I've searched xda and couldn't find anything and I don't know if this is the right area for this, but Is it possible to remove the shortcuts from the sense 3.0 lockscreen? I like the lockscreen because it takes up so little space but the shortcuts can be an eye sore imo. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

These are the reason why I don't like the new sense lock screen, those shortcuts are horrendous.
I did some more searching and found an apk for it. I can't post links yet I don't think but search the thread title basically. Install with root explorer change permissions and reboot. Looks good!

Still getting the empty bubbles, though..
If you can hold out a bit longer, it appears Sense 3.5 has the option to disable the shortcuts on the lock screen.
If you want to check it out, search Bamf soab. (port of Bliss with sense 3.5)
I got it!
- Extract Idlescreen_Base.apk from /System/App
- Open the file in m10editor.exe
- decompile Lockscreen_shortcut.m10
- in the editor tab expand the last item and you'll see Lockscreen_Shortcut, highlight it and under Known Properties set parameter Visible = 0.
- save the file
- sign the .apk and put it somewhere on your SD-card
Open /system/app with Root Explorer or ES File Explorer, delete the Idlescreen_base.apk
Install YOUR Idlescreen_base.apk with your file explorer and restart your phone.
Voila!
(Creds to dased14 here )
EDIT: Guess you could bake it in your ROM-file and flash the ROM..Never tried it though..
EDIT2: You may have to copy your modded .apk to /system/app after you've installed it.

+1, just traded my DX for the Fascinate and the multi-touch keyboard is the one thing I'm missing most.
Check out http://ip208-100-42-21.static.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7454495.
I have the Droid X multitouch keyboard on my Fascinate and have had zero problems with it. =)
I just did this as well; it works like a dream!
I used the q-ime.apk as recommended by Androidious and moved it into the /system/app folder using Root Explorer. After that, just long press in a text field, select the "Input Method" radio button (if applicable), and select the "Multi-Touch Keyboard" radio button from the options.

hmm it's not pasting into /system/app in root explorer for some reason. anyone else running into this issue?
*EDIT*
nm, just had to reboot
Another note for anyone else installing this: this is just the multi touch keyboard. The magnifying glass is NOT part of the apk. At least, for me that's how it is.
ok, im sucha noob.
How do i get this kb to work on my fascinate? i have astro file manager and i have no idea how to use it or to get the kb to work... let alone install. any help?
You will need root access to move the kb to the system/app folder. Root your phone and get root explorer, you need root explorer to move things into the system/app folder

I wondering if there is a way to change the icons, not programs, in the TouchWiz dock. Example - I hate the green phone icon and want to substitute in the ICS phone icon. I can use desktop visualizer to create a shortcut icon...however, TouchWiz only lets you add apps from the drawer to the dock, and desktop visualizer shortcuts do not show in the app drawer (only on the desktop).
I'm not rooted...yet. I don't want to use a launcher other than TWiz because every single one of them is laggy on the Note.
n00b thought - is there a way, with or without root, that I can use root explorer, find the icon .png being used for the phone, and just replace it with a different .png of my choosing?
Thanks!
You can do it, but it'll take a little bit of work.
Use APK Manager to decompile the apk, find the icon, change it, compile, sign, and replace the original apk with your modified one.
Thanks for the info...led me on a fun journey last night through apk multi-tool. Learned a ton. Ultimately, I couldn't push the apk back to the phone after recompiling because it was a system app...need to root. Fun stuff tho!

Rooting is easy and only takes like 2 minutes. Look at the various methods on the development threads.
Here is a good one!!!!!

If you end up wanting to that is.
probably a really stoopid question......
but if I wanted to swap the application (not the icon) in the touchwiz shortcut area how do I do that under ICS. On Gingerbread I just selected edit and could drag and drop a replacement app onto the drawer, but following ICS update I can't. Am I being a total dufus?
Jon.
Just go to the app drawer, hit menu then edit, drag the icons out and drag the ones you want in. No root, no app required.
Edit dock from app drawer!!!

i tried to start the application using titanium backup, but it doesnt give the option to open app...
im trying to do it by editing manifest.xml. i know there apps to hide anothers app..
if you have any idea of how to, ill appreciate it...
(im not an expert on this, and i dont even know if im asking in the right forum)
Hey, did you come across a solution? I'm facing exactly the same problem right now: The App's gone from the drawer but no longer executable by no means.
Sorry for bumping this old thread, but I endured reading about 10 pages of search results without success.
Thanks in advance!
You can use my app "App Quarantine" to do the job. You can disable the app in question (so it's no longer in the application drawer) and re-enable it as you want. Therefore you could use the home screen widget for quickly launching the app.

Hey, thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately I'm searching for a solution to get along without any 3rd party app.
Which means, I want the app to be "set invisible" before even installing it on the phone. I'd really like to know, which file of the apk has to be edited in which way to achieve this.
It'd be totally fine if it simply didn''t appear on the drawer.
Any other ideas?
I have an idea.
I have replaced the icons with a completely transparent .png image and recompiled the apk.
Remember you should not change the file name of the original icon, just replace the content.
I have used apk editor pro for this work.
The app will be in the launcher or app drawer but it will remain invisible.
You should also replace the app name with 3 to 5 spacebars. You can remember the position of the app in the app drawer.
Everyone will see you tapped on a empty space and a app started
I have tested this.
So you can be sure.
One more thing
If you see any folder like mipmap_anydpi_xxx in /res you should delete it

hi all
i am trying for a long time and customizing my acro s. i have now come to the part where i want to change the icons in app drawer. ive read and googled alot but cant find any good solution.
is there no easier way to do this than pull the apps from the phone, changing the icon.png and push it back to phone? i dont want to use any launcher!!
do i have to decompile/compile.? or is enough just to open the .apk with 7z and change the .png
regards Drumc
and must still say, its much more easy to theme/custom a jailbroken iphone

If your just swapping the images out you can just use 7z. Personally I like to decompile the apk, swap the images, sign, then recompile but that's just my own personal preference.

Don't use root explorer to swap the images it's risky to do that on the device (Can cause boot loops). The icons will be in the drawable-hdpi or simmilar named folder such as drawable-mdpi.

HereĀ“s what i did, and that did not work :crying: :
Pulled YouTube.apk from /system/app whit ADB. Opened the .apk with 7z and replaced the ic_logo_square (which is the only file i can find thats look like the icon). replaced the in all the drawable folders, with the right dimensions. 32x32 and 64x64. closed 7z
Pushed the YouTube.apk back to phone into /system/app
Pulled Conversations.apk and replaced the conv_application_launcher.png in drawable-xhdi. only folder where i could find something that looks like the icon. pushed Conversations.apk back to phone.
Rebooted the phone. and voila, nothing has changed at all!!! what went wrong? what else should i do?
ive have also read somewhere, that when changing icons, play-store will not show any updates. is that corect???
Running Rooted. HyperdriveOTA ROM (Love it BTW). CWM.
Wanted to change the App Drawer Button to finalize my minimal theme. Also need to remove the "APPS" label. Picture Attached. I can flash this or edit system files. Not picky.
Wanted to do a few status bar tweaks as well, but the Xposed Framework needs to be set up for Verizon before I attempt it (unless there is a better way). Also wouldn't mind changing the page dots to something else. Any advice for these would be appreciated.
I am not a fan of launchers coming from iPhone/Dreamboard. Much rather mod the ROM directly and nandroid it up.
Thanks in advance!
Hi there,
Have done on my note 1. If it's not working on your s4 since it is 4.2.2 than just ignore my post.
The file you'll need is seclauncher2.apk in system\app
1. Use 7-zip to archive the file
2. Look in res\drawable folders. In my case res\drawable-xhdpi
3. Search for ic_allapps.png & ic_allapps_pressed.png
4. Replace the files with 1 or 2 different png(s) you like. ic_allapps_pressed.png will show another icon when you press the apps drawer button(if you replace both icons with 2 different png(s))
5. Push back into system\app & reboot
Maybe the icons are placed in other drawable folder. So you'll have to search a bit.
To search it easily, copy all the files in each of the drawable folder to normal folder so that you can thumbnail view. The ones look like your apps drawer button should be the ones you looking for.
Hope that give you some hints.
See my screenshot.
They are in drawable-xhdpi
