Smart Keyboard Pro. Hands down.
Used SwiftKey(and X), the iphone clones, better keyboard, swype, slideit, stock, gingerbread and all of it just gets killed by SKP.

So I'm pretty much pissed off at the stock HTC keyboard, and Swype doesn't work for me, so I'm wondering what keyboard is worth installing to replace.
I've tried Swiftkey and Smart Keyboard, but they both have problems with double letters when typing fast.
What keyboards are you all using with your 3VO?
Im using Smart keyboard pro and I have problems with it not responding sometimes. I need a better keyboard also. I can't stand the htc one.
if you don't dig swype (and it is an acquired taste I'll admit) I would then recommend swift....
...don't dig swift? Well, almost every other keyboard out there (that isn't trying be either be "swype2" or super unique) will be the same (at best) or worst.
Do swift...have it learn from your txts....srsly, how does that not work for you?
got the old ginge keyboard, seems to be ok.. space bar is a little small..
I was leaning towards the GB stock keyboard, just need to find a modified apk for one with the smilie key. I miss that from my rooted EVO.
I'll probably give into Swift, just was curious what everyone else uses.
Check out hackers keyboard. Its pretty cool.

I downloaded the Swift Beta from the marketplace, seems pretty good, no issues so far with double letters.
I really dig thumb keyboard 4.
The ability to split the keyboard while in landscape so Tue keys are closer to the sides has actually made me want to type in landscape.

I really really miss the GB keyboard. I tried the apk I had from the Evo as well as the one from the market, both not sized for our screens(too small). I'm surprised no update either
Hackers has an ass load of options. I like you can change the overall size it takes up on the screen.
Though I have the full version of SwiftKey, I find the SwiftKey x beta works best for me.

I'm loving flex t9. it's way better than swype imo. plus I got it free from Amazon app a day. I would have bought otherwise. you can trace, write, or voice command it.

the more it learns the better it works.....make sure to let it learn periodically....or make it....also only pick the language modules you need...trust me....I thought I'd shot for flexibility....pfft....more like shooting for randomization--the same applies for swype, lol.

great thread, thanks for everyone who chimed in with keyboard suggestions.
just got swiftkey x beta, gonna give it a try. anything will be better than the crappy stock keyboard.
I wanted to stick with the stock 3vo keyboard but ready to give up. What keyboard app do you like?
Swiftkey X. Has light, dark, neon skins. Works flawless IMO
+1 for SwiftKey. I've been using it for over a year. It just keeps getting better. If you let it learn from your txts, it's uncanny how little you have to type when sending a txt. Often I'll only have to type one letter in each word. Sometimes, not even a letter, as the word I want to type is already in the suggestions. And, SwiftKey is the free app from the Amazon app store today.
I had been using Smartkeyboard and love it. Still do. Downloaded Swiftkey x today (Free in the Amazon app store today!) and liking it so far. Pick it up today!
SwiftKey x is beast its everything the sense keyboard and stock android keyboard is but better Definetly get it off the amazon market while you can

SwiftKey X is great. I better than the stock htc keyboard. It is free on amazon Appstore today July 21th. A day after the beta expired. So i was happy when I checked in to see what the free app was today.

Its FREE right now in the amazon appstore. its the free app of the day today.
I literally bought the keyboard yesterday cause my beta ran out, kinda pissed that I didnt get it for free, but 4 bucks aint bad and I gave the dev some money to keep up support, so oh well...
Thanks
Got it free!
+1for swiftkey X !!
i just grabbed swiftkey. not a fan. i have gotten use to using the t9 keypad. i dont really have to look while i text, with this i have to constantly. been using smartkeyboard for a while. so far i prefer that, but i wont toss it just yet.. i will give it a few days see if it sinks in to me
Damn I want swiftkey no credit card where I am and cannot get to it damn
A root craving Evo 3d

I used SwiftKey. It has glitches... Sent double entries and it would glitch. Doesn't work with Firefighters... Little stupid things. I've been using Swype 3 lately. Kind of like a new hybrid

After using Swiftkey, Swype, Better Keyboard, HTC Stock keyboard, I would say my personal favorite is the stock gingerbread keyboard. Swiftkey is okay.
Where can i get a stock gingerbread keyboard that fits the 3vo screen??
for once i like the stock keyboard on my phone. and on the 3vo the stock keyboard is both touch and swype so thats cool to.
but i used to use Smart keyboard. don't understand how to use thumb keyboard but that seems to be everyones favorite
I had purchased thumb keyboard for my tablet so i put on my 3VO.
I like it. Gives me the ability to customized for portrait and landscape. It also has some intereting layout options like a split over and under for portrait so the keys aren't too small. I'd say its worth a try for all the options and themes if nothing else.
I didn't care for Swift by comparison. It just seems that thumb keyboard offers more for me. Stock is pretty good too.
Definitely Swype for me. I don't text much, so being able to use one finger only and quickly is a huge boon for me.
I'm trying out swift now, and and i think the stock keyboard is pretty great, especially with trace enabled. But an old favorite of mine is Ultra Keyboard. That thing is so customizable.

+1 swiftkey x is the best
I personally love using HTC_IME MOD (HTC keyboard)...
I want to know what others use and why...
i am running 2.3.5 but i am using the old android 2.2 stock android keyboard. i like that it doesn't have space in between the letters so the keys are bigger. and i text a lot and i think the bigger the keys are, the faster i can text.

Super simple and fewer typo's.
Wanted to know what keyboard is your favorite and why? Stock, Smart keyboard pro, swift key 3, swype?
I like the layout of smart keyboard pro but also like the intuitiveness of swiftkey
I'd say that it boils down to user pref, I prefer swype, but it's free... I've heard that swiftkey 3 is excellent too, just haven't had a chance to try it yet ( I think it was free on amazon a while back)
I prefer Swiftkey, although the stock keyboard from og EVO was totally tits.

I love SwiftKey 3, but the beta ran out on me and free Swype beta beats paying for SwiftKey (at least so far... we'll see how I feel after another month of Swype getting things wrong). My favorite parts were the great prediction (obviously), the awesome blue/black theme (forget what it's called) and being able to swap between languages really easily.

Swiftkey for me too. The text prediction can really finish most of my sentences. I wish they would come up with Google+ integration like they do with Facebook because I really don't use Facebook as often and Google+ probably reflects my sentence structure better.
SwiftKey 3, easily.
I have been using swiftkey for years, and swiftkey 3 is really well done. I won't go back to anything else.

I prefer swype like interface.
I have used both swiftkey (before swype-like interface) and afterwards, swype, thumb keyboard, and Slideit.
I prefer using swiftkey slightly.
Swype is probably the best in regards to sliding.
Slideit is nice but has a slight lag that messes me up.
Swiftkey has some predictive stuff which can both help or hinder.
I think you can't go wrong with any of the above 3.
For tablets, I just use thumb keyboard.
for me either stock 4.2 keyboard or samsung galaxy s4's keyboard love them both
I like the stock keyboard and Google keyboard from the market. The stock keyboard is tough to type with after having a number of drinks

Haha. I use SwiftKey, in Pitch color scheme. Jelly Bean keyboard https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jlsoft.inputmethod.latin.jelly.free is great too. Just like the stock Google keyboard but with more secondary functions on the keys.
As someone who purchased both swype and swiftkey, I personally use the Samsung keyboard, though I must add that I took the apk from the international version and changed some things to make it work how I wanted it to. Currently I m testing the Google keyboard from the 4.3 leak and its pretty good, haven't used it very long though.

I've been a swype user since day 1. Even when I had my GS3 but I'm loving the stock Samsung keyboard on the GS4.
Pay for SwiftKey. Best app purchase I have ever made.

Wish Swype would for allow for customer autotexts (abbreviations). I use about 100 of these daily.
I used to use swiftkey before I came to the s4 but now I dont seem to think it looks good on the phone it just looks plan so as of now im using stock even though I serverly hate the keyboard because I keep making mistakes on it.
Have you guys tried touchpal?

I've used SwiftKey for nearly a year now. I did try the 4.2 stock keyboard for a week or two but found my way back to SwiftKey. The predictive capabilities are phenomenal and can really save you time.
I like the stock Samsung key board. The numbers on top are great. My only concern is the dictionary. I have added words to the Samsung dictionary, but they still dont show up when texting. Has anyone had success with adding words to the dictionary?
