frames running side by side. My TV and PS3 both play 3D blurays fine.
Does this mean i can ONLY watch the pics and videos in 3D on my Evo and not on anything else? No 3d compatible tv's or ps3?? That would be disappointing.
Hope someone can help.
THanks
I think the tv and ps3 use a different type of 3d... The phone uses sbs.. the only way I think u can share that with the tv is to use hdmi to mirror the evo 3d...
Hope I'm wrong for your sake lol

[Q] 2D to 3D player

Anyone know if there is a way or an App out there which would allow you to watch 3d movies much like the way Power DVD works on a 3D laptop?
I think this would be an amazing set up or App if there is one...
I know you can convert on a PC prior to moving it to your Phone thats not what I'm aiming at I'm looking for a player or something similar which allows you to watch a 3D movie on your SIM in 3D...
Thanks

I don't think there is one YET. Really hope that someone proves me wrong.

3D video uploading, downloading, and viewing!!!!!!!!!!!!

don't know if this has been posted yet but just an FYI, did you know that you can upload your 3D videos to Youtube in 3D!!!!!! When you upload them just put "yt3d" without the quotes, in the tag field. Then it will play in the Youtube 3D player, which also gives the option to view in 2D and different versions of 3D including using red/cyan glasses or even cross eyes. Also other EVO 3D users can view your videos from their phone in 3D automatically!!! Here is one that I did:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJUSdjuJblk
If you view that from your EVO 3D it will automatically play in 3D. And just another FYI, if you download the app Tubemate, and do a search for "yt3d" you can find all kinds of 3D videos even 3D movie trailers on Youtube and download them in HD 3D to your phone for offline viewing You can download Tubemate here:
http://devian7.iisweb.co.kr/download.jsp
I know that the default Android video uploader on the phone won't upload via the cell connection if it's over a certain size, it will say WAITING FOR WIFI, . . . . . HOWEVER.. if you use Opera Mobile, just log into your Youtube account and you can upload the files off your phone via your cell connection that way, works great, I get about a 90% or more successful upload rate.
Yep. It's pretty cool. Any 3D videos are actually automagically tagged with YT3D so you don't even need to add tags yourself.
If uploading from a desktop tags are
yt3d:enable=true
Unless they changed it with the new update
All I know is that when I don't add the tag, it doesn't play using the 3D player. And when I just add "yt3d" it does.
post your videos guys! I am uploading one now

3D video
This is a 3D video of 3D RC helicopter flying. I set up with trees in the back ground for a better 3D effect but was not pleased with the result. The video was added to a RC manufacturer's web site so they liked it.
I need advice to get better 3D effects

IKR, that looked like an amazing place to live.
I'm from Belo Horizonte city, in Brasil !
In fact i live in a two-story apartment with my parents, top floor.
I'll try to make another video, but's raining a lot these days...
And have you tried Phereo, for 3d pics sharing / viewing ?
Thats a cool and easy way of sharing it. Nice. Like it that you can choose different kinds of 3D.
